Review for the Building at 525 W Arlington Place and for Aaron with Metropolitan Rental Corp…read more I have lived in 4 different buildings around Chicago and this was by far the most pleasant and easy living experience I have had. I have loved living in the building and working with Aaron. I would recommend him to anyone. Working with Aaron: - Hands down, Aaron has been the best, most accommodating and helpful Building Manager I have ever worked with. - Texting or emailing him always resulted in my questions being answered quickly. - He told me how everything was flat out, without additional selling or sleezyness that I have seen with other building managers. - I ended up having to move out of the building before my lease was up (Not because I wanted to! I would have stayed for years) and Aaron went above and beyond in helping me through what could be a VERY stressful situation. He was amazing. With the Building: - It's an old hotel from the 1920's which added to the charm for me. Knowing that, it's an old building, but they have done a great job updating the apartments and the one bedroom I loved in was redone right before I moved in. - There are small quirks about the building and apartments but you are always going to get that unless you live in a brand new construction for 3 times the cost. - I always felt safe in and around the building as a younger lady living alone in a one bedroom. - Whenever I needed something fixed, the building engineer, Ahmed, was there within 24 hours fixing it just after a quick text. It was super convenient. Overall, If you are looking at this building, do it. It's worth having someone great to take care of things that come up and to have a great old building with lots of charm in one of the best parts of Chicago.

I hear many positive things about how the building is manages and maintained. It's easy to complain but far harder to educate yourself and learn the facts about your issue. Great job Sudler!!

UPDATE: MAY 16th, 2026 12:02 AM (1 hour ago) 3-6-26…read moreThis Union condones Doorman, Dan, cursing at me, an Owner/Resident. I reported his aggressiveness to the Union since 2021. It seems there is a piggyback with a gang up of 2 vs 1. A new Doorman to me, Milton, yelled at me in the lobby and became unhinged when I asked a question about a loitering car at the driveway entrance circa midnight on 2-5-26. He first threatened to sue me and then aggressively acted out this vitriol: "ITALIANS HATE BLACK PEOPLE." I am 100% Italian and one Doorman at my bldg. is also 100% Italian. How does a heightened alert operate after this language of racism is discharged from the mouth of Milton while on duty? In no uncertain terms, Dan and Milton should not have a job as Doorman; yet Sudler Property Management and SEIU Local 1 protect these very dangerous men. Bailey Koch, Union Official, Media knows how to contact me. ******** UPDATE: DECEMBER 11th, 2025 Back to the shower drama from owner 3705 which had his spout changed again and most likely paid for by the new manager, Sal. This time Sal took my advice and used a grophe spout without telling me nor considering the pressure on my side of the wall. Even on Monday, Sal held to his story that the owner was not permitting entrance. The Assistant Engineer explained to me that they did renter making Sal's story false and again no consideration for me as an owner nor my quality of life affected by the pressure. I call Sal someone who lies by omission and he is good at it...! Sal told me I cannot write to the CEO nor Chairman@Sudler; I informed him of freedom of speech rights and "blocking." Sal threatened a work order fee and maintenance did not charge as it was initially missed; Tape Recorder On! ****** UPDATE: DECEMBER 9th, 2025 Today, at 12:30 am I walked my dog. When I came out of the elevator someone I did not recognize was gathering his mail. When I went thru the lobby there was no doorman. When I returned circa 12:45 am the doorman, Dan, was at the desk. I reminded him that when he leaves maintenance should be called. His answer was ...why do I always "f" with him and he used the full "f" word. I reminded him that I am correct for safety and suddenly Ramon appeared at the door and I explained to Dan that he is NOT to use any profanity with me. He denied using the "f" word like he denies confronting me that I had to pick up my Service Animal to walk thru the lobby. He does not ask any other resident to pick up their dog especially 300 lb. Dogs but he confronted me calling me MAAM after a 20 yr. History and the incident is recorded. He still states that Cristina, then the manager made him tell me to pick up my dog, She disagrees and he was to be "spoken" too which seems to have evaporated. The story then became he had to go move his car which is not the problem; the desk needs to be covered. I went over the rule with Ramon who understood and Ramon opened the inner door for me which was appreciated. Dan is the sort of person that Steven Levy the Sudler Corporate Board states is hard working and CEO Dean Andrews turns his head. I don't lie ... and ... have not lied for 75 years. ****** UPDATE: NOV. 21st, 2025 This week was one of the new manager ignoring the peace and quiet use of my home. The water pressurization between my condo and the man in 3705 was a choice to cooperate with him by allowing maintenance to act as plumbers. However, with a PVC fire code correction the present and former managers are negligent. They targeted my correction which I had no problem and had no idea since 2017 and refuse to put out a letter for all owners to check for PVC. The correction happens thru random measures; Maintenance were not given the entire facts by the former manager; were not allowed to act as plumbers for me to exchange a P-Trap yet were allowed to go shopping for spouts for the man in 3705. The cost for me was in the hundreds vs a work order and the man in 3705 incurred only work order charges as he did not want to call a plumber. I have written to Dean Andrews and Steven Levy who are both in the higher "team" structures to receive silence and chastisement. So the PVC fire code is not really a code they follow and the quiet use of my home and my peace is not respected as the water pressurization comes thru my wall with his every shower ... What was important was dumping that problem on me ; a problem never existent between the walls until October 20th, 2025 when the man would not call a plumber to have his hardware evaluated and maintenance were allowed to be plumbers for him yet not for me. ****** I have lived at 400 N. LaSalle since 2006. I rented 4 apartments and in 2017 purchased a condo. I have lived through 3 management companies before Sudler. In 2021 I rented my condo until October 12th, 2025 when I relocated and moved back to my condo. It seems that managers must pass the gaslighting course to work at Sudler.

"To live in a "Pod" is to live in a college dormitory; except instead of having a resident advisor…read more(who cares about you and enforces the rules) you have a negligent property manager, D. Enders, (who does not care about your rights as a tenant to live in a peaceful manner). And instead of paying a fee that said dorms college has priced fairly you have a unit that you have moved into already overpriced and the slumlord nature of Podmajersky/Soda Pop Lofts L.P. will every year raise the rent without having a reason to raise such as updating appliances or the structural nature of your unit." -Me. That is right, I have been living in a unit at 1718 S. Jefferson St. for 2 years now and I am thankfully able to move out at the end of May. Included with my complaints of the services that Pod provides (or lack thereof, rather) are that I unknowingly paid for my upstairs neighbors ELECTRICITY for a total of 19 months. This has turned my living situation for the last 5 months of my lease into a feud between the paper thin floors of the building of my neighbors and myself with Pod never stepping in and mediating the situation. It would be nice to have an untroubled living situation but apparently that is just not possible. I have spoke with Podmajersky about the situation above and they have refused to step in and be of assistance, even though many rules in the lease have been broken and reported. Outside of that, the windows of the unit are about as leaky as a garden hose made of mesh in the winter and it took all of 1.5 years to fix a lock on our back door. This two problems drove my heating bill 20% higher than it needed to be. I have a broken window on our front porch that still has yet to be repaired. The window was broken before moving in. The window and door have been reported to Podmajersky, but only the door lock was fixed (after possible embarrassment during tours for possible future tenants). From what I have seen in pictures and tours, the achilles heel of Pod, inc. is the complete and utter lack of storage in the units. In our nice and spacious apartment we have a single closet for storage that is 2.5' wide x 3' deep x 6' tall, making our "office" a storage unit of unsightly boxes, instruments, and other miscellaneous gear. This is not a complaint, merely the truth. If looking at living in a Pod, be aware of the heavy amount of pictures taken using a wide angle lens to open up the space that isn't actually there when seen with the human eye. Please be aware that your rent (which said earlier is already steep) will be either raised or you will be told to move out. Lastly, be aware that you will be putting your money into a system that is single handedly putting a chokehold on an otherwise beautiful neighborhood in South Chicago and does not care what happens to the non-Pod-owned-property or historical population. For that matter, they own so many open plots of unbuilt land that this area will over time be a complete monopoly by every stretch of the word. It is sad that after living in one of their units for 2 years as a faithful tenant who does nothing but good and is responsible with bills and rent is being treated like a person who moved in and lived here for one month then told "sorry, this just isn't working out". Podmajersky, of all the relationships I have had in my life you are the worst girlfriend I have ever had and if any of my friends try to get your number I will go out of breath by telling them that you are a bad person to "get into bed with" and you are just looking to take his/her money. Everything said within this review is 100% truth and trust that I am merely looking out for the well being of future renters, for people to have an honest viewpoint of what you are signing onto. If you need to read any other reviews, please see the men's bathroom walls at The Skylark (incredible bar) which have more than plenty of renters writing their distrust/disgust with the company or other Yelp reviews that average out to this company having a 1.5 star rating overall on 18+ reviews. Would you eat at a restaurant with that rating? If no, then why in the world would you put money every month into anything that poorly reviewed? (This review is protected by The City of Chicago's Standard Lease NO. L-19, paragraph 31, A.)

I called to ask about a few specific units and where they were in relationship to the Fisk and Crowford power plants. They had no idea what I was talking about. I gave them the addresses of the plants and they still had no idea what I was talking about. These plants have been operating without pollution controls since the 1950s and are responsible for why Chicago, and Pilsen in particular, has the highest asthma and asthma related death rates in the entire United States. I'd rather not live next door and would rather not waste my time and theirs looking at those units. How can they sell their image as community leaders if you don't know anything about the area and obviously don't care about it? The clean up of these plants are the singular largest political issue facing Pilsen in city hall. It would be nice if the Podmajersky, who is profiting hugely from gentrifying this neighborhood, would also take an active roll in helping to make it a more breathable place for their renters.
