Why did I wait so long to come here? Paula, who ran the entire dining room rocked. She was quick and efficient and was kind enough to blacken my fish on the lunch special instead of it's advertised fried. For $10, I received a decent size piece of fish, crisp lettuce and a white onion with bread and butter pickle slices. My only complaint was the bun wasn't toasted. It was served with waffle fries (yes they were that good and put chick fil a to shame) and a side of cole slaw. Everything was great and a wonderful deal. Support local business and local seafood.

What a wonderful little spot. It's not the prettiest place on Gulf Blvd., but I doubt the food could be much better. Our service was good, our food was great. The atmosphere was a little meh, but this is a great place to eat for sure !!! The scallops were large, fresh and juicy. The grouper was large, fresh and juicy. The shrimp were large, fresh and juicy. You get the idea. YUM !!!

This place is the best seafood location within walking distance of the resorts at St. Pete's Beach. It's a bit towards the end of the "strip" for the resort area, but it's worth the extra walk. Seafood Bisque was really good! It looked like some colored sludge, but the flavors were delicious! Also, I've heard their onion rings are legit, but I didn't get a chance to try them on my two visits here. Calamari was decent, nothing spectacular, but well done and ample portions. Crabcakes get a bit salty if you eat all three by yourself, however they were fairly decent as well. The grouper meal was excellent, and many locals have recommended the grouper sandwich as an item to get here. Also had the chance to try the shrimp, and scallops dinner. Shrimp was a bit overseasoned, leaving them more salty than I would have preferred, however the scallops were definitely cooked well. Atmosphere is excellent, have some limits of beer on tap, but nothing that would take away from the experience here. All in all, if you're visiting the resorts at St. Pete's Beach and feel the need to get some seafood, Dockside Dave's is worth looking into! The best we found out of the handful of seafood places in the area! Hope that helps!

Place is such a dive, I love it! Food was amazing, and the place had a nice kids menu. The Grouper sandwiches were awesome. We also got the seafood bisque. That was also incredible! A definite must when at St Pete Beach!

We had phenomenal service in this small quaint little place. Barb took great care of us and even successfully recommended portion sizes for our family saving us money. The onion rings are to die for. Seriously. The batter is seasoned perfectly and amazing. Tried to order a large order a d thankfully was told we really only needed a small. How right she was! Fried oyster dinner was exactly what I was craving. Caesar salad was so large my nearly adult kids shared it. The side Caesar salad at that. Gator bites, yum! Calamari wasn't a hit but that was by no fault of theirs. Chicken sandwich was delicious too. We will eat here again when we return to St Pete Beach.

Great seafood restaurant on St. Pete beach!!! We walked in and were able to seat ourselves at a table of our liking. We were promptly greeted by our server, drinks ordered and reviewed the menu. Having dined here previously, we were familiar with their menu and offerings. Ordered a large basket of onion rings--- ohh my goodness gracious were they amazing! The rings were hot, fresh, huge and delicious! Served with horseradish and ketchup-- can't beat the flavor! Three of us ordered the grouper sandwich which was the largest portion I'd ever seen, a burger that was huge and chicken tenders with waffle fries. The burger was good, chicken fingers batter was great and waffle fries blew chick fil a away! Great alternatives to seafood. This is a low key restaurant which I appreciate! There are silverware and napkins on the table, some plates are Styrofoam and food is usually served in a basket. There's outside dining for those who wish to dine outdoors and a small parking lot. Please don't let this small dining establishment fool you on their food, flavor or expertise of a great meal!

Such a great little place! Just walked in with a party of 10 and was super accommodating. Anything with grouper was amazing as well as everything else my party got. My fiancé got the blackened grouper tacos that she thought was out of this world! The waitress was a bit sassy that for me was expectant. If we ever come to St. Petersburg again, we will be stoping here. read more

No trip to the Tampa Bay area is complete without a stop at Dockside Dave's. The best grouper in the history of the world. You can't go wrong with anything you order here. I love the shrimp and scallops combo. They make their sauces in house, so yummy. I wish I was there right now. The only drawback is the lack of anything local or interesting on tap, but when I'm devouring my grouper sandwich or the shrimp and scallops I'm not too concerned about what I'm drinking. The bartenders and servers are always friendly and service is quick. read more

With a hundred restaurants that sell fish in St Pete Beach we decided to try Dockside Dave's based on yelp recommendations . Boy were we happy we did! Started off with an appetizer of their fish spread. Probably one of the best I have had. It was accompanied with spicy pickles, pepperocinis , tomatoes , onions and crackers. It could have been my meal but I had to order their grouper, rave reviews on the best fresh grouper around.My husband ordered the blackened grouper sandwich and I decided on the blackened grouper tacos. We then split the two. So good and so delicious. A side order of their homemade onion rings and horseradish sauce completed our meal. Best Grouper Sandwich I've ever had. Now, I'm no expert on these, but seriously....this sandwich was amazing. They are fairly priced considering the sandwich was about the size of my head. I mean, it was a ridiculously big sandwich. We got a side of fries, which were also great and a couple of ice cold Coronas. The location is easy to get to, decent parking spaces were available and the place was cute inside. I've been twice and both times, the service was sloooooooooww. However, totally worth it for this gem of a sandwich. I will be back! read more

Dockside Dave's is a must when visiting St. Pete Beach! They are famous for their Grouper sandwich and it will not disappoint. I had mine lightly blackened and it was perfect! I also had their new zucchini fries which were fabulous as well. It was so good I may have to visit twice this trip!! Our waitress Mandy was awesome and answered all my questions expertly!! Atmosphere not top notch, but food and service are. Best fried scallops my wife or I have had. Grouper fritters (just like crab cakes, but grouper) were excellent and grilled grouper excellent too. Not too many beer choices, but they had a couple I liked so it worked for me. My son really enjoyed his noodles and butter, but surprised they didn't offer any milk or juice. Small dining room worked by 2-3 servers so they were always nearby if and when needed, but never bothered us. I consider this place a great find and would recommend it and would return. read more

Great service. Everyone was very friendly and attentive. The food was okay. Nothing special. I'm not sure what the hullabaloo is about the grouper sandwich with some of these Yelp reviews. It was just fine but certainly not outstanding. Just a regular ol sandwich. The shrimp and scallop pasta was just fine. Scallops were good but shrimp was slightly over-cooked. My daughter's bowl of kids menu buttered noodles looked absolutely disgusting. There was 3/4 inch of melted butter at the bottom of the bowl. Nasty. Overall the place is fine. Don't go expecting anything fancy or exceptional though. Again, great service. Lastly, they don't serve booze. Just beer and wine. read more

One of the best stops on the strip. Don't be fooled by the small interior, this place serves big flavor along with very reasonable prices. Only wish we had found it earlier. Order the grouper or anything seafood related and you will not be disappointed!! read more

The grouper sandwich is the best I have ever had anywhere! Generous amount of fresh fish. We tried both the batter fried and the blackened grouper - both excellent. The onion rings were fantastic as well - also large portions. The tables are a little sticky, but otherwise it is clean. Friendly staff. read more

Even after reading good reviews of this place, I was still surprised by the quality of the food, especially in relation to the prices. Tired of fried fish, French fries and burgers after a week ofvacations in touristville, I ordered the "Lightly Blackened Grilled Chicken", and added a side house salad and chose sliced tomatoes as my second side. I wanted veggies and experience tells me that most restaurant salads are mainly lettuce and the occasional carrot shaving... WOW, was I surprised to be served a rather large side-salad of mixed greens, zucchini, summer squash, carrots, cucumber, broccoli, cauliflower and lovely, ripe, tomatoes. PERFECT. I did remove the raw onions, so order without if you prefer. My husband had a 1/2 pound (!) Grouper sandwich that he declared absolutely delicious, and my kids liked their grouper nuggets and fresh chicken fingers, neither of which came from the freezer. I would prefer if a restaurant offered a veggie side for kids, rather than French fries, but I realize that most kids won't eat veggies anyway (mine do). I'd give five stars if the seating was a little more appropriate to the space (4 tops and two tops and a few 8 tops--- none of which worked well for our party of five, and it's a small space), and there was another option for kid meal sides. Ambience not the world's best, but it's a funky local place. Clearly. Service was more than friendly. A surprisingly nice experience. read more

Took my 1 yr old here for lunch. I ordered the fish tacos and an order of grouper nuggets for him. Order was out in about 5 minutes. Everything was made to order. I got two tacos in my order...fish was perfect, the flour tortillas were grilled and the pico de gallo was fresh. The cabbage gave the taco a nice crunch. The grouper nuggets were also fried perfectly. Everything was perfect until I saw three HUGE cockroaches crawling around the floor...going under customers feet and chairs. I flipped out. As I waited for the waItress to return, I started noticing how unclean the place was... dusty windowsills and dusty papertowel racks, cracked walls, sticky tables and dirty floors. Cockroaches should NEVER be crawling around a restaurant...YUCKO. would like to return but no way. read more

I was there January 21 2012. You would not think the is anything more than just a cheap tiki bar but that is the point, I think. It keeps the tourist our. This is a great place. The drinks are great big monsters. The food is amazing and cooked by an actual trained chef. This aint no tiki bar. It is a 4 star restaurant in disguise. Considering some of the other choices in the area, I would eat here at least once a visit if not once every day. read more

This is a basic down home bar and restaurant. This not a fancy place but a place for real people. The grouper sandwich was very large and I wasn't sure that I would eat all of it but it was so delicious I did not want to stop. The price is right and all the food we ordered was excellent. read more

Ate here last night and were very happy with our meals. Husband and I both ordered grouper (mine country fried, his blackened) - both very good! Grouper couldn't be any fresher and was cooked perfectly. We were also very impressed with the seafood bisque, which was delicious. It was full of seafood and really the best I've had in recent years. We enjoyed our meal so much we came back for more tonight. We went lighter tonight - I ordered peel and eat jumbo shrimp (perfectly steamed, jumbo and delicious). My husband went for a bowl of the bisque and grouper bites - again awesome! Not a fancy place but the food is very good and service was prompt and courteous. Next time we are here in St. Pete Beach, will definitely eat there again. read more

We followed the other reviews and tried the grouper sandwich (blackened and lightly blackened). The grouper is cooked very well and we both were pretty satisfied. Husband couldn't stop talking about it well into the rest of our vacation. The sandwich was missing something though... might we suggest putting your coleslaw on top. :) You won't be sorry. Service could be friendlier, but they are timely. read more

A local recommended Dockside Dave's, and as usual the locals really do know the best places to eat-Wow! When you find the restaurant it is just an unassuming brick square building. Frankly, we thought it was a little sketchy looking. Someone else on a review mentioned that the onion rings were large, that is a understatement! We ordered 12 instead of six and it was way more than three adults could eat. They were delicious as was everything else we ordered and the prices were great. Definitely a hidden gem on the Gulf Drive strip. read more

The friendliest staff you could imagine and awesome, fresh food. Two of us shared the "half order" of onion rings which is larger than most full orders and we each had grouper sandwiches. The grouper was excellent and very fresh. The only thing I would change is I wouldn't order the batter fried grouper and onion rings at the same time-too much fried food. I would most likely do the blackened grouper next time. All in all, excellent experience and an easy 5 stars. read more

I have no idea where all of these people raving about the place were eating (or smoking). Should have eaten at Denny's. read more

I've been here several times over the years while on vaca. Last year it was showing its age and I was wondering if it had turn downhill. This year new floor, windows, paint, counters -WOW! Was back at Dockside Dave's again over the weekend and they came through with flying colors, as always. Usually, I opt for the rockin' Amberjack fish spread with all the condiments and the Grouper Cakes but since it had been a while for a Grouper Dinner, went the full monty and so glad because it was deliciously fresh and done to perfection. We eat there probably every couple of weeks and it's worth the ride. Fun atmosphere, great staff and make your mouth happy food. Can't wait to go back! read more

Btw --ask (if possible) for Alan if you want the best service in St Pete Beach. He was super knowledgeable on every single dish and had the best of recommendations. Something tells me this guys is a true foodie! He said to try the Blue Fin Tuna appetizer which was killer esp with its teriyaki/blueberry sauce. We also split the Coconut Curry Snapper (Thai style curry btw) we added the Crispy Brussel sprouts as an addition. The snapper came out great -- soft, flavorful, and little sweet with a bit of a soft kick that complemented the coconut rice. Overall--it's one of the best spots on St Pete beach and would highly recommend.

The bar staff (and likely restaurant staff) will give you a QR code to validate all $58 of your parking. But it made me acutely miss a time when you could just park and patronize an establishment. Just don't forget to validate your parking, cuz they sure didn't ask preemptively. They were celebrating a 3-day grand reopening when we went on Saturday. There was *one* artisan in their market space. The music was pumping loud enough to not be able to converse. Although it drew a crowd of younger folks, there was not much to behold from the "grand" reopening. Not even s cost of paint. The beach bar may not have been part of the sprucing up idk, I didn't see anything worth celebrating. I meant to look at the size of the cocktail cup that we got (small), but $13-14 for a cocktail is highway robbery for the end result. And $18 for 6 wings ($3 a wing) was a little disappointing. I expected better of a Hilton adjoined restaurant. No one part was terrible. It was just the way they matched up - loud, expensive, small portions. If you're loud maybe you're cheap and tasty. If you're expensive, maybe you're fast and delicious. This was all the worst parts of a bar that doesn't care about its patrons' economics. A bar that wants to serve tourists with mediocrity and move on to the next crop of people who will never be there again. If you're a tourist it'll probably be fine, if overpriced. If you're a local, don't bother. To be fair, we should ask if there was anything good. hm ... no. We won't be returning. 3 stars is probably generous.

We knew we found the right place as soon as we walked in and saw the specials board and some local guys starting chatting us up about what to order! We started with the Conch fritters (awesome!), a pitcher of beer (cheap and awesome!) and then had three entrees (Captain's Platter, Blackened Grouper, and the special--Hogfish), all were amazing!
