I have never been left more conflicted when it comes to teriyaki food. This was my first time ordering from Dobi's. When the food arrived I was pleasantly surprised by the generous portions. It may be speedy but you definitely get your moneys worth. Now as to the reasoning behind my three star review and why two stars were left off. The food was very much lacking in ANY teriyaki flavor. Their sauce is way too thin and they definitely don't give enough, I even ordered double sauce and still could have used easily three times more. The meat was wonderfully cooked and had a great BBQ/grill flavor. But I didn't order BBQ chicken or beef, I ordered teriyaki, which was so lacking that I don't think I will ever try this place again. When I crave teriyaki, and I order teriyaki, I expect teriyaki!! Still on the hunt for a great teriyaki in Missoula!!! Where can it be found?! read more

I went to Missoula for work a couple of months ago and decided to take a colleague out to dinner. I read the reviews at this location so I was really excited to give it a try. When we arrived the place was dark, dated, and empty. I think this is one of those places where you take your food to go. When we got to the counter there were four young guys that were in the back and manning the grill. Two of them were just hanging out and chatting while the other two were actually working. They said they were backed up and we needed to wait to order so we took a seat. About 5 minutes later they were able to put together the last orders they were working on and pulled us up to the counter. We both ordered the small Combo, which came with half Teriyaki Chicken and half Sweet Onion Steak over rice. First let's start with the good. The small combo was well priced, comes with a lot of food, and cooked fresh on the grill. As for the taste, it was smokey and not in a good way and bitter. We were hoping the sauce would balance out the flavors but ended up being way too salty. Overall, not the best experience. Maybe this was an off day. read more

We found this spot for a last-minute meal before catching a flight. First off I really enjoyed the food. Simple menu that they do well, and I like that they had an option to add veggies. The snow peas really kicked it up a notch, and the sauce was great. I got the small, which was a generous portion. Unfortunately I'd have a hard time ever going back here because they're still serving everything in wasteful and polluting styrofoam containers. What is this, a 1985 McDonalds? There are plenty of more environmentally friendly options now days. Also, even though we were there on a slower Monday night, our food took forever to come out. The guy at the counter said 10-15 mins, and it ended up being about twice that. They were friendly though. Really good Seattle-style Teriyaki in DT Missoula. Cool $2 beer specials with dinner. Nice guys behind the grill. Cool bar to the side. Open pretty late. A couple parks nearby to eat at riverside. Came in late from Seattle/Idaho and found this place randomly. If you're feeling like some yaki in Missoula, or are from Seattle and need something of similar style this is probably your best bet in town. Very convenient location too. This is hands down the best joint in Missoula. I don't care what anyone says. Ordered a small steak and chicken combo for $8. This is easily a steal of a deal. The steak is flavorful and the chicken thighs cooked to perfection. Their house-made spicy teriyaki sauce absolutely slaps. All of these meats atop a bed of perfectly steamed rice. If you haven't been here, please go. If I lived in Missoula, I'd be here twice a week. Sometimes doing some simple extremely well, beats out any boujie restaurant with fancy playing. Love this place! First of all, the teriyaki is authentic and tasty. Secondly, there is no skimping on the meat! The large size plate is huge and can feed two people. (They have different types of sauce too.) Thirdly, the service is quick and friendly. Where else can you go to get great meal, walk 10 feet and sit down at the bar and get a dollar off just for ordering at Dobi's? This is a Missoula well kept secret. Absolutely my favorite place to eat in Missoula solely because this is the BEST teriyaki you can get in Missoula. Always fresh, always sticky rice, and always thick teriyaki sauce. Adding the onions, peas and peppers for $1 is the best way to go on your sweet onion steak or grilled chicken. I moved from WA state in 2009 and I've been missing the righteous flavor until Dobi's showed up in a truck. Their combinations of Hawaii (my favorite place on Earth) and Seattle influences are perfect and remind me of home state every time. I usually love coming to Dobi's, but recently the customer service has been lacking. They have forgotten an item the past two times I've been in, so I decided to take a break from eating there. I haven't eaten there in a few months and decided to give them a try for dinner last night. I dialed their number to place an order over the phone. A guy there answered and asked if I could be put on hold, I said yes, naturally. I thought it would take a few minutes, but I was put on a 30 minute hold! 30 minutes!! To order food! It was ridiculous. I hung up after 30 minutes because I couldn't figure out for the life of me why they'd put me on hold for 30 minutes. I tried calling back a few different times after that. No answer. I was very disappointed. I ended up going somewhere else for dinner. Not sure if I'll be trying Dobi's again anytime soon. read more

Great food! A little awkward with the set up for COVID but that is to be expected. The Brotastic Hawaiian/Surfer/UW Earl's Ave feel is perfectly blended with Missoula's legendary Stockmans environment. Absolute A+ as a cultural move. As great as the cheap hamburgers and stiff drinks at the Missoula Club and Oxford etc are, Teriyaki is way better and healthier as well all know deep down. I am new to Missoula Montana. I was previously living in New York and Oregon. I happened upon this place and loved it. I'm coming from New York which has every type of food you can think of... Let's just say Missoula has Italian food, American food, cafe's, pizza, brewing company's and breakfast spots. So when I found this place I couldn't be happier. The beef was good and I was happy to find a place that serves rice. (everything in Missoula is served with potatoes.) If you would like something different look no further. Absolutely delicious. I ordered take-out for my family and it was ready in 15 minutes. Food came exactly as ordered and was fantastic. We all tried the chicken/beef combo, but next time I'm just getting the beef with vegetables. The small is about half the size of the large and is completely sufficient for a person who eats small portions or isn't very hungry (me normally). The large is great for someone who wants a lot of food (me while pregnant) or a little bit of leftovers. We'll definitely be back for takeout again soon and to try in-person post-pandemic. read more
