First place we ate at in Key West based on reccomendation from a friend. We had the conch fritters and lobster roll. Food was good, relaxed laid back environment. Good for a quick bite to eat for lunch. Can take food on the go or there is an eating area in the back. Would come back.

One of my must-haves when traveling on the East Coast is a first-class lobster roll. And not the New England version with mayo. I want as much plain, unadulterated lobster as possible, stuffed into a beautifully grilled roll. Lucky for me, DJ's offers a Maine-style lobster roll: a grilled roll, warm lobster, and a small cup of melted butter. Food: The emphasis at DJ's is clearly on the food. The menu isn't large, but they offer all the classics. Most of us ordered the lobster roll, and we also had a shrimp po' boy, a cup of clam chowder, and a basket of conch fritters. Everything was delicious. The lobster roll featured generous pieces of tender lobster. The roll was perfectly grilled, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. There was plenty of melted butter to pour over the top, making it a bit messy, but absolutely worth it. This was a lobster roll to remember. The clam chowder was also excellent, creamy, well seasoned, and filled with good-sized pieces of clam. The conch fritters were the best we had during our time in Key West. I also sampled the shrimp po' boy, which was served on the same grilled roll. The shrimp were tender, with just the right amount of breading. Service: This is a small stand that has clearly mastered the art of serving excellent food in a compact space. There was a line when we arrived, and it took about 10 minutes to reach the counter. The person taking orders was friendly and helpful. Even while managing a steady flow of customers, they took the time to check in and chat briefly, which was appreciated. After ordering, we were given a number, and our food was delivered in less than 10 minutes. Atmosphere: The space is small but offers counter seating in the front, along with additional tables along the side and in the back. It's not fancy, but it's clean, efficient, and easy to navigate. We were pleasantly surprised to find covered seating in the back that accommodated our group of six. While we were eating, we experienced the only rain of our entire Key West trip. We got a little wet, but it didn't dampen the experience. The lobster roll was amazing and one of our favorite meals of the week. Definitely a place I would return to.

Well, if DJs is recommended by Guy Fieri when in Key West, of course I'm gonna go. So DJ's is located directly on Duvall Street, which is the most touristy and most highly trafficked part of Key West. There's usually a line and that's for a good reason. It moves quickly though so don't give up hope. I believe they're primarily known for their overstuffed fresh lobster roll and rightly so, but they do have plenty of other fish selections, including steamed clams, coconut shrimp, garlic, shrimp, roll, conch, fritters, and mahi-mahi fish tacos. They also serve a selection of beer and sodas to go along with your food that you can either take away or eat in on the back patio. I gotta say it was so good We went there twice. Both times we got the over stuffed lobster roll and I gotta say the brioche bun is fabulously buttery & crispy soft and it's big enough for two people to share, but you might still be kind of hungry afterwards. We also tried the coconut shrimp & the steamed clams which were good, but the real star was the lobster roll. Very tasty with a crisp cold beer by the way.

Easy to see why this is a local favorite. They were only open from 11-4 when we're there which made it an easy lunch pick. I had the conch fritters and a shrimp po' boy with some onion rings. The fritters were stuffed with meat and delicious. The po' boy was stuffed with shrimp, pickled red onion and a tangy slaw. My wife had mahi mahi tacos which were huge and delicious. When you visit Key West, you must get a lobster roll! I've been to multiple lobster roll spots in Key West, and DJ's is definitely high up there! Me and my friend ordered both the lobster roll as well as the fried clams. The portion of fried clams was huge, definitely worth the price! The lobster roll was very tasty as well, the perfect ratio of lobster meat and mayo. DJ's does get crowded, but they do have a good amount of seating. Highly recommend!

Had my first Lobster Roll here so can't compare to the average however if I visit Key West again I will definitely be stopping by again! I got the overloaded lobster roll which while pricey was quite good! The service was great with the guy at the counter asking about what sights we'd seen and even recommending other local spots to visit and food try. The restaurant is open air and absolutely "beach casual" so no need for fancy attire of anything like that. I would love to come back and try other offerings in the future! Definitely stop by if your a seafood fan or looking to try some new seafood dishes!

Best lobster roll we had in the keys. We asked for ours to be heated but they do cold lobster with a warm bun as well. The place bas plenty of seating around back so don't be fooled by the food truck style front area. Food was brought out quick as well, we were in an out in 30 min. Will definitely be back.

Loved loved loved DJ's Clam Shack! The first time I went, I had the shrimp basket with fries, so good & fresh that we made a second trip back. This time, I tried the coconut shrimp with fries, and I'm so glad I did. It was definitely my favorite of the two. The service was top-notch on both visits. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The person taking our order was super welcoming and talkative, and the servers even brought us water on a hot day without us asking. They also brought out condiments right to our table, which was a nice touch. Overall, such a great experience both times. Easily one of the standout spots from our Key West trip. I'd go back in a heartbeat!

Luv this place, it may be small but the taste is mighty. Started to rain so we wanted something quick to take home before we would get soaked had our meals in 5 minutes had shrimp port boy sandwich's that were fantastic great size and delicious sauce . My sister in law had shrimp boat and she said it was best fried shrimp she ever had!!!! Coleslaw was home made and sweet without being over sweet . Friendly staff and quick turnaround that packaged the takeout so it was still hot and crispy when we got home. Fun place definitely will go back

Great hole in the wall shack right on the main drag in Key West. We were lucky to grab a spot right up front facing the street to eat. We ordered the fish fingers & fries, garlic steamed clams and clam chowder. The chowder was awesome and 5 stars, great thickness with hearty bites of clam and potato. The bay leaves in there was a unique twist that I haven't seen before. Garlic steamed clams were good as were the fish fingers. A lot of people were ordering the lobster rolls but we were too full. Maybe next time.

Don't let the small and unassuming appearance steer you away. If you want some really good seafood, this is a must try. And it's priced very reasonably. I decided to taste the lobster roll as I wasn't in the mood for something fried. Wow! Really good. I prefer mine with hot butter versus cold with mayo ... and it was spot on! I had a week planned in my trip to Key West, but ended up coming to this place multiple times. They have the best lobster roll I have ever had. Additionally, the servers were very nice. I was asking them about their clam chowder and was curious of what it tasted like. Without asking, the server willingly gave me a sample and it ended up being awesome. This led me to make sure I came back here again just to have the clam chowder. Overall, if you are looking for a dang good lobster roll, or just some really good seafood in Key West, DJ's Clam Shack is the place to be. read more

The bomb.com!!! You have to check out this place for some lobster rolls! The guy working the window is so friendly, excellent service. We got the overstuffed lobster roll and our group (6 people) enjoyed it so much we went back the next day for more. We also tried the conch fritters which were delicious also. There are a few seats in the storefront and more around back. If lobster rolls is your thing- you must go to DJs clam shack. read more

If you enjoy fresh clams, this is the place. You walk up to the counter and the friendly server will place your order. We recommend the steamed clams [prepared in a delicious broth with a hint of jalapeños], the lobster roll [best toasted bread]. After researching places for lobster rolls in Key West, I landed on DJ's Clam Shack. They were featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. The lobster roll was delicious and had an abundance of lobster. My niece and sister got the shrimp roll which they said was just ok. Definitely agree with the sentiments of others, the lobster roll is great so try them out! read more

During our time in Key West, we craved a delicious lobster roll and some fish tacos. After reading reviews and hearing about it from Guy Fieri, we decided to go to DJ's Clam Shack. I was a bit skeptical about finding a "good" lobster roll in Key West, particularly since I'm used to the best ones from northern New Jersey and trips to New Hampshire and Maine. Both the fish tacos and lobster were unexpectedly tasty and, more importantly, incredibly fresh! They were so enjoyable that we went back the very next day. Every server and cashier was cheerful and welcoming. I've visited Key West a few times and have my go-to spots, but DJ's Clam Shack has made the cut for my next trip. Enjoy! read more

I usually do night like fried food, but the fish tacos, while fried, where very fresh tasting and light. The fries were great. The gentleman who took our order was very friendly and gave us suggestions of other places he thought we may like. There is more seating (and a restroom - bless) behind the order counter. read more

It's a small hut with a few seats in the front and back/side. Friendly staff that take you order at the window and someone drops off to you. The Maine Lobster Roll was delicious! The bread was perfectly toasted and the lobster had just enough seasoning to not take away from the delicious lobster meat. It came with a side if coleslaw which was good. read more

DJ's Clam Shack is the best option for fast casual seafood in this area, no question. The Maine lobster roll was excellent, with heaps of lobster chunks and just the right amount of seasoning to keep the lobster at the center of the discussion. The fried shrimp tacos were also fantastic. First, I think someone at DJ's confused "tacos" with "burritos" because each of the two tacos was its own meal, easily. Within each "taco," there were large pieces of lightly breaded butterfly shrimp, along with pickled onions and a delicious sauce to balance out the taste. The tacos came with a huge basket of fries that almost stole the whole show -- perfectly golden brown and crispy on the outside, with lots of fluffy potato waiting on the inside. So good. Came here after jet skiing all day on a Friday around 1:30 pm. This place came highly recommended specifically for the lobster roll and the conch fritters! They lived up to the hype! My boyfriend got the chicken tacos and they were huge! Loved that it was just a little walk up window shack on Duval st! Sitting there eating and people watching Duval street was def a highlight of the trip! I just love the keys and all the yummy food! I've heard raving reviews for DJ's Clam Shack's lobster roll. I had to come try it for myself. Arriving, we immediately regretted choosing to dine here. The place was tiny and a complete hotbox. The kitchen encircles the dine in area. I'm not sure about the back seating because we took the front seat to look out onto the street but it was miserably hot. Props to the workers. Who were very kind. The guy taking orders up front did a great job striking up conversation with every patron that came in. I wanted a little bit of everything! They have a great menu. My party of 3 tried the clam chowder soup, the lobster roll, the fried clam strips, the fried shrimp and the chicken tenders. What I didn't like - fries came with everything. We had too many fries amongst the 3 of us. Hate for it to go to waste like that. They should create sides of these dishes without fries. We loved everything. The lobster roll was probably not the best lobster roll I've ever had though. It was good. And the meat was deliciously fresh. But it was lacking a wow factor. I enjoyed the clam strips more actually. Surprisingly my boyfriend also loved their chicken tenders here. All in all, a good lunch. read more

Recommended by DDD, this was our first stop during our visit. As excited as I was to experience their famous clams, I was greatly let down. Flavor and freshness of the clams were spot on however they were quite sandy. In fact, every clam I ate had an overwhelming grit of sand. Very unpleasant. Great stop for dinner or a late night snack while walking on Duval Street. We really wanted to try conch fritters while on this trip and had heard DJ's Clam Shack makes great ones. Conch Fritters were super tasty and perfectly cooked with that crisp crunch on the outside. Fries were average. They don't have much seating here, but we were lucky enough to find a comfortable spot for two. Delicious way to end our night. read more

This is a cute spot. They got fans in the back to help keep you cool. I had the clam chowder and garlic bread and it was amazing. Like best clam chowder ever. I had the conch fritters. Never had conch, never will again. I had the fried shrimp and loved it. The lobster roll was okay. There was bees buzzing all around the soda machine so be careful If allergic. We got the mahi tacos (perfect seasoning), coconut shrimp (huge and delicious!), chicken tenders (our daughter loved them), w fries and onion rings. Is the lobster roll really, really good? Yes, it is. The lobster is absolutely fresh and delicious and the roll itself is terrific. Is it very, very expensive? Yes, but so is every other lobster roll everywhere else these days. The side of coleslaw was just ok. It's not enormous but it is jammed with tender, buttery lobster. read more

Right in the heart of Duval you will find DJ's clam shack. A rustic little restaurant with a real cool vibe. You will find one of the best cracked conch in town. The clam have been and still are really good. Just walk up to the window and place your order and take a seat. Then just wait for your fresh crispy sweet delicate conch to arrive. The staff is very nice and professional. I almost forgot to mention their awesome DJ clam shack, habanero pepper sauce. read more

Nicely prepared clams. Not rubbery or tons of batter or too salty which is usually the case. Thrilled to see that they have a place closer to me. It's Key West so super casual, outside. Food is freshly prepared not sitting on a tray somewhere waiting to be scooped up but brought to you fresh from the fryer. Excellent read more

Food was fine, service was ok. It's all outside eating which is fine but I do not prefer sweating while eating. Lobster roll was really good big pieces of lobster, but it's very expensive for what you get. read more

Established in 2009.

when two lower keys restaurateurs decided to combine years of experience to create easily accessible fresh seafood on Duval St. in Key West. The newly formed partnership was steeped in rich northeast seafood tradition, one partner hailing from Ipswich, Massachusetts the other from Blue Point, New York. Mix in over forty years of living, fishing and working the Florida keys, with its variety and incredible bounty of seafood, a recipe for success begins to emerge.

Are the "Ipswich clams" the whole big belly clams? Only thing I have found in Florida are the strips & they aren't worth the price. Sure miss the Ipswich clams...first place I head for when I go back home to New England.

They are Ipswich whole belly clams at about $28 for a very large serving. They also have regular, also delicious, clam strips which are around $11. I love DJ's and stop by several times a month!

Can I just say that I am in love with great conch salad, and unfortunately in the US we can't find great conch salad anywhere because of regulations, etc. Well, I happily go to the Bahamas to enjoy it, and once you've had it in the Bahamas, you're spoiled and won't accept anything less than the best. I have tried it several places in Florida, thinking maybe someone had cracked the code, but I always find myself disappointed. That is, until this past weekend! DJ's not only serves up incredible ipswich clams (I'm originally from New England, these are comparable to back home) and fried shrimp, but they knock it out of the park with their conch! The Conch salad had big chunks in it! Tasty, fresh peppers and tomatoes, citrus, and just that perfect Bahamians Conch salad taste. We went back twice in the two days we were there. The cracked conch was superior. No rubbery, tough conch here! It was super tender and delicious. The guys working there were very nice and helpful. I would give DJ's 4.5 stars, but since I can't, I'll give 5. This is a tiny little place on Duvall street. I went in not wanting to g to spend market price for the usual tiny lobster roll on a half-sized hot dog bun. I wound up spending $40 or so on the over stuffed lobster roll. It was worth every penny. The lobster was fresh, and piled HIGH on a split top toasted bun that was about the size of a hoagie roll. You could see the claw meat reaching out from the heap of lobster salad, in a vain grasp at a possible second life. Aside from two small bits of lobster shell, this was the perfect lobster roll. I chalk up the shell as proof of freshness. The lobster salad was creamy, but not overly so. The lobster was the star, not the mayo. And the roll was toasted to literal perfection. I don't say this as a literary thing. It. Was. Perfect. A squeeze of lemon on top and I was in heaven. It was so good! I will definitely be coming back for another on my next visit! read more

We stopped at DJ's Clam Shack while walking around Key West and it ended up being one of the best meals of our trip. The lobster roll was absolutely incredible and easily one of the best I have ever had. The lobster was fresh, buttery, and packed with flavor, and they definitely do not skimp on the portion size. The bread was perfectly toasted and held everything together without overpowering the lobster. Every bite was amazing. You can tell they really know what they are doing when it comes to seafood. We were already talking about coming back before we even finished eating. The atmosphere was fun and casual, the staff was friendly, and the whole place had that classic Key West vibe. We had the conch fritters with fries and a side of slaw. I'm a Florida native and have had 50+ years of conch eating. I may have had fritters as good but not better. Carrots and green pepper along with other cut up vegetables and very flavorful spicing. They were cooked perfectly and were a lot lighter and less dense than most I've had. The key lime sauce seems to be the thing here but it's very sweet, too much for me. Would rather have had regular cocktail sauce. The fries were hot, perfectly cooked and very good. While it's not standard slaw, it's not but half a step up. Uninspired slaw has been a peeve of mine forever. read more

So good, we had them for lunch one day while we were here on vacation, and stopped in again later after a night on Duvall :) The two guys working- Jesse and I can not remember the cook's name- sorry (started with a D maybe) were awesome. I know they are known for their clams which are very good, but their gem is the lobster rolls with sweet New England lobster which are the best I got a double for extra meat. you can sit and have a beer and watch the happenings on duval or you can sit in the back and have privacy. it was a good experience and if you visit key west please come here you wont regret read more

I recently visited DJ's Clam Shack, and while the atmosphere was nice, I found the food to be just okay. In my opinion, the dishes were too dry and lacked the flavor I was expecting. It didn't quite hit the mark for me, but others may still enjoy it. read more
