Mahi salad (i cut the mahi before taking picture)
    Gloria M.

First time trying the mahi salad. It was refreshing and fish was perfectly cooked. I'll get this again.

I got the Ahi Tuna flat bread with yam fries. First off I had the Ahi Tuna rare and not sure why its still very dry. I had it with yam fries and the portion of the yam fries was so little. The Ahi Tuna was ok. At the end of the meal there is free complementary ice cream. Not sure if I had too much ice cream or there is something wrong with the ice cream itself or the cone. Well I felt sick after having the ice cream. Luckily, I threw up and got whatever it was out of my system and was ok. I don't think I will be going back.

No matter your palette D7 delivers with naan pizza, salads, burgers, pastas, fish and don't forget your free ice cream cone. I especially like trying there daily specials which usually is some tasty fish plate. The line always seems long, but it actually goes quick. Order your food, get a number, have a seat and wait for them to bring you your food. As packed as it gets I have never really had to wait for seating no matter how big our group.

if my coworkers and I venture out this far to the tunnels and still haven't made a decision with other restaurants along the way, this is not a bad place to settle and get lunch especially for a big group. You look at the paper menus on the right when you enter the door and head over to the cashier to order. They give you a number and drinks are self serve. Service is fairly quick depending on what time you come, the menu has a variety of options and there's plenty of tables. The soft serve ice cream is a hit or miss regarding if the machine is working or not that day. I've been here several times and haven't had any qualms. They ran out of mahi-mahi when I was trying to order the blackened mahi-mahi salad and the cashier mentioned they can do red fish instead. I agreed to it and also asked they sub my romaine lettuce with spinach leaves with dressing on the side and they were accommodating. To my surprise the red fish was well cooked and great. As simple as the salad was, it satisfied my taste buds. The lemon garlic vinaigrette dressing was a nice touch to the overall salad and a good dip for my red fish. I have had the blackened mahi-mahi salad before and it was also tasty. I've also had the bison buffalo burger and it was decent. Overall this place isn't my go to when I'm having lunch downtown but it's one of my choices if the coworkers I'm with don't agree with my top choices.

Parmessan Crusted Chicken with linguine pesto

We visited the District 7 Grill tunnel location in the Kinder-Morgan building. Thankfully we arrived before the lunch rush and we had only a small wait which provided sufficient time to review the menu. The dining room has a lot of tables for 4 and was extremely clean. The staff was friendly and attentive. We dined on the Parmesan Crusted Chicken, Jumbo Lump Crab Cake, Tortilla Soup, Burgers. Everything was flavorful and cooked perfectly. I recommend stopping by if you find yourself in the tunnel and if not it is definitely worth the trip. While eating, the line extended out the door. Plan your visit accordingly, you won't regret it.

I came to district 7 for lunch on a weekday. The line was out the door but moved a pretty good pace. The menu is full of pasta bowls, salad, pizza and sandwiches. I opted for the parmesan crusted chicken with pesto (option for marinara too). The plating of the dish was great, I was excited to taste it, and it was big portion as well. Thats where it went down hill, the food had no taste what so ever. Usually pesto sauces have a strong flavor and taste fresh, this sauce was very bland. I had to salt and pepper it to get some down. The chicken was also very greasy and all I could taste was the panko breading, none of the parmesean. The highlight of my meal was the free softserve ice cream... I wont be returning, at least to this locations, I'e heard the midtown location is better.

Special (9/8/16) salmon with siracha, broccolini and quinoa. VERRYY good, healthy and fulfilling.

I work downtown right off of Louisiana Street so this location is very close and convenient for me. The place gets VERY packed after 11:30 for lunch time (it seems to be a very popular spot for lunch) so be prepared to wait in a long line and hope to find a seat. You order at the counter and then run to reserve your table basically. The cashiers and servers are quick and well trained to handle the lunch time traffic. The first time I came I had a salad which I didn't like at all. I felt it was too plain and something I could've put together at home. I wouldn't recommend the salad, they look better than they taste. My second time I ordered the special, which was seared salmon with a siracha sauce with brocollini and quinoa. It was AMAZING! If this was a regular menu item I would be here every other day. The salmon was a big portion and so soft that it melted in my mouth. The burgers here are massive and very unique. The naan flatbread pizzas look very good, I plan to try one next time. The menu has a lot of appealing items. Overall it's a very good place to eat when you're downtown and don't want to eat typical fast good. The portions are very big and the prices are very affordable!

    Garden burger. Ehh.

(*Edit* I've discovered you serve $2 breakfast tacos. And they're not terrible. Good job -you've been upgraded to 2.5 stars. ;p *Edit*) 3 chances and ya struck out District. The salad was the betterment of what you presented, but not as good as Corner Bakery or Alonti. I just can't throw that much money at you hoping one of your items is really worth it. For some reason I still want to try a pizza and burger. I require a coworker's bribe of free food to come back, though.

This restaurant is located in the downtown tunnels and is great for lunch. They serve food that is cooked fresh, like salmon fillet with orzo (had that last time). My favorite dish is the pepperoni and wild boar pizza which comes with basil and pesto. There's always a long line, so take an early lunch or come after the crowd. The seats are first come, so if you have a group, scope the place while in line. They also offer complimentary ice cream for after your meal, but I'm greedy, so root beer float. Overall, if your client/boss insists on treating and you need to stay healthy, go here because there are many delicious options that don't expand the waist.

I like this part of town and have been meaning to try them for lunch. The food is on the healthier side and is well priced. However, I do think the food could be seasoned a little more! Portions are large.

I wish the bread had been provided separately, because after a while, the chicken made it soggy, so it deterred me from eating it. They had a unique "Korean" version of their chicken, marinated in spicy Gochujang sauce, and I ordered the Honey Mustard as my dip. It's a bit difficult to get in and out of the parking lot onto the street. The menu is very simple and fast food esque; chicken sandwiches, tenders, and fries / sides. The sandwich was fairly good sized and comes with one side. The chicken itself was a bit bland; the cole slaw out of everything was well seasoned and had good flavor. The fries are the typical frozen shoe string fries. Service is okay; again, this spot borders on a fast food restaurant so it's quite simple service. Overall, it's okay; the chicken isn't spectacular but it's a step above Canes or Laynes in some ways but flavor wise also missing something special.

For the entrée, I went with the Sunday enchiladas made with Killen's famous brisket. Smoke, salt, pepper and exactly what you want from a dish like this. This is my first updated review on Yelp and not for the better. Since it was closing, my close friends and I wanted to go back one last time, especially for the peach bread pudding. One of our friends in the group hasn't been here before but was excited and to celebrate her birthday later since we were all out of town last weekend. This is going to close next Sunday and turn in to a gas station, which we literally don't need in this corner location of Heights Blvd and Washington Ave. I made a reservation while I was in Boston just in case. Our friend had called 2 weeks ago, and they told her there wasn't anything open because they were closed Sundays. They're not closed Sundays according to their hours of operation online. Weird. Everything started fine. Our server checked on us regularly. She couldn't answer any questions about the menu. She said she was new and didn't know it. Why would you hire a server who doesn't know the menu on the last week of service? That doesn't make sense. She repeatedly said that the whole time like how people say they couldn't do something because they were short staffed. The chicken fried chicken and chicken pot pie were solid. That was the entrees we chose, and some of us ordered a chicken pot pie to go. Apparently, we ordered the last few ones. Interesting because they just opened at 11 am, and we ordered to go right after the deviled egg appetizers, 15 minutes from opening. She tried to close out our tickets without asking about dessert. We had to tell her we weren't finished and wanted to order dessert. When it got to the dessert, we wanted the peach bread pudding and Texas sheet cake. They didn't have the cake, so we said ice cream. We thought it would pair well with the bread pudding. Then she said she doesn't know the ice cream flavors since she's new. So, she checked and came back to tell us there was no ice cream. Who knows if there were other desserts at this point. So, we said just the peach bread pudding. We got it, and when she placed it on the table, it didn't really have the tres leches sauce and absolutely NO PEACHES. Mind you, I've been here 4 times before and recommend this dessert to everyone. One of the most memorable peach bread puddings in Houston. Today just shattered that image. When the server asked if everything was ok, I said the dessert was missing the peaches. We hadn't even started eating it. She said she'd ask the kitchen. Nothing happened. We cut into the bread pudding thinking there might be some sliced peaches baked within, and the edge of the container was hot, but then one of our friends said the bread pudding itself was cold. It was cold. I remember it being warm with brulee'd peaches on top. The table next to us also ordered the same dessert, and they had peaches on top. Disappointing. She said the kitchen could make us some peaches. We said no. It's too late. The texture was gluttonous without the sauce and peaches. At the end of our meal, we all agreed it was a let down. Now we need a redemption brunch. Maybe it's for the best they're closing this Heights location.

Friday after work during happy hour and the prices could not be beat, especially with their lobster bites (was sitting at about $30, and we got them half off!) Drinks were fantastic! I selected the "Golden Cadillac" that comes with a miniature bottle of Grand Marnier inside of it. Very good. My company decided on an array of appetizers for his "main course", while I went with their Fried Salmon (served with Mac and cheese, and collard greens). Omg! So tasty! The pepper was prevalent throughout, but it did not over power the flavor! I make collard greens at home (and learned from one of the best), and even I found theirs to be pretty good! My company selected fried ribs, along with the lobster bites, and crawfish queso dip, and their wings! I tasted what he got, and we both agreed that the wings were "off the chart" delicious with a beautiful straight off the grill smoky flavor! So good that he got another order to go! Lol. What made our experience there amazing was our server Ray (Rajean = think "the 90's TV Show "Living Single"..."smooches"!)...she was the best!! From her hello, to walking us through the menu (as first-timers), her recommendations, her energy, her smile, and her being very relatable. Loved her! My only gripe was the bathrooms, the ladies room needed attention (and could use a spruce all around). It doesn't help that it is a bit small, but yeah, they need to focus some efforts on ensuring it's upkeep. As for seating and parking, there is a bar area and limited seating toward the front of the restaurant, but it does extend to back of the house with additional seating. There is also patio seating as well. Because this place seems popular, it is best to reserve ahead to ensure your seating. Parking is very limited! They do however, offer valet (but at $20+). There is off-street parking, but be careful since this is a residential area and nothing is secure. All in all, I really had a great time and left with my belly full! Definitely worth checking out! I loved the vibe, and it felt like a great place to just relax and enjoy. As I was leaving, I noticed a long line forming, and I realized how lucky I was to get in so quickly. The freshness of the food was epic and every bite was tasty and vibrant. The restroom was clean as well, which is always a plus. I'm giving this a full five stars and definitely a place I'll keep in mind next time I'm in town!
