I went into the store to get butane that I was in need of. As a smoke shop, it's a nice and clean store with lots of smoking accessories. It really is a nice looking storm as I turned to my left and I looked into the back and he's got quite a bit of stuff here so I left my things that he just rang me up for it on the counter and said I'll be right back... ask I walked around and looked over the place. I asked the employee, "hey is this your store?" and he said " YES " "This is a really nice place.You got all kinds of nice cool stuff? After he humbly thanked me. I asked if he was on YELP? and if so I wanted to review the joint. "I left my phone/camera in my truck, but I 'll be right back" He had old school roller skates, surfboards, cool tee-shirts, awesome skate decks, stickers, glass pipes, rolling papers, water pipes. Really cool guy behind the counter recommended and sold us the best quality skateboard parts for my son's deck based on our specifications. Didn't try to sell us on parts that did not meet our specifications which was really refreshing which is a great way to earn lifelong customers and referrals. Hard getting past all the bongs and such, though, and somewhat limited trucks selection which drops it down a bit. read more

I didn't know much about brands and the specifics but as soon as I walked into District I was greeted with enthusiasm and spotted the PERFECT pink truck and cruiser wheels to match my board! We went there because of the wonder reviews. My 9 year old grandson needed a beginner skateboard,helmet, and pads. When we arrived we had to walk through Marijuana display and no one to help us AT ALL to choose a board. We wanted to support a local skate shop when getting my husband set up with a new skateboard​ for his upcoming birthday. The owner, Sam, was great - friendly, knowledgable, and, patient with my million questions. He made sure we bought a skateboard that was the right length for my husband. Luckily, the first board we loved was the right fit and we purchased a beautiful Arbor Board (durable, beautiful bamboo) and a few other accessories, along with a couple of pair of Dickies as I couldn't pass up that great price. We then spent another half hour visiting with Sam, talking about family, and the value of treating people well. We've found our skate shop and will be back to District Skate again and again. Sam is super friendly and knowledgeable, and he has everything from pro skateboards to blank boards with no artwork but are the exact same boards as the pro boards but only cost $30 with griptape, so if you are on a budget or emergency, it's the best choice. It is so nice to go into an owner operated business where they take pride in what they do and are genuine. Sam was friendly, very knowledgeable and spent a considerable amount of time educating me and my son about our different choices when picking his board. Sam's main concern was my son getting the right board for him. There was plenty of boards already put together but we decided to go with the custom board. It only cost a little more than the preassembled boards and it was really fun picking out all the different accessories and having it built it right in front of you. A lot to choose from. We got a Death Wish board, Mikemo trucks, Bones wheels and really cool grip tape. My son got an amazing custom board at a reasonable price. My boys needed skateboard and helmets and this was the place to go! Super friendly, knowledgeable & patient with my very energetic boys!

I went in to buy some bearings, looked at the prices and asked if they had any used one's for sale because I'm building a crappy spare board. Not really concerned about top performance. So he said he had some used ones, pulled out box and said we have these "Bones REDS", He took one out and spun it then put it back in the box... i asked how much and he said 10 bucks! I decided that they would do for my build. As i was leaving the store i started to inspect the bearings and come to realize they aren't Bones. They are a non name brand and weren't worth $10 bucks. I didn't want to order them online because i wanted to support a local skate shop (Which i could of and would of been way cheaper for high quality bearings ). I have a friend that owns a shop and i know it can be rough. Shame on me for not properly inspecting the bearings but shame on district skate for fooling me. They let me walk out the door knowing that they lied to me. It's not about the money, $10 bucks isn't that much. It's about the principal and loyalty to your customers. As i was leaving i asked him how much were the cruiser completes going for... she told me $120 and pointed at one...then i looked up at it and saw $90 written on it... Honestly. I could of gone back, and confronted him but a few bucks isn't worth my time. It's just sad, i will NEVER come back to this establishment. Lying to customers is bad business. One could argue if the person who helped me knew what he was doing? Maybe, he was indeed an older gentleman and if he owns the shop even more of a shame. Tisk tisk tisk! If I could give a -1 Star I would. Spoke to the owner about a price on used wheels out of a plastic bag full of banged up wheels behind the counter, he quoted $10 for used wheels with no bearings. When I drove back the next day to pay for them after deciding they would work for my project, he said $15. I reminded him he told me 10 and he said the price went up. Used wheels no bearings? I went into District to buy some new wheels for my skateboard. The selection was good and the prices were decent. But the greatest part was when the guy in the shop went the extra mile and changed out my wheels and bearings right there and I didn't even ask him to. Not a very good skate and surf shop. I have been in here a few times and get the feeling each time that they employees working there really don't know or understand the things they are selling. I asked a question about a particular surfboard once, and it was obvious to me (a long time surfer) that the answer this employee gave me was completely fabricatied. They also seem to sell whatever the latest high school fad is, hence the fixed gear bikes. Not my favorite spot, i will not be returning. read more

Disclaimer: I don't know much about surfboards and am just starting to relearn how to surf. I think I saw the board that Peter S. was talking about when I went to District. It was a petty decent board... I would just say in terms of negotiating skills to start higher than where you want to end up and not give up so much ground so quickly. Most people buying to resell will try to lowball you expecting more of a fight and if you put up a fight hopefully you'll end up at an okay price. Anyhow, I went here to get repairs done. I had just gotten back my board after 3 years and my friend had done a major repair for me - there was a nice sized gash on one of the sides- but the work wasn't smooth; it didn't seem to be filled in completely and the work they got done seemed to be chipping. The owner (don't know his name) looked at my board and said he could clean-up for $30. I said I was a student and asked if he could give a discount and do it for $20. We ended up at $25. I left my board there for about 2.5 hrs. When I got back Sam (the manager) said that they ended up also sealing some cracks along the rail and filled in a ding on the top of my board and he had checked my entire board to make sure everything was good. I was pretty happy that it was only $25. I was also looking to get a new leash but all their leashes were around $22 and I had seen some really inexpensive ones on the internet. I asked if they had any cheaper leashes and Sam said he'd just give me a 10% discount on the blocksurf leash - the leash was just a basic leash so with the discount it wasn't a terrible price and it was convenient to just buy it then. Sam also said that he should have charged me more for the repairs but that he'd just leave it at $25. When I took the board home I noticed 2 more dings on the bottom of the board so I took the board back to the shop. Sam repaired these dings for me too without any additional charge. He showed me how he repaired the ding and recommended that I get some resin or a repair kit so that I could repair any future dings on my own. Overall, I thought I was dealt fairly with and I appreciated the discounts. I need some booties so I'll probably be going back to check out their selection. Also, bring change for the parking meters if you go here. I guess you could park at the taco bell but be sure to buy something from taco bell otherwise you could get towed. read more

I am so happy I stopped here!! Let me just start with I got everything I wanted; bike, lock and basket for under $300. I just moved to the area and haven't ridden a bike in 10 years and can not fathom spending hundreds on a bike. Originally I looked at large inexpensive retailers but when they were sold out of the bikes I wanted I started to look local. I wanted a city bike with a basket and didn't want to spend too much. I checked several other bike shops that had used rusty bikes for over $200 and brand new ones for over $300 (and that's single speed). I stopped here randomly while waiting for a hair appointment and instantly fell in love with one in the window. It was brand new and 7 speed but didn't have a price tag. The other bikes weren't expensive and brand new so I was like okay this is already better than most shops. Then the guy tells me it's on sale. I bought it right there on the spot with a basket and lock. He (his name is Sam) pumped the tires and installed the basket for me before purchasing so I could ride it around the parking lot. I love the service, the prices, everything. I wasn't pushed into a sale at all and helped more than I expected him to. I'm very happy with this shop! read more
