I had an issue with the linkage bushings which also required a transmission cable swap. They originally tried an aftermarket part which would not stay in place and I was stuck in the middle of the road unable to move anywhere. I called Dobbs in no more than 10mins they arrived with a mechanic in Tow. He drove my car back to the facility, they ordered the factory part which fit more snug and held on better and everything has been great since. I have had service done here several times and though sometimes it seems costly the service and lifetime warranty make it worth it. They always do a really great job! read more

Went in for an alignment and was told a variety of prices A through B. I was charged above that without explanation. I was called being told I had a bump in my front right tire but they did not provide photos or evidence of that. Tire was driving perfectly fine after the alignment. They also said the struts were leaking heavily. There was no liquid of any kind leaking from the bottom of my vehicle before or after picking and dropping it off. Eric was the one who charged us and was assigned to my vehicle. He was not compliant or kind in anyway. Heavily doubt I will by coming up here and suggesting this location to anyone. read more

I've been going to Dobbs for very long times several several years, I've never had an issue. They've been wonderful in everything that they do. We recently took a car to be seen, and they were able to tell us something that was wrong with it, that we didn't know they were able to find out that there was a recall on the specific car that we didn't know about so we took it to the dealer and they fixed it We would not have been able to know about the recall unless Dobbs had been doing a phenomenal job on what they do I 100% referred Dobbs to anyone and everyone for whatever they need for their car. Let me tell you about this place. My daughter , over 300 miles away at school in Edwardsville calls me in a panic telling me her brakes are smoking. Being a parent with your kid calling you in a panic with major car trouble as most of you know is very unnerving. I did a search and saw Dobbs with high marks. My daughter dropped the car off and I called and spoke with Terry. I explained our predicament and I was at the mercy of a mechanic who could have done anything he wanted but to my wonderful surprise Terry treated me Amazing. Terry determined in a reasonable amount of time what the problem was and gave me a written estimate before the work was done. The estimate was very fair as I shared it with my local and long time mechanic here at home. Went to go get my tires filled while on my way to get food, and the worker has trouble getting my valve caps off, breaks one after grabbing a wrench and tries hiding that he broke it. I get out of the car to check them and see the broken one with the worker acting very surprised about it all of the sudden. He then calls out another employee to try and help, he breaks another while I'm watching. I then have to wait over an hour to get 3 valve stems replaced and still pay the full $30 for all 3 of them even though they damaged 2 of them, they were kind to me but breaking my stuff and still making me pay in full is not cool and I won't be returning to any Dobbs locations again. Warning about Edwardsville, IL Dobbs. I received a quote to fix my Uncle's jeep on 8/18/2021. They told me it needed $1,312.00 to do all the repairs needed brakes, rotors and brake line all the way around. This seemed odd to me since there was only 20,000 miles on the jeep. Not having this kind of money I decided to get a second estimate. I was able to get the jeep repaired for $285.00 and they said that there was absolutely nothing wrong with any of the brakes except the right rear tire. I am from North Carolina, and I was in town visiting my family. I had a nasty blow out after 13 hours on the road. Not a great way to end a long drive, or start a vacation. My brother in law recommend Dobbs since they just fixed his car and he was very happy with the way he was treated. I shopped around and found they had the best price on the tire I needed. The tire had to be retrieved from another location, but it was there and installed right on time as promised. The service was excellent. I just wish I was closer as my other vehicle needs a new set of four, and I would rather spend my money there where I felt like they cared and not just a tire sale. Great shop! I don't know how to say this, but I buy tires for my vehicles at another shop. I called Dobbs for a family member working his way through college. His truck really needed all of the tires replaced, but he needed to eat also. Terry and Eric helped my confused family give him the best of choices even though they didn't get to sell him 4 or 5 tires. This means because my of confused family they had to juggle tires around multiple times. They did everything without a glitch. He will be going back for 2 more as soon as he can. As a woman, I dread any sort of automotive work because of the reputation auto shops have of ripping off women. This place withholds that reputation. I had a scheduled oil change planned here, and when I went to pay I asked if the $15 coupon I had was still attached. The guy ringing me up rudely responded, "How much do you think an oil change should cost?" I never questioned the cost, and I didn't know how much the oil change was - I never questioned that. He then proceeded to give me a receipt with no cost break down and not giving me my key back. I'm disappointed by the misogynistic experience and just the rude behavior in general. Hire better people that treat customers respectfully. Would not recommend, and would strongly discourage for women especially. read more

I had made a quick decision to drive 450 miles home at 7:30 PM on a Thursday night when I discovered I had a screw in my tire, I called them at 7:35 PM and they worked me in even though they were closing at 8 PM. I arrived at 7:50 PM and they very expeditiously serviced my tire and had me back on the road at 8:15 PM. There was only one time where I got an inaccurate evaluation and had to take my car elsewhere for cheaper fix. HOWEVER, I love how conveniently close Dobbs is, how nice and generous they always are, both on the phone and in person, and how timely they are with appointments. They even got me in last minute one morning, with a full parking lot and garage, and still managed to diagnose and fix my car that same day. Quality work and very great customer service! Received a call that I needed to have front and back break pads and rotors fixed, plus my oil change and cost would be $820.... Told them, no thank you. Just do the oil change. I will have my dad check the breaks. My dad checks, only needing front breaks changed, no rotors. Total cost $36. Please do your research before every using Dobbs in Edwardsville. 5 Star are you kidding me. Dobb's knows how to screw people better than about another business I have ever done business with. I will be posting pictures on Facebook they installed new brakes on my 03 Ram truck year back. The only reason I took to them because I was working 72 hours a week. They changed out all 4 calipers and rotors without my approval. No reason at all to replace calipers there was only 32,000 miles on the last one. I never had a full peddle. I replace everything last week come to find out they busted the bleeder screw off on the drivers side, plugged the holes. The rear calipers where mounted on the opposite sides of the truck. I guess their tec's don't know what the R and the L stamped on the calipers mean. Mechanic's no Technicians yes, you are going to pay about the same here as the Dealership so take your car to the Dealer it will be done right the first time. read more

Their staff treats customers like they should know everything about cars their is to know and i wouldn't even blame it on them because that's how their management treats the staff. A friend of mine works their and says it's like being with a bunch of over aged high school students. Their staff has no respect or sense of team so no wonder why they can't get anything done right the first time. Every single person i know that has gone there to get work done has had to go back and have someone else re-fix the issue. I had a belt break and took it to Dobbs where they changed the belt, thermostat, and water pump in August. On my way home in December I had car issues and took it to a mechanic back home. Dobbs had used a cheap thermostat that had busted and was not regulating my engines temperature. They also after raking up a large bill tried to sell me more than I needed. Dobbs did not re-attach my PARKING BREAK after I went in for a diagnostic on my break system. I received an estimate from them for $3,500 and got my car fixed by someone else for $1,400. They wanted to replace multiple parts that did not need to be fixed and I noticed they wanted to charge me $1,800 for a part that I received for $400. Again DOBBS GAVE ME MY CAR BACK WITHOUT THE BREAKS PROPERLY PUT TOGETHER. I have a manual car and didn't find this out until I tried to use it and my car began to roll down the hill. I also had the key to unlock my tires left randomly in my center console so had to spend 30 minutes looking for it when I got my car home. When I called Dobbs a gentleman tried to cover his own ass and told me that they didn't even take the tires off which was an obvious lie. You have to take the tires off to check the break pads at the very least. Overall nice guys at the counter, but I can not trust them. read more

This has been the worse service I have ever had getting a vehicle worked on. I went in on 11-11 to get brake work down and a new tire on back passenger. I dropped my car off at 10am. I went to eat lunch for my bday and they called me three times twice asking me the same question of which tire was bad. Then They called to tell me my caliber locked up aand I had to get it replaced. I asked how much it was goin to be and he came back with ma'am u have to fix it or U cant drive. How much is it? Again never answered. Well I went up there to get it at 5 looked at the bill and asked why did ot go from 400 to 800. Ma'am just sign on the line. No I want to know why its so high. Again wouldnt answer me. Well I'm driving to work and guess What my brakes are squealing. And My car is pulling off the road. Really. I called them back on mon at 7am. The guy told me to bring it back up there asap and they will will get me in quick. Well I got there around 330 cause I was at work I had to sit there almost three hours for the guy to come out and say they put too big of rotors on my van that they had to shave them down. How do you put wrong size things on a vehicle thwn say you shave them down. Then he claoms my tirerod is bad that was why my car was pulling no my car wasnt doing that before I came in. He then says he isnt fixing it. Yep I blew up and said I paid 800 on my van to get fix and had to bring it back and your goin to tell me your not goin to fix it. I told him give me my van and keys I was leaving. I got up the next day and called corporate he called me back and told me to take my van back up there they have to fix it. Well the manager called and promised to get. To get me a rental so they could look deep into what the prob could be. Well I went back there to go get rental and that was a fail. Never got it cause someone that claims they do alot of work with enterprise he didnt know u have to pay a deposit. Lie. Then he told me his crew told him the reason my car was pulling cause of front end bad parts. But told me it was tirerod that had too much slack in it. So needless to say after three visit of trying to get it fixed brakea are squelling yet and my car pulls to both both sides. They moved tires around which calmed it down but never fixed the problem. Corporate called me back and said I will not recieve money back if I want it fixed then i have to keep taking it back and forth. No I dont think so. Three strikes your out. Im out of 800 and My van a mess. Oh did I mention ive been sick with strep and suppose to be home resting during this time but they want to play games with folks. read more

I bought a pair of tire & paid for an alignment. When I changed my brake pads later I found a ball joint, not just worn, but near the point of failure. Ball joints don't just go bad overnight, it takes a long time. Ball joint failures can kill people. Dobbs denied they did anything wrong. read more
