Fried mushrooms with a ranch packet
    Jason E.

This place has friendly, fast service and every day a different 899 special the special day I got was the fish sandwich. It came with a large serving of crispy fries. It also comes with the drink and even though their Pepsi which I don't like they have big red and orange crust which are delicious, the bun came toasted always a plus and you can get it with dressed with lettuce and tomato if you want to. The bun tasted very nice. The fish was just fine as much as you would expect for an 899 sandwich. She also got the fried mushrooms which she enjoyed. They did charge for the ranch packet though. I was gonna tip that anyway so not a problem sorry my picture of the sandwich and fries disappeared for some reason, I do have a picture of the mushrooms not a bad deal

New new place in the west.

The fried perch was very very cooked and the lemon pepper was perfect as a seasoning choice.

Food was not good. The chicken had a weird smell and was very dark. It had a disgusting taste too . Fish was not all the way done. It smelt like strong cigarette smoke when i walked through the door. Do not recommend waste of $16

Ordered salmon and shrimp platter. The salmon was overcooked. The fries were mushy. Don't order the salmon. They don't know how to cook it.

However, the older man at the cash register (perhaps the…read moreowner?) overcharged me for everything, and when I pointed it out to him (at first I thought it must be an accident), he threw dollar bills at me while hollering that he knows how to run a restaurant. Well, maybe that's true because most restaurants fail and this one has been around for a while, but maybe it's because they're overcharging their customers instead of increasing their prices on the menu, and hoping the customers don't notice. I've never been so nickeled and dimed at a restaurant! I was so insulted that I handed his few dollar bills back to him and said I just wanted him to be transparent about what he was going to charge me, before he charged me! I asked for a Tilapia sandwich (menu price $8.95) and a Haddock sandwich combo (menu price $13.95 for the sandwich + cole slaw + fries). I asked if the sandwich came with anything on it, and he said no, but he could add pickle slices. He didn't tell me about an upcharge. I asked if I could substitute the fries in the combo for fried mushrooms. He said yes, but there would be a slight difference in price. I said that would be fine because the side items showed it was only a $0.45 difference in price (on the menu, french fries are $3.50 and fried mushrooms are $3.95). I asked if I could pay with credit card, and he said yes, but didn't mention a card fee. What I thought I would be charged: $8.95 + $13.95 + $0.45 = $23.35 + 6% tax = $24.71 total. Instead I was charged $30. When I asked him about it he said there was a $1 credit card fee that he had neglected to tell me about prior, and that instead of charging me for the difference between the price of the fries and mushrooms, he rang each item up separately instead of ringing it up as a combo (first of all, why would he do that??? and second of all, why wouldn't he tell me he was going to do that???). Then he told me he also charged me for the 5 skinny quarter-sized slices of bright green pickles you get from the jar. When I said, "you charged me for pickles?" He said, "of course I charged you for pickles!" So he charged me $8.95 tilapia sandwich + $9.95 haddock sandwich + $2.50 cole slaw + $3.95 mushrooms + $2.00 pickles (TWO DOLLARS FOR 5 SKINNY QUARTER SIZED PICKLE SLICES) + 6% tax + $1 credit card fee = $29.99 (AND OF COURSE HE DIDN'T GIVE ME THE PENNY NOR ASK IF I WANTED TO KEEP THE PENNY; HE KEPT THE PENNY FOR HIMSELF AND CHARGED ME THIRTY WHOLE DOLLARS FOR A $24.71 MEAL).Which isn't a big difference, but in this economy, adds up, and the LEAST they can do is be TRANSPARENT ABOUT WHAT THEY'RE GONNA CHARGE YOU. AND THEN WHEN YOU NOTICE THE DISCREPANCY AND KINDLY & CALMLY ASK IF THEY MADE A MISTAKE, THEY SHOULDN'T GET DEFENSIVE, RAISE THEIR VOICE AT YOU, AND THROW DOLLARS AT YOU IN FRONT OF A LINE OF CUSTOMERS. This was my first time here and I was excited to go back and try everything else. Instead, I'm never going back and I'm telling everyone I know.

So flavorful, garlicky, and easily soaked into the meat. This place and their sauces, I'm telling you! They are awesome at it. The salad was so fresh and smothered in yummy toppings. The blue cheese was nice and tart. Combined with my steak? Ugh, I was so happy. And of course, as always, I loved my bartender. Plus, the weather is nice and they have plenty of outdoor seating.

So for my husband's birthday, we decided to celebrate there with all of our family, and it was such a delightful dinner. We all got something different. I opted for the fish & chips. The fish was huge and perfectly crispy. The chips came out steaming hot and perfectly fried. My sister-in-law got the cottage pie, which really is a showstopper! The bread bowl really makes it. Even my kids were happy (not an easy feat), having ordered the mac-n-cheese and grilled cheese, also stealing chips from our plates. For dessert, we all split the bread pudding -- a hug of a dessert -- and the chocolate Guinness cake. Don't let the "flourless" part of the chocolate cake's description fool you -- this cake is rich and creamy. Our waitress was even able to find a candle, so we could sing to my husband and have him blow it out. The service as always was quick and friendly. Less than a mile from our hotel we came midday in between lunch and dinner so the place was pretty much empty with just a few other patrons. We could sit wherever so we chose a booth at the corner. This was an Americana style restaurant with classic steak, pork, chicken, and vegetarian dishes at reasonable prices. We placed our order for... BLACKENED SALMON - tender and seared. For an additional $1 I asked for bourbon glaze to be spread on my salmon. It was served on a bed of wild rice. The bourbon glaze was definitely a game-changer... the combination of sweet, smoky, and tangy flavors created a yummy flavor. CAJUN PORK CHOPS: not one but two thick cut pork chops brined & seared. Topped with Cajun butter. Husband shared a few bites with me and it had me craving for more. I just helped him finish his pork chops a little bit ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Service was friendly but it can sometimes lack attention.
