We had a choice between two DJ's for our all inclusive package and Andrew was the first to respond to our call that very same day. So we decided to go with him and honestly, we were so glad we did. We had to postpone our October wedding till May (because you know... Covid) and Andrew was very understanding. We gave him the new date and he said he will be there no problem. This review is extremely overdue! My husband and I hired Andrew to DJ our wedding on 9/21/19 at the Red Horse Barn in Huntington Beach. Saying that working with Andrew was easy is an understatement! I admit that I was nervous about hiring a DJ for my wedding as I've been to so many weddings & events where the DJ makes themselves the center of attention and only wants to play the music they want to listen to. This was definitely not the case with Andrew. From start to finish-Andrew created an environment that had everybody partying! I sent Andrew our music for the ceremony and suggestions for the cocktail hour and reception. My husband and I are both fans of 90's hip hop (and 90's music in general) and I gave Andrew the instruction of playing just that. Andrew was so wonderful for our wedding at the Red Horse Barn! From the moment we met Andrew to the end of our wedding he was a perfect fit for our celebration! The weather was less then ideal for our big day but Andrew was able to get all set up with all of his equipment and made our day perfect! We had to rent tents last min and he was able to add lighting inside that made them much nicer looking then they would have otherwise looked! As far as the music is concerned, we have Andrew a lot of creative liberty, we only provided the big moment songs: first dance, father daughter/mother son, entrance songs. Boy did he deliver. With the rain and cold he had 175 people dancing all night. Literally! No one left early! He had everyone engaged and parting with us until the very last song! Thank you Andrew!! I got married at the red horse barn thru AAIE on September 29th the venue was an all exclusive event. So they had a couple options of vendors to choose from. We were extremely glad we choose Andrew Yates to be our DJ for our special night!! My husband and I FaceTimed with him prior to the wedding and gave our requests on songs for certain things. I was a little nervous approaching our wedding because we hadn't talked to DJ Yates on the phone or had an in-depth conversation with him about what we were looking for. We did fill out the questionnaire that he had sent us prior though, which was very detailed. On the day of the wedding, everything. went. GREAT. Walking down the aisle, the music was crystal clear and it was like a movie. He did ready to go and did AWESOME with each song for the recessional, for the bridal party entrance (we had chosen a different song PER couple that entered, and changed them repeatedly before the wedding started) and DJ Yates was a trouper and just went with it and got all the songs perfectly. Everyone loved the music, especially us. He got the exact vibe we were going for. My family doesn't dance, but he got everyone moving, even my dad who has never ever danced before! We even spent some time chatting with him after the wedding when he was packing up and a tear came down his cheek as he talked about all the weddings he's done. Andrew did an awesome job as the MC and DJ for my wedding, which was an outdoor ceremony and reception on an overcast rainy day in May! He was prepared and adjusted to the weather in style! Even though he could not set out all the lighting he wanted to use due to the weather, we did not notice anything lacking. Ive been to several weddings and at least 4 or 5 club/venues where Andrew has played. I have also used his services at my Halloween party for 2 years. He has all kinds of lighting options and effects to set whatever mood your lookin for and a variety of speakers and amplifiers for different sized venues (and it can get pretty loud). Very flexable and creative with the music he plays, no problems keeping any age crowd entertained. I would definately hire DJ Andrew Yates to play another event. I can get the same experience with him as if I was at a swanky nightclub in Vegas seeing one of the top DJ's at tip top prices. read more
