I used this service for over seven years while living in Seattle. This is my long-term (and long overdue) review of their service. First, I've always found Ace Auto to be courteous, honest, and clear with communicating the work that my cars needed (a 2013 Camry switching to a 2017 RAV4 Hybrid later). They've always been up-front about what work is critical versus what can be delayed until later. Second, the owners are dedicated to ensuring that cars are repaired and returned in a timely fashion. When COVID hit in 2020, they went in on the weekend to fix my RAV4 all so that I could get my car back on the following Monday as promised (which wasn't actually their fault as a supplier error caused the wrong part to be shipped initially, and the right part only arrived when the shop was about to close on Friday). Third, while the service provided might not be the cheapest, I have NEVER had to take my car back in to get a repair "fixed" because it was done improperly the first time. This was really important to me because my car was my main mode of transportation as a family caregiver. I'm sorry that it took me almost eight years and two different cars to get around to writing this review. Met my brother here to take him to work after dropping his car off. He just needed his winter tires put on. The shop offered the usual upsells, but then the guy said that my brother would need new winter tires next time, because WA state requires new tires every seven years. This didn't sound right, so I double-checked with our WA State Patrol liaison...no such law on the books. I don't mind the upsells, but lying is a red flag. Never bringing my car here. read more

I had a very disappointing experience at ACE Auto Repair and Tire. I brought my vehicle in for a simple inspection and waited far longer than promised with little communication from the staff. When I finally got my car back, the original issue wasn't even fixed properly, and I was quoted a completely different price than what I was told upfront. You know what sucks more than a flat tire? When you go out to your donut-fitted car in the morning, and realize your donut is also underinflated, and the closest air pump to you is out of service. It was a very anxious short drive to the shop, but that was the end of my worries. I dropped the car off around 8:30, and they quoted me about 2-3 hours. However, just 1.5 hours later, they gave me a call and let me know that the flat had been repaired and was all ready to go! Knowing how long it had been since my last tire change, I was fully expecting to have to shell out for a full new set and had even inquired if it could be done on the same day while dropping off. I really appreciated their honesty in not trying to sell me in something I didn't need, and the $30 with tax was a very small price to pay for a seamless flat repair with no hassles. They even followed up to make sure all was well with the car afterwards! read more

Went to these guys in February after I noticed a screw in one tire. They told me I needed four new tires and quoted me $700 for four. They claimed they couldn't let me drive off the lot to shop for other prices because my tread depth was too low and "that's illegal." I have had issues with three tires in six months, including one that was coming apart due to a manufacturer's defect. The tires were covered under warranty, but I still had to pay $80 for the mounting and balancing. A couple of weeks after that, I have issues with a third tire while out of town. I took it to a different chain repair shop while out of town and they patched the tire for free. I will be doing business with them in the future, not with Ace. I don't care if your tires are covered under warranty. I'd rather have a good product the first time! read more

It is with a sad heart that I am writing this report. I have been with Ace Auto for a while now. They've always been very accommodating, great to work with, speedy. However, my last couple of times, haven't been quite so much. Someone tried to steal my car a little over a year ago. Even with full insurance involvement, I ended up paying $1600 out of pocket. I was confused, not really understanding how that came to be, but wanted to trust the process. Flash forward and it happens again. Albeit, with a lot less damage. So I take it in, and they say great, they'll do a courtesy inspection and send out the report. The report spoke to the torn up ignition, the broken window and then other things like bulbs out, some dings. But also, that my front pistons had seized and they recommended replacement of front brakes due to the calipers being locked. I called and got the following quotes: $651 and change for the steering, $660 and change for the window replacement and a loose estimate of $1800-$2000 for the front brake work. Having learned my lesson from last time, I was clear to say, this is the TOTAL estimate, yes? Yes, confirmed. I'd just gotten my brakes done within the last year so I took that off their list so I could take it up with my brake guy. I said go ahead with the steering fix and window. I then called a reco from my brake guy who will replace the window for $300. Ok, so we are off to a bad start on this pricing issue. The steering is fixed and now my bill is $890 (w/tax). Here's my problem: there are always "gotchas" in their invoicing. I was told the inspection was a courtesy, but the invoice says the courtesy inspection was free, but that there was a 2nd theft inspection, that cost $99.98. Then there are these odd add-ons of "shop supplies" and a charge for using a payment method other than cash. I was told the "shop supplies" was their charging me use of their tools. Huh?? I'm a single mom of two who was paying this out of pocket. The communication here is completely full of holes, and you will pay. After discussing this with Trevor, he provided a $40 discount, on an $800+ bill. Be warned, read everything over before you sign anything. I'd signed my car in, only to find it was actually an authorization of the theft inspection charge. Even though it wasn't presented to me that way. They are not at all transparent with the charges they'll impose on you. My advice: shop around. If you do decide to go here, always ask for EVERYTHING in writing before the repair work. Full estimates, not just bits and parts, which is what they will tell you, thinking you'll be paying one price and finding out it's quite a bit more in the end because they only quoted 1 component of the full bill. And my brakes? My brake guy said they were just fine and well over 60%. He tested the calipers and they were fine & functioning. And yes, Trevor used the doctor analogy on me. Found these guys by accident and necessity. Had a car shipped up from out of state and got off the truck completely disabled despite having every part replaced by various mechanics in the state it came from before being shipped. Had a couple mobile mechanics in Seattle come but it kept breaking down. Finally just got my car towed to the nearest place and I'm glad it was Ace! They send photos of everything that's wrong, and rank it from how urgent it is. They really put their all into their work and are sooo friendly. I called into one other two places before Ace and was met with rude customer service so it is nice to have mechanics that don't talk down to you or try to upsell you just because you're a woman which is the experience im used to. Walked in for a tire replacement. I had purchased a tire beforehand and needed someone to make the change. The service was quick and easy. There was no issue with having my tire replaced, and everyone was really kind. This place has really nice facilities if you're looking to wait around for your car to be finished. One thing I was meh about was that I was asked to sign a document without an explanation of the document which turned out to be a financial agreement page. But at the end, Dave explained the procedure really well when it was time to pick up my car. Explaining the questions I had and breaking down the cost of my final payment, which was really helpful. They took no attempts to cover up their covid spreading mouth holes. There was no signage about needing to wear masks and guess what? When employees were hoppin into my ride NO MASKS. My car was in deep trouble and needed a ton of work to get it up and running. Trevor worked with me to figure out what work was needed immediately and saved me money. He didn't try to upsell but also didn't pull any punches about the sad state of my car. VWs are a challenge for most shops but Ace knew what they were doing and have the relationships necessary to get the parts and stuff needed to get you on your way speedily! Great work and no hassle kind of place. No appointment required as it is first come first serve. We called around for a punctured tire; the price of this place was reasonable and it could take us in the same day. We weren't sure at first, as the conversation on the phone was slightly curt; however when we got there, we could see for ourselves that it is a well-run shop. We were quoted 1.5 hours before they could get to our job, and they were finished right around 1.5 hours when we called back to inquire! read more

They even send you pictures and a list in detail of what is running well, suggestions fixings, and what needs attention. I've never experienced that anywhere else. I had a flat tire and brought it here. They reported that my flat tire had to be replaced. The work was fast. They were quiet and not chit chatty which was appropriate. Waiting area was large and clean but I didnt see any free drinks/cookies like at the Greasy monkeys lol no big deal, just simply a comparison. They definitely gave me options so for a person who didnt know much abt cars, might have fell for the trap but thanks to the phone call I made to my hubby, I survived walking out of there with a slightly lighter wallet only. I am a regular customer of Ace Auto Repair & Tire Pros. I highly recommend this company! They are very thorough when performing a diagnostic analysis on your car. I have gone to other local shops. I prefer taking my car to Ace Auto overall. I especially like the detailed written diagnostics that include camera images for visual confirmation toward recommended repairs. Ace Auto also has enclosed fencing around the entire lot. This helps assure me that my car is safe from thieves if parked on the lot overnight. Ace was a good shop prior to Covid. Then the virus took over their brains! Other that a time they lost my appointment and I ended up waiting for an extended period of time, Ace did good work fast. Another shop with a smaller waiting area kept their waiting area open for a max of 3 people while Ace Auto Repair shut their waiting area that is 3x the size without warning. If I had been informed of this prior to arrival for my appointment, I would have made accomodation. Instead, I was treated rudely. If Ace can cite a single instance where I was "a disaster", as they called me in their review reply on CarFax, I'll retract my review. I have done nothing other than buying new tires or get service and paying immediately without argument about the cost (questions on the breakdown of the charges is NOT argument!). If other shops with much smaller waiting rooms have accommodations and would at least tell me they did not so I could make appropriate arrangements, then Ace could have done so too. Instead, I was treated rudely and now their management chooses to lie and smear me to preserve their precious reputation! I will not be returning to Ace for anything but tire rotations only because I bought my tires there! I may end up doing my own despite my bad back just to never see their mean mugs again! read more

We go here for all of our car needs. They are super nice, knowledgeable, fairly priced, and can get us in for day-of appointments most of the time. I don't know much about cars (working on learning more lol) and they never add services/charge things without explaining what it is and whether we truly need it. They're really fast with their service too, and good at estimating how much time it'll take, which is nice for planning when to take your car in. We live nearby and that's how this spot became our go-to, but I would not be surprised if we continued to go here if we move further away. Really appreciate these guys! read more

I have been going to ACE for years now. I always loved how courteous, customer focused and friendly they are. From the transparency of service and costs, to having them deal with Car warranties, and negotiating on your behalf, to checking tire pressures and putting air for free just because you passed by, they always surprise you on each visit. The latest surprise (and the biggest) was this: 1) I had replaced my rear breaks on my ML 350 couple of months ago 2) After 1 month, i started hearing squealing sounds coming from the rear tires. 3) I took it to them last week, asking them to take a quick look and they noticed that the caliper was bad. I had my car extended warranty so i asked them to work w the warranty to get it fixed. At first the warranty company was being difficult, they wanted more and more evidence, and they spent a few hours w them back and forth to get all the evidence they needed and got it approved. It didn't end here. Because of the issue happening a month after i changed my breaks, they were able to get new pads covered as well. Those guys rock, thank you Trevor and Dave! read more

Just did not set right with me .. sending me a long distance like that I had to come from Port Townsend They said trying to save me money My truck was hit by a tow truck driver bringing another car in for repair in ace auto parking lotI went without my only vehicle and had to pay expensive taxis to get my kid to school and tow truck ins estimate was way too low My truck on way home would cut out when I go around corners Also they had taken gas tank off to fix fuel pump Now when I try to put gas in tank.. They are great with tires and I highly recommend them. If you crunch all the numbers they're competitive with big box or discounted tire chains, plus they know their stuff and stand by their products. Their service reps are friendly, efficient, and give really good advice. They will patch your tires for low cost and not try to sell you tires when you don't need them. They do try a bit of upselling if they see something they think you need but I don't mind that as long as it seems well intentioned. They also service more than tires but I think this is where they fall short. I've requested some quotes on service three times and they never end up getting back to me. So I'll just go where they focus on the auto part more than the tire part when I'm out shopping for car service and I'll come to them when I'm looking for tires. I had Ace Auto Repair & Tire Pros replace all 4 tires on my car. I'd become disillusioned with the tires the dealership kept installing. They were overly expensive, had a tendency to go flat as soon as they hit a pothole or scrapped a curb, and one of them was now leaking. I researched my tire options online then called this shop. Two days later it was all done. The final price was inline with other shops but I liked the professionalism when I talked with them and the job was well done. after talking with Dave for fifteen minutes or so, he seemed like a informative nice guy, I decided to pay a little more and get the tires through them. I told them I was busy in the next morning and could we get the tires installed early afternoon at one o'clock they told me no problem. So I ordered them. They called me the next morning the tires were in and I could and I could drop the car off any time. I said you told me that you could get them in the morning and install them a t 1pm. On our way to zipling on Camino Island, in Friday morning rush hour traffic we notice that our back tire is rapidly losing air. We take the nearest exit, we see Ace Auto Repair and head over with 6 pds of pressure left. They got us right in, patched our tire AND DID IT FOR FREE! All in less than 30 mins! I had a bolt lodged in my tire and needed a place to do the repair. I found Ace on Google and saw that they had exceptional reviews. I came in the next morning right when they opened and asked if they could help. They took my car in right away and 30 minutes later they had my tire repaired and rotated all 4. I have to mark down these guys a little bit. They ordered the wrong size of tire for my wife's car, and I was surprised by that because they claimed they specialized in tires. This mistake delayed several hours to pick up the car, and they were rude on the phone to my wife and no apology until we picked up the car. After the tires matter, I had them do oil change for my car, and it seemed ok. The service was quick. What I comment was their attitude on the phone could been better, and they seemed to know well about the car, but the unprofessional thing of wrong size tire made me doubt that. I was quoted for over $2,200.00 of brake work, alignment, and strut work on my 2012 Outback by Ace Auto Repair & Tire Pros in Lake City. I had my car assessed by several other shops, including a Subaru dealership in Ballard, who found nothing wrong with any of the quoted items. I was lied to by the the gentleman working the front desk that my break pads were at 2mm. Subaru Ballard found my front pads to be at 6mm and back to be at 8mm and stated that much of the suggest work was unnecessary or inaccurate. I will never use this shop again. Wow. I do most of my own simple auto repairs, but was in a situation where I had to get my car fixed immediately, at any cost. It was overheating, which is the worse thing an engine can do. Long story short, I dropped off my car late on a Friday (5pm) and they had it diagnosed, repaired and ready to roll out by 11am the next day. Dave and his crew are professional, transparent, honest, and chock full of integrity. There were other issues that were going on with my Jeep, and I knew about a couple of them. Dave let me know what I should tackle first, and the way he relayed it showed that he was more interested in the safety of myself and my rig, and not just making a sale. I had the best experience at Ace auto repair. I just went in for an oil change, but found a place I will return to if I need more serious repairs. First off, the place is clean. Maybe this is just important to chicks, but it gives me more confidence when I'm dropping my car off. Both when I went in to inquire if they could do synthetics, and when I dropped my car off, I was greeted right away by a friendly person who listened and took his time. Then, the price of the service was better than the oil change places. Since it was my first visit, I also received a $25 coupon for my next visit. This business knows customer service.
