The Sandbar was part of the Whale Harbor as was the Wahoo Bar & Grill where we ate lunch and had a nice view of the ocean but we kept eyeballing the Sandbar Rooftop which was only steps to the ocean and higher up for even a better view. After lunch we took a walk thru the marina to the beach in front of the Sandbar on Tap where we took pictures of rusted cannons and anchors. Went upstairs to the Sandbar On Tap in the elevator but optional stairs provided. The menu offered basic meals of the Keys and a few frozen drinks and beers on tap. It was an immediate OMG from all of us. It was dead empty but just spent time looking out with unobstructed views at the blue green ocean to the boats docked at the actual sandbar. The higher elevation and closer proximity definitely made the views unmatched. read more

This is one of my grandmas favorite happy hour bars to go to. She took me here while visiting and it was so wonderful. The whole restaurant and bar was full, it was a Friday happy hour, but our bartender was attentive and fun. The view is gorgeous. The food was fresh and tasty. What a great suprise. Octopus Ceviche Baby Octopus in a lime juice, ginger, garlic, onion sauce. This unique dish served with chips was spectacular , the flavors all made each bite delectable. Our service was prompt and super with Carlos Rico and Orlando and rest of the crew made us feel welcomed and appreciated. The breeze and fans kept us cool even know it was 87 degrees tonight. The view of the famous ISLAMORADA Sandbar and ocean was great. They have live entertainment which we really enjoyed. And tons of locals enjoying the evening. And Friday is Happy all day long with three specials at 50% off. The Sandbar is a must go to place for either locals or visitors. read more

This was our first time here which was such a disappointment! Picked the restaurant because it was overlooking the water. We ordered a cheeseburger and their "famous nachos", sweet tea and a Pepsi. My nachos had a long hair in them! Unfortunately for me I was already 4 bites in. I wasn't mad, upset, etc at all... $hi! Happens. What was upsetting was that our waitress didn't give a crap! Honestly, she didn't even apologize. Makes me question, is this a common occurrence there? I decided not to reorder another meal for myself. Thought that I would sip on my iced tea while hubby ate his burger. Had to ask for a refill for both drinks. Okay... we get our refills and neither one came back with ice! Unbelievable! Now onto the burger. For a burger and fries for $20, it shouldn't be a Bubba Burger from the frozen isle of the grocery store! Had to find her to pay the check. I was happy that the nachos were taken off the bill. I really thought that we would have gotten some sort of apology... nope! This place was so disappointing! read more

Sand Bar has only recently opened. It's on the second floor above the Seafood Buffet of Whale Harbor, but fortunately there is an elevator on the outside just to the left of the Seafood Buffet entrance. Sand Bar has an immaculate update decor loaded with nautical themes. It's really gorgeous and with ocean views second to none. If for no other reason the beautiful views make Sand Bar worth a stop by. But all of that goodness is pretty much wasted by a series of horrible downsides. By the time I got the bartenders attention it was 7:05pm; so no Happy Hour for me as Happy hour comes to an abrupt end at 7:00pm. Worse however was the pour. My partner ordered a Scotch the rocks but the chintzy miserly pour turned out to be barely visible and disappeared within a single sip. Then there is the culinary amusing Happy Hour menu consisting of little more than French Bread Pizza (really?), wings and the typical peel and eat shrimp. But the thing that was the big turn off to me was their live music; a single guitarist with a voice of gravel singing, not Caribbean, Buffet Parrot Head, or reggae, but instead hillbilly West Virginia. Like who would come here, to the Keys, to listen to that crap? read more

Saturday afternoon vibes...we were on our way to the BBQ event and the traffic was crazy. We had a 2+ hour drive for a 1 hour distance. After driving a long time we decided to stop here enjoy a drink and were going to decide to continue on the drive or just enjoy the place. We stayed for a few drinks, a snack and then late lunch/early dinner at the restaurant next door. So, let's talk a little about the experience...we were welcomed by the staff who was really pleasant. The view was beautiful and the locals were welcoming. Topics of conversation and things we should note. We ordered a couple of margaritas and these were really good. The human ordered a pizza and it was delicious. The best part of this all was the view. There was shade. There was a breeze. It was a great experience. read more

Breeezy and Boozy!!! Finished a morning fishing charter at the Wahoo docks and walked over to this third floor bar. Bright and colorful decor. Amazing waterfront view of the ocean AND entertained myself watching all the sport boats return to base and display their daily catchings. Wonderful breeze. Live music! Sampled some crispy, seasoned french fries to munch on...almost ate the whole basket myself! I'd go back everyday if I was local. Definitely will be adding this to my necessary visit each vacation. Couldn't have asked for a better way to end my day! read more

Have been in Islamorada for a week and this place is yet to be open. Anytime we have tried to go It's closed. It near our resort and we have check to make sure it is open we get there and they say they are closed. Disappointing read more

We came on Sunday night at 5:30. Their website and Google site both said they were open until at least 9. We tried to sit down and the bartender "greeted" us with "this is our last call." We looked confused. My husband asked "Oh because of COVID?" which would be understandable and the bartender gave a lame excuse that they like to close early because the "entertainment" has been playing all day. What?? Just don't go. Lorelei's across the road is so much better. read more

Apologies if this is the wrong place, but.... we went tonight for the Super Moon party, great idea, great band, and as locals we've been there several times. While we love their sister establishments, this place continues to be a disaster for service. We left today because we couldn't get served, they kept our debit card, we couldn't even get their attention to tab out. On the bright side, the bar tender is a lawyer, which apparently means she can only focus on one client at a time, even when they order 15 drinks one at a time. Mr. Howard, you have amazing staff, not sure why this establishment continues to be a boondoggle. So much potential!!! read more

What a disappointment; nothing like we expected for 42 dollars all you can eat. Food terrible, steamed shrimp over cooked. Chicken wings over cooked so much the meat was fried out of the wing or leg. Very little seafood items to choose from. Beef not too tasty either. Only thing good was the desserts and the view. We left there looking for another place to eat. No way you could eat 42 dollars worth with that selection of terrible food. Never again will I ever walk in that restaurant. read more
