The service is really good especially considering the quantity of people who come in! Great spot that has live music, full bar, and a decent menu with something everyone will like. Good spot to bring people from out of town.

    Mudslides. Get ya some.

My first time at Dockside was Summer of 1985. Small bar with indoor and outdoor seating right on the water. Cold beer, good food, live music, friendly people. It was a community that knew each other and cared about each other. My friend's dad lived in Marathon and this was his hangout. I made several more trips over the next 10 years or so but hadn't been since around 2000. Until this year. Family Thanksgiving Trip with my wife and siblings-in-laws. I requested a stop here as we headed down A1A to Key West. They obliged. Just like i remembered it, especially the inside bar. The patio/dock has greatly expanded with a large stage and more seating. But the view and the feel is the same. The look was the same. The Mudslides were the same, except they no longer serve them in pitchers. I introduced my family to them and they enjoyed the cold, creamy goodness. We all had a hearty lunch and moved on. Don't all of you go here at once and turn it into a tourist trap. But slide in on the down-low and enjoy a true Keys experience.

The views are great but the service is lacking. We ordered the peel and eat shrimp, the wings, the calamari, a blackened fish sandwich and a cold brew. I love the self service of going to the bar to get what you need but they acted like it was a chore to assist and then bitched when they only got a 15% tip. The ambience was great. The live music fun. The food was "meh" at best and the service was terrible.

Ask the Community - Dockside Bar and Grill

Do they have gluten free options? Thanks

You could get the burger without a bun or the street tacos without the tortillas (they have steak and chicken). They also serve prime rib one night a week (I think Fridays).

    Is there live music?

Yes but I'm not sure when. When I was there they were setting up before sunset.

Can I bring my fish catche and you cook it for me?

I don't know. Call and ask them.

My husband ordered the ham, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich, and it was absolutely amazing. We split it but the first thing we noticed it was huge. The sandwich was served on Cuban bread that they bake fresh themselves, and it was some of the best bread I've ever had; light, flaky, perfectly golden brown, and incredibly fresh. Every ingredient tasted fresh and homemade, including real eggs cooked to order, not the processed "fake" eggs you find in so many places. Be sure to save room for one of their homemade pastries. Like the bread, everything is baked in-house, and you can taste the care that goes into every bite. The coffee was equally impressive; rich, smooth, and full of flavor. It paired perfectly with breakfast and kept me coming back for more. What really sets LJ's Café apart, though, is the atmosphere. This is a true mom-and-pop establishment where family and friends work together. From the moment you walk into the small storefront, you're welcomed like family. The service is warm, genuine, and makes you feel right at home. And here's an added bonus for Florida travelers: the air conditioning is fantastic! After visiting several places in Marathon, we definitely appreciated being able to enjoy our meal in a cool, comfortable environment. I can't rave enough about this wonderful spot. If you're passing through Marathon, make sure your schedule allows for breakfast or lunch because those are the only hours they're open. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

You go around the corner to the bar area to order any drinks. We found a spot outside at a picnic table by the marina to eat. The food is fresh but overpriced. The lobster roll was good but had more roll than lobster. The lobster chowder was better than the lobster bisque I had at a different restaurant but still not as good as what I make at home. I tried the famous lobster Rueben. It was toasted perfectly on rye. It was fine but I think the sauerkraut over powers the lobster when the lobster needs to be the star of the sandwich. The beating I had here was probably the coconut shrimp with mango sauce. It was perfection. Deliciously crispy and the mango chutney was perfect with it. After we finished eating we went into the seafood market to check out their fresh seafood selection and grabbed a pie of key lime pie to go which comes in a little tart tin. It was really good flavored and the crust was obviously homemade. Not your typical graham cracker crust which was a nice change.

Whether you're looking for a relaxing breakfast or a delicious dinner, this is the place to go. We ordered the omelets, which were fantastic, and they came with fresh Cuban-style bread that was absolutely delicious. Pair that with a café con leche, and you have the perfect start to your day. What made the experience even better was the hospitality. The owner, Kenia, came out to visit with us and made us feel genuinely welcome. Our server, Claudia, was an absolute delight, friendly, attentive, and full of positive energy. The food and service were so good that we ate breakfast here twice during our vacation, and we're coming back for dinner tonight. That's probably the best recommendation we can give! We were seated at a picnic table with a fan which makes the heat bearable in late July. Our waitress came to take our orders right away as we were on the edge of happy hour ending to see if we wanted drinks or food from the specials. I thought that was good of her since often restaurants shut that down early. There is a LOT on the menu. With a name like Porky's we should've all just stuck with the pork. We placed our order. Various food around the table. Lots of tacos. Some grouper, Mahi Mahi, snapper and fried lobster. Some ordered pulled pork plates and I got the lobster bisque and pulled pork tater tot nachos. The pulled pork was good. There didn't seem to be a lot of fish in the tacos. The bisque tasted like Campbell's tomato soup with some lobster added. I wasn't a fan. It was all sadly underwhelming UNTIL the dessert menu rolled out. My husband wanted to try the deep fried key lime pie with raspberry reduction sauce and it was AMAZING!! Made the whole dinner worth it. We would come back just for that. So if you're coming here don't skip the dessert.
