It was restaurant week and my friend (from Floral Park) and I decided to go hyper-local to Jamesons. It was a great choice. It is a simple ride over from MIneola and their is a large parking lot in the back. We walked in past their lovely outdoor seating which I will try on a warmer Summer evening into the wonderful restaurant adjacent to the large bar and took our seat. Our lovely waitress brought us our menus and drinks and gave us a few minutes to decide. It was pretty easy for both of us. We had: - A cool crisp salad was served first and this was crsipy-tasty-delicious - Joel - Short Ribs served over mashed potatoes. DELICIOUS meaty short ribs with a fabulous rich-tasty sauce on top of very tasty mashed potatoes - Tony - Short Ribs served over mac & cheese. Fantastic short ribs over very tasty and cheesy macaroni shells. Everything about this shop was first class and I am looking forward to a return visit with my wife. We came to Jameson's in Floral Park hoping for a nice evening out, and while the food was actually quite good, the service was anything but. From the moment we sat down, our server Jason made us feel unwelcome. He gave us attitude right away, acting like we sat at the wrong table (we didn't), and kept walking by with a constant look of disapproval, shaking his head at us for reasons we still don't understand. We tried to be kind and polite despite his rudeness. When we handed him the bill -- with a tip -- my husband even said "Thank you," only to be met with a dismissive "Yup yup." Not exactly the level of professionalism or courtesy you'd expect when dining out. We won't be back, and I hope the management takes a closer look at how their staff treats paying customers. Love love love the new ownership and menu! My husband and I went to celebrate my son's birthday. The owner, Roy, went above and beyond to make the dinner special. He made it a point to talk to us and all of the tables surrounding us. The waitress, Sarah, was so nice and attentive! The food was outstanding. For an afternoon lunch NOT enough light for Seniors and out of four tables theee were Seniors Sticker shock on teas.... only had Lipton BUT they are next to a grocery store and could buy a box of Twinings of 20 bags for $4. This restaurant has gone so far down over the years. It doesn't seem as if they make much on their own. It tastes as if most comes in prepackaged and they just heat it up. First up the pretzels and cheese dip - definitely frozen heated up pretzels with an out of a can cheese sauce. I could do that at home. And it wouldn't cost me a fraction of what it did there. The onion soup was so salty I had to send it back. The bread on my daughter's sandwich was dry and probably stale. There were 4 of us and no one was happy with the meal they received. The prices have gone up. I understand that because Covid has put a wrench in everything but at the same time the quality has gone down. I must say our server was very nice. When management checks the books at night, the double charge is there on the screen, staring at you. Did anyone ever contact me about the "mistake" in their favor? No. Did they automatically run a credit on the card? No. After checking my credit card statement, I saw the double charge. I had to go in there and wait 10 minutes until whoever the alleged manager is for him to tell me, "Yes, we double-charged you." Did he give me a paper copy of the credit? No. I had to ask for one and wait another 5 minutes. Great managent? No. Great customer experience. No. Great anything? No. No. No. Will I ever be back to this place again? Take a guess. The interior is clean and bright, and the service from bartenders to floor servers is working cohesively to provide a great customer experience. The tv's have been upgraded at the bar so definitely a great place to watch sports games. Management is very hands on and asking customers for live feedback about food and service as you dine. We've really appreciated the scaled down menu that focuses on meals they can cook freshly, and well. We loved the bar menu recently for a late afternoon share. Try the shrimp tacos, the soft pretzels and the Buffalo wings. For entrees, the chicken burrata and prosciutto is amazing. read more

The fried pickles need some work. The breading fell off as soon as I grabbed them. We then had the fried pork with red cabbage. My red cabbage was cold. The potato pancakes were so oily. The pork was good. I tried the chicken with bow tie pasta it was okay. The sauce needs some work. We had the brownie dessert. That was amazing. Generally the place is good. I've been going there for years. However, my affection for the place has been severely tainted by an extremely bad bartender. First I order Brooklyn Seasonal, I get some kind of light beer. I ask the waitress to make sure she told the bartender the correct order, she said yes, then went and asked the bartender about it and he said "Oh the Brooklyn Seasonal is out". So instead of informing me of this he just took it upon himself to give me something else? The next beer I ordered a Peroni. I can see the bar from where I'm sitting so I watch the bartender. I saw the waitress give him the order, then I watch as he talks to some people at the bar for ten minutes. The waitress comes back and asks for the order, then I watch as he gets a Peroni glass and pours Miller Lite into it, then puts a head on it with Peroni. I told the waitress when she brought me the glass that I know its Miller Lite. She went back and asked the bartender about it and he said the Peroni was out too. Is this just incompetence or is there some kind of scam happening here? read more

I had one of the best draft Guinness experiences this side of the Atlantic. They do an amazing pull. It was so good I had to have a second ! This place is absolutely lovely. My daughters surprised me with a birthday party for my first time there. My family of 22 (Irish) were accommodated wonderfully and the food was amazing. Fish and chips can be tricky to do just right and this place does it to perfection. As warm and welcoming as a true Irish establishment. Will be going back for sure ! read more

Had my wife's birthday dinner here recently. It was a quiet evening, but we were greeted immediately upon arrival and sat at a nice cozy table. It is nice to go into a place and feel welcomed in. They were out of an item I wanted to order, however, I switched to Fish & Chips and they were delicious. The fish was tender fresh and not greasy. The fries were near perfection. We go back quite a ways with Jameson's. Its classic Irish American pub atmosphere has not changed in 15 years, and that's a very good thing. The bar is nice, comfortable and traditional. Long enough to hold a lot of patrons, high tops for the overflow, plus it leads into a small dining area where you're kinda still in the bar. On the other side of the wall is a full size dining room with checkered cloths on the tables. The menu has of course undergone many permutations over the years and I believe the current menu as of this writing is relatively new along with a new chef. The offerings are eclectic. It's a bravely extensive menu, but not really much in the way of Irish styled dishes. Gone, too, is a basic burger. They're all designer versions. Overall the food is good and in some cases excellent. The warm whiskey bread pudding was cracking good. With the exception of the burgers, portions are surprisingly small. And the prices are pretty high, including beers. 'Twas not ever thus, but it is now. Jameson's is an old friend that I'll always enjoy spending time with now and then, though we have grown apart in some ways. Maybe its just a phase. I'll check back again. read more

Love this place a lot and the new menu looks great but when I got here I was so upset to see that they got rid of there best appetizer (bang bang shrimp in a wonton bowl) please put it back on the menu!! Jamesons is a cozy bar in Floral Park. I must say that the food is very good. There are new owners, our favorite is Roy who came from managing Louie's in Port Washington. They have done a lot with their menu and have a large variety of seafood, steak, sandwiches, and salad. Their happy hour is amazing - discounted beer, wine, well drinks and speciality drinks. Many happy hour food options too. We have tried a lot of their food and love it. To be honest, it beats Louie's on the food and the deals! read more

The outdoor seating area looked so inviting with an overstuffed couch and other comfy achruments. The bronze plated namesake stamped into the foyer really put a proud emphasis on the entrance area, which also included a large flatscreen T.V. and an illumination of fire coming from the inside out. Very classic Irish pub feel with dark wood, small patterned black and white checkered flooring, staining of frosted lettering and edging upon the mirrors and lots of sports upon the screens including the token overseas soccer game. A quick menu glance was all I needed to order up some wings and spinach and artichoke dip. Three options of wings, mild - medium and hot is just too limited. Knowing the reply to my inquiry of a dry rub dies a fast & painful death, so I went well done cook temp, mild sauce as per doctors orders to "avoid anything hot". Quite average in taste, yet the bartender service was nothing short of impeccably attentive. The Spinach Artichoke Dip sat cold and thinnish within the wonderful semolina bread bowl - so good was the bread, I took the lid home to butter the next day. The pita points went mostly untoasted, so the rigidity wasnt enough to scoop the dip. Sure there were forks and spoons and such, but those more civilized options are only dawning on me now. Guinessess,s,s. were pouring beautifully but time was short, so with three down and two more being built -- the old-school chug needed to be dusted off from deep in the hall closet and implemented. Haven't been here in years because there was a major shift in the quality of food. Was in the mood for quick cocktails and being a Monday most placed are closed in the area, so we decided on Jameson's. There wasn't room at the bar so we asked if we could just sit at the high top tables to drink our beers. She said sure but you will have to order something. Which I understand with the entire Covid situation and we were all for supporting local. So we decided lets just order the pretzel sticks they should be cheap and it is what it is. So arrives two sad looking freezer burned pretzels sticks and a side of cheez wiz. I asked isn't this supposed to be 3 pretzels, the waitress says no "3" cheese sauce. I was seriously baffled, that this cost almost $10.00. Obviously still hungry and since we had to look like we were eating to sit there we ordered another appetizer. Now annoyed that we were forced to order food because the bar area didn't have ample seating, we got the bill. $75 bill for 2 pretzel sticks, mozzarella wedges, 4 beers and 2 shots. We come here 6 to 8 times a year on average and have been coming for years. This was the worst meal we have ever had. We understand there's a new chef and he is awful. My pot roast was very dry and my potato pancakes probably had more flour than they had potato. The potato pancakes were dry and tasteless. French fries were greasy. And a sandwich rolls were wet. It took over an hour for us to get our car food and the place was not particularly busy. I felt bad for the server because it wasn't her fault. I did question about the new shift, and she was noncommittal so then we told her how bad we thought it was.. She didn't make a comment either way but you couldn't see it wasn't the first time she had heard that. I'm disappointed because we do like the food here we have always had good experiences. we came on a wednesday before an event and ate at the bar. it wasn't busy when we arrived,just two other groups of guests, it picked up as the night went on--but service was quick, friendly and attentive. bang bang shrimp was delicious! buffalo cauliflower would be my second choice for apps and jalapeño potato croquets were not my personal favorite. we ordered the dublin fish sandwich and split---perfect amount. (thanks steve for the suggestion!) ordered the flatbread later and it was yummy. not pictured ..my husband had the bacon cheddar cheeseburger and said it hit the spot my brother had the french dip and also said it was . ambiance is a typical irish sports bar, music was a nice classic rock genre. read more

The quality of food is poor and I would not recommend eating here. I had to send back 2 entrees. The Jameson Chicken Sandwich was dry and inedible. The steak tidbits were undercooked and tasted like old meat. I tried my friend's chicken quesadilla and again, the chicken tasted old. It was inedible. The manager was completely unhelpful and did not offer any solution or consolation. I felt bad for the waiter so I told the GM he could charge me for the side salad that came with the first entree and HE DID. I was aghast. I called him over and explained that I only said that because I felt bad but now realized I should not feel bad for the poor quality food I was served. I will not return to this restaurant. The quality of the food is sub par at best. The waiter was attentive. The manager needs a refresher course in how to deal with unsatisfied customers. Save your money and go elsewhere. Please note, I've patronized this restaurant over more than 2 decades. This was more than an off night. Save your money and go elsewhere! read more
