As a real estate investor who has a pretty standard W2 job - I wanted an expert to help us (my fiance and I) get the most depreciation from our real estate investments and we were willing to pay the high premium for their expertise. Well boy, were we wrong. At first everything was going according to plan...until it wasn't.... Caroline stopped responding to emails and phone calls until I had to call her assistant multiple times a week to ask for follow ups as we were approaching our tax extension deadline quickly. Finally got a hold of Caroline and she started filing our taxes using all of our documents we sent her from Quickbooks - we also had a brief (under 5 minute conversation about potentially doing a Cost Seg on our new investment property and while we were on the phone, we both agreed it wouldn't be financially beneficial for us to do that this year and we would revisit next year). Then this is where it turned south quickly. Caroline and her team got all of our documents together and since they charged $3,000+ to file our taxes - I thought we would be getting money back to offset it. Well on the phone when she and her team went through the filing, she had stated "great news, we are going to end up with a $14,000 tax return"..... turns out on email the very same day the tax return went from $14,000 to $4,000 so barely enough to cover our costs to hire Jeff Baker & Associates. This was Red flag #1. It was honestly extremely unprofessional to state and get us excited on one number and then put in an email a completely separate number that was much lower. Also, she denies ever saying that number but both of us heard the number loud and clear and had written the same number ($14,000) down in our notebooks - so it just didn't appear out of thing air as she claimed. Red Flag #2 popped up quickly after we had realized that we wouldn't be getting any money back, instead we would be in the negatives this year after paying Caroline & her team. Caroline sends her invoice and what pops up.... an $1,250 additional charge for a Cost Segregation....which again we decided not to do and she mentioned she charged us that amount because we had that conversation with her and she provided expert advise. She then asked if I would consider a $350 discount on the $1,250 fee she was trying to charge us - absolutely laughable. Needless to say after the experience I had with her team by this point....we did not pay the additional $1,250 fee and only paid for the work she did for us. Unfortunately, Caroline and Jeff Baker & Associates was a referral and I didn't do as much due diligence as I should have. DO NOT MAKE MY MISTAKE. I would use anyone over Caroline & her team. It was an unsatisfactory experience at best and one that hurt us financially as well. We will never make that same mistake again and would never recommend this company to anyone.

We have been forced to transfer accountants due to being flat out put on the back burner. Calling with questions or getting questionable bills in the mail from the IRS that they should have paid. On top of that they never took responsibility for their mistakes! Just said to have my current accountant fix the issue. Never in my life would I recommend this place to anyone. After my new accountant looked over out taxes for the previous two years she saw several places where they made mistakes or numbers didn't add up and they just made a fake account like inventory to put all the leftovers. Needless to say we had a big mess to clean up at the expense of our company. They are more interested in passing out their religious pamphlets then actually running a professional business. First off this review is for my elderly parents, well just my mom now as my father passed away…read moreduring this process. This place took our families money for 35 years without a single home owner policy claim and then our home caught on fire. They would not cover enough to replace the home. We are having to come out of pocket for 20 percent of the new costs. What did we pay these guys for? That just does not make sense to me but what do I know. The next issue was that they said it was our responsibility to pay to have the old home demolished and removed. Again what did we pay these guys for, it was an additional 25-30k for this and how is that not covered? How does a Vietnam Vet living off of social security come up with this kind of money? It took a lot longer to get the old home removed due to all the COVID restrictions this last year. State Farm had put my parents up in an apartment during the process. That was appreciated. The apartment was however a dump. You know the kind of place that you and 4 of your friends rent when you first graduated. It pains me to think about my father dying on the bathroom floor of that dump. The real issue now is that the new home is almost ready, literally weeks away from being done. State Farm has kicked my mother out of the apartment, said the process took too long. Literally told her to hit the streets during Christmas time and that come January they had to leave. Where they go is not their problem. Can you believe this? It gets better, they have now told her because she had a claim her insurance is canceled but she can come back in two years. What a joke. Why would anyone ever go back to this kind of treatment? It has been one thing after another compounded by my fathers death (on the bathroom floor of a dirtbag apartment). The only positive here is that her new homeowners and auto policies are significantly cheaper. I can't say how I really feel on this platform but I am sure you can get the idea. Rob
