Sent a message through Yelp* and had a response within the hour for an appointment the next morning. Don showed up 15 minutes early and handled the situation with aplomb. While going through the wiring, he also took some time to educate me on the basics of wiring electrical outlets so I feel like I'm less likely to screw something up next time. A few other companies replied to my quote request and I do think that DJ3 was very reasonable in comparison. read more

I called 6/7 electrical companies that were 4.8 stars and up. 2 companies got back to me. One company came out and tho they said the service charge was $59, to assess what was happening, it was $350 which included replacement of either an outlet, a breaker, or I believe one other thing. I said what if I want nothing replaced, repaired, He said it would still be $350. Hmmmm. He also said I should replace all the outlets which I had planned on doing. He insisted that all the footage in the house be counted even tho I told him that 550' were newer and could they be deducted. No, the replacement would be $4850. I paid the $350. The other person Don with DJ3 and I spoke last night. He said he could replace 22 outlets in 2 hours and he would charge $580. That wasn't a difficult decision. But as the 2 hour mark came, he had replaced 7 of them, I told him I would pay him more because I could see this would take much more time than he thought. He insisted that we stay with his price. He was so careful and explained any deviation, like not putting a GFCI beyind the fridge as that's CA law, etc. He used a leveler for every frame, I've actually never seen an electrician do that. He was tremendous. I'd give him 8 stars. He was here almost 7.5 hours! Such a conscientious, honest person and his pricing can't be beat. read more

I used this company before for electrical work, installing a light in my garage. Don did an excellent job, so I kept his number. I had a light in my bathroom that needed to be repaired. It was actually falling out of the drywall. I called Don and he was able to set me up with an appointment. He came over on time. He replaced the box that attaches the light fixture to the wall and connected back all the wires. This guy is professional, honest, friendly and charges reasonable rates. I will be using him for any future electrical needs. read more

EXCELLENT WORK! I had Don replace several light fixtures, install several dimmers, and split out a fan in the laundry room. He came the same day that I called. Our power began to flicker and I knew that something was wrong. I looked into several other electricians but Don was willing to come out and give it a look right away. I definitely lucked out finding DJ3 electric. Don figured out the problem, gave me a quote and a timeline, and finished the job ahead of schedule. I am *really* fussy about hiring contractors. So many of them conduct their business sloppily and…read moreunprofessionally I can't believe they stay in business at all. So I do my research and am VERY selective in who I hire when our house needs work. My wife and I hired Andy Fernandes and Adval and they proved to be the real deal. Andy was *always* prompt - every time he or anyone from his company was scheduled to arrive they arrived early. Andy and his crew were communicative, clearly very knowledgeable, and straightforward, which is to say that they told me *and showed me* what was really happening and not what they wanted to promise or what they thought we wanted to hear. And they followed through exactly as they said they would. The quality of their work was outstanding. We had a few kitchen cabinets that had gotten damaged by the 2014 Napa quake and were looking like they were going to fall off the wall. Andy sent over a master carpenter (he spent years building stuff for moneyed people on Martha's Vineyard, who can be quite demanding) who didn't "upsell" us by telling us one of the cabinets needed to be rebuilt (the build cabinet in their own shop), he showed us in detail exactly what the problem was and convinced skeptical me that a new cabinet built from real plywood instead of the particle board of the cabinets the flipper who sold us the house had installed was the way to go. They reused the facing from the old cabinets, so the match was immaculate. Price-wise, yeah, they weren't the cheapest I could have found, but they were most definitely not close to the high end, they were right in the ballpark, and I figure if I demand quality I have to be wiling to pay for it. And we most decidedly got what we paid for. I repeat again that I am VERY picky about contractors, but I unhesitatingly give Adval Construction my highest recommendation. Our job was pretty small, but I would hire them for a big job in a heartbeat. This is the way construction contracting is supposed to work.

We hired Adval construction to repaint our kitchen, bathroom, and hallway linen cabinets. Our old…read morecabinets were dark and gloomy, and we wanted a refreshed look. While we are overall happy with the final product, there were some pros and cons along the way Pros: - Hiring Adval was a pretty seamless process. We requested a quote and within a week, Camila the consultant/designer came for an inspection of our area, measurement, and go over samples for a free quote - Since my husband and I didn't want to be around paint fumes, it took us a few months to schedule the project in tandem with a trip out of town. Adval respected that and didn't push; they simply had us let Debbie know when we were ready - While we were out of town, the painters Ana and Jeff were very respectful of our place. We had cameras setup for security, and they always cleaned up after themselves, turned off our lights, and ensured our doors were locked each day they were on site. They even helped bring in our trash bins after trash day! Cons: - Adval wasn't the most affordable in comparison to other quotes we received. However, we chose them anyway because their process and communication seemed the most thorough (in the beginning) - Since we had the work done while we were out of town, scheduling with the GC Pedro for repairs and touchups was a bit of a struggle as they were already busy with other projects - It was not made clear how EASILY new paint on the cabinets could get scratched and damaged. We had pre-existing rollout drawers in our bottom cabinets and they scratched the doors so quickly. In addition, some areas (drawer/cabinet edges and corners) have already chipped. We wish Camila elucidated this information to us when we were debating painting vs refacing and that Ana/Jeff/Pedro gave us care instructions for the new paint when they initially finished the project - There were a few doors that were clearly damaged prior to painting (corners were broken off/chipped but then the door was still painted over); Pedro ended up picking up these doors and they repaired them at their warhouse - It took about 2 months from the time we returned from our trip/initial paint completion to the final completion of the project (between scheduling, Pedro taking the damaged doors back to the warehouse to have repainted/repaired, and Ana/Jeff returning for reinstallation and final touch ups; the final reinstall was rescheduled on their end 3 times which was slightly annoying) - We changed our mind after initial completion from financing to paying the remaining balance in full. However, something must not have been communicated because the Synchrony account was activated and we didn't know until they charged us a late fee due to missing the first payment. We were able to get the late fee waived and ended up just paying off the balance through Synchrony. Again, annoying. Overall, even with the roller coaster of our simple project, the entire team at Adval was always respectful. They were quick to respond to my texts/calls and showed professionalism in their work. I appreciated that they were responsive and accountable. We are just disappointed in how fragile the final product is and we weren't properly informed.

We first called Attic Kings about 4 years ago after heavy rains led to rats getting into our attic…read more They caused a huge mess, and I was especially concerned about the urine, droppings, old insulation, and fiberglass getting into the rest of the house. Moshe came out right away, inspected everything, and gave us a very reasonable quote to seal all of the entry points, clean and sanitize the attic, deodorize the space, remove all of the old insulation, and eventually replace it with new insulation. One of the biggest concerns for me was cleanliness. We had just installed brand new carpet upstairs, and the attic entrance is right there. Moshe covered everything in plastic and actually created a contained tunnel from the attic all the way downstairs and out the door so the old insulation and debris never traveled through the house. That made me feel much more comfortable about having the work done. Moshe and his team were fast, clean, and efficient, but what I appreciated most was how thorough Moshe was. He took the time to explain everything, sent us detailed photos, and never made us feel rushed. Because we have two attic spaces that connect along the roofline, Moshe did not just seal everything and immediately put down new insulation. He left traps in place and came back for several weeks to make sure there were no rats still hiding somewhere or finding another way in. Only after we were all comfortable that the problem was completely resolved did he install the new insulation. I really appreciated that because the last thing I wanted was to spend money on new insulation and have it ruined again. 4 years later, we still have the trap up there and have not had another rat problem. Recently, we had a completely separate issue with yellow jackets that made an opening near the roofline and got inside the roof area. After pest control handled the yellow jackets, I called Moshe just to ask whether the opening needed some kind of special repair. He came out the very next morning, walked the perimeter of both rooflines, found a few small areas that had shifted or opened over the years, sealed the area where the yellow jackets got in, and even went back into the attic to make sure everything was still secure and there was no evidence of rats. There wasn't. What really impressed me is that this was years after the original work, and he still came out as a courtesy to check everything. That says a lot about the kind of person he is and how he runs his business. Another thing I really appreciate is that when you call Attic Kings, you actually get Moshe. You are not dealing with an automated system, a call center, or a different person every time. He is very hands-on, and the people he brings with him have always been professional, respectful and clean. We even scheduled the original work while we were away from the house, and I felt completely comfortable trusting Moshe and his team in our home. His pricing was competitive, the value was excellent, and most importantly, the work has held up for 4 years. It is getting harder to find small businesses where the owner still answers the phone, shows up personally, stands behind the work, and cares about maintaining a relationship with customers long after the job is finished. Moshe is honest, dependable, and has a lot of integrity, and that goes a long way with me. I would absolutely recommend Attic Kings.

A few days after we met and I signed the contract, the team came out to remove old roof debris left over from a recent reroofing, removed our home's original insulation, and installed fresh batt insulation in both the attic and crawlspace. They also added rodent proofing throughout the attic while they were at it. About a month later we heard critter noises, so I texted them and they came out to inspect. He didn't find anything in the traps but reset them to be safe. Sure enough, something took the bait because we heard it go off! Jose came back shortly after and discovered 2 mice (thankfully no rats), found a gap where the roof met the garage and sealed it up. He ran an ozone generator as a precaution for any smells. A couple weeks after that we heard faint sounds again. Jose returned, found one more entry point, sealed it, and since then there's been total silence! I really appreciated how thorough and persistent they were even after the job was technically done. Solid team, fair price, and they stand behind their work. Highly recommend Attic Kings!
