Previous Experience: We hired DL Design Construction last year to completely renovate the exterior of our home with James Hardie siding, including windows, light fixtures, and all new electrical with an all new panel. Dimitry and his team exceeded our expectations so much so that we rehired them to build us not one, but two storage sheds. But did they really build us the storage sheds we wanted? Why Rehire? We had one previous storage shed. You know the one that everyone has. The so called Tuff Shed, in reality wasn't so tuff. It was falling apart. It was seated on cinder blocks that weren't stable or sturdy. There were gaps in between the doors and we wanted something more secure and airtight from dust and critters. Especially the smell. You know what i'm talking about if you've had one. We also wanted something more purposeful, and something that would have longevity. So we shopped around looking at Tuff Sheds from Home Depot & Lowes, but quickly realized that they were similar to what we all ready had just with a bit more bandages. We knew within a very short period of time these sheds were going to fail miserably from their design and cheap building material. So we picked up the phone and called Dimitry at DL Design who we TRUST. The Build: After discussing our requests with Dimitry his team went to work. Heres a brief breakdown of the work they did: They tore down the old shed, poured two concrete pads including a walkway leading up to the shed (that we just love). They anchored the shed down to the strong concrete pad, which practically made it tornado proof. They built the frame with precision and excellent craftsmanship. Insulated it so i can store more temperature regulated items. They sheathed the frame with plywood on the exterior as well as the interior. Then wrapped it with a water barrier paper. They installed several windows to help control temperature and bring in natural lighting. They installed a sturdy door with lock and key, which helped secure it, as well as prevent dust and insects from entering in. Unlike the prefab ones that have gaps and fall apart due to water intrusion and warping from sunlight. They finished the inside & outside with the best siding material out on the market, the James Hardie fiber cement siding. They also painted it from inside and outside with high quality paint. And not to fail to mention they installed electrical with an interior ceiling light and 3 outlets. You thought I was done, but i'm not. They also installed 3 custom gutters to help direct water away from the structures. The Upside: With these two new "sheds" we can utilize this space for so many purposes such as a new office space or even a gym. We can store things in there that we could never store in any new prefab shed out there. Such as food as an extra pantry, clothing such a transferring winter wardrobe from summer wardrobe. Storing blankets, towels, bed sheets, and not worry about things smelling like it came out of a shed. We no longer need to worry about bugs or critters getting to our valuables or moving in underneath the crawlspace making a din, since the "shed" is sealed airtight from all around. I would rate DL Design Construction a 10 out of 10 as contractors. They went over every detail at the beginning, arrived when they said they would, and did a beautiful job. When the County inspector found existing problems with the frame and the plumbing (not DL's fault), DL promptly fixed the problems and even worked on Saturday so as not to slip the schedule. I have never seen such industrious and detail-oriented work in a contractor. Yuri, especially, was more of an artisan, with an eye to detail and a desire for perfection. We just wrapped up our siding and exterior paint paint project with DL Design and we are so pleased with the results. We can't help but echo all the positive aspects of working with Dmitriy and all of his crew. Although we had already contracted with a different window company back in January to replace all of the original builder grade aluminum frame windows in our 34 year old house, we needed to find a new company to replace all of our siding when extensive rot was discovered by our handyman and he could not locate a source for the cheap Masonite that was installed on our house when it was built. After seeing all the glowing reviews on Yelp for DL Design, we contacted Dmitriy and provided us not only with a very competitive quote but also gave us some great ideas to add to our project which included upgrading to current standard R value insulation on the siding walls and adding some can lighting to the ceiling of our exterior entryway for increased illumination, security, and esthetics. Once our beautiful Anlin windows were installed in early April, Dmitriy's crew went to work. In the demolition process, rot was discovered in several framing studs behind the brick facade but replacement and reinforcement was accomplished without any additional demolition and accompanied cost. Even the backup plan to access the studs through the interior wall was much appreciated. The installation of the new insulation, siding, trim, and lighting went like clockwork. The attention to all the construction details was thorough and outstanding. Everything was straight, level, plumb and time consuming. The extensive use of the top of the line exterior caulking was impressive. Speaking of impressive, as we neared the end of the project, Dmitriy provided us with another competitive quote to paint the entire exterior. From pressure washing to sealing every spider crack in the stucco, no detail was overlooked in the paint preparation. Even the two inch hole that a woodpecker created in the stucco above the vent just below the roof peak was filled in. A rotten fascia board was replaced without requiring replacement of any attached shingles. We had tired of our original buttercream color of the exterior so after much trial and error in selecting a new color scheme we finally decided on a classic dark navy for the siding, bright white on all the trim, and a medium beige for all stucco. DL uses Sherwin-Williams Superpaint and we were extremely pleased with the Satin sheen results. In conclusion, DL Design transformed the exterior of our house. We also wholeheartedly concur with all the positive comments that other clients have made about Dmitriy and his crew. My husband and I would like to express our deep gratitude to DL Design Construction. We purchased our house over five years ago in "as-is" condition, and while we love living here, we recently began noticing some structural and cosmetic issues. I recently had a total re-do of the exterior of my 25 year old home. This included new windows, sliders, Hardie siding, soffit, lighting, doors, trim... the works. This was not anything I was familiar with so it was important that when I met with contractors, I understood the whole process, my choices and options, and of course the cost. I went with DL Design Construction for several reasons: the owner himself came out to discuss the project with me, bringing abundant samples and leaving me with detailed figures for the work I wanted done, to which it was easy to add or subtract as the project evolved. Afterwards he routinely visited the site to make sure I was happy with the progress. I just finished having DL Design Construction add James Hardie fiber cement siding to my rental house in Stockton. I carefully considered all of the siding options out there and I made the absolute right decision to go with the combination of DL Design and James Hardie. The crew did an amazing job and Dmitriy was so great to work with, from explaining the long-term benefits of fiber cement siding, to keeping me informed about the permit process, to providing me with regular updates throughout the construction phase.
