Purchase several units from DTWR.com ( https://discounttwo-wayradio.com/ ) The product they recommended ( RDR2500 Professional Handheld Two-Way Radio ) arrived 13 weeks late but that was just the start. Long story short; over 9 months into it and I still can't use any of the 9 units purchased. The owner Ben Burns called me and told me that it is a free country and I can take my business somewhere else !!!! I am not sure how other feels; but that kind of product quality on top of the owners terrible manners makes this a "less than desirable" venue to purchase from. read more

In May 2022 I placed a decent size order with them. They just called me couple of days ago telling me in spite of the CC charge they see they can't find my order !!! One of the reps privately told me that they just send the order to their Canadian wholesaler. And than there is CEO. Now he is totally indifferent to any complaint. Here's what you need to know before you buy a two way radio... Number one, don't go to a big box store. You'll end up settling with a off the shelf pack of two or three just to find out they have crappy reception and the batterys stop holding a charge. It's just going to piss you off and cause you to throw your crappy cheap two way through a window, now you have to fix a window and buy a new radio. Save yourself a whole bunch of time and money, call these guys. Seriously, they know radios. I dont know radios so i relied on them to point me to the right radio for my business. Had items at shop unlike others from which I had to order it and get it shipped. But sadly that is the only reason I purchased from dtwr. After telling the guy that I wanted to buy a mobile antenna with gain and hook it up to a handheld via bnc adapter(already had the adapter) I was told that they only had 2 antennas to choose from. One had no gain and the other had 3db. Ok so I went with the 3db one. Then the guy attempted to show me how an antenna with gain works by using the balloon method. Not even at one point did he ask me anything about the operation area of the antennas use to see what antenna would work best. He brought the radio with bnc adapter back to show the tech what I wanted and the tech told him that the adapter I had wouldn't work(yes I've used it before with good results). So the tech handed him the supposed right adapter. Was told mine wouldn't work but luckily they had one that would but at 20$ I wouldn't dare buy it. Guy said only 5$ above cost. Finally explaining to the guy that the adapter I bought was from a dealer that sold only icom parts for icom radios. So he took the radio and adapter back to the tech who tested it and hey it worked perfectly. While I did purchase what I came for and was able to get it that day. I refuse to buy from any shop that where the employees try to act like they know about radios. I'm not an expert but I do know enough. On the ranch we needed a dependable radio that would withstand adverse weather conditions. Discount Two-Way Radios recommended Alpha One, which featured being waterproof. Suspecting that waterproof really meant water resistant and doubting we'd ever put it to test in the dry mountains we purchased two Alpha Ones. A few days after receipt I was at the barn filling up a bucket at the water trough and inadvertently dropped my new Alpha One in three feet of trough water. After four seconds of frantically searching, I found the radio, and immediately took out the battery, finding it totally dry. Blowing water out of the mic, I called headquarters and received a confirmation voice response. And it continues to work perfectly. Waterproof means waterproof. read more

Needed to 8 additional radios for my Church Fundraiser the next morning. Called Bearcom, Advanced Electronics, then SJM and it was like trying to dig a hole with a spoon. Either the rep wasn't in, they didn't have anything in-stock, etc. Out of desperation, I finally called Discount Two-Way. They answered the phone right away, but didn't have the model I had in-stock. However, Anthony the sales rep, recommended a newer model that would work perfectly with what my church already purchased, and I could pick them up that day! Ordered an antenna from them, and received a call the next day confirming that I had ordered the right part. I confirmed to the employee that I had ordered the right part, and he stated that the order would be shipped that day. Two weeks later, having not received the item, I called to check on the status of the order. Sergio informed me that there had been an antenna set aside for my order, but it was needed for another order so it was given to someone else. My antenna was back ordered for another two weeks, and on top of that they had changed my order to a different part number. I began explaining that I not happy that I had not been notified of the back order and that the part number was changed without my approval, to which Sergio began attempting to interrupt me and insist that the different part number "was the same specs". He also took exception to my comment regarding their priorities for taking a product set aside for my order and giving it to another customer who apparently was more important than me. Sergio continued to be rude and I insisted on a refund. I hung up and called back to request to speak to a manager, and was greeted by Sergio again. I told him to transfer me to his manager, which he did. The manager then listened to my concerns for a few minutes before hanging up on me with very little comment and no attempt to improve my experience. I would not recommend purchasing your radios from these people. I purchased 3 radios from them, two were purchased in 2010 and one in 2011, one was not working so I called them and Lynne said they were still under warranty so she connected me to repair and they advised me how to send them to get repaired. She looked up my account and assured me they were under warranty. Couple days later I get a phone call saying they are NOT under warranty and sorry for the misunderstanding-misunderstanding? Really? Not on my part, sorry, Lynne assured me they were under warranty. Also said $50 for repair, I was furious, obviously their wonderful employees do not know how to do their job. And of course she had no recollection of our conversation-OF COURSE NOT! Sergio called me and I was furious when he told me I would have to pay $50 for repair after HIS employee assured me the radios were still under warranty,I asked to speak to his boss and do you believe he tells me there is no one else but him? After arguing he gave me Anthony's number who then advised me not only $50 to repair the radio but additional money for a new battery-so bottom line-purchase your radios elsewhere, they rope you into sending your radio for repair when they know full well it is not under warranty only to tell you it costs as much as a new radio to repair, but wait-Anthony offered me a whopping $25 off a new radio, see the pattern here.....I told him to keep the radio and I will not do business with them in the future, know what he said? He said OK ! Great customer service, huh? Does he care they are losing a customer? NO WAY. I ordered a mic/earpiece set that I thought was a lot smaller than it appeared in the picture. When it arrived, I opened the box and saw right away that it was way too big - it's as big as my whole ear so I knew it wasn't what I wanted. The packaging is clear so you don't have to open it to see it. I called to get a return authorization and immediately they guy in customer service told me that it wasn't returnable because it's a body-fit piece. It didn't state that anywhere on the site when I ordered it. I told him that the package hasn't been opened so he had to put me on hold to speak with his supervisor. When he came back, he told me that they would take it back and inspect it but if it had been used that I wouldn't receive a refund. So he basically called me a liar. I did get my refund because the package was never opened just like I told him to start with. Don't assume that everyone tries to cheat businesses out of things - there are honest people out there and you just lost one as a customer and I promise I'll make sure everyone knows that Discount Two Way Radio is not customer friendly! read more
