A page from the May 2026 menu. Sorry, I lost the photos of the other pages...

Probably the best grouper on the Pinellas County FL gulf-beaches! Dockside Dave's in Madeira Beach is finally open after the hurricanes! (May 2026) It's better than ever! The onion rings were crispy, huge and flavorful! The fried grouper was truly half a pound. Delicious and crispy in their beer batter! They still have the pink soup! And the tomato basil was very flavorful and homemade. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have covered seating out front, on the side, upstairs, too! Also indoor seating of course.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's great to see such excellent quality food again from this classic beach restaurant :-)

SOLID 5 STARS My Wing Man Gary (USAF Pilot, retired) and I had a taste for scallops, so off to Dockside Dave's we went. I had my 8 large scallops ($24.95) prepared with my fav, lemon pepper, and Gary went with his fav, blackened. We also went with Dockside Onion Rings appetizer ($9.95). Topped it off with a great Bloody Mary. Dockside Dave's is a local favorite with great prices and great food. Emilie provided spot on service as well. Can't go wrong with any item on the menu. Trust me!

Our family came here on the last night of our vacation and we were blown away with the hospitality we received. The hostess accommodated us and found us great seating outside for our party of 6. The vibes are chill and beachy, and perfect for a family. The food was super delicious, and the portion sizes were great for the prices we paid. Affordable seafood. I ordered the clam strip basket and I loved it. Sailor was our server and she was absolutely incredible! Her energy was so great and she was so bubbly. I would credit most of our positive experience tonight to her amazing energy and service.

To start, the service. Holy hell I've never been more annoyed in my entire life and I'm like State Farm. I know a thing or 2 because I've seen a thing or 2. Our waitress aka most annoying woman in the world couldn't get through us ordering without forcing a southern accent . Next the freaking food department needs to be up in this hoe. Serve safe is a JOKE. I have an allergy and cannot even order French fries or a chicken sandwich without being in fear of an anaphylactic episode that was described as a "tummy ache". Reassuring. Finally the food was mid at best they prolly were ground zero for the parasite going around.

We sat at bar as there was a wait for a table. James greeted us and got us ice cold beer to start. We ordered the Gigantic onion rings. They were so good. We shared the Grouper sandwich as it was HUGH!. Got it blackened Nice atmosphere. Open to outside downstairs and an upstairs bar and outdoor seating as well. We'll we got the grouper sandwich and it warm at best. We got it blackened, but flavor was lacking. We thought we were getting fries, but we were served waffled fries which were just barely warm. The slaw was warm at best. We went here way before the hurricane and the grouper was not that great then either. After hearing all the rave reviews about their grouper sandwich, not sure we'll be back. James the bartender was attentive as the bar was busy. The atmosphere was ok, just it was a little pricy, but I guess its for tourists mostly.

Love Love Love this place - so glad they opened back up after the big storm! Grouper Nuggets were so good! Fish was moist and the outside was crispy. Perfecto! Dave's Citrus Shrimp sooooooo DELICIOUS!!! Get them!!! Onion Rings... something changed..? The batter didn't seem quite the same as last time we were there. Still good, but not as "airy" and light as they were before. The staff was the same friendly, maybe even more upbeat, as before. Always happy to be there! The renovation is amazing - the new upstairs seating and the added bar is GREAT!! Love what they did. Got me some nice merch to show off that they are back in business!! Would I go back? YES... totally worth the trek from California !

Took a day trip and had lunch at DD's. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The outside seating allows to enjoy a nice day with an ocean breeze to go along with some good food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The hand made onion rings are a meal by themselves which is what may happen next time with a beer. The fried oysters meal came with waffle fries sprinkled with old bay and they spoke to me! The shrimp po' boy had some really good Gulf shrimp that was good by themselves which. Our server Amanda was always there and made sure you were never in need.

They just recently renovated the building. It's nice and clean with outside seating and inside as well. Service is friendly and helpful. We ordered the large grouper sandwich blackened. It was huge and plenty for us to split. The largest onion rings I have ever seen. We got a small order. They were cooked perfectly and crispy. Best rings ever. We are always happy at this restaurant. Good drinks also.

Okay, they're finally back!! They unfortunately were devastated by the hurricanes a year and a half ago and had to shut down. NOW THEY'RE REOPENED and we had to come get my favorite Grouper sandwich ever!! Definitely best in the area! No one compares! Our server, Carla was so awesome!! Such a great server!! So we came here with my Wife's parents. We decided to order all of our favorites instead of each of us ordering our own meal and all of our food came out and wow!! They did such a great job!! Everything was so delicious!! I attached pictures!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Such a great vibe at this place and everyone is so nice![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ironically enough. We were walking out to our car and another customer on the way to his car said "that was the best grouper sandwich ever!! Frenchy's doesn't have anything on this place!!". I laughed because I've been saying the same thing ever since I've been coming here! So to sum this up, if you want the best grouper sandwich on the area, DO NOT go anywhere but here!! Highly recommend you make this a go to spot on your vacation or if you're local, you should pay Dockside Dave's a visit!!

First time back since the hurricane disaster. Its completely remodeled with 2 stories and full bars. Yes I said bars. 1 upstairs and 1 downstairs. Ordered the grouper sandwhich batter fried and its better than it was before. Didnt think this was possible but it was! And the onion rings are magnificent. The batter is unbelievable. Love love love this place. And now with better views on the second story

I had previously (pre hurricane) gone and wrote a Great review. Fast forward after hurricane to celebrate my husbands birthday and support a local place, what a horrible difference! Stood inside to be acknowledged when walked in and not kidding waited over 20 minutes, only because we asked a waiter. Took forever for food to arrive and not all at once, 5-15 minutes between plates arriving and on top my husband whom was celebrating his birthday was the Last one to receive his meal. Complete disappointment between the time and the food being horrible. Yes, they've only been open a month but at that rate I don't know. Saturday night was not full house. We were told they were trying to work everything out. Today Sunday, Everyone is sick to their stomach! Good Luck

Dockside Daves Grouper Sandwich is the best and largest on the beach. The new building is awesome!

So nice we had to visit TWICE…read more The coconut crusted mahi mahi was a highlight. It was soft and fully coated with obviously real coconut - not sugared or overly sweet. It was a huge fillet, which makes up for having some smaller sides. I'll let you in on a little secret, I only eat fish when it's locally caught and fresh and this was worth it 100%. The house salad with Pima colada dressing has me imagining how to make this dressing at home. Sweet and creamy and easily coating every leaf. The bread at the start of the meal for a disproportionate amount of attention from my family. It was served hot, with garlic and maybe other seasonings across the top, and generous sides of butter. Our initial server, Kyle, kept the bread flowing for us until the meal came and it was fantastic. We gave the potato skins a try, and they were delicious! My family ironically isn't huge conch / shelled fish eaters so the rest of the appetizers didn't suit us much and this was a lil Midwest taste while on vacation. We returned to try the jalapeño crusted grouper and were again very satisfied. Totally different than the coconut mahi, it's savory and well flavored but leaves you far from begging for water. The fish is thick and flaky and the sauce was similar to a bang bang sauce to pair it all together. The favorite sides were loaded baked potato and garlic smashed potatoes! I'd say it's a must visit during your trip to Madeira !

Muscles Marinara arrived with a ton of Muscles, however the Diablo sauce was way down towards the lower 1/4 of the bowl, once tasted it was very good, had some tasty mushrooms plus spinach - Just needed a descent amou of Sauce. Most entrees were good. The Linguini with Clams was very tasty, Jalepano Grouper was good, 2 orders Special of Soft Shell Crabs, seemed to be loaded with too much breading batter to enjoy thrm. They had a fresh catch of grouper that day, so we decided to try the grouper nuggets. They're market price, but absolutely worth it. Even our friend preferred them over his fried fish. The batter was light, crispy, and delicious. Our kids ordered the bacon cheese fries and loved them. Just a heads-up: they use a nacho cheese sauce rather than shredded cheese, which some people may prefer to know ahead of time. Our friend from Massachusetts ordered the lobster sub (also market price) and said it was worth every penny. My husband and I split the grouper nuggets and the Philly cheesesteak. The bread is brought in from up north, and our server's recommendation did not disappoint. The sandwich was rich, flavorful, and one of the highlights of the meal. We also tried the onion rings. They use a beer batter, which wasn't our favorite, but that's more of a personal preference than a criticism. Overall, we'd definitely return if we're in the area again. The only downside was parking--$29.99 for two hours is pretty brutal. Thankfully, the food and atmosphere helped make up for it.

Broke N Bored - Name Checks Out…read more We visited Broke N Bored with a group of 6 adults and 3 kids, and after nearly 2 hours waiting for our food, I can confirm the "Bored" part of the name is extremely accurate. I spent most of the meal wondering if the "Broke" part referred to the stove. When we arrived, there was only one other family in the restaurant, so naturally we expected a reasonable wait. Instead, we had enough time to watch the tides change, discuss our retirement plans, and nearly raise the children to adulthood before the entrees arrived. To start things off, we were encouraged to sit outside in the blazing Florida sun. With three little kids, that wasn't happening. The staff did move us inside, but seemed less than thrilled about it. Considering how long we ended up waiting, sitting outside would've turned us into SpongeBob from his out of water movie. Appetizers: * The PB&J Brussels sprouts were fantastic. Unique, flavorful, and easily the best thing we ordered. * The seared tuna was very good. * The calamari tasted good, but apparently calamari prices must be through the roof because there were more fried banana peppers than actual squid. Service: The waitresses were friendly, but drink refills and table check-ins could have been much better. During a two-hour dining experience, hydration becomes a survival issue. Entrees: * The mahi was excellent. * The "pineapple slaw" had about as much pineapple flavor as a bag of plain cabbage. Just call it slaw and save everyone's expectations. * The crab cakes were mediocre and thinner than Slender Man. * The Caesar chicken wrap was okay, but I had to conduct an archaeological dig through the lettuce to locate the chicken. * Fries were fine. * The chicken caprese was decent if you got a bite with everything together, but the chicken itself was chewy and lacking flavor. * Mashed potatoes were dry. * Pulled pork was okay, but nothing memorable. * The Black & Blue burger was decent. By the time our entrees arrived, nobody had the patience left for dessert, so we skipped it. One final note: a restaurant this size having only two high chairs is a bold strategy for a family-friendly beach area. Overall, there were a few genuinely good menu items, especially the Brussel sprouts and mahi, and the staff was pleasant. But waiting almost two hours for food in a restaurant that wasn't busy overshadows nearly everything else. The food was mostly decent. The experience? Long enough to make the restaurant's name feel less like branding and more like a warning.

Service was fast, friendly, and attentive throughout our meal. We loved the complimentary warm bread served with seasoned olive oil--it was a huge hit with the kids before our food even arrived. We started with the calamari, which was perfectly crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, and served with two delicious dipping sauces. It disappeared quickly! For our entrées, the coconut shrimp was outstanding. The shrimp were large, coated in a crunchy toasted coconut breading, and paired perfectly with the orange blossom honey marmalade. The creamy garlic mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus, and roasted tomatoes rounded out a delicious plate. We also ordered the crab cakes, which were packed with lump crab meat, perfectly seared, and complemented by the Creole mustard aioli. Our kids were just as impressed! The kids' fish and chips meal came with a surprisingly generous portion of flaky fish, crispy fries, and fresh fruit, making it an excellent value. Our other child ordered the adult cheeseburger entrée and couldn't stop talking about how amazing it was. It was thick, juicy, perfectly cooked, topped with melted cheddar, and served on a soft bun with crisp lettuce and tomato. Every dish was beautifully presented, fresh, and full of flavor. Combined with the relaxing outdoor atmosphere and exceptional service, Guppy's delivered a fantastic dining experience. The restaurant is located behind the German club on 66th Street, a second business in the German club parking lot! Apparently, the family that has his place is from Maine and they got a lot of success brewing beer. That's success led them to start the restaurant serving seafood from a family business in Maine. We started off with a bowl of New England clam chowder and a dozen oysters. To what are whistles we got a glass of their tap Chardonnay and a beer. My wife's Chardonnay was ridiculously good! But nothing could beat those oysters - sweet with a little bit of brine, and very fresh. For dinner we got a lobster roll - they come hot or cold, with the hot coming with melted butter. We also got the fried haddock roll.... Wow! Both were fantastic! I know we overdid it with dinner.... We even got an order of the whole belly clams. I didn't think anyone in Florida served those down here! Absolutely ridiculous . In short, we had fantastic dinner and terrific beverages. Hadn't been here in many years, but wanted to see if it was just as great as before…read more While we had a later timed reservation for the 4th of July, we were able to be accommodated for our earlier 45min arrival at 5pm. They were pretty busy so that was awesome. We were immediately sat in their sushi room, the ambiance a bit outdated. Our server from the get go seemed rushed and distracted, but kindly answered our questions and took our order. Our steak tartar appetizer took a long time to arrive. Sadly wasn't up to par and seemed kinda mushier than any I've ever tasted. It also lacked seasoning, so giving that 2 stars. The accompaniments on the plate helped so it wasn't a total failure but still a disappointment. Their courtesy sourdough bread and olive oil with herbs was good. Our meal also took a long time to arrive. When it did, we had to ask for forks because apparently somebody didn't set the table correctly... and server didn't notice before our dinner service. He should have noticed when bringing out our appetizer at the very least. As for the main entrees, The panko hogfish and garlic mash was good, as well as the picatta sauce, 4stars. The filet mignon kabob with shrimp scampi was disappointing, 1.5 stars. We couldn't tell it was filet mignon and double checked the menu later thinking it was some other cut of beef. The shrimp in itself had a different odd taste. Not the scampi sauce which was good but the actual shrimp. We were not pleased at all with this type of shrimp. While our server glanced over at us several times before the appetizer, he didn't check on us again till about half way through the main course. By then I wasn't feeling well and had my husband flag him down to start our exit service. That took awhile too. 2 stars in service. For what this place use to be like back in the day, I would say the service and food quality have gone down. Today's experience was less than favorable and below average. For the price of the food, I would say we didn't get what we paid for. 2 sodas, 1 appetizer and 2 entrees was $110.. what we got in return didn't match. So to answer the magic question, no, we will not be giving this place our business anymore. Several misses on the food quality and execution made it less than desirable to give this restaurant another chance, especially at this higher price point as well.

I dream about this place all the time. It's exceptional service everytime. The food comes out…read morefairly quickly and taste dynamite every single time. You order at the counter when you walk in and you can sit down anywhere. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The interior is fairly clean and very organized and the condiments are always stocked. They have a self serve water and soda station. The lobster is on the pricier side. It used to not be $30 however it is very worth it. I love to get the warm lobster roll and it comes with a lobster butter. I like to get their coconut shrimp since it's hand battered on site and also their onion rings are also hand battered made to order. They have a really good smoky dipping mayo sauce that comes with the onion rings or fries. It is a very good sauce. I would say it's the saltier version of cane sauce and a small gear version as well. It's absolutely phenomenal. You will never find a better coconut shrimp or a better onion rings than here this place really does it very well better than any place I've ever had homemade. The lobster roll is very very fresh. I would definitely get it again. It is always always fresh. You'll never get a bad lobster roll here not like at the other places. I think this is the only place in Florida that does it the best I used to fly to Boston just to get a lobster roll and ever since I've been here I don't have to do that anymore lol. Their clam chowder soup is extra thick and that is the best type of clam chowder soup ever I loved just dip my onion rings in there and the coconut shrimp in there and the lobster roll in there. It is absolutely delicious. The best you'll get in the area.

Great place near the beach and a short drive from Clearwater beach area…read more This place is small about 5 tables inside and a couple outside. The food is amazing. Coconut Shrimp - skip the fries and slaw and get the cup of chowder. The chowder is packed full of calms and is super delish. Ask for regular cocktail sauce this one comes with chili sweet sauce which is good but also over powering. The shrimp are HUGE you get about 6-7 of them. Garlic shrimp roll - flavor of goodness. Comes with fries we substituted for onion rings. Fried shrimp basket - nicely fried with slaw and fries. The staff were all super nice.
