This was such a cute and clean hair salon. It is spacious and relaxing. They had these super comfy hair washing chairs that felt like you were laying your head on a pillow. Mia's pricing didn't change thankfully and it was $100 for a long hair cut. Another bonus was there are ample amounts of free parking so it's easy to park and enjoy a spa day. The ambiance was lovely, they also provided a variety of complementary beverages and snacks! The shampoo bowl has a head pillow and they use high-end products that smell and feel great. I definitely recommend the Powder Room and Mia!!

I showed the first stylist multiple reference photos of what I wanted, but she ended up adding a very dark root color to my already lightened hair, which was the complete opposite of the look I asked for. After expressing my concerns, the salon did have another stylist step in to help correct it, which I appreciated, although I waited nearly two hours in between. The second stylist made me feel much more comfortable and did improve the situation, but I still left unhappy with my hair overall. The correction consisted of using a color remover on the roots and applying toner to the rest of my hair, and I was charged $265 for it. At the end of the day, my hair looked better than what the first stylist did but still nowhere near what I originally asked for or envisioned. I'm leaving this review because I think communication and transparency are incredibly important, especially with color services. What upset me most was not just the outcome, but the way the situation was handled overall. I understand that corrections can take time and effort, but if I was going to be charged $265 for a corrective service after my hair was initially mishandled, that should have been clearly communicated to me beforehand. I truly wanted to love this salon and leave feeling taken care of, but unfortunately I left feeling disappointed, uncomfortable, and unhappy with the overall experience.

I've been getting haircuts from Jerry Madrid for a while now and have always left walking a bit taller and feeling not an ounce of doubt as to the look of the cut. For the longest time I've always thought of myself as a barber shop guy but not any more. For the most part I keep a traditional short men's cut however until I started going to Jerry, I had no idea what was possible even with a short length. From the very first visit right on through Jerry proves mastery of his craft. Other stylists get their hands on my thick hair and multiple cowlicks and the feeling is if they can only make things work in the shop, just in time for the mirror check, then they've done ok. Not Jerry. He looks at these things as opportunities and will sit there before touching his scissors and explain what's about to happen and why. These days when Jerry says "You know what, today I'm going to..." , my response is always go for it brother. He'll also take the time and explain exactly how to recreate what he's done in the shop at home. All in all, I could not be more satisfied with Jerry's work and would recommend him (and have) to anyone looking to try something different. read more

I have been driving up to Manhattan Beach to Monika for several years since she moved from Newport Beach. She is the only hair stylist who have been able to achieve natural looking highlights on my dark Asian hair. When I moved away to Australia for a few years I couldn't wait to get back and seat in her chair again. You never have to tell her what you want because she is among those stylists who look at your face and create a style that will work for you. I only have my hair cuts done about four times a year because the layers grow out so nicely that the hair cuts last for a long time. Most hair stylists are either good at cutting or colouring. It is a rarity to find one that is good at both. Monika is one of those talents who is quite a natural in both. I highly recommend Monika as she is always friendly, professional and so much fun to talk with. The staff at the salon are always nice and courteous. It is worth the drive to have my hair done with Monika because I know that she does an amazing job every time. Jianni Meyer is a styling GENIUS! I found her back in 2007 and refuse to let anyone else touch my hair since. The last time I was in to get a cut I gave her full reign of her creative mind to sculpt my thick head of hair. It couldn't have came out better! I will never again trust anyone other than Frances to touch my hair. She has never failed me once, and I've been seeing her for almost 8 years now! I always come in with a different style in mind, but I'm never really sure about exactly what I want. But, no matter how bad I am at explaining it to her, Frances always works pure magic. I've always had terribly unmanageable hair (bushy, tempermental, inconsistant) and I used to hate it so much, I would just put it up in a ponytail or bun every day. I came to Divat after having my hair butchered by a crappy "stylist" at some crappy salon. You get what you pay for, right? Needless to say, I was absolutely petrified to let someone touch my hair again, but it needed to be fixed! Jerry Madrid came highly recommended by a highly particular friend, and he met and exceeded expectations by leaps and bounds. He empathized with my problem, and really took the time, despite his busy schedule, to make me feel comfortable and actually TALK to me about what I wanted with the long-term plan for my hair. He spoke with me extensively over the phone, invited me in for a consultation, and even worked late at night to be able to fit me in before the holidays. I have never sat before a stylist with so much empathy and consideration for what the client wants, rather than the stylist's ego. Oh and he's totally charming, so hell yeah. read more

Jerry Madrid just completed another perfect haircut for me. After many years and several stylists not caring or willing to try to refine my hair, Jerry was able to create a cleaner look that simply lays better and more consistently falls into place. It didn't radically alter the appearance of my hair, it's just more uniquely designed for my look and style. A GREAT additional benefit of going to Jerry is the free touch up between cuts. I typically would get my hair cut every 5-6 weeks. By that time a cut was really needed. With Jerry, I jump in for a short visit after 2-3 weeks and he touches up a few loose ends, and trims where necessary to keep the cut looking fresh. It is an awesome way to keep my hair looking freshly cut with out the additional expense paying for a full cut every 3-4 weeks. Staying fresh and clean while saving money - it's all good!! read more

My stylist, Michelle Clagg, is truly one of the best in the business. Ladies - if you're looking for a stylist who is skilled, makes amazing hair recommendations, and does it all in a timely manner - Michelle is your lady. Last Saturday I got a full color, cut, and a Brazilian Blowout and I couldn't be happier with the results. It's honestly the best thing I've gotten done in a long time. My hair feels soft, smooth, & healthy - and it's the most manageable it's ever been in years (took me 10 mins to style this morning as opposed to 45). Best part of it all - I was at the salon for only a couple hours - Total! i still had my whole Saturday. Michelle works hard, and delivers amazing results. Got referred to Jerry Madrid from a co-worker of mine at the business next door. Came got my haircut and left a happy man. This was over 6 months ago and I haven't gone anywhere since. Jerry is a true professional that values his customer's comfort over their money. He has consistently turned out top notch cuts, despite the numerous times I have decided to change my style. He also tailors each cut to the specific persons head instead of going with a one size fits all approach. Gave me a beautiful, shiny Italian color. She also did an amazing job trimming my hair to get it healthy while keeping the length. I recently had my hair cut by Jiani Meyer at Davit. I was only in town for a day, so it was a bit accidental that I wound up there, but I am so glad I did. She was simply wonderful. Not only did she give me probably the best hair cut of my life, she was a joy to be around. Even though I probably won't ever be back, she really took her time and was just so present and caring. She was thorough and I could tell she is really experienced. I felt very comfortable putting my hair in her hands. I remember going in that day for the first time feeling like I wasn't in a very social mood. But I ended up having such a pleasant and effortless conversation with Brittany! Colorists have tried in the past to get it from boring to beautiful with no success and lots of headaches. After many attempts I stopped trying. It's been 10 years since I've had anyone do anything other than cover my gray roots. Recently when I was in Saltwater for a haircut, I showed Caitlyn a photo of what I'd want my hair to look like if it were possible. Weeks later she made it happen. I absolutely love it. She is my hair color hero. What a Genius. I love her and her salon. Now I understand why I need to book in advance.
