My friends and I were here last Saturday and spent a good amount of time at the bar. I'd say all in all, the bar is good and fun. Good selection of draft beer, a giant aquarium fish tank, board games, what's not to like? I took away a star because apparently at the switchover for the staff, maybe around 8pm, this toolbag of a "bouncer" approached my group and said we were "blocking" the way to the bathroom, when that wasn't even the case, plus the bar was not even packed, and no one who passed my group did not give us any sense that we were "blocking" the path way. My advice, watch out for this "bouncer," one of the rudest people I've come across in this big city, and that's saying alot. Came here for a friend's birthday a few weeks ago. This place isn't as much of a dive as the name might suggest, but it's still decent. Beer selection is varied enough and prices are moderate. The bartender was nice and got to me quickly despite the crowd. There is no food, but you can order from nearby places. They also have a ton of board games, a huge aquarium (I hope they got rid of the dead fish I saw haha), and trivia. This is a great spot for drinks before a show at the Beacon. They have a good happy hour, electrical outlets under the bar for charging your phone, and board games (Connect Four!). They don't serve food but they have take-out menus or if you're as lucky* as I am, you can send your husband out to bring back Shake Shack for you and eat at the bar while everyone eyes you jealously. My only complaint is that even on an extremely busy Halloween Friday, there was only one bartender and he was apparently too overwhelmed to acknowledge us, even while he served a girl who just walked up when we'd been waiting patiently for 10 minutes, so we were unable to get a second drink. *needy and persuasive read more

I went there with some coworkers for a birthday party. First off, this place doesn't serve food which I think is odd. But they do give you a big folder of local menus, and you can have your food delivered. Secondly, they have board games! They had Jenga, Connect Four, and Trivial Pursuit which I thought was super cool. They make good drinks, and the staff is pretty nice. Also, on each table, they have martini glasses filled with miniature candy (like Reeses Pieces, Hershey, Butterfingers, etc). I thought that was an interesting touch. All in all, it was a pretty cool place. I thought the lack of food situation was strange, but it was pretty awesome having Indigo (Indian food) delivered while getting nice and buzzed. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to see what Dive 75 was all about. After reading some reviews on Yelp, it looked like it might be some fun. I was honestly enticed by the tales of chocolate treats left around for junk food addicts like myself. The inner child in me couldnt wait to play board games either lol. Well umm...didnt go as planned. We got there, the place is not too hard to miss which is a plus. We got in, were approached by someone asking for ID, then decided to sit at the bar since there were only like 10 people in there. (Thursday night) Bartender was friendly, and somewhat patient as I didnt know what I wanted right away...but after 5 minutes of deliberation, I chose an old favorite, a L.I. Iced-tea. And it was probably one of the best ones I have ever had! I think it was like $12 for that, and my boyfriend got a redbull and ciroc which was $10. So...not too bad, but hey its Manhattan. The music comes from a jute box, which I did not attempt to look at. I was too frustrated by the lack of people to care about music, especially since I knew that after this one drink we were going to be on our way! I think there was one couple playing connect 4, but thats it. There is a whole shelf with games, and the candy really is everywhere, but it seemed as though the mini-snickers I chose was either old or frozen at some point. But hey, it was free! Great neighborhood bar! And--happily--that's all it is. A bar. No scene. No theme. There's a fish tank and some board games (Scrabble! Battleship! Rummikub! Connect Four!). The beer selection is plentiful, and it's New York cheap. Cocktails are standard--they'll make you anything--and strong. The bartenders are all friendly, the place is clean, and I'm not afraid of their bathrooms. It's great in the middle of the week, although it does get a liiiiiiiiittle bit fratty on the weekends (but then, this is the UWS). My lady and I also had a party here, about 30+ through the course of a night. We catered some cheese plates and chips/salsa through them, which was easy enough and also New York cheap. There were a few mistakes made with our order--bummer--but the manager adjusted our check appropriately, and our bartender for the evening tossed us a few drinks on the house to make up for it. Everyone was happy. Totally recommend this spot if you're living on the UWS, or if you're coming out of the park looking for a low-key drinkie. read more

Came here to meet a big group of friends for some drinks. It was st Patrick's day, so all bars were crowded, and those one was no exception. The place is huge and has board games! They might have drinking games as well that they put away for st. Patrick day crowds. We had a table, but there were no servers so we still had to go to the bar (this might have been due to st pats day too). All in all I would give this place another shot. Went there late on a Friday night and it was not too pack but with enough people to make it a fun night out - although that may have been due to my company (I was with 2 girlfriends). You barely have anymore to move but lucky we got a space at the end of the bar. The beer was $6 each and we just took turn paying for rounds. Amazing place! I've been here a few times, there's something about it that just has a great appeal. Whether its the fact that they have mini snickers and milky ways in martini glasses all over the bar, or because they have a whole slew of board games and card games to play, this place is fun. Good music too! It's a small bar with a huge aquarium, a few couches and comfy chairs, alot of different beers on tap too. They even serve champagne upon request! We were re-celebrating new years because a few of my friends and I weren't in nyc together on nye this year. I've never had a bad time here, and I LOVE the fish tank when you walk in. Came here this past Saturday night with a couple friends for some drinks, and much to our delight there were bowls of candy out on the bars, presumably for Easter, but maybe the candy was out just for the hell of it. This bar is my absolute favorite! The definition of a friendly neighborhood bar. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, they have a cozy fireplace and intimate seating in the back too. The bartenders are some of the best I've seen, they are sweet and full of personality. I got to chatting with the two who were working and they really were the coolest. They were singing and dancing behind the bar and just having a great time. I visit New York often and I will be returning here every trip, I am positive of that. So I had a good time there but after thinking about it...it was good but I was with a big group and we were going to a movie but we just timed it wrong and it was sold out so we walked around and ended up there somehow. However we got their before i started getting crowded so we got a table and were sitting. I was first surprised and happy about the beer selection. Seemed like a lot of different beers on tap, which always makes me happy. Then looking at the list again it seemed kind of ok or they didn't have it or i just didnt really care. The prices were from like $5 to $10 i believe for the beers depending on where they came from. So after going up for like my third time i actually stood there staring and trying to figure something out to get. However the fourth time all of a sudden the bar is packed and you can barely walk. Not the biggest place...however the one cool thing i just remembered is that you can play board games. Connect Four to Scrabble! It is called Dive 75, but it isn't a dive bar..but then again for the area it would be a "dive" compared to other bars. But def up my ally just worried that the next time i go i wont be able to order a beer and move. read more

Started my night here last Friday and it was a good find in the UWS. When I walked in people were playing connect 4 and jenga which was a cool addition. Reminded me of one of my favorite bars in Chapel Hill that had board games as well. The prices are decent, $4-$6 for a beer and a pretty good beer selection. This bar is big on customer service and making you feel special which is cool. I say this because I checked in on Foursquare that night and my Foursquare is linked to my Twitter so apparently Dive 75 saw it and the owner told me to come in and get a free gift certificate. I'll be going there today to pick that up. I would have come back anyway but this ensures that I will. I might just use the certificate while I'm there and get my night started early haha read more

I love Dive 75. Name says it all: Exactly what it is and where it is. I've actually gone on a bunch of first dates here, and feel like it's perfect for that awkward getting to know you drinks thing when you're not scenesty and you don't care about dating people who are. Good things about dates at Dive 75 (besides the fact that the addy is pretty much in the name) --Decent happy hour: 2-for-1 drinks 'til 8pm (I think. Or maybe 7) which is ideal since then you skip that "should we or shouldn't we" post first-drink discussion. --Board games. As long as you're not weirdly competitive --Plenty of seating options --Chocolate! And I also occasionally go to Dive 75 by myself when I'm on a deadline for writing. They have complimentary Wi-Fi, and people are friendly, but respectful. I feel like it's almost European just in the way a girl can go there alone, get left alone, but still have people to talk to if she's bored. One time I came here in my gym clothes, with my laptop, ended up doing work, then talking to a random guy from the neighborhood who was also there--and we ended up going on a couple dates. So while it's definitely not a pick up joint (and it'd be gross if it was), it's a place where people actually talk if they want to. Plus decent selection of beers. Only drawback is that there is no food, but there's plenty of places that deliver and a selection of menus. Some people love that, and some people don't. So just be aware. read more

Drink prices are decent, but you can hardly read the chalk board listing the beer list. Small and cramped, and more often than not, it's too crowded to get a table. Games are a great idea in theory, but almost all of them are missing pieces. The fish in the large tank in the bar look half-dead, which is depressing. I'm giving it 3 stars because there's always plenty of free candy, you can order take-out to the bar, it's super casual, and occasionally this place has worked nicely for catching up with a friend because the music is never so loud that it drowns out conversation. read more

Dive bar on UWS with games and romantic seating...like an oxymoron but it works. Drinks: GREAT!!!! They will water them down when they see you getting too sloshed, as they should. BUT they are great. Nice little local bar on the Upper West Side, where I stayed for 3 weeks. The personnel is kind and the customers consist of a blend of local regulars and the occasional walk-inners (like me in the beginning). They've got an ok selection of beer on draft (and I only say 'ok' because of the many Brooklyn bars with fantastic local microbrewery beers :-)) So come round and have a beer with us! Ps. Dive is not a name that does this corner bar justice. Located at W75th and Columbus (Look west for the entrance), Dive 75 is an urban professionals hideaway. You can start the day here at happy hour and easily find a reason to stay through game time. Or follow my old lead and stop in after a long work day to grab a quick drink before hitting the sack. The bar is a mix of table/bench and bar seating. Grab an area, grab a drink, and grab one of the multitude of board games that are available for bar patron play. One of the few neighborhood bars that let me keep my laptop behind the bar when I stopped in for drinks after the long walk from the midtown office. Although I have moved away, I still make it a point to visit when I am in the city. Recommend Dirty Martini, Margarita (Rocks). read more

Very cool spot. Decided to do a 1st date here and was glad I did. It was different and cool and chill for what I needed. Great craft beer selection, dishes full of candy, good crowd, nice bartenders that were very attentive and quick...AND what is a 1st date without playing some IPA skewed Battleship? How cool. They also had Connect Four, Scrabble and Apples to Apples if I remember correctly. Comfortable table seating, ok sized bar and a window rail with stools. The place was busy by 10, but it wasn't overcrowded or too loud for conversation. Big win. read more
