On to the 3rd chicken wing place! When I was looking for a place to fix my buffalo chicken wings craving, since previous places have disappointed me, I had high hopes for A-Train Station. This is a food truck that also offers delivery. VERY VERY disappointed. First off, the menu does not describe it, but most of the wings options come with fries. Okay, cool, the fries were crinkle cut and crispy. When I opened the container to chow down, I was so let down I wanted to cry (not really cry like tears though...well, maybe the food heart in me did). The wings are TINY TINY TINY TINY. Itty itty itty bitty. Think the length and the width of a pinkie finger. I have small hands (I need to buy child-sized gloves for winter wear and kid's sized shoes) and as you can see from the picture, they are smaller than a normal sized fork. What was more, I paid extra for "extra saucy wings." There was barely any sauce coating one side let alone being extra saucy! What was more, they were soggy and the minimal meat that was on the bone was a poor and tough quality. Thus, 1/5 for size, 1/5 for crispiness 1/5 for meat quality, 1/5 for sauce. RUN AWAAAY! BOOO HISSSSS THE WINGS HERE!!! Not worth the money. And the hot sauce? NOT SPICY. I've tasted ketchup that is more spicy! read more

I've had food from the food truck, but this day I decided to try their brick and mortar business. This place is clear on the other side of town, but I don't mind driving for good food. It was an hour before closing so my friend and I decided to eat inside. The lady at the counter was pleasant as she took our orders. I ordered the egg roll combo, which was the special of the day. My friend ordered the Philly with fries. My egg rolls looked as if they had been reheated. They did throw in a soul food egg roll I guess for us to try. All of them were extra....crunchy, and I had to break the end parts off because they were dry and overcooked. I don't remember my friend having anything either way to say about his food. There was no option for the drink...they just handed us some green punch in a cup. The ice machine wasn't working and the lady had to go across the street for ice. The ice in our punch had already melted. There was both inside and outside seating. Overall, I think I will stick to the food truck when it's on my side of town. I wasn't really happy with my food but I know they offer better options. One thing to note....there was a kid in the place that was watching something on the tv (YouTube, maybe?) that, in my opinion was inappropriate due to the subject matter and profanity. The guy in the back was aware of this, shook his head, but did not tell the boy to turn it. This overall left a not so good impression. A small hidden gem! Was in Alabama for an event and wanted to try some wings. They had fried shrimp and they even tossed it in the hot honey sauce for me. The fried okra was fried so well and crispy even though it had sauce on it. read more

Day two of my Birmingham Restaurant Week food reviews and this one is on A-Train Station. Originally I came here to order the polish sausage but when I got to the window to order it I was told they were out and were trying to get more. So I ended up putting in a different order. When I went back to pick up my order the guy had just walked up with fresh sausages and I was heart broken. But I will be sure the next time I comeback to this food truck I will be getting that polish sausage for sure! So let's get into what I order. I went ahead and got the bacon cheese burger that came with peppers and onions with white american cheese and a side of seasoned fries. If you saw my review yesterday you see what I'm already about to talk about. Once again a burger with bacon bits instead of actual bacon strips. I don't know if this is a trend or a cutting cost thing but I just don't like it. However the burger itself was pretty good it was a thick patty that was well seasoned but there was a seasoning I couldn't quit figure out what it was but it had a weird lingering flavor I just did not like and for that this burger gets a 7.5/10. Really good burger but idk whatever that flavor was threw it off for me. The seasoned fries were good. Crispy and salty crinkle cut fries what more can you ask for? 9/10 These guys also had a Philly Cheese steak and Philly Cheese Fries that my buddy Rashad Caldwell and man when I tell you he inhaled it in less then 5 seconds which left me to believe it was very good and from what I saw it looked very good. My other buddy Stati Jones had their Philly Cheese Steak Quesadilla and here's what he had to say about it... "Loved it! A great concept. I love both Quesadillas and Philly Cheese Steaks. I went there today because I was in the mood for a cheeseburger. I wanted to combo with a side order of okra. When I got it, they gave me the burger with okra and no fries. When I got home and ate the burger, it was terrible. It was overcooked and salty. I had to chew on my socks to get the flavor out of my mouth. JK but it was horrible. A-Train was at our office this week and I can't wait until we have them back to be able to try more of their menu. Due to some personal food limitations this week, I chose the Chicken Bacon Ranch Quesadilla (minus the bacon, peppers & onions). Incredibly cheesy and packed with chicken. The fries were perfectly crisp outside and soft inside. Minimal wait for it to be ready. I didn't hear anyone unhappy with their selections. First let me say how friendly they were!!! We had fried pork chops and cheese fries. OUTSTANDING!!! The pork chops were fried to perfection and had a great flavor! The pork was juicy!!! Wished we would have ordered three!!! The meal came with fries. They were fried crispy with a great seasoning. They did have cheese on them which the combination of the fry and cheese with the great seasoning was perfection!!!! Because I did not realize that the fries and pork chops was plenty. I ordered another cheese fry. The order of cheese fries was a 3 compartment tray full of fries with plenty of cheese. That was a meal in itself. Next time I am trying the okra. I just tried this food truck for the first time and we werent disappointed!! We tried a Philly cheesesteak sandwich with fries and a Philly quesadilla with a few hot wings, and it was all amazing! This was my first time coming to the brick and mortar store. I usually go to the food truck. The actual store has a lot more on the menu than the food truck. The service was nice. It had a regular look on the inside. It's small inside so I probably would eat there. It's clean and the wait wasn't long. read more

I thoroughly enjoy the A Train food truck! I initially planned to order the burger, however, the pictures displayed on the menu of the philly cheesesteak quesadilla looked amazing and so I ordered that. I really appreciated the staff as they let me take my time looking over the menu and made casual conversation. One of the benefits of food trucks is the ability to take the food to go which is really nice from a COVID-19 safety point of view. As far as sustainability, the truck used styrofoam boxes and plasticware which could definitely be better. Overall, I would recommend this truck and will definitely be back! read more
