We sent one of our employee's with a company check and our tax exemption form to purchase 2 tires we needed for a customers car ASAP. When our employee arrived to pick up tires he was told no checks excepted. Well, ok I will go back and get COMPANY CREDIT CARD. He leaves comes back to get COMPNAY CREDIT CARD. Great people, had the opportunity to rip me off and didn't. Dillon the manager puts in the work and its apparent, and the woman at the front desk (I believe her name was Kayla) was very helpful. Took awhile for all my services to get done but its a busy place and I wasn't expecting that quick of a turnaround. A huge shout out to Dobbs for being the real mvp of my week last week. I had two meetings I left for only to see the PSI of my back right passenger tire was at 13. It was slowly continuing to leak air so I knew I had to get it somewhere quick. Dobbs is a hop skip and a jump away from me, so I got the car there successfully and was greeted instantly by a staff member inside. This was around 3pm, and I was told the car would be ready by 6pm at the latest. I took a call in there and saw they had WiFi, but decided to talk home. My car was ready at around 445. I had a nail in my tire which was causing the leak. I had purchased my tires there, so it was under warranty. It was fixed and ready to rock and roll. Truly was the most seamless experience ever. Took my car up there early Saturday morning @ 7:00 opening time, did not get back until Monday. Compression test on a cylinder which could been done on Saturday. This the one on Chippewa, so I recommend don't take your car on a Saturday, only light work like changing tires. read more

Dobbs is alright, as far as quality and service, but dear God, bring a book or three if you MUST wait for a tire rotation and oil change. I'm about to crack three hours wait time, after having been told i'd have to wait 1.25 max. I feel compelled to write a review after dealing with a service center at a dealership that was not the best experience. Dobbs on the other hand has always been great. I've come in for maintenance stuff and repairs alike quite a few times. They're always solid folks. They call when they say they'll call you, they have accurate estimates on how long it'll be, and while they're pretty dang quick at getting work done, it never feels like a rush job unlike Firestone forgot to re-bolt my e-brake on which led to it ripping off. Had a blowout with my RV Trailer. We decided to replace all four tires. I did some research and was advised by learned friend that I should replace with Goodyear Endurance tires. And, yes, great reviews. The problem was finding them. High demand. After many attempts I called Dobbs on Chippewa off of Hampton in south city St. Louis. They had them! I had to wait until mid afternoon to get the trailer dropped off. No problem they said. And it wasn't. They made room for me in the very cramped parking lot and made it easy for me to back in. Avoid Dobbs like the plague! Poor service, switching of purchased products, and lack of any customer service. I had purchased a set of 4 tires a couple years back for my daughters car. Over the 3 years I had to get her car aligned approximately 5 times at various places as it always seemed to pull one way or the other. I was initially upset with my daughter for possibly hitting curbs or potholes. What I came to find out is that Dobbs (I'm sure knowingly) put two different size tires on the car. Same brand but about a 1/2 inch in height size difference. I only came to find this out as a result of having a great mechanic notice the issue. I brought this to their attention and they said due to the wear (no doubt a result of having different sizes) the best they could do was give me a new set at cost. No mention of the fact that it cost me 5 alignments. Worst place to ever bring your cars! Don't do it!!! Bring it somewhere else!! Other places will match their costs and do much better! read more

We have been coming to Dobbs for years and have always found them trustworthy. They stand behind their work and have been very helpful. Recently, we bought a set of tires from them for our minivan. On the day were were going to leave for a 900 mile trip in the van, we noticed one of the tires was flat. My wife brought the van in and they diagnosed (tire pressure sensor causing a leak in the valve stem) and fixed the problem within an hour. We were able to get on the road on time and haven't had any other problems. I would highly recommend them for all the great service over the years. read more

Excellent customer service and communication from my tires replacement with Tim at Dobbs! We had two tires that blew out and also needed rims replaced because the tire damage was that bad. Tim was awesome with helping me track down some reasonably priced rims and tires. He was super understanding and easy to talk to, and almost made having 2 tires being blown out because of not having enough air not such a bad experience. The associate Scott (no last name)had a very loud over bearing condescending tone when I had basic questions about the care of my automobile. He blantly didn't care for my questioning in relation to how often I would need to replace my tires. I had no qualm with the service rather his tone, demeanor and backhanded responses. He should not be allowed to speak to customers I demand he be refermanded for his poor choice of tone and attitude it was uncalled for. We took the car for an inspection. They failed it over windshield wipers that were not very old. We waited for a call and never got on so husband called at 4pm. That's what they told him. Husband wanted to run and get some new ones, and he said that their technicians were all leaving. He said that he called at 2pm we didn't get a call or voice message. He charged my husband $50.00 To put a set of windshield wipers. He knew we needed that sticker quickly. They charged almost $100.00 for an inspection. He had our hands tied, because every one else was closed or closing. read more

This store use to be good many years ago. Now the last two times I have taken one of my car there for a problem other than tires. They try and tell me I need new tires. The first time I took it to another tire shop for a second option and they were surprise to hear that Dobbs thought I needed new tires (my toes lasted and other 2 years) this last time I had bought the tires at Dobbs just about a year and a half ago and they said I need new tires because my car is 4 wheel drive. My car is not 4 wheel drive and the tread is still good on them. He agreed the tread was good but said my tires had 45000 mile tires and they almost had 30000 miles on them so we it was time to replace. That tires never get the amount of miles they should. After talking to many of my friends and neighbors they agreed that this Dobbs location had gone downhill and is always trying to take advantage of their customers. read more

These guys completed brake service on my car and the shop manager flat out lied about me needing tires, stating "you barely have tread on three of the tires". The tires are barely 13 months old. I know because I bought them 13 months ago from Firestone in Chicago and have only put about 5,000 miles on them due to the pandemic. I had my brother in law call and they conveniently changed their tune. If it wasn't an emergency and I didn't have to travel the next day I NEVER would have left my car with them. I neede a water pump replaced. Apparently, in a Ford Flex, the engine needs to be taken out in order to do that. After I picked up my car, the person at counter said that the mechanic who did this, put the engine back in faster than he'd seen anyone do it before. I guess that should have been my warning. The next day, I heard noises that I had not heard before. Stupid me did not take it back immediately. Noise went away for the next two days and then came back. Went away again and came back. I was thinking that that's what would happen when I take it back...no one would hear what I heard on that day. I'll never know but what I do know is that, 30 days after repair when we went to trade in the Ford Flex for a new car, the dealer said that out trade-in had serious problems. He said it was something related to water pump and possibly a bearing. WHAAAAAAT????? I just paid almost $3,000 and my thought is that the mechanic who worked on it put the engine back WAAAAAY toooooo fast and didn't pay attention to what he should have done. Oh, and they also added things to my bill that were neveer discussed with me. The two things they did had just been done to my car at another car shop. Dobbs repeated this and charged me without consulting me. Nonetheless, I WOULD NEVER USE DOBBS nor recommend them. Stay clear. read more

It takes many years and a team of fine mechanics to build customer's trust, but only one experience with overreach tendencies to ruin it for them. My entire family has been coming to Dobbs for the last 20+years. We bought multiple sets of tires there. Generally, we have been satisfied with customer service and quality of work. A couple of weeks ago I took my van to the shop with a request to repair a tire that was bought at that location. The manager refused to repair the tire and refused to sell me only one tire. In his judgment, all four were worn out and must be replaced. When I picked the van they handed me over a quote for $1800 repairs so my van can be safer. I did not ask for a safety inspection which BTW passed in June 2021. Result: The tire store next door took care of it. No more Dobbs! read more

I have been taking cars to dobbs for years. In the past year or so the service has declined severely. I took my car here for an issue with it starting and they misdiagnosed the problem and charged me 124 dollars for a diagnosis that was wrong. It's sad that this chain is going down hill they used to be the place to go but now they are just basically the McDonalds of car service- they get the job done but always fall short. It really depends on who answers the phone. Chris is absolutely fantastic and a straight shooter. Tom gave us an estimate that was nearly $1,000 higher than it should have been. As a blurb, we had just had tires replaced by this location. We came in because we had exhaust pipe issues, and he estimated our repairs at $1300, to follow with a line about buying new tires. We're new to the area so we thought we had finally found a garage that could be trusted. Apparently not. Chris should be the service manager, not Tom. We decided to get a second opinion and paid a grand less than estimated at another auto shop. If you call Dobbs, ask for Chris. Anyone else is looking for a payout. read more

Ok, Dobbs tire center sucks. I bought tires from them earlier this year. First problem, had a tire slowly leaking down in about a week and a half. Stopped by to see if they could look at it on my way home from work. Bunch of guys standing around not working on anything, they told me I need to leave the car there. I couldn't, so I went home and then I noticed the valve core bent. They installed a bent core. So I just changed the core myself and aired the tire, kept an eye on it. I finally looked at it at home and I think I found the problem. They installed the tire and left dirt on the bead. Terrible workmanship! I cleaned the entire bead and so far no tiny leaks like I seen before cleaning. Another problem I had with them, I rotated my tires, the car started to pull left. Had ford check alignment, it was good. They suspected a bad tire. Took it back to Dobbs, they told me it was a radial pull. Radial pull? That means a tire is bigger or smaller in diameter. They told me the tire manufacturer wouldn't warranty it. I think that would be a defective tire. They rotate the tires back and did a balance check. See the other picture, these rims are stick on weights. They did a balance and look at the placement. If you do a balance and the machine tells you to put a weight 180 out from the one on there, you need to remove all weights and check again. Again poor workmanship. I will never go there again and unfortunately I got road hazzard with them. I won't have them touch my vehicles again! Again, stay away from Dobbs! read more

This was arguably the best service I've ever had. The gentleman at the counter, who's name I did not catch but he wore glasses, was extremely kind and came to me in the waiting room and informed me that my two front tires were both running pretty bare when I was only there for one. He explained to me the breakdown of pricing, and made sure I was completely okay with both tires being fixed before doing anything. The techs had my car done in under an hour and my car was running smooth since. I cannot appreciate the kindness of all the employees there more, because I was initially having a horrible day and they improved my mood ten fold. I will definitely be returning for my other two tires later in October. I don't know who does the hiring there, but whoever it is did a fantastic job with their employees. read more

A bolt on my rear license plate was stuck. I took it to Dobbs and asked if someone could remove it, I was willing to pay the 15 minutes it would take to remove but Dobbs said don't worry we do that at no charge. Okay the try to take to out by hammering the screw driver into the bolt which doesn't work which proceeds to mess up the bolt even more. The solution is to drill the bolt which is a slow process and would take a minimum of an hour to almost 2 hours @ $160 per hour. I said okay I will make appointment and come back. In the meantime my brother stoped by and used a vice grip and in 5 minutes removed the bolt. I am so glad I didn't let Dobbs do the job. Much of crooks. read more

The first time I went to Dobbs I was spoken to rudely and unprofessionally. Unfortunately, I figured this would be the case at just about any auto shop, because I'm a small 22 year old woman. The work they did was fine and well priced, so I went back a couple of months later looking for an oil change. The man looked me dead in the eye and told me my car *only* takes synthetic oil ($40 more expensive). Luckily I left and looked this up in my car manual. It was a complete lie.
