In late July 2023, we had a dangerous situation where several of the circuit breakers in our electric subpanel burned and melted. Our home warranty service didn't have anyone available, so authorized us to contact an outside provider. I reached out to Matthews Electric after seeing them suggested on a community Facebook page. Bill responded the same day! Even though he'd been working a long day on another job, he came to our home late the same afternoon. He reviewed the situation and advised us of the necessary repairs. He even waited with us while we were on hold for 20 minutes to speak to our home warranty rep, so he could explain to them the work to be done (as required by the home warranty service). Understanding the danger of the situation, and our anxiety over it, Bill returned and made the repairs on what would have been his day off! Bill completed the work beautifully, and without complaint - despite the miserable heat, leaving us feeling safe and able to use our A/C! Bill's wife, Gina, runs the office, and she was amazing as well. Gina was incredibly helpful working with our home warranty company (no easy feat!) to get them all the information they required to approve the out-of-network service. Bill even came back at no charge to diagnose a problem we were having with a hallway light, and was spot-on. We made the repair he suggested, and had no more trouble. I dont ever talk bad about a company. If anything, I try to give the same company business, but this guy, Bill Matthew, the owner, is by far the worst man i ever hired and would never recommend this company to anyone, he is good at talking to you to get your business and when it comes to doing the work, he does sloppy work and his worker he sends has no knowledge on what he is doing, not only did he fill my home stereo system with sheet rock dust. It wasn't even wired correctly. But when it comes to having Matthew come out and honor his work, the real him comes out, not only does he give you the run around that everything is OK even though you know it's not working, he will take over 6 month to finally come to your house and it still won't get done correctly, I also hired him to install a transfer switch which wasn't cheap, he didn't install it correctly and installed a box that wasn't even what I paid for and after I finally had to use it, it wasn't wired correctly and only half the lights work and when I called him about it he tried to give me the run around again but when I told him about the contract he send to me and we both agreed to, he was left with no choice but to come swap the boxes and I was home to make sure everything works correctly. Another incident was when he installed an outdoor outlet. When I had to use it, it did not work, I called him and again he gave me the everything is done correctly, but it took him like 7 month to come fix it and it wasn't until a few weeks ago I came home to my house smelling like burn electric and it had me worried and panicking but after further investigation I assume it was the interior outlet so I called him to ask him if it was related to the outlet he install and he said no and that he won't be coming out anymore to my house with out an appointment since hes been coming on his own expense, so I hired another electric company to come look and when he asked me if he can look at the outlet from the outside, I was shocked, it literally blown up and he told me I should call Matthew electric since he installed it and should honor his work, when I called Mr Matthew, he lost it, he said his work is only guaranteed for 1 year and he came out twice already on his own expense and while he was bashing on me, the electrician realize he wired it incorrectly not by code and when I told this to Mr Matthew, he called me a "cheap young man" and hung up the phone. I now wonder if all the work he's done in my house is even by code, or am I just waiting for something to catch on fire as well. Bill and his assistant Rob were right on time, friendly, professional and respectful of our home. We hired them to install two new chandeliers. One in the entry way and one in our formal dining room. They had to move our dining room table to install a new chandelier. They moved the table and all chairs with care and made sure to put everything back when they were finished. They left our home with perfectly hung chandeliers. They took the old chandeliers and boxes of the new ones out to our garage for us. Everything was cleaned up and put back when they left. If I could give 10+ stars I would! Matthews electric is my go to with all electrical concerns for many years now. Bill is incredibly knowledgeable, professional, prompt and most importantly kind. His work is impeccable. We moved into a new home and he installed multiple lights for us. He made sure everything was perfect. I've never seen someone be so precise, you can tell he is very passionate about his work. He made sure the lights were all even, measured it multiple times and made sure I was happy with them. They look fantastic! Bill also mounted and installed multiple TV's for us and add additional wiring that was needed. After looking through reviews and getting a suggestion from another person we knew in Fairfield we chose Matthews Electic to troubleshoot a problem we were having at our home there. The lights had been flickering almost all the time and you could not run more than one item without more light flickering and fluctuating power. It seemed we were not getting enough electricity and it might be something that could be a major problem or fire hazard. It was a very annoying and worrisome problem. I had spoken with another company locally earlier in the day. They wanted $175 fee for service call to come out and look at our situation whether or not they did anything. I said we would have to think about that. They came out anyway and left an estimate at the house. They said we needed to replace the panel as it was old and not functioning properly, and it would cost us $2850. Bill came out and when I called, he said you don't need a new fuse panel. Just contact PG&E and they will come out and replace the oxidized, damaged riser wires of THEIR lines at no cost because you are their customers. We did that, Bill's assessment was 100% correct and PG&E fixed the entire problem. So, we saved a large amount of money due to his expertise...not to mention easing our minds about the problem. Bill and the woman who answered the phone (turned out to be his wife) were both pleasant and helpful. He came out quickly, on time and responded quickly. Bill and his company have integrity, honesty and are efficient and timely. I will call Bill and Matthews Electric any time I have an electrical issue in the future. I would whole-heartedly recommend using this company to anyone who any electrical services. I contacted Mathew's Electric as he was referred by my long term handyman to be an honest and knowledgeable electrician that had very reasonable hourly rates. Turned out my handyman was absolutely on target with his assessment. I phoned Mathew's Electric around 11 am last Tuesday, briefly explained to Tina at their office that I had four burned wall sockets which appeared to be fire hazards at one of my rental homes. I found Tina to be over the phone very knowledgeable and understanding. She also immediately arranged an appointment for the field electrician to arrive at the rental home by 3 pm, and on the same day! Bill,the electrician arrived on time at 3 pm, wasted no time and got right to the problem immediately. He finished the entire job within one hour. My tenants were very happy that he worked so quickly. I am also pleased that Bill was so efficient that his invoiced cost to me was actually much less that the initial estimate. That was a big financial surprise that I never received from any other electrician working on my other rentals. Or even on my own personal residence. Would give zero if I could- called and spoke with them on Saturday to install an outlet on the floor underneath a sectional sofa. Guy said he has an opening on Monday between 8-noon, I took it. He then says he will call me on Sunday to confirm and solidify the time frame which he never called...Monday morning I call into their office and speak to a girl who tells me 9:30-10 ETA. At 9:30 I get a call from Bill who says he can't come until 1 or later now. I tell him the girl mentioned 9:30-10am he became aggressive with me and said "I was standing right next to her in the office and it's 8-noon" So now this dude just called me a liar...guess what? , I don't need u or ur company, ur a dime a dozen and with ur attitude ur business will fail.
