Day two of my Birmingham Restaurant Week food reviews and this one is on A-Train Station. Originally I came here to order the polish sausage but when I got to the window to order it I was told they were out and were trying to get more. So I ended up putting in a different order. When I went back to pick up my order the guy had just walked up with fresh sausages and I was heart broken. But I will be sure the next time I comeback to this food truck I will be getting that polish sausage for sure! So let's get into what I order. I went ahead and got the bacon cheese burger that came with peppers and onions with white american cheese and a side of seasoned fries. If you saw my review yesterday you see what I'm already about to talk about. Once again a burger with bacon bits instead of actual bacon strips. I don't know if this is a trend or a cutting cost thing but I just don't like it. However the burger itself was pretty good it was a thick patty that was well seasoned but there was a seasoning I couldn't quit figure out what it was but it had a weird lingering flavor I just did not like and for that this burger gets a 7.5/10. Really good burger but idk whatever that flavor was threw it off for me. The seasoned fries were good. Crispy and salty crinkle cut fries what more can you ask for? 9/10 These guys also had a Philly Cheese steak and Philly Cheese Fries that my buddy Rashad Caldwell and man when I tell you he inhaled it in less then 5 seconds which left me to believe it was very good and from what I saw it looked very good. My other buddy Stati Jones had their Philly Cheese Steak Quesadilla and here's what he had to say about it... "Loved it! A great concept. I love both Quesadillas and Philly Cheese Steaks. Combining them was a great idea! 8/10" Go check these guys out they are putting out great food and I can't wait to go back so I can finally get the elusive Polish Sausage lol!

A-Train was at our office this week and I can't wait until we have them back to be able to try more of their menu. Due to some personal food limitations this week, I chose the Chicken Bacon Ranch Quesadilla (minus the bacon, peppers & onions). Incredibly cheesy and packed with chicken. The fries were perfectly crisp outside and soft inside. Minimal wait for it to be ready. I didn't hear anyone unhappy with their selections. This is near the top of my favorites list for the trucks we have had stop by.

So so good! The ranch okra is to die for! Service was friendly! Wings and fries were good and flavorful. Will return!

Tucked away in Birmingham like a true hidden gem, A-Train Station brings the heat, the flavor, and the crispy goodness you didn't know you needed--until now. With great service and even greater wings. If you're chasing fantastic wings, look no further. These bad boys are perfectly crisp, packed with bold, juicy flavor, and leave you licking your fingers and contemplating a second round before you've even finished the first. But let's talk about the Cajun Ranch Cheese Fries--because whoa. They're not just good, they're next-level, "where have you been all my life?" good. Smothered, seasoned, cheesy, and unapologetically indulgent, they're the kind of side that steals the show (and your heart). The vibe? Low-key and unpretentious, but that's part of the charm. Good food. No fluff. A-Train Station doesn't need gimmicks--it lets the flavor do the talking. Wings that slap. Fries that live rent-free in your dreams. Worth the trip, every time If you're in Birmingham and craving soulful, satisfying, full-throttle flavor, hop on the A-Train. You won't regret it.

Everything thing was great .. I couldn't give 5 stars because my fries weren't hot. The rest was good , hot and perfectly seasoned. I also was pleased with the service as well.

The food was OK, but nothing great; I ordered the wings and fries. The food wasn't seasoned as much as it could have been.

The lady was rude, unorganized, and unprofessional she honestly ruined my mood with her rude tone and unnecessary attitude. On TOP of that I was missing something in my order so I went up to tell the lady and she said they were "probably" out of it if I didn't receive it. I paid FULL price for everything including the food I didn't receive and you're telling me that I can't get a refund? This place service was overall horrendous the only thing they have going for them is the food but what's the point of having good food if you can't draw customers into a friendly environment to buy the food you sell. I hate that I just walked away with no refund or anything to replace what I lost. Service is none existent and I would not recommend this place to ANYONE. My advice to them is work on their people skills.

Parking is primarily street parking in the area, but there is also a public parking deck nearby. I'm unsure what the current cost is for the deck, but it's worth knowing if you're visiting during a busier time. I ordered the fish tacos with black beans and chose the cheese grits as my second side. Everything tasted fresh and had lots of flavor. The real star of the meal, though, was the sweet potato cake. It was incredibly moist and delicious. Honestly, I could've eaten four of them without shame or hesitation. My colleagues ordered burgers and fries. They both really enjoyed their burgers, but neither cared much for the fries. They had also requested a couple additional items after the food arrived, but those items never made it to the table. The decor is bright and fun, though it didn't quite seem to match the style of food being served. Just my personal observation. They also have a robot that helps deliver the food alongside the servers, which felt a little unexpected for the casual atmosphere and southern comfort food vibe. They were fairly busy since it was lunchtime on a Friday, but the wait really wasn't bad at all. Would I go back? Yes. Was it my absolute favorite? No. But there were definitely things I enjoyed, especially that sweet potato cake that nearly made me consider ordering dessert first next time.

Here are my thoughts: Pros: Alfredo had a good taste. Plate was heavy, albeit mostly noodles. Philly was made with whole chunks of steak and not ground meat. Plenty of seating inside. Soothing music played on the speakers. Coho or sockeye salmon was used, so chef didn't skip the health benefits of wild-caught fish. Cons: Philly looked to be missing the toppings. One portion looked like it was missing meat. Paid $9 more to add 3 stems of broccoli and 1 piece of chopped grilled chicken. I asked for my salmon to be cooked well done, but it was not due to the cashier typing "well done" under the broccoli add on. Meal was kinda pricey and while I did not mind paying for what I want...the amount of additional food vs the cost didn't add up. $4 for 3 stems of broccoli isn't right. One day, if we are in the area, I may return to try something different on the menu. Don't take my word for it. Try this restaurant out and leave a review on what you think.

The macaroni looked very light in color, but don't let that fool you, it was flavorful, creamy, and very well prepared. Everything on the plate was seasoned nicely and satisfying. That said, there were a few things about the atmosphere that took away from the experience for me. The restaurant was extremely dark inside, and the music was much louder than necessary, making it difficult to fully relax and enjoy the meal. I was also caught off guard by customers smoking marijuana indoors. I'm pretty sure I left with a contact high while writing this review. I had been wanting some lamb chops for a few months, and I found Yo Chef online. The reviews for the lamb chops were mostly great, so I decided to give them a try. I didn't dine in, I placed an order for delivery. I ordered the lamb chops, with mashed sweet potatoes, and red beans and rice. I had never had fried pound cake, so I ordered 2 fried pound cakes, one for myself and one for my mom. We were both looking forward to everything. Unfortunately, we were both disappointed. The lamb chops were terrible. They were extremely tough. They tasted as if they had been sitting under a warming lamp or something. Even more disappointing was they were so skimpy. They definitely didn't taste as if they were freshly cooked. The mashed sweet potatoes were not mashed at all. They were simply candied yams. The red beans and rice were the best of my order. The fried pound cake tasted as if it was fried too long. I ended up throwing everything away after trying to eat one of the lamb chops. Ultimately, it was a wasted $78, $96 including the tip.
