Well, I sure do hate to be the bearer of less-than-sunny news, but I feel folks ought to know what happened when I took my car to Discount Tire in Indian Land, right there beside the Walmart. I went in just wanting my tires rotated and balanced--a simple request, or so I thought. Now, let me say up front, my tires are in good shape. They aren't bare, and the threads aren't showing. In fact, they've got plenty of good miles left on them. However, the folks there tried to sell me a whole new set of tires, insisting that, by law, they couldn't rotate or balance the ones I already have. It does make you wonder: are these folks just sales people who don't really know much about tires, or are they actually trained professionals who can provide real service? I understand folks have a job to do, and maybe they're just following company policy, but I felt like I was being pushed to buy something I didn't really need. I surely do wish they'd listened to my concerns instead of trying to upsell me. If you're heading over there, just be sure to stand your ground and ask plenty of questions. I had to drive over after work within the last hour they were open and I felt bad because I needed all four tires but they walked me through my current tires, compared prices for similar quality tires, I was able to purchase and put new tires on my car in only an hour! He then proceeded to take me back into the store to price 4 new tires, again I told him that's now why I was there and was not buying for new tires for a new vehicle. He then informed me that dealer tires weren't that good and didn't last that long. Another service tech came out and said I had a nail in the tire and he replaced it. These guys always seem to be honest if you need tires or not.They will check them and tell you yes or no. Have lots of options. Price points. Customer service is extremely good with this group. I've dealt with the one on South Boulevard. And this store in Indian land. Both are good places. I don't ever feel like I've been cheated. This place was absolutely amazing. We had a screw in a run flat tire and called multiple places to try to find a replacement. Other companies said run flats cannot be repaired and we would need to buy at least two tires so there is one on each side. I called discount tire and they said there is a possibility it could be patched but that they would get the two tires we needed in just in case they couldn't. They were able too patch the tire and on top of that they did not even charge us. My wife and I were completely blown away. Not only did they go get two tires just in case but they were completely honest when they could've very easily told us it could not be fixed and we would've without a doubt paid for the two new tires to be installed. Had a last minute flat. I didn't trust my patch work so I came to this business for replacements. Mind you I have history in preventative maintenance with vehicles, this includes tires. I walk in for a pair and was asked if I wanted the new pair in the front or rear. My car is front wheel drive so of course my previous knowledge is saying logically to put them in the front. However, the employee recommended me to put my old tires in the front and the new in the back as he points to a poster obviously made by discount tire to promote their business model. I would have been on board if my vehicle was rear wheeled but it's not. I even asked another employee if this made sense and he also was going through the motion of reading their script. Tim, the manager, went above and beyond to help me. I had a nail removed there, and by the time I got home my tire was flat. I had no way to get my car back there, no spare, and no AAA. I called back and spoke to Tim who graciously agreed to come to my house, pick up my flat, figure out why the plug didn't work, fix it and bring it back to me. Turns out, the tire couldn't be fixed and replacement had to be ordered. To keep me from being stranded at home, Tim found a temporary tire replacement, brought it back to me at my house after work, and installed it. I stopped by there before 11:00 am without appointment for a flat tire. Alex helped me and told me they are fully booked and very busy but if I want to leave my car he can probably have it done by 1:45 pm. So I did. Around 11:09 I got a text saying my car was done! Used these guy when we arrived here in September 2012. They did a great job and send email follow-ups reminding you when to come in for your free rotations. They have an ample parking lot so when you pull in an employee can meet with you to discuss your tire condition and help you with your decisions. A nice touch if you are not certain if you need tires replaced or repaired. Their line of tires include some very inexpensive ones made in, of all places, Vietnam, so suggest you go beyond price and ask about the tire quality. I have found that you get what you pay for. I finally decided to call Discount Tire and have it looked at, because I'm tired of hunting for free air at any nearby QT.
