After making an appointment for 9:00 am - arrived shortly before 9, checked in and asked how long it would take 45 mins to an hour. By 10:00 am they had not started changing the tires. Horrible Service! I recently purchased tires this past Friday (5/25), and one day later 3/4 of my tires deflated. Keep in mind, for the rest of the weekend I had to place air in ALL my tires. Prior to purchasing the tires, I asked about the tires tread, will they fit my rims and so forth. They "supposingly" measured my old tires and found tires that would fit my truck. Which in fact, was NOT true as I sit at another location to figure out the issue. Also, when I spoke to Robert the manager on duty, he had no empathy for my situation other than recommending for me to come back to the store. I have bought at least 2 set of tires from this location, but went there to get air in my snowblower but was told no by the manager, he said that he couldn't do it because it was a plastic tire but had it done before at this location, I just needed it pass the rim to get it started, but he said he seen one explode before and he couldn't do it, I got upset with him and said that was bad customer service and said unkindly things not belligerent but unkindly not right of me to express myself like that, went across the street to Blains Farm Fleet and they helped me out, I will never buy my tires or any service from them again or recommend them to someone for service. I went to this shop to have two new tires put on the front of my car for winter. When I spoke to the kid at the front desk he informed me that they would not be able to put two new tires on the front of my car. He told me that there was a federal law mandating that if only two tires are purchased they MUST be put on the back of the car. While I understand that it is best to put the tires in the back, my back tires were good. After doing some investigating I found out that there is no such federal law. The kid lied to me! Not only will I never go back, I hope you don't either. I went out to Just Tires by the Fox Valley Mall and got EXCELLENT service! You should go there instead. read more

I avoided Discount Tires for many years because the franchises of my hometown in Michigan are notorious for screwing up people's wheels or hubs. I was in the market for new tires earlier this week, and I researched prices for over a month. Discount Tire's prices were the best, and they gave me "trade-in" credit on the existing tires that were on my vehicle. The trade-in credit was only $20-30 per tire (depending on remaining tread depth), but it was $100 overall which saved enough off of the total bill. There was a bait and switch of sorts but we were able to resolve the pricing discrepancy so I ended up spending less. When I called around for quotes, Discount Tire did not include the road hazard protection which is and additional $23/tire. Then when I went into the store to have the order written up, the road hazard was added. I called them out on this, and the person I worked with took off the fee for one of the tires. Also some of the other fees for tire sensor rebuild kits were reduced by 30%. When the work was performed, I was surprised how fast it was completed. All four tires were mounted and balanced within 30 minutes. Overall the people are courteous, professional. I will visit this franchise again for ongoing maintenance of my new tires. I knocked them down only one star due to the bait and switch and also for not offering wheel alignments. read more

This is the only place I will go for tires in the area. In stark contrast to their direct competitors in the area I have had nothing but positive experiences with this store and the employees. Everyone has always been polite, helpful, and honest. They are always willing to show you where and why replacements are needed. Service is fast, and prices are good. These guys are ripoff artists! A customer from Jiffy Lube recommended this place. The employees there told me I didn't need a new tire, I just needed to get the seal cleaned, so I thought I would try Discount Tire. My tire regularly runs out of air, and I thought I would finally just fix it. They were busy; it was a Monday morning. Guy there takes one look at it and says, you need a new tire! I understand that they were busy; he could have told me to come back on a slower day, but no, he tells me I need a whole new tire, which subsequently would have been two new tires. I quickly told him thank you for your time, and left. Two mechanics have told me previously that all I need is to clean the tire, so I will wait until I find an honest mechanic that will do just that. Also, the manager at another auto shop that does not fix tires told me previously to stay away from discount tire because they insist on you getting repairs and parts that you really don't need. I just thought I would give them a chance based on the more recent recommendation. read more

Scratches and gouges after getting new tires. Made a claim, and was rejected because I didn't take before pics. Sam Mitchell "claims adjuster" is a P.O.S. Pretty much telling me to prove it. I gave him pics after the fact. Car was bought brand new, garage kept, and that was my first set of tires I put on my Charger. Never giving them another cent, and recommend that NO ONE goes there!! Even checking my psi on my way home and they had my left rear at 50 psi!! Complete idiots they have in the shops and obviously in they're claims department. I'm not putting all the pics with damage. Just so upsetting with the damage and the way I was written off and under-minded by the claims adjuster Sam Mitchell. Probably a kid who doesn't know anything. By the way I am an automotive painter with over 15 years experience and have seen all types of damage. Discount tire damaged all but one of my rims and refuses to take responsibility! Purchased 3 sets of tires here in the last 2 years. Excellent service and installation. Will not be purchasing anymore tires at Discount Tires because of my experience since. 1) Forget about making appointments. I had to wait over an hour just for a tire balance even though I was on time. 2) Had a leak in one of the tires a couple months ago. Discount Tires insisted I needed new $600 rims on a vehicle with less than 45,000 miles. Ended up NOT having the leak fixed at Discount Tires, even though doing this for free was part of the agreement. Went to my mechanic who said a wire brush was all that was needed for a good seal. Cost me $20 at my mechanic. 3) Tread was measured 7/10 and I was told it was dangerous to let another year go by without purchasing new tires, even though Discount Tires has my mileage and can see I drive less than 10,000 miles per year. read more

Last weekend, my husband asked me to bring two of his tires into Discount Tire to get nails pulled out and get the holes plugged. I dropped them off and was told to pick them up in about 45 minutes. When I returned, I was told to put my credit card away. Apparently, they pulled the nails out and found that they had not punctured through the tires. They even soaked them in water to verify. No charge. Wow, these guys could have easily gotten away with charging me, but instead they chose to go for excellent customer service. Yay Discount Tires! :) read more

Went in because of a slow leak. They told me it couldn't be fixed and I would need to get 4 new tires. I asked for him to recommend several to me so I could research them - he recommended 1, of course very expensive. I went to a local place, they found a screw, fixed it, and no new tires needed. All these guys want is to rip us off. If I end up having to get tires there because of price or availability, I definitely won't go back to that location. read more

I was in town from out of state and found myself in the situation where I needed one rim replaced and a new set of tires. Discount Tire was able to have my tires done within an hour. In addition, the staff was very informative and answered my million questions. The tires were affordable and they give free tire air checks. I recommend them for your tire needs. read more

Unbelievable (POOR) service. My wife took her car in to have tires replaced. When she left, the car did not feel right. After looking it over, the break line was leaking. She took it back and they told her there is nothing they can do: that it was not their fault and they don't even repair brakes. They told her the car had 90,000 miles and asked if she even changed her breaks. Condescending! We do that ourselves by the way! They told her they opened a claim with corporate. Avoid this place. They damaged our car, are careless and endangered my wife and two children with their wanton disregard. Now we have our car at the dealership to have repairs made. read more

First time I have written a review for Discount Tires, but they deserve a great review for the recent service I received at this location. I was looking to replace all 4 tires on my 2012 Chevy Malibu. I looked on-line at NTB first as they were offering a buy 2 - get 2 for free, but the stipulation on the promo was that I also had to buy the Value Installation Package for all 4 tires at the same time. The final price with this promo ended-up being more money for all four tires than it would have been for buying 4 tires outright without the promo. I had always purchased from Discount Tire in the past and figured I would give them the benefit of a doubt as well, so I called the Oswego, IL. location and spoke with Jason. He listened to me, assured me that DT wanted my business more and offered to match the lower price from NTB to get it. When he found out that the tire I had shopped at NTB wasn't in stock, he offered a slightly better tire - both a little more expensive and with a better warranty on tread life and he still beat NTB's price by 0.10. Not a huge amount, but his willingness to accommodate me, his positive attitude and my past experience with DT were all I needed to make an easy decision to give Discount Tire my business. I taken flat tires to DT in the past and they fix them for free. I've had one tire replaced and multiple tires replaced using several different locations in the area and DT ALWAYS treats me with respect. I never feel like I'm being taken advantage of. I don't always like the news I get regarding if the tire can be fixed or if it has to be replaced, but my decision to purchase isn't always based purely on price either. I work in sales myself, so speaking to a customer in an attentive tone, considering the options and letting me make a decision with the most accurate information in itself is worth more to me than just the overall price. I asked how much it would be to put one of my old front tires on the rim that had about 4mm left in case of an emergency??? No problem they said we will take care of it for you ... No charge. Went there to get a tire repair. When I checked in they said they do patches for free. So the kid takes the tire off of the rim and rolls it inside and says there is a slice in the sidewall, which there was. Then he continues to tell me that he cannot put it back on the rim for safety reasons. I end up spending $210.00 for one tire that I did not plan on buying that day! I asked if he could put the spare on and I would get a replacement in a week. He said they could not do that.... He said he was sorry that he did not notice the slice until he took it off the rim, how could he not?!! I asked him why did he dismount the tire without looking at it first. Even though it was on the inside, he should have looked at it before he took it off. Sounds like they do this all the time by the other posts below. How convenient for them. Then the salesman tried to sell me three more tires because they were worn. I went to the Ford dealer down the street, Riverview Ford and bought three more $50.00 cheaper per tire!!! They also do free repairs and rotations. I will never go back to discount tire or recommend these shyster sales people. read more

Very much disappointed with my experience at Discount Tire in Oswego. I purchased four new tires that I needed to replace for my vehicle. When I received my car, I noticed my hubcaps were scratched up. I purchased this car a few months prior and had 0 scratches or damage. The mechanic who was working on my car managed to scratch up all four hubcaps. I spoke to the manager immediately and he said he would replace only two hubcaps. Upon pick up, after replacing the hubcaps, the employees tried to charge me. I explained my experience and gave them the name of the manager who approved of the service. They proceeded to tell me I agreed to paying one hubcap, and were trying to find the "note" they had under my information. They never found it, of course, and I was able to leave without paying like promised. The new hubcaps that were replaced looked extremely dirty, as if someone drove through mud. I was in disbelief in the laziness of their work. It takes 10 seconds to shine up a hubcap or at least make it look presentable. Food for thought, please take before and after pictures of your entire car before dropping it off here. read more
