I'm a bit of a nerd about tires. I always run snow tires in winter and switch to summer tires around late April. I also like getting a good deal. This Discount Tire location is amazing. They routinely over-deliver on service. To the point where I've almost come to take it for granted. I've lost count of the number of times I've been here now. We have two cars, plus a horse trailer. Today I needed to rotate my truck tires and put new wheels and tires on the trailer. Work was done quickly, the guys doing the work kept me updated on everything, and not only were the TPMS sensors all sorted out, they were re-initialized so when I left everything worked perfectly. Yeah, that should be routine, but I can tell you it is not. I drive past another Discount Tire location, plus numerous other tire dealers just to visit this one. This is one of these times I'm so glad I bought my tires at America's Tire, which is what Discount Tires is known as in California. I dunno why the name difference, but that's what it is and they honor all the warranties and flat fixing at all the stores no matter where you purchased them. I'm traveling on the 80 and my low pressure warning light comes on. On CRAP, not right now! I'm traveling with my crew in another vehicle and I tell them I gotta stop and check my tires. I do know there's a Discount tire near me sort of in Sparks. I GPS my way over there and pull in. Lucky there no big line .... I get the front desk guy and tell him my situation, traveling and my tire has low pressure. My guys wait in the lot with the Suburban and I have the tire guy take a look and test the pressure. Yep, got a flat, like a screw or something. They know I'm traveling, so they take my right away and pull my car in. Looking me up on the computer, they know I got the tires from America's Tire. Even though I was just a walk-in and the wait was a bit long, it was completely understandable. A gentleman helped me out and checked everything on my tires. We made an appointment in advance for the "free" rotation on the tires we previously purchased. In past experiences when we made appointments we get in pretty fast. After standing in line for twenty minutes to check in, we were told that appointments can go for up to 1.5 hours. This has never been the case previously. We decided to leave and in the future buy our tires elsewhere. The person we talked to was polite, but kept repeating that he was having a busy day, we felt that since we made an appointment in advance and we come from over 30 miles away that we should have been worked in first. I went to Discount Tire last week. As the weather gets colder it's time to get a little extra air in the tires. I pulled in like I normally do and waited. After 10 minutes of seeing lots of employees running around and working hard. I decided to call into the office. The call was answered, and I found out that it's the staff inside the office that will come out and put air in tires. So, I would suggest calling if no one comes over to put air in your tires. I would like to say that I've been to that store many times and had outstanding service. If fact that tires that I have on my car I purchased there. This was the first time I ever had to call to get someone to come check the air in my tires. So just a heads up that you might have to call to get service. Overall, this store has provided me good service, so just a suggestion. I think that the store should probably have a sign that tells you to call if no one comes to assist. Just a thought. read more

I had to get all four of my tires replaced and Discount Tire made it super simple. I just ordered them online and scheduled an appointment. They even called me to let me know that I could come in sooner as a walk-in if needed which I found to be extremely helpful. The drop-off and pick-up process was easy too since they have it set up to track the progress of the service from your phone. Note to the management: Thank you for having such an empathetic staff willing to accommodate emergencies and taking care of your clientele I bought a set of tires from your business last year and had a screw on my side wall of my tire in a spot that couldn't be patched or repaired.... I had to be at a dinner in 30 minutes for a company event. Your staff got me in and out with a solution that didn't break my bank, as well as got me to my dinner in a reasonable time. Ray and your staff were accommodating, friendly, knowledgeable, and were able to work with me on my situation. I would like to formally express my concern regarding a recent experience at the Discount Tire location in Sparks, Nevada (Los Altos). Unfortunately, this visit highlighted a number of operational and communication issues that are unacceptable for a business of this nature. I dropped off my vehicle at 11:00 AM and was advised that the service would be completed by 4:30 PM. However, I later learned from LeasePlan--our vehicle service payment provider--that the service order was not submitted by the store until 3:08 PM. This delay indicates a significant lack of process efficiency and attention to detail. Additionally, my repeated attempts to get status updates throughout the day were met with poor communication. Calls were answered only to be immediately placed on indefinite hold, and it became apparent that staff struggled with basic use of their operating systems. Due to this unacceptable level of service and lack of professionalism, this location will no longer be authorized to service vehicles through LeasePlan on our behalf. I sincerely hope this feedback is taken seriously and used to drive improvement in both customer service and operational standards. read more

Well, I walked in yesterday, 2 guys standing around, 1 on the phone. I stood there for 5 minutes, Phone rang, so instead of him saying he had a customer waiting, he proceeded to help the person on the phone, which I thought was extremely rude. I was there before the phone call so why wasn't I helped before he answered the phone? Extremely disrespectful to a customer that was there before the phone call. I had a screw in my tire, so my husband brought the tire in, and left it there, it was done pretty quickly. After we got home and he put the tire on my car, we noticed that my valve stem cover was not put back on it, and it's the NS one for nitrous oxide I think. My rim is really damaged also, and I've never hit a curb, and it's a brand new car. We are going back in there today because I am not going to tolerate my rim being extremely damaged. All I can say is Thank you. A five Star Tire Service company. I bought 4 new tires last year from Discount Tire. I was in their computer system. I was driving on the freeway when I watched my left front tire roll over a large piece of wood. I knew it was not going to be good. My tire blew out and I hobbled to the nugget. I called Discount tire to ask if they had my tire size...which is a special size. They said no, but they would over me a tire and it should be here tomorrow, which was Saturday. I asked if I should pay them, and they said No!!! What??? My tire was ordered. A lovely girl named Pearl and Paul her trainee with AAA emergency road service came to rescue me and Pearl fixed my tire. Incredible! Then I drove over on the donut tire and discount tire took the wheel out of my car so when my tire arrived, it would be all ready for me. I came in on Saturday because...YES my new tire came in. The amazing guys put on my new tire. I then did warranties in all 4 tires since they were still new and now my tires are protected. I want to thank Troy for ordering my tire with no money. Thank Jeremy for taking my wheel out of my car. Thank Chris for putting in my new tire. Thank Kennedy for adding new warranties on all 4 tires and cashing me out with a great personality. Purchased 6 new tires online and shipped to this location. Appointment made to install. Shop was instructed to use the 'best of the old tires' for the spare. They forgot to do spare, I had to remind them as they were finishing up. Come to discover that the 6 new tires, all of them had different valve stems. Had to make a 2nd appointment to address this issue. Tony was most responsive to my disappointment in this Discount Tire location in Sparks on Los Altos. I've done business with Discount Tire in Yuma Arizona and Las Vegas Nevada in the past couple years with zero issues. Thanks to Tony AND CHRIS, my issue with the different valve stems on all 6 tires was resolved. I went here Saturday, and they were closed for their annual employee appreciation day. Kudos on that. I can always come back another time. Here's why I only gave them three stars as they really are a stellar company. And I don't know if they ever read these reviews, but this one change that I am offering would change their whole landscape. Here's what it is. As a customer, when you go in there, you are a subjected to hearing the phone ring off the hook. And the guys at the front counter are subjected to dealing with the phone and the public. Noise pollution is a real thing and why subject your employees and your customers to a constantly ringing phone is beyond me. This is cruel to both of us when you could just hire somebody with a headset and deal with the people that call in. No one ever has to hear a phone ringing . That one tiny thing would change how I feel about this place. Because the other thing is this, I've seen them go to two or three calls before they get to the next person in line. They don't go back-and-forth or they lose track, it's not fair to anyone. If I ran this business it would be the first thing I did. They have some really good employees that get put under duress because of this. I noticed they have a high turnover rate. What do you wanna bet that a bunch of them got sick of dealing with the noise pollution, that phone is really bad on one's concentration. Anyway, my two cents. On the positive side these guys are completely reliable, and if you're traveling into California they have another name, I think it's America's tires. They've taken care of me on the road for years. We've been shopping around the past week for new tires for our Subaru. We receive lots of quotes, ranging all the up to $1500 for a set of new tires. We called Discount Tire a few days ago and they hands down had the best prices out of all the shops we called. They quoted us for two sets of tires one priced at $450, which was the lowest price around for that quality of tires. We went with another set of tires that the associates recommended, but they were also very reasonably priced. We scheduled an appointment for 3pm, but ended up dropping off our car in the morning. They checked us in very quickly and our car was ready within an hour and half! Pickup took a little longer, as it was a peak time for them. I had stopped by Discount Tire in Sparks a few months ago because Les Schwab told me I need it all new tires. I talked to Nate that day and he confirmed that I have a lot of life left in my tires and I don't need to replace them. Fast forward to last week, where I picked up a construction staple in my tire that was unrepairable. I have never purchased or done business with Discount tires previously. I again worked with Nate to purchase my tires, he was very informative and patient with explaining all the options including the ratings of the tires. Our household is my husband and I, two cats, and four cars. That means we have a lot of opportunities to buy tires. It's a pleasure to go to this Discount Tire location. Everyone on staff with whom we have interacted, from the service coordinators to the tire technicians, is friendly and competent. My husband and I are especially big fans of Jordan because he has a great sense of a humor and he takes a genuine interest in what my husband is doing with his cars. I bought tires from the South Reno location in December 2015, and by December 2018 they were wearing a little thin. Discount Tire honors all of the manufacturer tire mileage warranties, and since my tires were supposed to last me more miles than they did, the Los Altos location took off $263 from the bill from my new tires. They rotate and balance the tires purchased from their stores for free for the life of the tires, and it's easy to schedule an appointment or drop in for the service. This location is one of the cleanest, most aesthetically pleasing car service centers I have ever visited. The building is new, the fridge is stocked with complimentary bottled water, and the seating area is comfortable. You can also sit at the bar-style counter and watch the cars being served. Best of all, this location doesn't have a TV. Those of us who hate the background noise of cable TV rejoice! I usually bring a book to read or work to do on my laptop, but the system will also automatically text you when your car is ready if you want to wait elsewhere or walk to do errands. A reminder: Discount Tire does not do oil changes. The store name should give it away, but I swear, I have had to look up so many times to see if I can get my oil changed here (I can't). But if I could, I sure would, because I feel so positively about this particular Discount Tire location! read more

If I could give no stars I would. My husband ordered a set of tires for my truck, not knowing they did not have the speed rating for my truck. He's not a tire guy or a mechanic. Unfortunately I did have to call and cancel the order. I had to call a half dozen times and kept getting put on hold for 15 minutes or more at a time before I just hung up. Once these guys knew I was canceling the order they gave me the worst service. The guy that answered was rude and like hung up on me as soon as he confirmed it was canceled. I bought some Mickey Thompson tires 35's to be exact,cost me 2200 dollars. 5k miles later I take them to get rotated. Discount tires tells me to wait another 5k miles because my rear tires haven't worn down enough, due to my truck being a single axle truck. What?!!! I have never heard this before. So I drove to Les Schwab and the service I got from them was above and beyond. Les Schwab said all my tires were wearing down evenly. They didn't hesitate at all to rotate my tires. Over the years we've bought many sets of tires from various Discount Tire locations. We've always been very happy. This particular location is my favorite so far. I forget his name but the Manager here is awesome, and good management tends to mean good experience all the way down the line. We recently bought a new Subaru and I was shocked to discover Subaru recommended NOT to use chains. A bit of a problem if you want to be safe and be allowed to cross some passes that can require chains at least be carried. I resolved that I should get educated so I went in to Discount and waited to speak with the manager. I asked if I SHOULD buy new BETTER tires...the tires that come on the new care are rated mud and snow but very "highly" rated. He explained all my options and ULTIMATELY helped me feel good about keeping my existing, almost new tires. Then he went online and got me info on which chains I CAN use on my car and where to buy them. He spent time with me. I feel he was more interested in HELPING me than in selling me anything. I've felt like this with other Discount Tire locations. But this particular manager really is the best of the best! After I was completely educated he sent me out to have my tires aired up...for FREE...a service they offer EVERYONE...not just people who buy tires from them. You just pull into their lane and someone airs up your tires. These guys do business right. I'm not anxious to spend money for new tires but when I'm ready I'll be back to buy them at THIS location. I've been going to Discount Tire for the entire life of my cars. Always professional and courteous service, Las Vegas and Reno, Sparks. Their service and warranty is the best. They're pretty much busy, so just be patient. This is a great location for auto service, so if waiting there, you have plenty of eating places to hang out and have lunch or relax. Just ordered my second set of custom wheels from Discount Tire after about 9 years of the chromes pictured and had new rears Nitto 555 G2's installed. I don't give out 5 Star ratings easily, ..very particular about my cars. If I'm not happy with quality or service, I wouldn't hesitate letting others know.
