Meals came out before the silverware and napkins...even after asking at least 3 times. Wasn't busy so shouldn't have been any confusion. Couldn't get a water if you were on fire, asked twice and had to go to bar since server forgot. Asked for sliders extra well done - came out as a chopped up patty (not sliders) medium well. Didn't eat them..server never asked if things were ok. Kept disappearing to who knows where. French fries were decent, wings seemed ok (friends got them). But had to ask for sauce 2-3 times. I recently revisited Dive Bar and Grille! Overall, I had a really great time. They have excellent happy hour specials. We ordered the nachos with chicken. The nachos were really delicious, but I wish that there had been a little more toppings/cheese sauce. They come with a bean dip, which was good and unique, but I also enjoy some guacamole or pico with nachos. For my meal, I ordered the Gouda Turkey melt. It was SO good and I really recommend. The bread was delicious and perfectly toasted. My friend ordered the chicken Caesar wrap. Like the nachos, she wished maybe there was a bit more dressing in the wrap, as she found it a little dry. What a South Side gem. I have gone for both brunch and dinner and have always left satisfied. The service is fast and pleasant (both bar and dining). The inside is clean and has a nice atmosphere. They have a good drink/beer selection and carry my person favorite Sour Monkey. I usually get the Thai chicken wrap with sweet potato tots that come with a delicious and warm brown sugar butter for dipping. The nachos and mozzarella logs are solid appetizers. I ordered delivery on a Sunday night. The food came earlier than predicted which is always a good thing. I got the bar wings with Honey Sriracha sauce, fries, and asian slaw. It was $11.50 for 10 wings, which is decent, and I read the happy hour price is even better. There wasn't that much sauce, and the wings weren't well-coated. It felt like the wings were placed in the box, sauce dumped on top, and the delivery guy was in charge of getting the sauce distributed during delivery. The fries were mainly just a bunch of edge slivers containing skin. The slaw was pretty heavy, and almost a little too greasy for my taste. However, the cabbage/carrots were fresh. I saw a trend with in-restaurant meal reviews being yummier, so this place is probably not the best for delivery. I'd definitely give this place a try in-person next time during a happy hour. read more

My friends and I decided to come here to celebrate one of our's birthdays and since they have indoor dining, it was one of the best choices. Going on a Friday night with a party of 9, there's going to be a wait. It's a very modern little bar/restaurant and with COVID, the seating is minimal of course; so expect there to be a little bit of a wait if you go on a weekend around the prime dinner-time. Regardless, we were very pleased with this restaurant. Our server was very polite and understanding if we needed more time than usual to figure out what to order using the QR code on every table for the menu. Their bar is open to serve drinks to bring to your table, and they have a beer list posted on the wall if you wanted to try. The table ordered zucchini fries, spinach artichoke dip, and fried pickles which all looked and tasted amazing, especially the dip. I ordered the ahi tuna wrap and it comes with a choice of a side; which I ordered fries. The wrap was a good size, delicious, and had a refreshing taste with the ginger dressing inside. I would definitely recommend this place for a casual night out dinner date or a little elevated group dinner like we did. We stopped in here for dinner on our weekend visit to Pittsburgh. The atmosphere was cool and hip. They offered all kinds of local beers and drinks. The food we ordered was decent . We got the Rueben rolls for an appetizer which were good but not great. My girlfriend ordered the Pittsburgh steak bowl which was rather boring and uninspired. I ordered the Dive elite burger which was far from elite. It was not very flavorful and just lacked everything from the beer cheese which was not even noticeable or the fried pickle spear "on the side". I actually had to ask for one of their house made wing sauces to flavor it up and eat it. The highlight was probably the sweet potato tater tots which we both agreed were good. LET me tell you something about this place.... they have good food. They had half off appetizers when I arrived so I decided to take advantage of them.... I MEAN their special..... and order 3 items. A new(er) southside spot is a nice addition. There is a great selection on the menu and the happy hour prices are amazing! There are a variety of apps on the menu, and they are half priced during their happy hour to compliment a drink of the day and reduced wine / beer prices. The staff has been very friendly each time I've been there and very knowledgeable about the menu. I'm always happy when I ask about the beer selection and they offer a sample if it's something new - certainly helped me find a good one! The chicken wings are pently for a full meal for me. I had the regular ones with all different sauces for dipping, because I couldn't choose just one. The spicier the better for me, so I went with the sriracha / spicy / garlic flavored ones. Went in about 6 or so Friday night -healthy crowd but not elbow to elbow. We sat at a table while waiting for some bar stools to open up. Prior to getting to the bar, we ordered dinner. I had the Thai chicken wrap. Good crunch, big flavor , Thai peanut sauce was bomb, and the Asian slaw served as a side was fresh and very well seasoned. Woman had the steak which she said was good but she didn't leave me a bite so there you have it. Service was crazy quick-I've waited longer at fast food joints before. Scrolling through looking for a new place I haven't tried and come across restaurant with a dish containing Kālua pork. Instantly, I know what and where I'm ordering from. I have eaten Kālua pork on the Hawaiian islands as well as California so maybe I'm spoiled but what I received is 100% not Kālua pork. More like shredded beef that sat in a crockpot with pineapple and soy sauce. Since I've already started the rant I guess I should mention, no macaroni salad/coleslaw?? We split a small plate and a large plate and that was more than enough for us, plus a couple of drinks! Service was great and the atmosphere is nice: not too loud, but still busy enough to not feel dead. The pretzel sticks are bomb, plus very nicely-priced. I would get these again on my next visit here. We also got the stacked mac and cheese, which comes with buffalo chicken tenders on top. Wasn't a huge fan of the added chicken because it was slightly dry and there were only a few pieces - I would probably get the regular mac and cheese next time I came. Dive Bar's happy hour is M-F 5-7 and S-S 9-11 and consists of 1/2 off apps and great cocktail/beer/wine specials! In addition to the happy hour specials Dive Bar has weekly specials too, we happened to be there on 1/2 price sandwich night! I swear between the apps and the sandwiches we could pick from almost the entire menu at 1/2 off! We ended up choosing fried pickles, loaded croquettes, quesadilla, and the turkey Cobb sandwich with sweet potato tots. Everything was sooo yummy! I have to say the sweet potato tots were addicting and served with a cinnamon butter that I couldn't get enough of! I can't wait to go back and try some more happy hour apps! read more

we went to the s. side for another bar. unfortunately, it didn't open til 4 & it was about 3. we were hungry! hey, let's try this dive bar! we love the lawrenceville location. this 1 was much different inside than the lawrenceville one. this had a 2nd floor. there was a college game on & it was packed up there. & noisy! the walls were mostly brick which did nothing to soften the din from above. & it was 3 in the afternoon! i could imagine what it's like later in the evening. the 1st floor wasn't full, but the only staff was the bartender, & he was humping. a little later, more staff arrived. they helped quite a bit because by then, the 1st floor was filling in. we ordered a glass of merlot & a glass of cab. as seems to happen, the merlot i got was the end of the bottle, & it wasn't good. tom took it & gave me his glass. he is such a sweetheart! i love him so much! our appetizer came. the ahi tuna bites, tasty little snack! tom got the french dip & i got the poutine-ish bowl. we ate every last bit! but none of it tasted/compared to the preparations we've had at the lawrenceville bar. the app was missing the heat. the pork in my bowl was really spicy. too spicy for me. not like lawrenceville! everyone was really kind. if you're in the south side, check them out. but if you can go the the lawrenceville location, go there. sorry! read more

It was pretty desolate but I didn't mind having the place basically to myself. I ordered the mahi sandwich with fries. The pineapple and chipotle sauce were perfect. Happy Hour Review: This is a great place for HH. Solid app options and cocktail for a great deal. My friend and I met up here after work. We split three apps (all of which are half price). We had the southern comfort (quesadilla with pulled pork and mac and cheese), spinach dip and panko shrimp. Very random selections but all of which were solid. My friend opted for a beer and I went for a scotch cocktail (just one of those days). They were both $2 off. The waitress was very on top of everything, even with it being pretty busy since the Steelers were playing. This place is a great call for HH, but not sure I can speak to any other time of the day. read more

Awesome happy hour. Maybe the best deal I've found in Pittsburgh so far. Select items are HALF OFF like wings and some bomb quesadillas. Servers here were super cool and the beer list was good too with a lot of local brews. I had an order of wings which were tasty, my date had shrimp and grits, and we also split a quesadilla that had pulled pork and Mac and cheese in it. Honestly I was not impressed. First I am not a fan of the name. I know it's nitpicky but name a place "dive bar" and making it very corporate looking just irks me. But I gave it a try none the less. It is loud! Even though everyone was just sitting at the tables talking to each other the design of the room makes it nearly impossible to hear the waitress. Or the people you came there with. Eventually we got tired of screaming "sorry I didn't catch that" and just ate in "silence". I ended up with a burger and it was okay. Nothing special. Dive Bar was an unexpected finding for us. I ordered the Greek salad and my husband had a burger with sweet potato tots. I thought the sweet potato tots were delicious dipped into the cinnamon sugar icing. We also tried the nachos and fried pickles. Normally, I love every type of fried pickle. This time, I wasn't as impressed- the breading was delicious, but slid right off so I was eating the pickles separate from the breading. The queso sauce on the nachos was DELICIOUS. I could have eaten another serving of the nachos, rather than the pickles. I wish they would have had more vegetarian options and maybe a choice for soup.
