My mom had her car towed here by AAA. She had had other car work done here and trusted the mechanics. Jose took very good care of her. The AAA guy diagnosed the starter as the problem but it turned out to be the battery. Jose replaced the battery and had us on our way within 30 minutes. Customer service was on point. It's important to have a mechanic that is trustworthy and returns your car back to you in a timely manner. Jose is cool with us and we will be back. read more

I've been going to DJ's for several years, because in the past I found them to have reliable and trustworthy service. However, starting earlier this year, I found this abruptly changed. I brought my car in four times over a period of two months for the same exact problem: the check-engine light was on, with a variety of other weird symptoms like misfiring, rough idle, and a weird clicking sound when first starting up. I'd bought a code reader, and told mechanic Mauricio about the "thermostat control circuit" code I was getting; every time I got the car back, the engine light would come back on a couple days later, followed by increasingly escalating symptoms (low coolant, low oil pressure). Eventually they found that the engine block was cracked. (Presumably from overheating, although Mauricio assured me multiple times that the thermostat was fine.) They had to replace the entire engine. But what really struck me was just how lackadaisical and seemingly uninterested in servicing me Mauricio and owner Tom were throughout the process. They slow-rolled and eventually outright refused to work with the service contract I have on the car through my bank as part of my auto loan; at one point, Tom said he'd call them, then when I followed up three days later, he said he was waiting for me to give him their number. Days would go by without hearing back from them and with no progress made on my car, until I called asking for a status update. (It supposedly took Mauricio two days to get a code reader so he could reset the check-engine light. Two days...) What happened? Well, earlier this year, I came to the shop with my wife so she could get her car inspected: with the "Annoy a Liberal" sign and various religious tchotchkes on their front-office walls, I have a sneaking suspicion that they deliberately started giving me poor service after learning I was married to another woman. On the other hand, maybe I'm wrong about this... and this poor service is now par for the course for all customers. Either way, DJ's is absolutely not worth your time. read more

He offered to call me with pricing information to replace the sawy bar in my mustang. I had a good vibe from the moment I walked in. I'm usually a guy who likes to do his own repairs on a car and decently know my way around a vehicle. There are times though that work, time, or knowledge prevents me from doing this. I was very hesitant about reaching out to DJ's the first time since I didn't know of a mechanic I could trust (this was over a year ago). I did some research and decided I would give them a try. Ever since then, the shop has been amazing and stuff I used to do to save money I now just let them do since they are so reasonable and honest. I've had them do multiple oil changes (I supply my own preferred oil and filter) and the cost is definitely me worth not getting dirty and messing up my driveway. I've also had an o2 sensor changed that I tried to do myself, but stripped out the bolt (they corrected my mistake in about 30 minutes and didn't even criticize me for screwing up the bolt), had a rear wheel bearing replaced, and had my front brakes redone. They have even gone as far to look at my car when I hear something going on; and give free honest advice on whether or not it needs immediate attention or not. The mechanics are skilled, fast, and do quality work and the owner is friendly, honest, and adorable (on parts and labor). I actually cross referenced him to my best friend who is a mechanic in another state (Texas) and he said his shop in Texas would charge nearly double the price that DJs quoted! I recommend DJ's to all of my friends and go to him for all of my car needs and highly recommend you do too! read more

Last of the month type stuff, needed some minor repairs ASAP. These guys gave me a great price and really worked with me to make sure I ended the weekend in success. I was looking for a mechanic to check my car after running over a curb. After reading reviews, I decided to take my car over to DJ's for an evaluation. Later, I got a call from the owner Thomas that he noted some cosmetic damage, but no serious damage that warranted any repairs. I picked up my car later that day without getting billed for the service. It is rare to come across an honest mechanic. Fast service, and very friendly! I called DJ's when my car wouldn't start after filling up at a nearby gas station. Tom and his technicians figured out it was just air in the fuel system--I'd let the tank get too low before refueling. Since the fix was so simple and fast, Tom gave me a discount on labor. THESE PEOPLE ARE CROOKED!! DO NOT GO HERE!! Sent my son to get his car inspected...car was fine when he got there...They took it in the bay and minutes later came out and told him it was "smoking" and he needed a new head gasket for $800...I came home checked it and it was fine...took it to my mechanic the next day and he said it was fine. I am updating my review from 2012, which was my first visit to DJ's. Unfortunately, I can't give any more than 5 stars, so that will have to remain the same, but if I could I would rate Tom and his mechanics much higher. Yes, their prices seem a bit high to someone like me who makes less than 40,000 a year, but when I have a serious problem with my car I take it to Tom. I trust him and his mechanics completely when it comes to the most important thing about the transaction: my safety and the life of my car. If you are only concerned about getting a cheap price, go somewhere else where you can pay half the price and more than likely get half the skill and experience. I'll stick with someone that I know is going to be honest with me, is going to tell me everything in advance of doing the work, and will even drop me off at home if necessary. read more

Purchased a vehicle that had been inspected by this location. They did list a few things wrong on the inspection report but nothing major. I had the vehicle re-inspected a week later at a different shop and they pointed out that not only was there a section of compromised/rusted frame rail, but the control arms needed replaced. The floorpans were also rusted to the point where poking them with a pencil would have went through them. All of those things were marked as pass on the inspection report when they shouldn't have been. read more

After being quoted three times what I should have and lied to about what my car needed by a mechanic in DC, I took my car out to DJ's where it was promptly assessed, quoted, and fixed in a very short period of time. I never thought I'd find myself wishing to get more car work done, just so I could go to a certain mechanic, but that's how I feel about DJ's! I highly recommend this place as they are straightforward about what is needed and don't mess around with price and unnecessary parts. And Tom is an absolute delight! DJ's is an auto body repair place that try's to rip you off anyway they can. I will never take any car or tell anyone about DJ's. They charge too much for minor work that might be needed for your car. I got my car inspected there and got a quote of 600$ for repairs. Took my car down the street and got the same job for half the price. They had the nerve to get mad because I did not get my work done there and wanted to charge me 20$ more for a reinspection, when clearly the bottom of the form states if you return in 30 days the inspection is free. I will chalk the 70 something odd dollars you got from me up as a loss. read more
