Dive 75 is another success from the UWS dive group that also includes, Dive Bar (at 96th) and Dive 101. Similar to the other outposts, Dive 75 has a wooden interior, great and cheap beer & drinks, and a large fish tank! The people who work here are also really nice. On any given night, they have a large selection of beers on tap, with most pretty cheap (the variety I ordered were all $7). The bar is divided into two parts, with the fish tank serving as the divider: one area near the actual bar where everyone is standing and another area full of couches, chairs, and tables. They also have boardgames, with Connect Four being the most popular. The bar is fairly sizable, but it gets packed on weekends. There's two bathrooms, but never too big of wait for them, even when it's busy. It's mostly a young crowd and I've had fun every time I've been here! read more

As a regular neighborhood bar, Dive 75 is great and lots of fun. The staff are awesome, we rarely leave without at least 1 or 2 rounds bought back, and the inclusion of board games and free bite-sized candy is neat and makes it all way more fun. But, if you're going to Dive because you've heard or read about their good beer selection, which they legitimately do have, keep that in mind that there's a downside. The beers (most of them, at least) always have a sour taste to them, like the lines need desperately to be flushed. read more

This cool bar is in my bff's neighborhood, so the walking distance part rawks obviously. Just a really cool, unpretentious environment. The drinks are stiff, bartenders very friendly, lots of seating options, great TV's. They have this huge fish tank in the middle of the room too, it's like going into your family room! read more

Visited before quarantine and meant to write a review. Awesome bar with a great vibe. Regulars are very friendly and welcoming and suggested quite a few great places for me to visit. If you get Steph or Dee as your bartenders you're in for a great night. They are quick with a drink suggestion and excellent company if it is slow and you get a chance to talk to them. I've been here when it's packed and when it's near empty... I prefer the latter. Sunday afternoons it's a great spot to grab a few friends, a board game from the shelves and some drinks! This is the quintessential neighborhood establishment, and they have a juke box with Madonna AND Pearl Jam. Sign.me.up. Pleasantly occupied on weeknights and perfectly packed on Friday/Saturday. And...people actually start conversations with others that AREN'T in their group of people they came with. SHOCKER! Prices are reasonable and the crowd is preppy law-school-esque. The bartenders are hysterical, remember my name (which I'm not sure is a good thing!) and I love that they have Scrabble! Also, you can order in food from local delivery places, which I love. A few rainy Friday nights have been spent playing chess or Connect 4, drinking a few too many glasses (or bottles...) of wine, and ordering in from Freds. A night of perfection in my book! Another notch on my UWS bedpost. I got one drink that somehow lasted me the entire two hours i was here. There's a lot to keep you entertained-- the fish tank is cool, there are games (like "Truth or Dare" Jenga... some of the dares are naughty!), and usually good company would make you want to stay a little longer than you had planned. Out of all the Dive Bars, i think this one is the lamest. The setup is awkward and limits access to the bar. If that wasn't bad enough, service was slow with prices higher then their local competitors. On the positive, it is a hamlet on a side street that most people don't know about. Love this place! Stop by on Thursday nights and ask for Steve - he's maybe the friendliest bartender in the entire city. Zeus, the bouncer, is maybe the friendliest bouncer in the city. Great people means a great vibe. Really chill and welcoming. They don't have food, but the binder full of take-out menus is pretty comprehensive. So are the rotating tap options, although I'd like to see a few more hoppy options. They're kinda light on IPAs and amber ales, which are what I normally go for, but they usually have at least one or two on tap. Oh, and they have Jenga! How cool is that? read more

Came here on a crowded Saturday night and even though it was a struggle to get through the crowd and there were drunk people yelling it was not a bad time. I guess when I think of the term "Dive Bar," I think of furniture held together with duct tape and toothless patrons. Dive 75 definitely does not fit this description. Still, it's a fairly nice, quiet neighborhood bar. The beer selection is okay, not good, not bad. You don't have to yell to talk, and perhaps the best part of all, it's near the Natural History Museum. I'll go back if I'm at the Natural History Museum, but I don't think I'd make a trip out specifically for Dive 75. read more

Some people wonder why it's called Dive 75, when it's clearly well-kept and nice. It's a reference to actual diving, and not so much gross, dive bar. Hence the big fish aquarium and nautical decoration. Anyway, this is a great bar. They have a great beer selection, from your low brow Bud Light to high brow Chimay. They don't serve food here, but they have a book of menus of nearby restaurants that will deliver. The best thing here are the games, though. Connect four, cranium, sudoku, othello, you name it. I was there early on a Tuesday night, so the place was pretty quiet. It seems a bit too small to support more than one rowdy group of drunken board game sports, but I can definitely see how this would be a popular go to spot for those who live in the area. For a long time this was my neighborhood bar in Manhattan, quite extraordinary because I lived on Long Island at the time. Great place to hang out with friends take over the couches by the fish tank and just hold court for hours at a time. Never pretentious and although it was a little frat housy I never had a bad time. The 2 most important reasons to try this bar are first and foremost the bartenders, always fun really sociable and cool, buy back come regularly and they always treat you right. Second reason is the fabulous juke box it always had a great miss of old and new and I could always spend at least $5 picking tunes. Well worth the trip to the upper west side. read more

For the upper west side it's not bad - which is essentially a empty statement that just means it's better than Prohibition. I've been there twice - once on a weeknight date. It was not crowded and the games gave us something to do and talk about (kindergarten). Second time it was with a friend on a Friday night - it was pretty super packed with a kind of staid 20-something pleated-khaki crowd. Very easy to talk to people, though. So I would recommend it for the week-night date/hang out scenario, but stay away on the weekends. read more

I would like to see a less stand-offish Bar-keep staff and possibly a better representation of American macro beers. Drink or Treat. One of my favorite bars in the city. A very relaxing atmosphere to drink and play some board games. Plus, it is like Halloween every day with the free candy treats around the bar. What's more, they always have a nice draft lineup, so you won't have any issues finding a good brew to wash down that candy. Besides the bowls brimming with Snickers, Kit-Kats and other yummy goodness, there isn't much going on here. Beers are fairly cheap, but it's just plain boring. And the bathrooms are gross and they smell. When it was empty on Sunday afternoon, letting us take over Connect Four and Jenga, it was understandable. Then my friend ate directly from their froyo machine and almost broke a chair, so we ran away before they had a chance to kick us out. Whoops. But I have been back two other normal bar times, 12:30ish on a Saturday night and late, like 2ish, one other weekend night. Practically dead both nights. One of my favorite local bars! I've been here multiple times and it's always great. The bartender, Steve, runs a very solid and very dependable bar. His focus on getting you the right drink is impeccable. He's always friendly and whenever he's there I always get a warm greeting, feels like coming home! Zeus is also great, he lent me the flashlight to fish my ID out of my handbag once, which was very much appreciated. The bowls of candy are always a plus, as are the board games. There's a game of Jenga that has some fantastic and hysterical suggestions on each block, always fun to play when bringing friends to the bar. The beer menu is always different and varied, and you can sample whatever you'd like. But with an accurate enough description of what you're looking for, Steve gets its correct right off the bat. This is my kind of bar. Relaxed atmosphere with great personnel and beer. Plenty of seating and seemingly always occupied, the bar always feels warm. The wife and I have had many connect 4 battles here and we haven't looked at any other games yet. Add in the free bar candy and we're like drunk kids playing at home. Love it. This place is one of my favorites, possibly because my best friend works here, but also because it's just a damn good time kind of bar. It's low key, so you don't have to get all fancy, it's got lots of bar & table seating, great music, board games and best of all good prices. Another perk is the location which is close to lots of restaurants & you can bring in a snack and eat it at the bar. My personal favorite is to dine on Shake Shack while enjoying a cold brew. This small bar has limited amount of seats and some sofa seats on the left where the games are. The bartenders are pretty attentive and gets drinks timely. OH and they have Sapporo! What I love is the wrapped candy instead of the usual nuts in a dish. Not only do I prefer chocolates, I hate the thought of other people possibly touching the peanuts before me. Perhaps it's because I had low expectations, but this is a great dive!! They had me at Connect Four...oh and the awesome (and cute!) bartender who indulged my friend on his bday and served pickle back shots to our boozy party. Jameson, go, pickle juice, go. Get 'er done! Add to this mix, a good sized pour, unpretentious prices, a great vibe with loud people and loud music alike, an aquarium (and supposedly candy but i didnt see any :-(, and you're left with a really great time. I came here after work race (Jp Morgan corporate challenge) when we got to the door, bouncer said we could not go in as it was at capacity. Half of my coworkers were already inside so we emphasized how it was a work event and he finally let us in. Once we got in, they have a full bar but no food! The bartender told us we can bring our own food in. They had a mix of nice beers on tap and not a various wine selection. Place is good to go for beginning of night or happy hour but not somewhere you plan to go for appetizers, food or a night out. read more

Dive 75 is a nice low key spot thats just verges on being divey. The good beer selection, candy and selection of board games are nice not to mention the abundance of seating. I used to like Dive 75 a lot more. There was one summer we discovered it and they had drink specials on my favorite beers alternating every night.all week. It was chill and we could grab a table and hang. Then one day we went and couldn't squeeze in the door, the drink specials were gone and people had ties on. I don't know if someone put a posting up about it on Goldman Sach's message board or what but I was unamused. Plus they have this odd thing about not letting you talk on your phone outside the bar because of the neighbor's noise complaints... kinda annoying. The gf and I went to a concert in Grand Central Park and met another couple there, we wanted to continue hanging out so we went to Dive 75 for a few drinks and chill atmosphere. I literally yelped this place and we walked there because it was so hot and all of our feet hurt and we really wanted an ice cold beer. Upon arriving we immediately noticed how small and yet how packed it was! We order a round of beers and found 4 stools and just chatted the night away as each of us took turns getting a round for the group. Budlights were $3-$4. I saw various people playing connect four and other board games. The group next to us even had a pizza delivered, which the bar didn't seem to mind, some places are a little weird about that stuff. This was definitely a hipster type of crowd, not that I have anything against it, I actually loved it! They have a really old cash register from like 19something behind the bar, that I really wanted. They don't use it, but it was cool decor. The staff was great. Never had to "try" to get a bartenders attention, they were on it and after the first round the bartender remembered my order and as soon as she saw me she would just pour 4 beers. If I lived in NY this would be my go to bar! :) read more

Really cool bar to hangout at. They have a really good and diverse beer selection and a lot of board games you can checkout and play with at your table. The bar had a good casual vibe, definitely worth checking out if you've never been. Only bad point was the one super bitchy bar tender who yelled at my friends and I for no apparent reason. This place is a hidden gem by central park. During happy hour theyre super busy but the bartender is quick. You don't have to wait forever for a drink. Super friendly staffs. The bartender didn't mind helping me she even gave me a couple of samples to try before i decide what I want. Music was great. Decent crowd at that time. They even have games and chips and candy. Bouncer was super nice compared to other bars. I will definitely come back when I'm going to central park. read more
