Great taco restaurant near the Whitehouse I came here during lunch, which was a massive rush of visitors and local federal workers. The staff is nice, even though it's rushed and people are rushing from the line, you can get help with ordering. I had two tacos using the Itza veggie protein, it's a meat-alternative crumble. I had one taco Jefe style, which is the Mexican style of cilantro and onions. On the second taco I just did "build your own" and added a bunch of veggies. After you order you wait by the kitchen in the rear of the restaurant and they call you by name when your order is up. There is a salsa bar with a good selection of house made green and red salsas, that range from mild to super hot. There is plenty of seating upstairs because there are bars that give way to single person seating. Overall, great food, good service. This place is delicious and worth your time if you are looking to have tacos, bowls or burritos in DC. The queso with chorizo is incredibly flavorful for a starter. For my main I normally get a burrito or bowl w/chicken and the garlic rice that they use is to die for! So good that I went home and tried to recreate it the next day to satisfy my craving. I also enjoy the fact that I can choose between ordering off of the kiosk or directly from an employee. I knocked two stars because the past two times I have been, the soda machine was out of order and the restaurant itself could use some cleaning. read more

This was just an ok experience for me. I liked the ability of ordering from the touch screens located downstairs. I don't believe they have a waiter service-if you're sitting upstairs you do have to come back down to pick up your food. My chicken taco was just okay-the chicken wasn't super flavorful. So i've heard all the hype about district taco from friends and family, and I figured that I would finally give this place a try... Upon a cold fall evening I stumbled in and laid eyes on the delicious menu!!!& Gosh were there some bomb items, I ordered a smothered steak burrito & I think that $9.90 is pretty damn decent for the quality and quantity of food that you are getting! Customer service is absolutely excellent, and your food isn't being passed about like a game of hot potato, as you would see at chipotle. It is made with pure love! My food came out 5 minutes later and I was delighted by the neatness of the dish & The amazing toppings, I walked over to the salsa bar and grabbed some mild tomatillo salsa, in addition to some of the Hot Colorado salsa. After finding a seat on the upper level, I poured the Salsas onto my burrito and chowed down!! The burrito showered my taste buds with so many flavors, the mesquite flavor of the char grilled steak stood out, in addition to the richness of the Salsa! Let's just say that I fell in love. My newest fast-casual Mexican obsession! I first discovered District Taco a few months ago while scrolling around on Uber Eats and craving a quick but convenient bite of Mexican food. I stumbled upon District Taco and haven't looked back since, both ordering take-out and visiting in-person a pretty embarrassing number of times over the course of the last couple of months. I see them as basically a higher-quality, local version of Chipotle; it's definitely a touch pricier, but they have the quality of service and food to more than make up for the difference. I usually opt for the ensalada with either itza (made with Beyond meat) or grilled fish -- the fish is a super refreshing pescatarian addition to the menu beyond most other fast-casual Mexican spots. With the impeccable spice blend, lovely charred crust, and super tender interior, the fish is absolutely worthy of being a go-to protein, despite the added cost. They do also include guac as a protein choice, which, although I love guac, it's not a protein and should not be categorized as such. I usually get basically all of the non-dairy toppings possible (note: the potatoes are not gluten-free) and replace their dressing with a few dollops of their flavor-packed and absolutely outstanding salsa. Ah...I'm getting hungry just thinking about it -- the ensalada hits the spot every time, and I really appreciate the degree of customization and wide breadth of toppings you can add compared to other fast-casual Mexican spots. The service is also efficient and friendly enough, providing an all-around delightful, quick dining experience. I will note, though, if you're planning to get take-out, I would recommend quickly sense-checking your order before heading out. I've occasionally been given the wrong order, which is completely understandable considering how busy this spot can get, but that does have the potential to ruin dinner plans if you're not staying near the restaurant, especially if you have dietary restrictions. read more

Stopped by this place today in honor of National Burrito Day. The menu is pretty straight forward and easy to read. It is pretty crowded here especially during lunch hours. They do have seats upstairs, but it's a small restaurant. I ordered the Burrito (of course), and Barbacoa with a bunch of toppings. Unfortunately, they messed up my order because they gave me carnitas instead of barbacoa. I was slightly disappointed because I was craving for barbacoa, but it still taste good. The carnitas was not bland nor too salty, which is a plus since that can be hit or miss in my opinion at other places. The meat was tender, and the toppings tasted fresh. Overall, the quality of the burrito was good, but it's a small burrito, so don't expect to eat a burrito the size of Chipotle. It's about half the size of a Chipotle burrito, so if you're starving, I would order 2 or more burritos from here. I can see why a lot of working folks come here for lunch! Menu is short and sweet, portion is good, and the price point is literally all under $10. This is a hippy grab-n-go spot that I came to due to the high ratings, but more importantly, I had an agenda to follow! Luckily I came a few minutes before the lunch rush- the place got hella packed once 12 pm hit! It subsided around 12:45 pm. I ordered: burrito bowl with al pastor + all toppings. This ended up being $8.25!! How amazing is that! +1 Good portion size! I was pretty full after this. +1 I liked the rice! Tasted better than Chipotle's. -1 Meat was not well marinated...pretty disappointed. -1 The sauces were not special at all....sad. Pro tip 1: You can order online first!
