The chairs are pretty confortable and I just felt I was taking care of Gel-mani: same guy, offered me water. The manager (I think) came to supervised his job and said that my color was beautiful and if I liked the work so far, I said I love it !! Another girl came over also liking my color selection. I saw the facial sign in the place and I asked if I can do a facial after this, they said "of course"... couldn't be more excited because I had, not one, but two new acne volcanos that came out of nowhere. Facial: very fresh, soft massage, steam on all the time, no big exfoliation grain involved, she squeezed my face whenever I needed it (it hurts a little bit but beauty has it's sacrifices) but oh lord did it work well !!! She specifically instructed that I only see Tamara. When I made the appointment, I failed to make it for both a mani/pedi. So, nobody seemed to be available to do my pedi. This turned out to work in my favor. My feet needed special care and I received that at Colors Nail Spa in Durham, NC. But, back to Tamara. She offered an initial consult and educated me on how to move forward with my nail care when I return to Northern Virginia. She educated me on the difference between builder gel, traditional gel, and poly gel. She also took great time and care to make sure I was happy with the design we worked together to come up with. The technician was very kind, attentive, and did a great job. Unfortunately, my manicure wasn't the same experience. I got a French hard gel fill, and it took over two hours. It felt like the technician may not have been very experienced with hard gel, as each nail took a long time and the process seemed uncertain. While she was thorough with cuticle cleanup, it left my cuticles feeling very irritated. There was also some confusion with the color. I asked for a French manicure, but the base color used was a much darker pink that didn't match my skin tone. I tried to explain this, but there was a language barrier she only spoke Spanish :/ I wish I knew Spanish. After a few attempts to adjust it, I decided to skip the French and just go with a solid pink to keep things simple. Another staff member eventually stepped in to help finish my nails. Overall, great pedicure experience, but the manicure was disappointing and took much longer than expected. The pink I went with in the end is very cute the shape of the nail great. But I will not return because overall it was over 3 hours with both the mani and pedi.
