Warning the service can be slow but the food is good. I ordered the Hibiscus cocktail which was delicious. For the food we ordered Burgers and both were very tasty with the yummy shoestring fries on the side. It's a small place, you can seat yourself, but the food and drinks are where it is at.

Well....pardon the cliche but what a discovery ! Not one person in my party of six had ever been to this spot BUT now they are sold . Yummy drinks , cool vibe (a little downscaled Wine time vibe) and good "appys." We went for happy hour which was also a bonus . Server was attentive but over run with tables ...but he did his best! I'd go again ---be sure to get the Brussels sprouts! They are sweet and nutty and crispy! So good!

    Jerk chicken bites

Decided to check out this new restaurant. Sign on door said soft opening. We were one of 3 pairs in there. Looks like they did some darkening and sprucing up inside. Cute sitting area with chesterfield sofas. Ordered the jerk popcorn chicken from the small plates and the Big Matt Burger and the Disco Chicken sandwich from the large plates section. Hubs asked to sub chimichurri fries for his regular fries. Thoughts... Everything came out at once, would've liked to see the small plate first, but no biggie Jerk Popcorn chicken - missing spice. I was really wanting a jerk flavor, got a touch of something...allspice (??) Could have used a bit of salt. Remoulade dipping sauce was tangy and tasty. Big Matt Burger - tasty burger. Really liked the chimichurri fries and glad the hubs asked for the sun. Disco Chicken Sandwich - was ready for this to boogie on my tastebuds, but it fell flat. Chicken fry was dark, like bordering burned. I wish the thigh hd been brined. The breading/crust lacked flavor and could've used a post fryer kiss of salt. Loved the pikliz, could taste the remoulade...and although there was a touch of sweetness I did not taste the honey or chili oil that was supposedly included. Shoestring fries were tasty. You know me, I'll always give any place a second try, especially since this was a soft opening. Will update on my next trip!

Drinks are absolutely delicious! 10/10 Food was great, I got a Hot mess chicken sandwich 10/10. Partner got the double burger and 10/10 too! When we went the service was a bit slow but we were chilling, didn't bother us but others were bothered... I love the atmosphere & aesthetic of the place. I didn't get to take pictures of food because we got straight into it! We recommend the greyhound! Our new favorite spot forsure! Thanks for being opened!

Island Pork Bowl $21 (Feb 2023)

Lunch on a Friday in February 2023: Service was excellent. The two of us sitting at a booth plus two others sitting at their bar were the only customers during our lunch time (11:45 - 1:15). Their Island Pork Bowl was very tasty. $21 The beautiful looking Shrimp & Grits were ok however the shrimp were slightly under cooked and the grits seemed to need a bit longer cooking time. $22 (online on their webpage their price menu showed $20 however on the menu that we were given it showed $22 .... they're new so please bare with them). Federation Utopia Planitia Red Rye beer was great. $7. Ambience seemed nice, the place was clean, the bartender/server cared and we appreciated the nice cloth napkins and quality silverware. It's a fairly new restaurant and I'm guessing they will be changing/improving a few things.

It has a cool, relaxed feel that's a little more grown-up without crossing over into being stuffy or pretentious. You can actually sit down, have a good drink, eat something, and enjoy the place instead of feeling like you're competing with the music to have a conversation. The cocktails are where Strong Water really shines. They're creative, well made, and definitely a step above the usual "pour some liquor in a glass and hope for the best" situation. The food is really good too and fits the whole vibe of the place perfectly. Service has always been friendly and attentive when I've been there, and I like that they can make recommendations without turning ordering a cocktail into a chemistry lesson. It's also right next to Lost Dutchman Taproom, which makes that little area dangerously convenient if your original plan was to have a responsible, uneventful evening. Strong Water is definitely a place I'd recommend when you want something a little nicer than your typical bar but still want to relax and actually have fun. Five stars for the drinks, food, service, and atmosphere. The cocktails may be strong, but apparently my ability to say "this is my last one" is considerably weaker.

Drinks were fun and fresh Staff attentive and really made us feel welcome Vibe - LOVE IT! The booths are amazing and I love that it was the towne lounge so there's lots of history! Food - the lobster lasagna was delicious. Prime rib cooked on point and loved the sides, they were a little small but the meat made up for it! The duck, it had good flavor but wasn't our favorite good sides though!! 2nd time there.... Staff seemed a little stressed and not as friendly VIBE - LOVED IT! The music started right when we got there and it was perfect for our dinner date. Food - kinda made me sad. The halibut was cooked well but over salted and when it was plated it was a little rough looking. The lamb - tough and did not enjoy it, the rice was bland but the veggies were on point! The others had lobster lasagna and enjoyed and the prime rib and it was just so so that night. drinks: Espresso martini was tasty but served in an odd glass!! Wine was nice and of course when you get anything on the rocks you know what you are in for. Sweets: The Cassata (if I spelled that right) sounded amazing but left us unimpressed. The apple tart had great flavor and was warm which was a nice touch! Overall the 1st visit would have had 5 stars but the 2nd is really a 3 stars so I went with 4. I will try going back because I really want them to do good and enjoy the atmosphere there!!!

We were promptly seated, and given a great spot near the wall-sized indoor fountain which was nice. We started with cocktails and appetizers, and they all came out quickly. We started with bread, which was excellent. We moved on to the grilled artichokes, which were also pretty special. The jalapeno aioli added to the smokiness of the grilled artichokes. We loved them. The bib salad was also a treat - nice chop, and the lardons were perfectly cooked little flavor bombs that stood up nicely to the blue cheese. We had the lobseter ravioli, and the single-layer crispy lasagne for our meals. The lobster ravioli was delicious, and the freshly made sundried tomatoes added a little extra structure to balance the plate. The single layer lasagne was really interesting. Wasn't sure what to expect, and the server said it was a little controversial, so I tried it. It came out as a large sheet - fresh spinach pasta sheets, layered with a delicious bolognese sauce, and topped with pesto and bechamel. Unconventional? Yes. Delicious? YES! I'm so glad I was feeling experimental - it was an innovative dish. Overall, we loved it. Service was very solid - attentive, without being intrusive. Perfect evening! Previous review: Dropped in here just to check it out. We came early on Thursday, and it was jumping! Got a seat at the Kitchen bar to have a few apps, and a cocktail, and had a fantastic snack and talked with some great folks in the kitchen. Pizza is fantastic wood -oven style, and the service was great. Wish I had photos - but I'll save those for the next time i visit and do a more thorough tour of the menu.

In the past, we used to come much more often for Happy Hour as their appetizers, pizza's, and small plates are delicious. Yesterday, we decided Crush was the place to be for our 14-year anniversary, and it exceeded expectations. The food was delicious as always (I had the Allen Prime Rib and my wife had the Short Rib Stroganoff). But what took it over the top was our server - Ethan. He was awesome. He was friendly, warm, personable, attentive, and on top of everything. Being at a great restaurant with great food is still only a GOOD experience if your server is disengaged. However, when your server is awesome, it elevates everything. My wife and I ended the evening highly satisfied and grateful. Thank you Crush (and Ethan) for such a great anniversary night.

I know, I know, its a…read morecollege town, don't gripe about the college kids... but holy hell its nice to hang out with the grown ups sometimes! A couple of tips for the newbie adult headed to this VIP lounge: 1) Make sure to get your booty up there prior to 9pm (after 9pm there is a $10 cover charge) 2) $10 isn't going to break the bank, I get it however, it IS a key bit of info so take it for what its worth. (Its worth ten bucks, ha!) Make sure that if you should arrive before 9, like for happy hour, and stay after 9, that your given a wrist band so you can wander from floor to floor without having to pay the entry fee 3) If you get there prior to 9pm and have a person or people you actually want to speak (and not yell at) the music is at a normal level so carrying a conversation is tres easy. Beware, after 9pm they PUMP up the volume so be prepared to yell your conversation after that time frame kicks in 4) And speaking of 'tres' this bar is tres chic, there is a ton of cozy seating, you can go find a booth which is semi private or go more public and choose a table out in the open (along with more cozy seats) 5) They have an 'L' shaped pool table, very weird but very cool and ultra different. I've never seen one quite like it anywhere else 6) The martini selection is pretty tasty (see my pix) and the prices are right up my alley (marginally priced and well worth it) 7) The absolute BEST part of my experience here at the VIP Ultra Lounge was Stephanie. The adorable, extra friendly bartender/waitress, literally, the best little thing located upstairs. Her personality ROCKED. She gave me mini tour and being that it was my first time here, while she toured, she explained all the bars (total of 4), their highlights and best times to have fun at each of them. Seriously treated me in TOTAL VIP fashion, what a gem!! The cool thing about this bar is that its connected to 3 other totally different (un-VIP, just made up that word) bars. So... if you get tired of being a snobby VIP, you can take your wasty face downstairs and kick it with the college kids. Good thing #8... if your walking sideways and acting like a drunk monkey, you'll blend right in :) Dance, scratch your butt, do a shot then fall on the floor, hey! Have a good time!

Once you are past the cheapest drinks you can buy phase of Chico life, come up to VIP Ultra Lounge. Check 'em out during happy hour to scout if you like it without paying a cover. I enjoyed my melon mojito- with none of the stickiness or smell associated with most the venues in Chico. I get that Chico isn't used to paying much of a cover charge at all, but I'd rather pay a cover and go somewhere gorgeous, comfortable & clean. I used to love the Bear & LaSalles, but you go there after a few drinks because otherwise you'd never get past the smell and in the door. You can smell them from outside. Yuck. Other than harping on the fantasticness of a clean place- my husband has enjoyed his drinks there as well, we've had tacos and a steak/gorganzola pizza during happy hour- all good stuff. And that explains why I'm headed there in 40 minutes to celebrate the end of my work week!

The beer selection is great, with enough variety that there's something for pretty much everyone, including the person who needs to sample half the menu before finally committing to a full pour. The atmosphere is probably my favorite part. It's casual, open, and comfortable without feeling overly polished or like it's trying too hard to be trendy. The staff has always been friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to help you figure out what to try without making you feel like you need a degree in craft beer first. It's also the kind of place that works just as well for hanging out with a group as it does for stopping in and having a couple beers without making a whole production out of it. Good drinks, good people, good atmosphere, and absolutely no pressure to be anywhere else. Five stars from me.
