I dined in for lunch to get the full experience…read more Tony's is a small, no frills local restaurant that feels very rooted in Birmingham's history. The atmosphere is casual and nostalgic, with regular customers coming in and staff who clearly know many of them by name. It has that classic American hot dog stand feel that reflects a long standing Southern food culture. I ordered a classic hot dog with chili and mustard, fries, and a drink. The food was simple, affordable, and filling. From a public health perspective, this type of restaurant represents traditional comfort food that is high in sodium and processed meats, which we know can contribute to chronic disease when eaten frequently. However, it also plays an important role in community identity and accessibility. The prices are reasonable, making it an option for people looking for a quick, inexpensive meal. Overall, Tony's reflects how cuisine culture is not just about nutrition, but also about tradition, affordability, and local history. It was a solid experience and a good example of how food connects people in a community.

Just a tiny, iconic hole in the wall that exists for one reason: to serve hot dogs that mean business. When you walk in, you already know you're not here for the décor. You're here because you're craving a hot dog and you want it done right. I ordered the Chicago dog, which showed up looking like it had zero intention of fitting politely inside its bun. This thing was juicy, oversized, and required a concerning amount of napkins. The pickles were crisp, the peppers had the right bite, the mustard was exactly what it should be. Everything hit. The only thing missing was that neon green relish that looks radioactive but somehow makes a Chicago dog official. I kind of missed it. A little. Then I got adventurous. Mistake number one. I ordered the Beef Sandwich, what I can only describe as a sloppy joe with a pickle on top. It sounded bold. It tasted... fine. Not terrible. Not memorable. Just sort of there. It's like I betrayed the hot dog gods and they let me know. My colleague went with the burger, which Tony's is apparently campaigning as "best of" material with the local news crowd. He said it was decent and a great value. High praise in burger language. Now the onion rings? Absolute perfection. Crispy, golden, and cooked exactly the way onion rings should be cooked. No notes. If I had stuck strictly to the hot dogs, this would've been an easy five-star situation. But I strayed. That's on me. Four stars. Next time, I'm staying loyal to the dogs.

Service was okay, though when I asked what kind of hot dogs they used, they had no clue. I ordered two hot dogs. The total was over eight dollars and honestly, the hot dogs were not good. The chili was weak and the meat topping looked and tasted like it had been out way too long. The hot dogs were also low quality. The ambiance was decent enough. I can't see myself returning.

I had been trying to get my hands on some Sol's since before Easter. Unfortunately, they don't answer their phones. So annoying! The day I visited for lunch, it was packed. I placed my order at the counter and they call out your order when it's ready. This could cause some confusion. What if multiple people ordered the same thing?! I had no issue with my order but there's definitely a more effective way...... My 2 hotdogs (well done) all the way were fantastic!!. Fries were just okay. Skinny and borderline greasy. I still ate them all up! lol Next time I will dine in instead of eating in the car. Highly recommend. You are certain to take in the rich history they have created within the walls of Sol's hotdogs!

I'm not a huge burger person, but I will say that cheeseburger was very delicious. I just got the single cheeseburger and my son got a pimento bacon cheese cheeseburger with fries. The french fries were OK. There was quite a few people there during the lunch, rush. I will definitely be back again. I did like that they had tables outside as well. You order at the counter and then they bring you your food.

This restaurant is at the corner of Valleydale Road and Caldwell Mill Road, a few spots down from Publix. It is a really cute place. When you walk in, the grill is right there. I was greeted immediately, even though they were working hard. I was asked if I was the online order, and they had it ready for me, front and center. I ordered the build your own burger (with pimento cheese, bacon, lettuce, onion, mustard, and BBQ sauce with the seasoned tots. I got the Chicken Philly and side salad for my husband. Then I ordered two Caesar salads for Saturday's dinner. They look so good! I got home and fixed plates. My husband was not scheduled to come home today from his conference, but he is coming home tonight. I tasted his sandwich and it was flavorful. I think he will really enjoy it. My burger and tots were amazing! The burger fell apart while I was eating it because I had a lot of toppings on it. Each bite was delicious and I totally cleaned my plate. The tots were tasty also. I stand with the other Yelpers and recommend that you try this place.

Trying to find a booth that was clean to eat at was hard. Every time we come we have to navigate several wet floor signs in the dining area. The booth seats are also torn/ripped and I didn't want my toddler crawling all over it or eating pieces of it. I found a booth with good seats but I had to wipe the table. My husband came back with "the least dirty high chair" that I also had to wipe down. The burgers were smashed pretty good, definitely seems like the slice of cheese has shrunk to where you can't even see it peeping out from under the bun. The serving of fries and tots were minimal and disappointing. After the meal, my husband went up to get the custard that comes with the kids meal and a cookies and cream concrete-- why does that take almost 10minutes to make?

Another couple had been waiting 50 mins for their order. Finally requested a refund. A different person returned to the pickup station. Her sandwich order was wrong, her fry cup was half full. A third person also complained about their order being wrong. This is the third time I've gone to this store. It is dirty, many things are out of stock. Every time (over the past 3 years) my order was screwed up. Don't bother with this place. Poorly managed and staffed by kids.
