I just love Les Schwab on Los Altos in Sparks. Every time I've had a brake, alignment or tire concern, this is my go to location. I honestly cant believe I've never left a review before. Professional, Friendly and Efficient is Les Schwab in Sparks! I bought tires and had my rotors replaced in November and now, when I brake my car had a pulsating motion. I brought it to Les Schwab and the technician inspected and confirmed the uneven wear on my front rotors and resurfaced them, and it was free of charge because it was covered by the guarantee. When I brake now my car stops smoothly and my worries have been resolved. I trust Les Schwab to take care of me and get me and my car back on the road safely. read more

I had an appointment today to get my tires rotated knowing that this particular set of tires looked to be close to the end of their lifespan. Jered came out to my truck and we talked briefly about the rotation appointment and he quickly looked at the wear on the tires. He said he wanted to take the truck into the shop and look at the tires closer while we checked in at the desk. I expected I would need to replace them before winter. Jered explained that the tires were not wearing well even though they only had approximately 26,000 miles on them and were rated for 60,000. He also acknowledged that we had been in every 5,000 miles to get the tires rotated. He explained to us that Les Schwab would credit me about 60% for each tire if I purchased a new set since they only lasted for about 40% of the life expectancy. I've bought tires from Les Schwab in the past and never realized this!  I was very happy when Jared told me what the credit was toward a new set of tires of my choice. He helped me choose a more aggressive tire and my truck was ready to go in less than 2 hours. I've always been a fan of Les Schwab but this experience reminds me why I keep coming back. Jered was great to work with! Note - Jared did tell me that alignment should be done once a year and they offer free alignment checks. This likely would have helped my tires last longer. I commented they should say something when I come in for the tire rotations and it would have saved both of us money. We will return and recommend this location to others. read more

I attempted to drop my car off for a tire rotation at the location closer to the Legends Shopping Center but as been the case lately, it would've been a 2.5 hour wait. I ended up declining and leaving...frustrated. I called this location (my usual) and asked how long it would be for a tire rotation and I was told about 45 minutes. Perfect! We arrived, checked in, and hung out at the tables as they worked on my vehicle. They ended up doing better than quoted and had my vehicle ready to go in about 30 minutes. They also checked for wear and made sure my brakes were good to go before signing me off. Not sure if it's because of Covid or not but the last few times I've been here they haven't done that bit where they come outside to greet you. It's not a huge deal, just an observation. This tire company helped me a few times when i came here in Reno and bought my house in Sparks. They filled up the air in the tires on my '66 Caprice for free and plugged a hole from a screw i had in the front tire of my '64 Chevy truck for free! The plug lasted a good amount of time but then the tire started to leak and they patched it for free again!! i never even bought tires from them before! They were so nice to me that i never forgot it and bought new tires from them for my truck later! Theis company had incredible customer service for people!! On 10-18-22 i had them replace all the tires on my truck to LT245/75R-16/10 120/116S Pinza AT...one being a spare underneath the bed. i did this tire change for the winter. They did a good job and did everything i asked them to...let me drive it on the rack, for them to put stick-on weights on the inside of the rims, and torque the Gorilla Lug Nuts by hand. They a great bunch of professionals that work at this place! i'm still waiting for my $100 rebate to come in the mail though...ha ha. read more

I brought in a flat tire to have fixed, the wait was several hours so I went hone a waited. When they called me I was told that they couldn't and wouldn't repair it because the treads were showing. I came and picked it up the following morning. They had taken my tire off the rim. Long story short, my son plugged the leak and and stated no treads were showing and now I have to have it balanced. Ok, here's the deal. I've always always used Les Schwab for my tire needs. They've always done a great job, they're everywhere so it's convenient to find one, and generally they're super friendly. In fact, the location in winnemucca went above and beyond for me one time many years ago and I decided then and there that I would always be a loyal Les Schwab customer. And I have! However, I've gotta say, this location is my least favorite one. The lady who was working at the front desk was about as friendly as a crocodile. Ah, shame on me. That's mean and possibly unfair to crocodiles. First of all, she didn't have a smile to greet me with, or even a pleasant face. Look, i get it. I have RBF too. So I make an effort to not look like I want to slap people for existing. Also, can a woman mansplain? If so, she did. I was there for a seasonal tire change out. I brought my normal tires with me. They're in bags in my car. After a weird back and forth about whether or not the tires I brought have their own set of rims (they're in bags; I have not seen them so can't answer her with 100% assurance), she gets this look like, ok I need to dumb it down for this lady, and says "you know the middle part of the tire? Inside the middle of the rubber part? That's a rim." At this point I'm like, dude, not cool. "Yeah I know what rims are. My tires are inside bags. I did not look inside the bags so I can't say with absolute certainty either way." I think she realized she'd crossed a line because she said something about how it'll just take longer if they're not on rims already. Oooook, well, this is a drop off appointment so... take as much time as necessary. I've never been asked about rims before over all these years of going to Les Schwab. This location sold me the snow tires and put them on several months ago, so why is this information not already available to them? In the end, the tires got changed out- and it was actually really quick despite the fact that they didn't have their own rims!!!- and thank goodness a different and much nicer lady was at the desk when I went to pick up because I was already dreading interacting with that other one. I needed to get a wheel alignment with a chance that there could be more damage to the wheel and/or suspension. After trying to book online with no appointments available for two days, I decided to call. My call was answered by Mike 1.5 hours before they opened. This was a surprise to me since most businesses will not answer the phone until it is open. Mike scheduled me at a time that worked for me and was so pleasant on the phone as I explained my situation. When I arrived, I was greeted and checked in right away also with a smile. I was told it would take 45 minutes to an hour which it was exactly that amount of time. I waited in their waiting room and enjoyed freshly made popcorn. I had my iPad so I could work while I waited and free WiFi was available. Mike came out and explained everything in detail and provided the best option without breaking the bank. Brought my pick up in for a rotation and balance. I have a clicking noise coming from one of the fake beauty rings that required a special toll to tighten. I asked if they could do that if I get the tires rotated and balanced if they could tighten the rings. Of course they said yes. I paid tgec14.99 per wheel to get it done. Left on my weekend trip and noticed one of the wheels was still making noise. When I returned on Monday I stopped by to have them look into it. I was told by the tech that met me in the parking lot that they don't mess with those things. Do, I now made an appointment with a nearby tire store who told me that what I was told was BS and that Les Schwab Tire Store was not interested in helping me since they already got my money for the rotation and didn't care about anything else not related to selling me anything. This place is awesome, I went in this morning with a back right truck tire very low from a nail, it was not very busy and they got me right in and I was in and out of there within 30 minutes and very friendly staff. I left and noticed the front right tire low, they said it would reset, and then by the time I went shopping it dropped to 30% in the tire, went back and that tire was fixed and again very fast very. 2 tires in one morning. This was an absolute horror story of an experience. I purchased a 7 year battery for my ford explorer limited in 2021 and it came with a warranty . [[HIGHLIGHT]]The battery warning light started flashing and my wife called and spoke with Santos. Santos told her to bring it down, they were not too busy and stated they don't do alternators (sp) but would recommend a shop.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We're in Reno so it's a drive but not too far. The car made it there. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Santos was not there but a woman took the information and recommended Greg's garage.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]](if you know Greg's you know there is no "in/out" they are always busy. By the time the tech had come to move into a bay, the battery was dead. He brought out a hand held jumper and after starting he went to move the car but the trans was locked in park. At this point we called a tow truck and [[HIGHLIGHT]]a tech came out, identified himself as the manager, and wanted us to explain what was happening. His offer to remedy and help was to put in a new battery, which was agreed too.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] After a long period he came over and checked the battery and then left but returned with a batter on a cart. He stated that the manufacturer recommended both batteries but this was smaller. Just for information my cars battery is placed in a nice cabinet which is a safety measure, as much as it is a detail design. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He proceeded to tell me these batteries were "the same" and at this point rather perturbed started loudly telling me he was being nice and I should be also, I didn't need to use "trickery on him".[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I explained being factual isn't trickery and these two batteries were not the same. He calmed down and said they were the same cranking power and he didn't have my battery in stock. what should have happened at this point is "I'll install this battery and when I get your battery replacement I'll call you and swap them out" That's the law with warranties. " Not that I want a battery that doesn't fit but I started looking up the battery needed for a replacement and it stated 65 650. The old battery was labeled 65 xt jci, the new battery is labeled 34ft xt. .?? read more

I have always been a big fan of Les Schwab. My first experience was with the one in South Reno, which I have already reviewed. My second was with the one on Prater - I was less impressed with that one but this time visiting the one on Los Altos and they blew my mind!!!!! My husband picked up a nail in his car and borrowed mine to go to work incase he started deflating. Seeing how I had the day off I took his car to the Los Altos location and was BLOWN AWAY by the customer service I received before I even got out of my car. When I pulled into the parking lot I turned off my car and saw a young man standing next to my car. His name was ANTHONY. He was smiling and when I got out he greeted me with warmth and enthusiasm asking how he can help. I explained the situation and he told me it was not a problem, took the keys and told me they would get me fixed up and on my way in no time!!! The entire time he was very genuine and smiling. I got the sense that he loved his job and really wanted to help me. That was awesome - best customer service right off the bat that I have encountered in a long time. The team inside were also very helpful and enthusiastic. The waiting area is clean and pleasant with food, coffee, TV, beverage and magazines. I love that Les Schwab will help people in need free of charge by fixing a flat for them. They just ask you to "tell your friends" and believe you me - I have told many people to go there for all their car needs. My brakes went out suddenly and dramatically when I was leaving the gym. It was late in the afternoon and AAA was 3 hrs plus for a tow. I had it towed yesterday am to Les Schwab on S Los Altos. I had no appt but they agreed to look at it. Within 30 min they diagnosed the problem, front brakes shot plus needed rotors and calipers. An hour and a half later it was done. The cost, $568. Our car, an Aveo 2005, was leaking. My husband took it into Les Schwab, at 501 Los Altos Pkwy, Spanish Springs, NV, 89436 to have it checked. He was told that the brake cylinder needed to be replaced. We paid $637.33 on 2-20-24 for a master cylinder and bleed, flush and installation. The car continued to leak. He took it back and was told a hose wasn't connected. It continued leaking. He brought it back again and spoke with a manager. This time he was told that the water pump needed to be replaced, and they don't do water pumps. We had the water pump replaced elsewhere on 3-1-24. The leaking has stopped. Was the replacement of the brake cylinder necessary?? Was the water pump damaged when the brake cylinder was repaired? Overall, an unsatisfactory experience, unanswered questions and a total cost of $1700. read more

I got my tire repaired at a different repair shop after a run in with a curb because it was under warranty there. As it was faster to bring in my tire loose and let them have it return it to me loose I was left driving around on a spare. After the collision, I needed an alignment anyway, so I took it to this Les Schwab location to see if they would swap the spare with the repaired tire in the trunk and then do an alignment. I got halfway through explain the situation to the receptionist when one of the mechanics cut in. Telling me that they do not do alignments on cars with donuts/spares. He then cut me off twice more and raising his voice when I tried to explain the full story. Eventually, I managed to explain that I did not expect them to do an alignment with a spare tire, and the mechanic walked away. I really should have walked away too at that point. That very same mechanic was the one who was doing my alignment. Who told me once my car was on the rack that my collision with the curb had resulted in bending my lower control arm, steering knuckle, and tire rod at which point he gave me an estimate for what he thought the price would be. It was at that point that I walked away because at least they had swapped the tire so I was not driving on a spare in the snow. Once the snow melt in the sun came out a few days later I was able to lift the car myself and look for the suppose damage. Nothing was bent.; my tie rod was worn and just needed to be replaced. It took me less than two hours, including the time to get the tools and parts, to get it fixed myself. Not coming back here again. read more

I have been having trouble with the tire pressure on my 2020 Hyundai Veloster N. Drivers side front tire keeps leaking down, the dealer kept telling me there was nothing wrong. I am driving to Phoenix next week and did not want to risk it, Shawn helped me out. he found a tiny nail in the tred right at the sidewall, he patched it but did warn me that being that close to the sidewall, it could be a problem. I decided to order a new tire before my trip, Shawn was very helpful, phoned around to find a nedw tire. I took my truck in to get an inspection regarding squeaks I've been hearing before I go on a trip. Another shop gave me a quote of $2500 dollars to replace several suspension components they claimed was the cause. One of the techs at Les Schwab, I'm not sure of his name, pointed out a shock strut was missing a bushing and he replaced it with one and recommended I grease it to help get rid of the noise. Checked everything else such as brakes, tires and my suspension. Good to go. I'm so grateful I came to Les Schwab yesterday to have them check it out because I truly believed my vehicle was due for a costly repair which would have required both money I don't have and time I can't give. read more

I had my tires rotated at Costco when they told me that my lug nuts where swollen on my Ford Fusion. After researching the issue, I discovered that this was an unfortunate, but common experience for certain Ford owners, Ford Fusion owners being included in that list. Since the design of the capped Ford lug nuts are the issue there was no way that I was going to the dealership to get more Ford Lug nuts installed at a quoted $247.00 price tag, just to have them swell again in a few years (I'm not stupid!). As a result, I was looking online to order solid lug nuts and was planning to install them myself. However, I just called Les Schwab for a price comparison basically, but when I found out they were charging the nearly same for lug nuts (with free installation) as the online company I was about to purchase them from - I leaped at the opportunity. Upon arriving, I was told that the price I was given over the phone was wrong, the actual solid lug nuts I needed were $2.00 cheaper - I was extremely happy. They replaced all the lug nuts in less than 10 minutes for about 1/4 of the quoted dealership price. Moreover, (women will know what I mean) I wasn't told my brake pads were failing, my so and so needed to be replaced immediately, they did the job I wanted them to do and didn't lie to me to try to get me to do extra work - VERY HAPPY ABOUT THEIR HONESTY! I get so sick of mechanic shops lying to my face about "needed" repairs. Lastly, the shop was clean, everyone was very friendly, and professional. I would 110% recommend them. read more
