I know a TIRE SCAM when I see one! Take this scenario: I purchase 4 new 60,000 miles $200 each tires. I don't get back right away to the tire store, Discount Tire, to have my tires rotated and I had put on 6000+ on the tires already. Being that the tires on the front of ANY vehicle wear it tires the greatest in the front and especially on the right front. I needed to take my vehicle in to have the tires rotated to get longer life and a more balanced wear on all four. But after getting to Discount Tire the manager says, "Because your front tires are more wore than your rear tires we can't put the rear tires on the front. Or policy is to always have the better tires on the rear. To rotate the tires you'll need to purchase two new tires to be placed on the rear and rotate the rear to the front. I state, "But I've put less than ten thousand miles on these 60,000 mile tires and that's the reason I need to rotate them to the rear, so they'll last longer, because if I leave them on the front they'll wear their edges to the belt." Manager says, "I'm sorry but we can't put the more wore tires on the rear." I said, "Then I'll need to go someplace else, because the next time I come in you'll demand I buy two more new tires." This is a scam! You could never purchase four new tires without uneven wear on the front and at that point they'll refuse to rotate the front to the rear. They're doing this to sell more tires. Be it's both the manufactures and tire stores, be it Discount Tire, Big O or many others, which are in on the scam. read more

I called around to price my selection at different stores, but until I called Discount Tire it was a chore to "defend" my selection. When I did call Discount Tire, it was quick and easy to order the tires, and set up an appointment. When I got there, it was quick and easy. The install was done right and fast. read more

I took a trip and had one of my Michelin tires fall apart on the highway. I called AAA and had the new Michelin spare put on. I purchased 4 new tires when I got back to Spring, TX. I personally instructed the service attendant Tyler Calley to remove the brand new Michelin tire from the front driver side and place it in the trunk to use as a spare again. My new Faulken's were installed but before I left I checked the spare in the trunk and to my surprise, the damaged tire was still there. Apparently they disposed of my new Michelin. I became upset and asked for the manager. Joe was pleasant and apologized about the occurrence. He went to the back and found the new Michelin and fixed the problem. He returned $30.00 back to my credit card. I keep thinking that if I hadn't checked my trunk and traveled, I would be stranded without a spare tire. Was this intentional? Tyler screwed me with the total cost but I was in a hurry and left paying an additional $100.00 compared to the total price on the website. read more

I was in a bit of a predicament. My tire was pretty flat and I had to get home for an important appointment for my child. I pulled into Discount Tire to ask if they could just put some air in my tire so I could make it home. They were very busy but agreed to take a look. They told me it was too dangerous to drive and offered to fix it. I was reluctant to agree because I really had to get home. They told me it would only take 15 minutes which gave me just enough time to make it home. They really did get it done in that amount of time. They fixed the tire, got it back on in time, and did not charge me for the service. These are good people and their shop is an asset to our community. Just returned from the shop. Picked up a screw in my low-profile tire. They patched it and sent me on my way. No way I could have contested a diagnosis that I needed a new tire. I had a similar experience last year when I took a chunk out of my sidewall. Service guy looked at it and said it was a cosmetic issue, but not a structural problem. Again, I was prepared to buy new tires if he told me I needed to. Great place will return again and again. read more

I used to buy my tires at COSTCO and their prices are very good. But I hated waiting 2 hours to get service. I used Discount Tire for the first time. Their prices are about the same as Costco's and you can make an appointment. With an appointment, my car was done in 45 minutes. Same prices as Costco, far better service. read more

Patrick was very professional and made buying tires less of a drag. I didn't get the vibe that they were trying to up sell just find me a product that fits my need. My first car. first time i needed to get new tires. i was exstreamly pleased. I walked in and i was instintly helped. i had no idea what i needed so the guy ran out to my car and looked he was back in within a minute and told me the sizes and that i NEEDED new tires because the treads were way beyond recommended depth. He told me it would take an hour. i went for a walk and came back 45 minutes later and i asked and he said it was done. I bought 2 tires in November & went in to get them rotated a little over a week ago. The man who was assisting me at the counter (I didn't get his name!) came back and said, "Your rear tires are completely bald. They need to be replaced." I said, "That's not possible, they're only 2 years old!" He said, "Come and look." I did and I said, "Those aren't the tires I bought 2 years ago. I think your guys replaced my newer tires in November and left the old ones on!" He said, "Let me look it up on the computer" and I figured I was screwed and would be forced to buy 2 new tires. Instead he looked up from the computer and said, "You're right, they replaced the wrong tires. We owe you 2 new ones. Our bad." Just like that. I didn't have to get angry or anything! We bought highway tires, snow tires and and extra set of wheels from Discount in Northgate. The incentive was their policy of mounting snow tires for free every year. The problem is they break studs every time they touch the car.--four studs in two years. They don't do the repair which means another appointment at a repair shop and time wasted (they pay for the stud replacement). The first shop they recommended hammered the old stud stump out and damaged the front bearings (they should be pressed out with a special tool).They blame the car, a 2002 Dodge Caravan for the stud issue, but we've had it for 12 years and never had a problem until we took the car to discount. So I've been using Discount Tire for many years and have historically been appreciative of their service as they are fairly fast and offer good prices, although I find they try to sell higher quality tires you don't need; going down one or two steps in quality can save a lot of money. My big issue arose when I was driving back Steven's Pass after a day of skiing and noticed my Subaru was making an awful noise. Come to find out, they didn't tighten the lug nuts on three of the wheels after I had them rotated! The manager at first tried to blow it off by stating "we have very set procedures," but quickly came to the realization that all of the lug nuts on three wheels don't mysteriously come lose. After this, he quickly checked the auto for damage (thankfully there was none as I caught it before the wheels came off at 70 mph) and was very apologetic. But in the end, speedy, cheaper, and friendly service do nothing when you put your customer's life at risk! Moral of this review- always check your lug nuts when getting service from Discount Tire. read more

I brought my car into Discount Tires to check a slow leak and because they advertised they provide free flat tire repair. I should have known that was too good to be true. . They told me the leak was coming from a previous pull-thru plug - and they couldn't repair it - because it would be unsafe and against company policy. I questioned that and said I had had half dozen plugged tires over past 15 years and they were performed fine. They convinced me it was unsafe so I bought a new tire. My old tire only had 13,000 miles on it so I took it with me. I called Les Schwab and they said usually they absolutely could repair such a leaky plug but would have to look at the tire to be sure and it would cost $13 for their repair. I took the tire in and dropped it off for 1.5 hrs while I went shopping. When I came back they said the tire was good as new and they had installed a new plug complete with a very solid vulcanized patch inside the tire at the end of the plug. I went to pay the $13 and the nice lady at the counter said - 'it's no charge - just consider us when you need new tires." All-in-all - very impressive customer service, very nice people, and much better than dealing with Discount Tire - where it seems to me that they use their free flat tire repair come-on as a way to scare you into believing you have an unsafe tire so they can sell you a new tire. Thank you Les Schwab for being honest and responsive! I'll certainly put Les Schwab way ahead of Discount Tire whether I have a flat tire or need new tires in the future. read more

I had a nail in one of my tires which needed to be resolved immediately due to the dangers of fit causing a blow out. I called to set up an appt after looking for the tire I needed - their system does the work for you offering options for your vehicle type - and pricing. After comparing to others, I went with Discount Tire. You can set up the appt on line preventing long waits. They get a lot of walk ins so definitely do this. You can also pre-order tires if not in stock. If you can help it, don't go on a Saturday. Even with an appt it will still take 45 min - 1 1/2 hours. Shopping around or bring a book or work to do. Waiting area is ok. Free coffee. All in all for the price awesome especially given they offer lifetime warranty (additional cost which is nominal) so if I get another nail, tire replacement is free. Also, free rotation and balance for as long as you own the tires. In the end, services replace cost of tires. Definitely recommend and with lots of locations, can't beat it. People are really friendly and knowledgeable too. read more

I hadn't bought tires in a few years so I did some online research beforehand. I last went to a Les Schwab and had an ok experience, but since then I've become a Costco member and was just about to pull the trigger and go there for tires (for supposed cost savings). But I realized the selection of tires they had was rather limited, it was not convenient for me, and surprisingly Discount Tires had better deals on Michelin tires than Costco. This one in Northgate seemed to get a lot of thumbs up and I since I could easily make an appointment online, I went with them (for Michelins for my Toyota Camry). And I'm VERY glad I did. They have a very nice and attentive staff, I had perhaps the shortest wait time I've ever had for a car servicing (shorter than predicted), great deal on some of the best tires around, and it's pretty easy for me to get there. All good reasons for me to recommend these guys and when the time comes again that I'll need new tires, Discount Tires will definitely be my first consideration. read more

A few years ago I bought a set of snow tires from this Discount Tire and every winter and spring I pay them a visit to switch them with my summer set which is completely free. Every time, the people who work there are very courteous, attentive, and quick - every single time. On one visit, after switching to my snow tires they informed me that they fixed a nail in my summer tires that had come new on my car (not bought there). Again, totally for free. When does that happen in this day and age?? I've had an 8am appointment and had them open the doors EARLY unlike other stores these days that won't dare crack open the door until the exact minute of the official opening time! Two days ago I had an appointment to get my snow tires put on for a trip across the pass for Thanksgiving and had to return yesterday to get the pressure sensors reset at around 3pm and the place was packed. I overheard one of the employees tell a woman there was a 22 car backup for walk ins but the guy who had helped me the day before had my sensors reset and me on my way within 25 minutes. Fabulous. So, after many excellent experiences I decided to write this review on Yelp because this store is well run and managed and for once a place that actually values customer service. This store deserves the 5 star review and I wouldn't think of buying tires anywhere else. read more
