I was pretty stressed out and he kept things light and funny and was honest about the work that needed to be done now to make it driveable and what could wait till payday. We have been coming to Discount Tire for several years, but due to my recent experience, I plan to go elsewhere in the future. I needed two new front tires and a patch on one of the rear tires. The manager, Mike, was friendly. I clearly informed him I did not want to purchase the warranty on the tires. It took about 90 minutes for them to call me up (which seemed a bit long because I had made an appointment, but they were busy), and the employee charged me without first providing an itemized invoice. I asked for the itemized invoice and realized that they had tried to sneak in the warranty I clearly did not want. They refunded it at my request. Then, my car was left running in the parking lot with no one attending it; I called someone over and asked them to point out the new tires. They had put them on the front. I am no tire expert, but I know it's standard practice to put new tires in the back and rotate the rear tires to the front because the rear tires provide stability and should have the most tread. I pointed this out to him and he conceded that's standard, but said he "wasn't told to do it that way on the form." I asked him to fix it and they complied. I don't know if it was sexism (I am a young woman and perhaps they thought I wouldn't check the invoice or know anything about tires) or simple laziness, but the customer should not have to tell these people how to properly and safely handle tire maintenance. I was very frustrated by this experience and do not plan to return. I will note that throughout me having to correct several of their mistakes, the employees remained polite, but customer service alone does not excuse the incompetence. I find it alarming and a safety issue that they installed the two new tires on the front, so I would make sure that you closely check their work if you choose to purchase tires at this location. read more

This store badly needs better internal communications. Went in on a busy Monday to get a rear tire patched/fixed. Told it would be 2 hours. Made sure they had MY cell number. Walked a block away to eat some lunch and browse stores. Came back 2 hour later ... saw mechanic putting drivers rear tire on. So stood by until he noticed me and said he put the spare on as it couldn't be fixed with 2 holes close together. I say, "so I need to get a tire?" He said, "They called you, check inside. I checked my phone i had not received any call. I stepped inside as a text message popped to say, my cube was ready for pickup! I said, "I'm here about the blue cube." to the lone fellow behind the desk. He went out to the service area. Came back with a printed receipt saying "tire repaired no charge". He told me it was ready to go. I'm now thinking ... maybe the mechanic was mistaken. Possibly thinking that I own a different vehicle? I step back outside ... my cube is rolled out on the drive ready to go. I jump in and leave. It's riding funny, check tire pressure light is on still and something is banging against my back seat. Pulled over in a shopping center right away ... to find... my donut spare is on the passengers rear. My bad tire is upright in the trunk space flopping between the rear seat and door with ever single move. I called my husband at his work having already wasted 2 hours. He said, "I'm not thrilled how they treated you, go home and head to Costco in the morning." Discount did leave a phone message for MY HUSBAND on the HOME landline. When you walk into Discount Tire, all over the store it says "Your safety is our #1 priority." I found this not to be true. There was someone inside not wearing a mask inside the small store. A young, vibrant looking white male. I asked the staff if they enforce masking wearing at this establishment and he said yes. I pointed out how there was someone not wearing a mask inside their small, air conditioned lobby (I was in Phoenix, it is over 100 degrees outside). He did not seem to want to ask this person to wear a mask. He later said "We try to to enforce it." So I asked him again, "Will you be trying right now? With this person who is not wearing a mask in the lobby?" He looked annoyed and finally mentioned something to a different staff member, who also proceeded to do nothing and walked away to the back, never returning during my time there. I asked this same staff person again, "Do you guys enforce mask wearing or not?" I want to know, where does Discount Tire stand? He said he told another staff member, which I pointed out did nothing. After badgering this staff person NUMEROUS times, he walked over to the person and offered him a mask. The anti-masker replied, "I have a disability!" and the staff member shrugged his shoulders and walked away. This anti-masker should have been asked to wait outside or leave. I am tired of having to ask staff to enforce safety during a global pandemic. It's so uncomfortable and I shouldn't have to enforce this. It's basic courtesy to try and keep your customers safe. I fully get mask wearing in Phoenix is suggested and not required. I prefer to patron businesses that do require mask use. Will not be returning for this reason, which is too bad. read more

I have given Discount Tire my business for decades. I tolerate the idiotic policy about putting the newest tires on the back... mostly. But today, a different idiot policy came to light. I stopped in and asked if they would re-mount a wheelbarrow tire that I had replaced the tube in, because I had dismounted it but could not easily put the tire back on the rim. At first, they said, not a problem! Then they noticed that (heaven forbid) the tire was a ... a... TUBELESS tire - and at some point, a mortal sin had been committed that someone had inserted a tube into the tire (because tubeless tires on wheelbarrows are ... well, stupid). And they have a POLICY of not working on tires that are marked tubeless that have had tubes put in them. Because insurance, you know? So when I am heading down the freeway in my jet powered wheelbarrow I guess it could be a problem as I get up past 100 mph. Seriously. This is STUPID. Guess what, discount tire. I have a POLICY that prevents me from doing business with IDIOTS. read more

This store is crazy busy, but they still manage to provide top notch service in a timely fashion. The store manager, Ryan, is on top of his game. I needed a rebalance from a previous visit to a different location. They inspected everything and also found a nail in the sidewall of one of my tires, so that could not repaired. Ryan addressed the situation and, with my approval, replaced the tire immediately. In addition, I was missing a valve stem cover and they made sure that was replaced as well, without me having to ask them to. I highly recommend Discount Tire in general, but this store is second to none! read more

1) they attached the wrong name and number to my car so I receive no updates, show up 3 hours later to find nothing has been done. No big problem. It happens 2) have the warranty, turns out if someone stabs your tire as opposed to a screw stabbing your tire on the road, the warranty is void. No consideration or flexibility was offered on this point. Came in to get two leaks fixed under warranty and a tire rotation. This place is ridiculous! 3 trips just to replace a tier and a rim! They throw away my original jeep rim and first replace it with a garbage rim stating it was just like my original! When I pick it up it had a logo witch I was ensured will not be there, a different brand. I asked to immediately order an original jeep and keep my rim for the inner logo parts since another employee said it was separately sold! They throw it away then called me when the jeep rim arrived to replace that and tried to push again on buying a new inner part with the jeep logo! that was my second time there. This fraud told me they needed to order me the jeep inner logo part for the rim! I told them to use mine from the rim they removed and they replied they have thrown that away! So they pay for the new one but still it shows how disorganized and disgusting this people are especially because in each trip I did the employees helping me forgot to call me back when the car was ready and I had to call back, also they made personal comments like speaking me in Spanish when I told them I am Italian and this guy kept talking me in Spanish stating it is all Latin! The other employee that missed to call me back to the shop made personal comments like oh you have done grocery shopping I see! This place is a joke bunch of lame ignorant pretentious people! I noticed a screw in one of my tires on my way to work. Luckily I'd purchased a set of tires from a different Discount Tire location about 8 months ago. This location was the closet so I pulled in about 20 minutes before they opened. As soon as I got inside the customer service was friendly and speedy which for a guy who had to expectedly stop for a new tire on his way to work is exactly what I needed. I was in and out in 20 minutes with a patched tire and a rotation on all four. Since I bought the warranty when I purchased the tires it was all free. I made an appointment online and was taken as soon as I walked in. I had new tires 30 min later. I didn't feel they pressured me into anything I didn't need and gave me an honest assessment of my other two tires. Disappointment. That is what I have to say about the Discount Tire on 18th St. and Camelback. This store seems to be filled with a bunch of immature tire slingers. I thought you were suppose to be professionals and not mess around. Last time I checked there was no tire in the engine compartment and my trunk carpet wasn't creased in half from the factory. Discount, if you are going to have glass windows looking into your service bays make sure that your technicians... scratch that...shop boys show some respect for the customers cars and the parts that belong to them. That means please don't act like your going to have a tossing match with the wheels of the car because they're so light and small. Also I do have to say that for having 2 people on one car with 15 inch wheels and still take so long from park is kind of pathetic. At least no one was sleeping out there, I mean at least technically... Will I go back to this location, probably not. Totally just made a believer out of me. Woke up this morning with a flat, which naturally put me in the world's worst mood all day. Schedule an appt online (very nifty feature by the way,) only to arrive here hours later, still in the world's worst mood. What can I say, when I get there it can be tough to pull me out. Until my first experience at this Discount Tire that is... Place is running like a well-oiled machine. Tons of employees, everybody hustling, not a soul standing around, efficiency at its finest. I have a roofing nail in my tire which I yelled at my bf about for an hour this AM as he lives in Cave Creek and my argument was that no one in Phoenix (where i live) can afford new roofs, so this obviously happened in his neck of the woods and was therefore his fault. Great argument, I know. Anyhow, patch job totally complete (at 5pm on a Friday nonetheless) in 35 freakin' minutes! And get this, they call my name to tell me my car is ready to go, I go to pull out my wallet, and the lovely man says "NO CHARGE." Are you freakin' kidding me?! No charge?! Is it because I'm a girl? Not likely, I look about as good as I felt when I walked in there. Is it because of my charm? Certainly not. Remember the whole "World's worst mood" sentiment from earlier? Sadly the lovely employees were not spared. Is it because I scheduled an appt online? I doubt it because that's just stupid. I asked repeatedly why there was a total of $0.00 on my receipt, and all they kept saying to me was "Just come back and see us again." What a novel freakin' idea. Repair my flat for free on some tires I definitely didn't buy there, and hope that leaves a good enough taste in my mouth to purchase tires there next time I need them. You know what? It totally did. Not too long ago, my husband was driving my H1 Humvee when a tire developed a flat. It was 5:30 in the evening when he limped into the parking lot of this Discount tire store. Despite closing at 6pm, the manager and one of the techs made time to help him: as you can imagine, pulling and changing a tire on an H1 is no small feat. I took it in, they found a nail, removed the nail and patched the tire for....free! Yes free! And they gave me a water bottle! Amazing. Discount makes the process easy, you can go on their website, put in your car and it will tell you what tires you need and give you different brand/price options. You can complete the entire process online, make an appointment, and head in to the store when you're ready. Additionally, if you make an appointment, they don't make you wait longer than 45 minutes. In my case, I got there about 25 minutes early, and they completed the work on my car by my appointment time....and it wasn't like they weren't busy....awesome!!! I had the best experience at this location buying 4 new tires for my vehicle. As a younger female never having purchased tires without the help of my father when visiting or one of my male friends to assist I was thrilled with my experience. I had done my research prior to going in for a quote and felt fairly confident in what to ask, the brands I was interested in, and a good range in price for a quote. I worked with Ralph Mickens and I would encourage everyone to ask for him. He showed me a low, mid, and high priced tire for my vehicle. He explained the difference in quality and star ratings and was able to answer the questions I had. I felt no pressure whatsoever to go with the highest priced tire. I can't say enough good things about my experience and working with Ralph. I will be a return customer for sure! Tire rotations and balances are free if you buy a set of four tires as well.
