After almost 9 years I'm walking away from this salon. Specifically Brittany. I gave it a 2nd chance after she fried my hair in December- she denies the errors she made which has cost me now close to 2 inches of breakage and my hair is still in shock and shreds and breaks. Tears every day. we are in May. I was there yesterday and was trying to get all dark back into my hair to start getting it to look healthy again as the golden was so damaged as was not what I ever wanted. She barely listened. I brought back up what I told her in March (yes, I kindly waited until later as she was already dealing with personal items) about how in December she over bleached my hair with highlights all over and some lowlights: the rule with my hair is very few highlights and not take the gold through to the ends. She had been great until this. Well as she was going through a breakup in December and walked in late and a mess and in tears - she proceeds to do my hair. And was more focused on her upset and her ex kept texting and that was her focus. She put SO MUCH BLEACH ALL OVER AND THROUGH THE ENDS. Its like she was working on autopilot. I was under the heat lamp for longer than I ever had been: I even asked why; and she said because it's a lot of bleach (I silently was petrified). She was so out of it I had to ask her to pay her when she was done! See the photos. There's one with my hair healthy and LONG. This was before December. Then look at the photos from after! You can see tons of gold and the it's all the way to the ends! It's in shock. It does not stay styled and sleek. I tried to kindly talk to her, she refused to acknowledge she did that. She saw the photos, and my hair live. She just said "I'm getting uncomfortable". What! How about how uncomfortable "I am" that I'm watching all this breakage and damage and she denies she did it. And could care less! She had excuses, kept interrupting and kept saying I just need a good haircut. Ok: let's be real. NOT EVERYONES HAIR IS THE SAME: some cannot have hair cut off and it grows back fast. It's a myth that you need to cut your hair every 8 weeks to make it grow. That works for some. Not all. Regardless this girl could care less about the damage she created and couldn't apologize. I did not bleach my hair: she did! She should have not been doing hair that day as she was not focused. I gave her a second chance but as soon as she denied and was childish about it I said "please just rinse my hair, I'm leaving". I didn't finish the treatment yesterday. I still threw cash on her table. Everyone told me I shouldn't have. Nor should I have even gone back. Now I agree. I was very kind about this even though now it's going to take a long time to get my healthy long hair back. I guess if she was mature she'd be accountable. I will say she, for YEARS did a great job. But that was a huge lack of integrity and very disrespectful toward me. I hope she learns to be a better person. I doubt the owner would care. Or anyone else there for that matter. Such a shame. And wasted my day yesterday on top of it. I was referred to someone closer to home. We will get my hair to health again. Be careful with these young stylists. Attitude and disrespect and no regard for what they do. read more

It was my happenstance that I found Arlin. I was a patient at Kaiser and asked a nurse where she got her hair done and she referred me to Arlin. I needed a trim desperately because I had a baby and was going through the 4 month hair loss. My hair was dull, thin, brittle and lifeless. Arlin was able to schedule me in and took gentle care of my hair. I was on a tight schedule and she was able to finish in my window. She even applied a hair mask to help revive my hair. She made sure to use a low setting on the dyson blow dryer to protect my hair. I'm really happy with her work and her energetic personality. I can't wait for her to color my hair next! read more

It's a high end salon without any of the arrogant nonsense you get from a similar type of salons offering their services. Sesen did a fantastic job braiding my daughter's hair. My mom introduced me to Denny, who she's been going to for the past three months. After deciding I was overdue for a haircut, I decided to give him a try. I have long, thick hair that can be unmanageable at times. Denny cut off a couple of inches and gave me a few layers so that it's easier to maintain. Yesterday I went in to Diverse salon for a color correct. My beautiful virgin hair was felt looking like hair after I decided to box dye it. It looks dry and had spots of different colors. It looked like I had different colors. I went to see Brittany her integran showed me how talented she was. She was able to take me the next day. Ahead of time I sent her pictures of my hair and what I want and she replied quickly and gave my an estimate of cost. When I arrived I was anxious and worried she wouldn't be able to fix my hair. She did a great job answering all my questions to ease my nervous and reassured me. Everything she did she would explain why she was doing it. After 2.5 hours she completely transformed my hair.. She not only corrected my hair color, she matched my hair to my extensions perfectly! Sesen my extension lady works there. As always she did an amazing job putting on my sew in weave. Erin and Brittany... you guys are seriously the best!!!! You turned my horrifically traumatic hair ordeal into a painless and extremely pleasant experience. I had never had my hair professionally dyed prior to a few months ago. I'm legitimately clueless. I let a friend practice on my virgin hair and quickly realized I agreed to her bleaching my hair resulting in a gross yellow color. I was unaware of terms such as "summer hair" or "root block" I simply trusted the process thinking I'd have a different shade of brown... lesson learned. As the days passed it got brighter and brighter... I'm a dark haired girl. So out of desperation I used a box hair dye to tone it down and kill my embarrassment. When I connected with Erin she reassured me that my hair would be ok and that they could fix it. Bless their hearts omg... So Brittany performed the magic while Erin kept watch. The results were amazing! I wish I took a before and after without my face to share. Next time... but my hair went from funky crunchy yucky yellow weirdness to gorgeous brown in 2 hours. **update from my previous review a few years back*** I continue to come to Diverse for everything from my hair extensions, washes, and even when my own family is in town I make my Mom an appointment. They're always 100% honest and want to make sure I'm happy. I can't recommend this place enough *********** I was referred to this salon by a previous employee of Diverse. I was on the hunt for extensions or something that would make me look like I had hair. I've had a lot of hair loss due to some medical issues and it was starting to become a burden for me to work with. Especially because it was clear it was thinning and coming out. Oh well, what can you do. I decided it wasn't in my control, and if I can buy some hair and make it look like mine then it wasn't an issue. I walked in randomly after being referred in to Hareg and I was of course totally freaked out by the idea of this process because I have basically no hair to work with. Hareg said extensions wouldn't look good or natural because my hair was very thin on top, and suggested a full weave. She must have seen my face change or something, and she was like "don't worry people do them all the time" she is so sweet and really has the patience of a saint because I asked a lot of questions. I made my appointment for about a week out and came back. The receptionist Danni greeted me and she's awesome too. Her vibe and general energy made me feel at ease while we were looking at hair and waiting for Hareg because I was early. Hareg came out and helped me pick what I wanted and she started . Not only was it painless but she was fast! I think I walked out in under two hours, and that included the braiding process, and her cutting the hair. You can tell that this salon is like a family and Hareg loves her job and her staff. I will never ever go anywhere else. Ladies if you are at all considering a weave for any reason, be it you just have thin hair, want a change, or have medical problems like myself....just do it. I had tape-in extensions for a better part of 3 years. I never liked how they felt in my hair or how I could not put my hair up without them showing. It was also freaking expensive to keep up with. $800 to put them in and $400 to remove. Not to mention the color maintenance on top if that. My bank was in tears ever 6 weeks!!! I finally had enough of it and had them removed about 3 weeks ago. Ever since I've been hating my hair. It's super fine and completely broken at the ends from the bleaching etc. I couldn't take it anymore so started calling around to try a weave instead. My EA at work swears by them. I reached Hareg at Diverse and said she wanted to give me a consultation to see what I needed and give me a quote. She had an appointment in 40 mins so off I went. Within an hour I had 3 sets of weave ins added to my hair and I was smiling from ear to ear! I've been getting hair extensions on and off since 2009. That's 7 years. Always Doing itip and paying at least 250 for the hair.. And at least 150 for the technicians time... Well, after finding Hareg, I only spent 180 for gorgeous hair. And $60 to have it put in and blended! My hair looks fabulous!! UPDATE: 6/7/16- I went to Oregon for 2 weeks because my mom passed away. I got my hair colored while there and I asked for a clean up. They destroyed it. Literally, it's never looked worse. Enter Diverse salon. The day after I got back, I asked if anyone could help me. This review is specifically for Alberto. But from what I could tell during my first time at Diverse Salon, it could easily be extended to the entire salon. I have been struggling for the past 14 years, since I moved to California, to find someone who could handle my hair. It is basic European hair with three prominent cowlicks. I have tried every type and price of salon in every city in the South Bay, and became reserved to investing my money in hair products to keep my cowlicks under partial control, finding that crew fiber gave me the best hold without looking too much like product in my hair. I gave it one last go, and let my hair grow into a bush for about 3-6 months I think, all the while screening yelp and google reviews. I can tell you that Diverse Salon earns their high rating. Yes, the experience at the salon was nice, and the atmosphere pleasing...but what I wanted was a good, professional haircut. I can sum it up like this: I don't have to use a single gram of crew fiber or anything else. My hair looks great and all three cowlicks are perfectly behaved. Even after getting out of bed, it still looks great. I don't know what Alberto's magic is, but I can honestly say I have never been this happy with a haircut in my life. I hope I haven't jinxed the situation, as the first haircut is always the best it seems, from every location I've gone to in the bay, after which the level of attention wanders completely away (there were two exceptions to that, but they were barbers, and entirely different types of haircuts). I am very pleased, and I confidently predict from Alberto's behavior and that of all the other stylists, that the quality will continue. read more

Segen did such a wonderful job on my extension, her braids are so small and I had no pain, she is fast unlike my friends that have to sit for 3 hours I was out with beautiful hair in 1 hour! This review is for Parisa, the fabulous esthetician, working at Diverse. About 5 years ago I started seeing Parisa. I first started seeing her because in my early 30s I was still suffering from horrible acne around my chin. Having suffered with acne my entire life, I was at my wits end and needed a miracle. I luckily put faith in Parisa, and today, my skin is dramatically different. I have to preface all of this by saying that I was cheap and was scared when I thought about how much all this facial stuff would cost...more about this later. Parisa discovered that my skin was no longer oily, but dry. So all of the products I had been hoping would work didn't and I am guessing they didn't because I wasn't receiving the moisture my skin yearned for. Parisa recommended the Collins skin care line that she uses and it's expensive! So, I tried individual products little by little, and here's where Parisa was very understanding about the transition of products and the costs. I no longer use the Collins line because Parisa was kind enough to ask the collins rep. which lines on the market were similar and the answer was No7 (which you can find at Target). I now use that product and I am happy with it. Sooo, 5 years later, I rarely have any break outs. I see Parisa every 4 weeks for a facial. What's also important to note is that her facials are super relaxing! She devotes time to massage the face, neck, shoulders and back, so...you relax and your skin looks better--sounds like a win-win to me. I've recommended lots of my friends to her and now they're Parisa faithfuls. read more

Beware! I bought hair at this salon for extentions. I paid $300 and the hair was great. It was real hair. The front desk does the sales, she told me then that the way to tell if you ever get bad hair (meaning not REAL hair, synthetic mixed in with it) that it would tangle and mat up. Well the first purchase lasted me almost a year before it started tangling and matting up. (that is just from time and styling tools, totally normal). When I purchased again, they didn't have the same hair I originally purchased so they sold me what they said was similar for same $300. I bought it 9/27 and had it put in 10/10 and by 11/1 it was tangling and matting up. It looked like a rats nest. Totally disgusting. It is horrible, it takes forever to get tangles out and you lose wads of hair even just using your fingers to comb through the rats nest. It isn't cheap to take out, buy more and pay to put back in. So just dealing with it till I could afford new hair (SOMEWHERE ELSE). My stylist suggested I go back to Diverse and ask for a refund as it is so recent and talk to them. So I did. I asked to talk to the salon owner, Harag (?) who I thought was a person who cared about her business, reputation and customer satisfaction. WRONG! She didn't give two sh..s. She rambled on about how they have a sign posted saying they can't guarantee the hair quality and that all she could do is offer a discount on new hair. Are you kidding me? Like I really want to buy more there and not know if my new hair will last a month, and get only $30 discount. I understand you can't refund everyone but then again if you are selling quality product, your customers wouldn't be returning the hair. I have been a customer for a year, coming in every month. This is a $300 loss at the expense of this salon. When I purchased this hair, I was already in their chair and had my old hair being rebraided, this new hair was to be put in next time but had to buy it while I had the money. I found Diverse Salon through my Yelp app( thank you Yelp, and thank you Yelpers...sounds like a segment on the Tonight show...lol. But seriously thank you). I had the pleasure of having Arlin as my stylist and she was incredible! She was very friendly and listen to all of my hair wants :) I have very long hair with long layers. I was in need of a trim and clean-up on my layers. I also needed a root touch-up. Arlin noticed that my roots where dark than my ends. I explained to her that in fact my ends are lighter and she asked if I would like to have a color wash done to liven the color. I fully agreed with her suggestion and had it done. While she was applying the dye to my ends, I asked her if she had ever had her brows tinted (something I don't really need but I have heard it dose fill in those gaps) she said she had and asked if I wanted that done. Not only did she do a fabulous job on my hair ( cut and color), but now my brows are looking on point! Arlin also cut my daughter's hair and gave her the cutest long sweeping bangs ( something my daughter wanted and I caved and it came out so cute!!) Arlin is amazing and talented and listens to your hair dreams and makes them a reality!! read more

This is review is OVER due and there shouldn't be a star on this review period. Yelp only have 1-5 stars. I don't write yelp review before. Wish I've taken the matter further back then so Alberto will not damage/destroyed another client hair for years. I just moved in town and looking for a color salon with extensions for a vacation with my fiancé. I called to make an appointment for April 12,2016. I arrived and Erin was at the front desk. We discussed what service I would like. And I told her around 8 months or so I have color my hair dark. Today I want to go light. Ombré balayage like medium brown on roots and lighter at end. Erin and I went over the style it sounds great. She even suggested adding Olaplex during the process. Which makes sense. She explained to Alberto what color I like to achieve and style. Ombré balayage. He looks like he doesn't know what he's doing. I don't know what I was thinking to not stop him...he didn't know what to use to foils in. It looks like he was trying to put one here and there not even in line correctly. I was nervous when I saw him not putting bleach on parts of my hair. I wasn't sure what he was doing. Long story short, we go to shampoo bowl. He didn't know how to support my neck with a towel. I was freestyle head in shampoo bowl with my neck up in the air. Another stylist was washing another client hair next to us. She said put a towel Under her neck. Imagine if I was in that position till he's finish washing my hair. Then another stylist said do toner now on her hair. At this point I realized I make a big mistake coming here. I found Diverse Salon on yelp. What make it more mind boggling. The entire time he's washing my hair. He's talking about hair products from Mexico that either he have or will order. Then he go on about his girlfriend not wearing makeup and she's beautiful this and that...what does that have to do with my hair. Shouldn't he go to hair shows/store in US to see what products it's approve. This is where I almost have a nervous break down and cry! He removed the towel and blow dry my hair. He look confused. I was about to walk out but didn't want to make a situation out of it. I now have around 6 colors I'm furious. After the dry, to make matter worse. He foil patches here and there. The first process I saw him putting bleach near my roots and none at bottom ends. It was a mess! He redo patches with bleach and foil again. I look like someone have fried my hair. I told him to stop. It's done I'm leaving my hair looks like a Troy doll been in a fire. At front desk, I asked him what do you think of my hair. He said great, then he asked me to pay $175 I was beyond upset. I was about to say no did you not see how you destroyed my hair?! But since I pay ALL my bills and have never had a bad hair service. I paid and I must been in SHOCKED beyond awareness...he asked for a tip!!!!! I was furious and still tip $40!! At that point I was thinking this is pitiful. You can have the money have you no shame. Total $215 I don't want to pay but there's people around, didn't want a scene. I haven't been is a situation like this. I don't know how to deal with it. Alberto destroyed my hair. It is damaged for years. Erin however did reached out to me the next morning. She asked me to return to Diverse Salon so SOMEONE can fix my hair. I didn't want to be rude considering what had happened to me. Erin was very professional throughout the visit and with the phone call. I'm still in shock and not sure if I'm right thinking this but if Alberto have no clue how to color hair. Is other stylist at this salon on his page. So I answer no Im not going back to get my hair fix. I cried and cried, same night and next morning I take photos to send to others stylist. Not caring how much it will cause for correction. This is a nightmare to say the least. Tova Day Spa at the Fairmont Hotel San Jose. They relocated this 2019. Vivian whom I reached out to after so many. She is a master hair color correction I was told. She tell me that she will use probably everything she have in her collection to save my hair during the process. So many bottles were on the table. All I researched with my phone at her salon is very expensive lines. she protected my hair with treatment after treatment during coloring even the wash. She call miracle solutions to badly damaged colors hair. Honestly till these day I don't know how she did it. My hair is ombré balayage even being short and she added extensions. I never trust another hair stylist with my hair. Due to Alberto damaging my hair to that extent. The grow rate slow down and even Vivian and other stylist continues to give my hair treatment till these days. Caused me so much for the damage at Diverse Salon and Tova Day Spa for hair color correction by a master hair color correction. Years later I'm still under hair treatment for damaged hair. My husband goes to Alberto, who does a fantastic job with the multiple textures of my husband's hair. He's also happy to have our toddler sit and watch daddy get his hair cut. Hareg is still my go-to for sew in extensions! I've been going to her on off for several months now & I'm never disappointed. I've heard extension horror stories about the extension hair coming off in chunks, or the natural hair becoming bald from roughly installing & taking out extensions. Luckily, it's never happened to me once! My real hair hasn't ever been so healthy before & it's just getting better & better! If done properly, it is a protective hairstyle that should work to benefit the health of your real hair. At the same time, I can have any hairstyle I want whenever I want it! Also, Diverse Salon isn't too expensive when it comes to sew in extensions either, compared to other salons with different methods such as Brazilian knots that would cost several hundreds just for 1 install. My wife bought a human-hair piece that needed styled and the proprietor of the wig shop recommended Denny from this salon. We made the appt and arrived to find a very nice salon that specialized in extensions and such. During my wife's appointment she asked Denny if there was a more private area for a style because I ordered a wig that will require styling. Denny stated that I'd be fine in the general work area as no body would care, I was still very self-conscious. He then told of a small private room that we could use when the time came. His fee for working on my wife's hair piece was far cheaper than we expected and was quite a charming individual. I whole-heartedly recommend this salon for all hair requirements. read more

Beautiful salon and friendly/comfortable environment. Alberto (http://www.yelp.com/biz/alberto-virgen-campbell) is a hair guru! He is passionate, knowledgeable, and friendly! I immediately felt comfortable with Alberto. He gives high end service and expertise but comes off like a friend. I have super curly hair and it would take me 45mins-1hr to straighten my hair before and it was still frizzy, so Alberto gave me a Brazilian blow out (smoothing treatment) and a haircut. I've been coming here for almost 5 years and I love the place! Dani is the main receptionist and I know I'm guaranteed a laugh when I see her. My appointments have never been messed up and they'll always call to confirm. Hareg has been my go to and she is extremely sweet and funny. It's like going to see a friend rather than going to an appointment. The prices are beyond reasonable and, as long as you take care of your hair, it will last you quite a while. The tracks are tight enough to last and the hair is sewn in with extreme precision. I am in love with having long hair now and have started playing with different colors added in! I have already recommended at least a half dozen people here but I'm surprised that I have not written this yet (oops, sorry). I had my Babe tape extensions put in by Erin Riley 2 weeks ago for my destination wedding to Hawaii. I already have long hair but wanted to add some fullness. The process was so much easier than I thought it would be. It probably only took 30 minutes to actually have the extensions put in. I was nervous as I had never had any type of extensions before. I just kept thinking that they were going to bother me the whole time. I was able to swim in the ocean and style my hair as normal with no issues at all. The extensions are still in my hair and I haven't had any issues. Just a little itchy near the scalp here and there but that is totally normal. The best part is that the extensions are reusable, so once I have them taken out I can save the hair and have tape reapplied to the hair for another use Erin did a great job! It was my first time there so I'll give 3 stars for the short notice appointment. It was a Friday-- not too busy. Amelia was my hair stylist, I liked how she was outgoing. She kept the conversation going so it wasn't awkward. The first thing I'd have to mention though, is that when she clipped my hair at the top-- she kinda dug it into my scalp and pushed the points in. Uhm, ouch? She must've noticed though cuhz I know I winced. I only went in for a trim-- 2-3inches were fine but she kept insisting with, "I'll just do 1 1/2" . So I was okay that's fine .. Then she asked to curl my hair. I didn't really wanna apply heat to my hair cuhz I'm tryna keep it healthy.. She said "lets just do it." I said sure, so I let her. BUT WOW. She was rough with that too. -__-She was pulling my hair with the hair curler- not gently. I think she should practice on a mannequin head a little bit more cuhz if she did, she'd notice the head constantly topple over with how hard she was pulling. My neck should not be going all sideways. I asked for long layers. Subtle . My layers are really subtle.. the cut's not really how I pictured it, and my bangs are crooked Hair grows back so I'm not really mad.. but I wouldn't pay $35 for it. Maybe $20 would've been more reasonable ‍ read more
