Bonus points for Friendship Park being right next door, because the vibes here are actually good and not just "posted-on-a-sign" good. We've been coming here for years and it never misses. Every visit delivers the same thing: peace. It's beautiful without trying too hard. Some days it honestly feels like you took a wrong turn and accidentally crossed into another state,calmer, greener, quieter... and nobody asking you for anything. Perfect place to walk the dogs, let the kids burn off every ounce of energy, or just sit and clear your head when it's been running at 100 mph all day. Very nice park. Super close to Green Valley recreation center- so it was nice to hang out there after our class. I was surprised how busy it was. I can see it's a bit old, some playground areas are tarnished, but overall very clean and well kept. Both kids had a blast. Will come back for sure read more

So, in my 21 1/2 years of living in Henderson, I've visited Discovery Park hundreds of times. Now, I sit here, thinking to myself why I haven't reviewed, or even checked in to, Discovery Park yet! Discovery Park is another one of the many parks close to my house in Green Valley Ranch. My grandparents' neighborhood is actually across the street from this park. Every time I go visit them, all the noise that comes from the park is blocked out, which is nice. My boyfriend and I have resumed our evening walks, now that the weather is getting warmer. During our walks, we like to pass by this park, and, if we're there at the right time, watch the beautiful sunset. It's convenient, clean, and very spacious. Like Paseo Verde Park located down the road, they have tennis courts, volleyball courts, a basketball court, a playground suited for small children (with a giant shade to protect the kiddos from the heat), and a giant, open grassy field. Sometimes, but not very often, we see mallard ducks hanging around at the park. The park is also very dog friendly. There's never a time where I don't see people walking or playing with their dogs here. There is plenty of parking nearby, with one lot on Palomino Village and another lot on Walnut Village. It's always well lit when we take walks here at night. Even with the recent crazy wind we've been having, we still find the time to squeeze in our walks here. read more

Discovery park has 2 playground areas one focused on the little ones I would say 5 and under which has a little train slide some swings for babies and a larger slide playground fun and colorful shaped like a fish . The downside it is not very well thought out . There is no gate enclosing them in and the bushes head straight into the parking area super dangerous I was running after my toddler with my baby in hand so don't plan to relax at this park . The other playground is for older kids with the huge slides and swings . They have some tennis courts for play . Volley ball area . Basketball court . Walking area . Good for picnics but badly placed for toddlers . Clean restrooms btw read more

Another beautiful park in Green Valley area. They have a large grassy area, covered picnic areas, a playground area for the little kids, and a playground for bigger kids. There may be more, but my focus was the playground. The park offers plenty of parking. I really liked this park because of the playground area for smaller kids. Safety first, most of the area is fenced or surrounded by bushes. It was nice to know that my little one could safely run. They have a really cute play area that looks like a train with a big tunnel nearby. The larger playground has some unique features that were fun. There are two baby swings and two regular swings. A covered picnic area plus benches are in the enclosed area too. The bathrooms are conveniently located in between both playground areas. read more

This park was filled with lots of trees. The playground was nice and had a section for younger toddlers. My one year old had fun playing on the small slide and swings. Was there on a Sunday and hardly anyone there. Just a few people with their dogs and a couple o to er families with their young kiddos read more

Gorgeous park with light elevations. Sports fields and playground. There's even volleyball. Large grass space. Parking lot on the side end.

Discovery is another nice little park in the Green Valley community that is clean and well maintained. Most of the visitors are here walking their dogs around the park in the grassy area. The good thing is I haven't really seen any stray dog poop hanging around from an irresponsible owner. Fantastic. The playground area has a soft padded ground in case a kid takes a fall. The restrooms are located right by the playground and has two entrances. There's a full length basketball court with 6 hoops total in case two full court games are necessary. There two sand volleyball courts I don't think I've seen anyone actually use recently. We visit mainly for the tennis courts. The courts do have some cracks and there's no fence divider between the courts but overall they are in a good condition. There's a tennis wall to practice solo with a dedicated practice area outside the courts. The lights stay on until 11:06 PM (yes we've stayed that late) which is great for you late night tennis and basketball players. Overall Discovery Park is a nice little dog park with something for everyone. Enjoy! read more

I took my dog here recently. It has a lot of shade and has nice picnic tables for get-togethers. The park is relatively small and does not have play enclosures for dogs. Other than that, it's a pleasant place to enjoy some breezes! read more

I'll make this review short and to the point. We came here for our mommy play dates as usual. And here's what this mommy thinks. Pros: 1. There's a different jungle gym for the different age groups. And what I liked most about the bigger jungle gym is that they made it parent friendly. So I was able to take my toddler on the big kid slides. 2. There's a gate all around the play area. 3. Play areas are covered, so there's less sun in your face. 4. Multiple swings, so kids aren't left waiting long for their turn. 5. Ample amount of parking. Cons: 1. There's A LOT of birds, which means A LOT of poop. I had to be careful where I sat and what my little one's hands had been touching. 2. There aren't a lot of benches to sit on. 3. I don't know why, but the other moms had that snooty, I'm better than you attitude. Even my friends thought the same thing. My curious toddler son was walking towards a toy stroller and the little girl's mom said "get your stroller before the little boy takes it." I'm not joking. My son is 1, he's not going to take it, you dumb b****!! It's called sharing. This wouldn't be my first choice in parks to take my son to, but we enjoyed our visit. read more

Some dogs were there not on a leash and this terrifies me. I really wish people would respect the law and keep their dog on a leash and respect others. I am afraid of dogs. I have been bit by two dogs, I don't care if you dog "doesn't bite" or not, just please keep it far away from me. Even if you have it on a leash, reel it in when people are nearby. We must coexist and I am going to start spraying dogs with pepper spray when they run toward me because you don't have them on a leash. Otherwise :) I love this park. After picking up some Island Flavor, I knew that I wanted to find a nice spot outside to eat- since the weather was so beautiful today! After checking Yelp to see the closest park nearby...Discovery Park popped up... Overall this park is mainly a great park because of its huge playground area, picnic table areas, tennis courts and basketball courts. There's also a nice grass area where you can kick around soccer balls - but it was large enough to let my sweet, Mack run around. He loved it, so I loved it. The park is mostly quiet, unless you have teenagers cussing at each other every now and then - cuz they are playing basketball, but other than that this is a cute and simple park. Great park for kids. Some of the playground equipment is covered so it's nice when it's sunny. There's several different play areas for kids so you can social distance if you go on a day it's not busy. This park is a little more secluded since it's in a neighborhood and not right on Green Valley. It's a great area to walk around too. The library, Rec center, and The District are all within walking distance too, if you decide to park and walk around. The kids can play for a while to get the wiggles out and then go shopping at The District with mom. Wink! Wink! read more

It's no discovery that Discovery Park is a first-rate local park in Henderson's Green Valley Ranch neighborhood. It is a safe and clean park for people of all ages to play. At only eight acres* Discovery Park provides sufficient amenities. There are picnic tables and shelters. There are courts for volley ball, basketball, and tennis. There is a state-of-the-art playground divided into two sections. And the majority of the park surface is mostly grass which is ideal for activities including flying a kite, soccer, or laying down on a blanket. I am impressed by how clean and kept up Discovery Park is. Grafitti is nonexistent. The grass is green to perfection. And the facilities are in top shape. When reviewing a local park, I take into consideration the immediate area. Discovery Park is incorporated into the Green Valley Ranch Master Planned Community. Nice homes surround it. On account of the fact that Discovery Park is contiguous to the Paseo Verde Trail, it is a trailhead for an extended hike through the Green Valley Ranch community. It's no discovery that from Centennial Hills to Mission Hills that the Las Vegas Valley is full of four star local parks. Im giving 3* because of one thing. There are no swings anymore, they took them off because of Covid 19, I guess. We love this park.Its always cleaned and well maintained. My 2.5 year daughter has a blast every time we go there, but the swings are very much missing!!!...Why they took the swings off?...If casinos and restaurants can be open, why not swings at the park?It doesn't make sense to me at all.I understand social distancing, but excuse me, kids need to socialize and have fun and taking swings from the park is ridiculous. read more

Cute local dog park that people and animals are both allowed to visit and enjoy all the park has to offer even if it's just the side walks you can walk along when enjoying the sites and selection. I can't remember if it's this dog park or another local one nearby that has this tin can where you can get dog treats from inside for your dogs while you are walking them along! Too cute my dogs loved this and I grabbed a couple to go for them and they seemed to be in heaven by this delicious variety of yummy treats. read more

Just your average park located in Henderson. I'm lying, really a small park located in Henderson. One thing about the local parks out here, they're pretty big compared to what I'm use to in California. Discovery Park is a smaller park that reminds me of some of the parks that I am use to. Came out here yesterday for a change of pace. Instead of hitting the gym to hit the weights, I chose the park for a walk with a friend. It's still a nice park with a few amenities like a kids area, basketball court, and tennis courts, but that's pretty much it. Not the biggest park in the world and had to do a couple of laps around it just get anything close to a workout. But when the weather is nice, a walk in the park will always beat a smelly gym. read more

As a mother of a 1 year old and a 2.5 year old I love this park. Compared to others, it has the playground area fenced and gated (so your kids don't get to escape easily) and there are two playgrounds next to each other (one for little babies and one 5-12 that my 2.5 year old plays on just fine). Of course, you still need to keep an eye on your kids but it felt much safer and aired out than other parks I have been to. read more

Small park, so you know what that means. Most people are nice and friendly for the most part but they got some George Zimmerman lookalikes, who take "neighborhood watch" a little to serious and are always there morning, noon, or night.They flip on lights if your in a dark area and spread unnecessary gossip. Some have dogs, for a reason to be there not the other way around. Love the shade the trees supply and makes it a lot cooler for hot days. Plenty of benches and activities to watch. Teens and young adults like to come out at night and crave attention. Overall its a great date park for couples and just down the block is another park with a baseball field with a little more open space for a nice walk.Very pet friendly so bring fido. read more

This park has two tennis courts and a half court with a wall for solo practice. The park has two playgrounds divided by the restrooms. The playground for younger children is nearly enclosed by fencing and hedges. There is a sand volleyball court and a softball field. The park also boasts a basketball court, numerous picnic tables and benches, cement walkways, plenty of grass and mature trees, and generally there is ample parking. The drinking fountain at the east side of the toddler playground has a water bottle filling feature as well as a dog watering bowl. Excellent place to take kids for them to either play on the covered structure, play area for younger kids, or get their ya has out in the grassy area.
