The first time I walked in a Harbor Freight Tools. The store was pretty well organized and offers a good variety of manual and electrical tools. I came to pick up a cordless drill that I saw advertised. After finding the tool, I waited in line. When I arrived at the register, the young lady asked for my phone number for my account, and I stated I did not have one. She asked for my number to put into the system and I politely said, "no thank you" and that I just wanted to make my purchase. She gave me a perplexed look, and pretty much insisted I needed to give it up for the purchase, and once again I said, "no thank you." She scanned the item and it came out to a higher price than the tag on the shelf, so I mentioned that the price was not right. Here's the kicker, with an attitude, she says well that's what happens when you are not a member and don't sign up. Now, I was not upset about not being eligible for the discount, but I was disappointed with the young lady's attitude and the way she rubbed it in, for not giving my phone number. The haughtiness of her voice and smirk on her face said it all. Even the people waiting in line had a look on their faces at the audacity of what was transpiring. I was not happy. I felt her attitude was in a bad taste and demonstrated disrespect and has no business in the work place. I should be able to make a purchase without giving personal information that I wish to keep private, without any grievance. No, I will not return to Harbor Freight Tools. read more

This place is on Broadway in Lemon Grove is ALWAYS out of whatever you need. If you think you found a tool to get you out of a bind... think again... then reality hits and you recognize every time you go here you wasted your time and money but added your project aggravation. Customer service is poor. Went to get a generator. Told me to come back tomorrow for a sale. Go the next day and apply for the credit to get the discount and they tell me they can't give me the deal because it's a newer model. After I applied for the credit and made me waste my time coming back. They tell me I have to drive to Poway to get the deal because they don't have it. Which was the same generator I was going to purchase the day before and now they tell me they can't sell it because it's a wrong sku. Why couldn't they tell me this yesterday. Waste of time! Talked to the manager and he got offended because I said get your damn reps trained right. He walked away and left the rep dealing with me. Obviously he cannot handle being confronted by a woman and cannot do his job as a manager. Those things hanging went right up the hole in the back where the sun don't shine. Bottom line, before you waste your time on big purchases make sure that the deals are correct and you will get the item that is advertised. Horrible place to shop! Not only is is false advertising, they didn't do their job in giving a price adjustment for their mistake. And they pretend they call another store to hold the product. I was in this store yesterday looking for a specific item. As soon as I walked in, there was an employee in the middle of shelving products. He immediately stopped what he was doing, greeted me and asked if he could help me. (Wow, that's great customer service.) Once I showed him a picture (on my phone) of what I wanted, he immediately found the isle containing the product. I was also shown less expensive options. (Wow, good product knowledge and salesmanship combined.) 424321 At checkout there was a long line of customers. Nevertheless, another employee quickly opened another register and reduced the wait time for us customers. He, too, was pleasant. (Wow, now that's teamwork!) I use to like this place... I really still do. But, today I called ahead to see if they had an item in the store that I needed. I was told by Elizabeth, "OH yes Sir we have 5 in stocks. So I drive over to pick them up...PNLY TO BE DISAPPOINTED, because they don't have any in the store. Another sad part to this story is I was told by Elizabeth that the El Cajon store should have them or I might want to check with HOME DEPOT. HOLD UP WAIT A MINUTE... After I drive all the way to pick up something you told me was in the store, now you are sending me to your competitor. Great employees, located centrally. I usually only buy on sales....... So stock can be low, or out, employees stretched thin, and longer lines + wait. BUT, again that's during sales + due to its location. ALOT of people going there. STILL, good store, good location, good products, good sales., good prices. This was my first visit to this location. I wondered around with my husband just checking out all the products and brands. It reminded me of a mini Home Depot with all the tools, nuts, bolts and small equipment. I can see why there were so many men shopping. They had all types of wrenches, batteries, flash lights and more. Customer service was average. Wow what a store. The staff was so chill and there are so many random things there. Things you didn't know you needed or things that could be used to do other stuff. Like this contraption that moves water a few feet to a bucket. That would have worked way better for cleaning my fish-tank. Or if you wanted to binge watch Nflix and drink soup for hours on end the possibilities are endless. I'm met with three different staff members as I wanted to build a technological medium sized animal cage that would not stress the animal. I got everything I needed, motion sensors, lights, blanket, alarm and a humane med size cage. The whole price tag was about what the cage alone cost online. From my research the have the best cage so it was a win win. There is heavy construction around the area so getting into the parking lot at the time of review is not easy. I have always been in love with the bigger home improvement stores. You know the ones but another place has been grabbing my affections as of late. I guess I now have a side chick. I am talking Harbor Freight for my home improvement needs. Harbor Freight has everything I need that the bigger chains have but at cheaper prices. But does cheaper prices mean a cheaper product you ask? Au contraire mon fraire. The brands are good store brand or brand name. Everything I have purchased so far is good quality from the batteries, to garden hoses to a leaf blower. The great thing about Harbor Freight. They don't spend a ton of money on advertising. So they can charge less for the same items. I saved at least $50 on my last visit. Money I can keep in my pocket for other things. So will I stop going to the other guys? Probably not. Harbor Freight doesn't have live plants or building materials. But as far as tools and household repair. Harbor Freight has you covered. Quality, price, convenience are reasons to come here. This is the best Harbor Freight. Also the newest locally. A very clean and well-lighted store, and inventory out the wazoo. I found a very nice 7 amp angle grinder ($7 off with coupon), some great leather work gloves for a buck ninety-nine, duct tape, a 7x12 blue tarp, and yes, a free four-in-one screwdriver with any purchase. Ya gotta love those Harbor Freight coupons ! OK, there's always a line, but it went pretty smoothly. Checkout was fine, and I even signed up for their E-mails. Parking is tight, be advised. My hubby is the dyi of the family and loves this place. I'd heard raves from him for so long that during a recent trip to "the Depot" we swung in here. They carry just about everything that the Depot doesn't have--including stuff for your car and it's labeled by good, better, and best. I'm not sure if it is telling you the quality, the cost, or what but I thought it funny to have things labeled that way. The music they were playing was so repetitive it made me in a hurry to leave. I was the only woman in there and felt a little out of place. We needed a paint sprayer and when we got home, it didn't work so I'm not too impressed. Well, have to admit, come here to get cheap tools and free stuff with coupons that are sent to me! Almost all the stuff is Chinese made but, depending on how often you use the tools, they can last a long time and they're way cheaper than quality name brand tools. I've bought cordless drills here, a generator, and various other tools and things that are really inexpensive compared to Home Depot or other stores similar. But you have to check the level of quality since certain things can only be used a handful of times, and then you end up having to get a better quality tool to finish the job. Many things here are adequate though to work on your house, or car... I Like the customer service here as well, they are real friendly and helpful when looking for items here. Yup 5 Stars!!!! The customers service here is meh... and the ting to find anything in this place is a challenge. They even keep product in the back and not on the shelf. You have to double and triple check to see if something is a vitally in stock by hunting down someone and asking. I have even been told by one employee that the item is not in stock and then ask someone else and they brought one out from the back. Crazy!! But the prices for tool that actually work and are amazing. I have saved so much money buying tools here and doing DIY project at my house that I have to give Harbor Fright a 5 star review. One of my favorite places to buy tools and other cool stuff. I usually drop buy here just to walk around. I end up buying something I find useful for around the house. Tools are not high end stuff but they are great for the price range. Almost every week they have a sale or some kind of free giveaway. I love this place, and could spend hours and hundreds in this store. Where else can you buy a tig welder, a industrial water pump, a bird feeder, and a remote control plane? This location is very clean, the a/c is nice because it's super hot in Lemon Grove and the employees are just okay. The parking is a little difficult if it's gets packed but there is a little more parking in the back of the building. The prices here are wonderful and that's because the quality isn't the greatest but for the price you really can't beat it. They have just about everything for a great price and they even have some ammo boxes which I couldn't believe and guess what? It was very affordable but not top of the line but I will continue to shop here when I'm on a budget. read more

I wanted to stop by Harbor & Freight to just- check out what they have. Have I ever been inside this location or others in the county- no. But, I've shopped at Home Depot & Dixieline plenty of time to know what's what. Very well lit inside & adequate parking spaces wrap the building. Nice clean bathroom, might I add. I was on the hunt initially for a head lamp- now that we've entered the fall back time change- I will be working outside in the dark til we hit spring forward next year (and believe me- I've already mentally started the countdown. I hate fall back time change. Grrr.) So, I'm literally walking around each aisle looking for these headlamps- but, still casually checking out what merchandise is on sale here. Once I find what I'm looking for (which wasn't too long of a search since this is a fairly sized store, in my opinion)- I noticed there's 2 options of the product. So, I picked the one that's $2.99. But, I look closely- and it's a simple brand that seemed generic to me. Then, I figure, well- if I'm buying a headlamp- I might as well buy some AA batteries. I look at the shelf below- and it's generic brand. Ok- I get it. No wonder why these are low priced. But, of course I buy these products anyways. No harm, no foul. read more
