Over the past year I have had really bad experiences with Discount Tire. I have one front tire that continues to lose air and trigger my tire pressure light. I went to Discount Tire 3 times for the free pressure check, each time them telling me there is no hole to patch. The third time I finally just said enough is enough and bought 2 new tires, and they said they would include a tire rotation, so my front tire would be replaced. I waited 3-4 hours for the tire change, just to have my SAME front tire start getting flat and trigger the pressure light less than a week later. I decided to not go back and ask for a FOURTH time. Clearly they did not rotate my tires, which means I had two good tires thrown away. Will be buying tires elsewhere. Waste of my time/money. read more

I've been using Discount for years, and unfortunately today I experienced the worst customer service. I've noticed a strange sound coming from one of my tires. My husband jacked it up and said he believes the right front is 'out of round'. Because we're long time Discount customers he asked that I take it to them to have a look. I was greeted (using this term loosely) by Workflow Manager, Paul. I explained the noise, he said he'd take a look. Paul touched my 2 front tires, said there's nothing wrong with them, and said to take it to a mechanic. I then called my husband, he suggested I ask for Discount to jack it up to take a look. I went back in. Paul was visibly annoyed and treated me as if I was a nuisance. I know nothing about cars, but I know enough to know that something isn't right. Trying to explain that to someone who is obviously bothered my me, is difficult and embarrassing. When it was my turn, it was a little past closing time. Paul pulled the outside chairs inside, never offering me a chair to sit in. When his employee checked my car, I watched from outside. They determined nothing was wrong. Paul then walked over to me and said, "there's absolutely nothing wrong with your tires", and walked away. On top of everything today was raining and cold, I couldn't sit inside because of Covid. Paul was not concerned. I had to ASK if it was ok to sit in my car until it was my turn. Literally everything he did and said made me feel small. Either Paul has absolutely no customer service skills, or he had a bad day. I'm not sure I'll ever go back. read more

Awakened to a flat tire this AM. Triple A was on the job however. Because I work downtown, I simply drove to Gillespie field & hopped on the trolley. Left work early but still didn't get to Discount Tires (Santee) until 5:35pm....they close at 6:00. Still, Dominic took my tire, patched it & replaced the donut tire. I still got out of there before 5:50, thanks to him & Chris B. Bottom line, even though I just purchased the 4 set of tires (late August) they honored their repair policy but more than that took me in that close to closing and took care of me as if I'd shown up early morning. read more

The service team moves quick as unit. They are the engine that drives the store. The sales team could use some more training. How to recognize what type of Customer is in front of them. Brand customer, value customer, or store reliant customer. Once they can determine that then they can be superior tire retailer. When I visited the store the teammate that asked to assist me tried too hard to get me to buy any tire, even offering plus size tire options when I was looking for only 2 tires. That would make it so that my SUV have staggered tire sizes which makes no sense. I can understand if he offered it for all for tires to be plus size but not just 2. Then trying to offer used tires is a hard No for me cause the liability risk is not worth the savings. Sometimes letting a customer walk out the door is the best option when you don't have what the customer is looking for. Tip to store: Do what's in the best interest of the customer and not for personal gain by selling something they don't really want. Protect the store from a bad reputation and of course liability from bad products (used tires) read more

Bear tires undercut them by $300, they complained that I went there but had to do some work on my tires when I picked up a nail. Said they couldn't work on the tire because if it wasn't fixable they couldn't put it back on. Other locations wouldn't put tires on the car if it didn't meet their standards. Listen, I get that you don't want to be sued, but you need to simply have clients sign a release of liability. Never ever going back to one of these locations. This is probably the best service business of any kind in San Diego County. They have the best prices, never try and sell you something you really don't need, and are friendly and courteous - unusual traits for a tire store. Today one of my original equipment run flat tires on my bimmer ran flat. I brought it over and they fixed it At No Charge and treated me and gave me priority as if I was a paying customer. They were backed up 12 tire installations and still promised and delivered in 2 hours! This wasn't their tire - just because I am a regular customer. Woke up to a flat tire this morning because of a screw. I began to panic because I had a lot of things to do and needed to be somewhere that afternoon. I took my car to discount tire as soon as they opened and was greeted by Michael who was very friendly. He said he would do his best to repair the tire, but because of the location of the screw there was a good chance I would have to replace the tire. I got the car back within an hour and was told that they were able to repair the tire free of charge! It really shows how honest this place is. My experience at discount tire was great and really turned my day around. I greatly appreciated Michael's professionalism and wonderful customer service. I will definitely return when it's time to replace my tires. read more

Came in on a Saturday around 9. Place was already packed. Had a nail in my tire, Mike helped me out, he first checked to see if it was short nail or if it was fully punctured my tire, then once he saw that it was leaking air, he let me know that they would repair it and that the current wait time was an hour and half. He said he would call me when it was ready. Found a way to kill some time and they called me at the hour and a half mark to let me know my car was ready. The service here was prompt and great. Just a quick note as I always like to provide kudos whenever possible - recently moved to Santee. Had a slow leak this week in my newer jeep and found a nail in one tire. Went to Pep Boys as I noticed it was right up the street. Was there the minute they opened. Said they would need to keep my suv the entire day and could pick up near closing. And who knows how much they would have charged. Quick google and went to this Discount Tire a little further up the street - very friendly staff, QR code check in, got me in within an hour, plug patch checked all tires. Techs are jogging to cars, busy and watching all of them - all had great attitudes. My very long time friend Kinny Denton/Mgr of a Glendale AZ store has worked for DT for numerous years and corroborates what a great company this is. I have never gotten tires anywhere else in all my prior vehicles and should have came here first. I appreciate them and especially this store today. My experience with Discount Tire on Mission Gorge Road was awful! Got in my car & noticed that weird light came on my dash, the one that says your tire or tires are low. Went to discount tire & they tested the air pressure on all tires stating one was "very low". Showed me where the puncture hole was & said they could NOT fix it because of where it was located. They refused to put on the spare, put the tire back on & added more air, said it would be ok cause it was a slow leak!! I drove home & 1 hour later went out to drive my car & the tire was flat, down to the rim! My husband said that they over inflated the tire, which caused it to go FLAT!! I called them back & they said there was nothing they could do!! They were useless & made the matter WORSE!! read more

Let me tell you, this place had amazing customer service! I believe the gentleman's name was Eduardo, and this guy was on-point with his customer service skills. He managed to up-sell me on tires, but I walked away HAPPY! What the hell? No joke, they had me in and out within an hour, and I was greatly appreciative of how they helped me. I needed new tires, he sold me on some tires, and then informed me of a rebate. I can't complain about the level of service that came out of this place, and I hate spending money! Discount Tire...where do i start? Good customer service up front. Pricing was relatively good. The only thing that makes this store suck in particular is that the techs lolly gag in the back and dont move with a purpose. There is no way replacing two tires and and balancing them should take 3+ hours on a walk in. I get it, you have appointments that come first but you only schedule appointments per hour. You have 4 bays and one bay should be designated for appointments, how do i know that? Because i worked for discount tire at one point. Pick up the pace in the back and this store will exceed alot of standards and make customers happy. My baby goes into the honda dealership for it's major service, I sit there patiently as they pull up my information and do a walk around her...the service rep comes back and says I NEED new tires...oy... So I am not just in for a $400 tune up, but I gotta spend another $600 or more on new tires...greeeat. They give me a quote and I sit there thinking, I'm sure Discount Tires can do better. As right I was, Andy at Discount Tires totally hooked me up with a sweeeeet deal on Michelin tires. I was quoted at Honda for $800 plus labor fees, at Discount tires they either match or do better to anyone's price...I got my tires for less than $600 with a better warranty than Honda...The staff here was very helpful and patient, making sure I get what I need for the best rate. I wish I could give this place 10 stars. I'm not sure what I did to deserve this great gesture but all I can do is leave this review and hope I can pay it forward. This place and the guys who work here are a class act. Thank you to Ryan, Daniel and especially Antonio. My mom's been coming here for years but I've never really had tire issues so I'd only been here a couple times. Basically, this morning I had a flat and yay for me, I had a flat donut too. AAA switched them out (the tire was RUSTED to the car! I needed burly man strength) and filled up the donut with air so I could make it to Discount Tire. Now at this point I'm honestly kind of shitting bricks because I have been unemployed and just started a new job - waiting on that first paycheck, you know how it is. The most I could come up with was about $230 in cash, plus the less-than-a-hundred-bucks in my bank account. Now, I'm not dumb... I knew my tires were in bad shape. Thread showing, totally bald, could've exploded at any second, etc etc. Considering the tire was rusted to the car I'm pretty sure they've never been changed, so that's about 91k miles and 6 years of wear to them. I know, I know. I came in, was offered a bottle of water (very nice gesture on this hot day) and said I'm on a budget, I need two tires on the front and please put the old ones on the back. Ryan checked my tires and said, we can't work on your car and still let you leave here with that kind of damage to your tires. He checked to see if there were any used ones but no dice. He handed me off to Antonio and said he would take care of me and man oh man, did he. Antonio hooked me up with 4 brand new tires for the price of 2. I was shocked and profusely thanked him. It was finished in about an hour, then Daniel gave me the run-down on the tires and was very clear about the tire pressure light needing some time to re-adjust. All three guys made this an absolutely great experience. This is embarrassing, but I cried while driving home. They were very generous and seriously helped a poor girl out. Maybe it's just standard for them but it really meant a lot to me. I can't thank them enough! read more

20 years and 8 vehicles later I'm still doing business with the "Santee" Discount Tire store. Over time this store has made a ton of money from me, but for good reason. No matter how much employee turnover I've seen over the years the customer satisfaction always stays the same. And just when I thought it couldn't get any better this past weekend takes the cake. I won't get into details of the actual scenario but let's just say that we ran into a major obstacle, and no wrong doing to Discount. In the end they were able to satisfy my needs making me extremely happy with the outcome of my vehicle. I can't say enough about the store manager and their entire staff top to bottom. Updated Review as of 3/6/15. I recently reviewed Discount Tire in Santee about a month ago. I've advised the manager that I will give them a second shot. About 2 weeks ago I came in for another try. I bought BFG A/T tires. The same sales guy helped me and was very attentive. Gave me a great deal, was able to trade in my tires. OTD price was competitive. I dropped off my tundra and let them keep it most of the day. I came by to pick it up in the afternoon. My wife drove my truck home and I rode away on my Harley. When we got home, she mentioned that the steering wheel was vibrating like crazy. I looked at the new tires to see if they had balanced them. To my surprise, I noticed a huge mess. Rim lubricant was left all over my rims and my tires were super messy with dried up tire/rim lube. I also noticed a center cap missing on my right front wheel. (See pics I posted) I brought the truck back and had them rebalance the wheels and they ordered me a new center cap for my rims. When I drove my truck after the rebalance, I still had the steering wheel shake. I wish they had advised me prior to buying bigger tires that Tundra wheels were so hard to balance with larger tires. I'd give them 3.5 stars if yelp allowed it. 4 stars if they didn't lose my center cap and not left my rims and tires a mess. And 5 stars if they balanced my tires correctly, cleaned my rims and tires and not lose my cap. read more

This place has five star service. My wife came here a couple of months ago and got two new tires and raved about their service and the fact they didn't try to convince her to get four tires when she only needed two. Last week I went here because my tires were looking a little bald. I told them I would like them inspected and one tire in particular was having issues with going flat a few weeks after I filled it with air. They checked the tire and found no holes even though I honestly would have believed there was one. Second, they told me that I could get away with driving on the tire for another month or two even though I would have believed they had nothing left to give. Finally, my wife pulled in while my car was being inspected. Her car had smoke coming out of the engine. Her car had just had an oil change at a local jiffy lube and they came out to make sure she had enough oil and no engine damage so she could get back to jiffy lube. Fortunately it wasn't anything serious, but the fact that they worked up my car's tires and my engine for free is amazing. When my car is actually ready for tires I will come in and get them done here. read more

So now, instead of just being able to order tires at this location, after waiting 20 minutes to speak to someone, we need to drive 30 minutes away to order the same tires but with better pricing from the same company. Got out of work on Thursday afternoon and noticed I had a screw in the front tire of my car. Stopped at Firestone across the street 10 minutes before closing and was told that they didn't have my tire in stock, but could have it first thing in the morning if I wanted to leave my car over night. I told them I was going to check across the street at Discount. Got in the door just as they were closing up and they were so friendly. They had my tires in stock. I told them I was willing to leave the car overnight, but they said that they wanted me on the road safe again. I am so impressed by the fact that even though they closed at 6, they were willing to stay late and take care of my needs. What amazing customer service!!!
