We had one of the worst experiences at dinner tonight. We were seated beside a family of two parents and four ill behaved children. We were told while seated that there were no tables available outside so where we were put was the next best thing. Afterwards, when I complained about our seating and experience I was told that it was the only available table around, even though we passed three tables on the way to our seats. We will definitely never eat there again. Food wasn't great either. read more

We arrived about an hour before closing on a Friday night. We had a nice table in the corner, and a very friendly waitress. The meal was very bad. My husband ordered the catfish and he stated it was the worst he had ever had, and was mushy. I ordered the stuffed flounder with crab meat and shrimp, it came with green beans and carrots, and a baked potato. The potato was cold, didn't arrive with butter or sour cream, but with horseradish. The flounder wasn't fully cooked and after the first taste, I wasn't going to eat another bite. It tasted like it had been around for a day or two too long. The waitress was kind enough to replace my meal, and I ordered the crab cake dinner instead. I ate one crab cake and by that time my husband had had enough and was so disgusted with his meal and the first one I ordered we left. This 70 something dollar meal was our first of the trip and after trying this restaurant years ago(it was bad then also) we decided never again. Great fish shack! We sat on the patio in the shade by the marsh and were very comfortable. Not too hot and not too buggy. The cornbread is sweet and tasty. The beer is ice cold. We had fried mushrooms and She Crab Soup for Apps,both were really good. We each had the same entree, crab stuffed flounder. This was no crab stuffing with breadcrumbs, the entire rolled stuffing was seasoned, fresh crab meat! With a loaded baked potato and grilled veggies, they were spectacular dinners!. read more

I ordered the seafood pasta linguine, chicken tenders for the tot and my husband ordered the Captain's Platter with corned bread and hush puppies for appetizers. Typical marina seafood restaurant- good with a lot of seafood options and a full bar. Captains Platter was filling and offered a great variety. It's right on the water with a huge parking lot and large dining area. Nice locals atmosphere. Bartenders were great. read more

Food was delicious as usual. We sat at the bar and were able to order the full menu which was nice. Our bartender/server Mike was a little too much, preferred the respectful way of the lady bartenders instead. We will return next time we visit Beaufort from Maryland. read more

went for dinner with my husband Friday night. Sat at the inside bar. our bartender was Victoria. Took her awhile to get us drinks which should have been a sign. we ordered our food. I told her I wanted my salmon well done, I knew by her quickness to dismiss me that she wasn't really listening. Our dinners came out and the salmon was not cooked right! sent it back. I told my husband to go ahead and eat. I sat and waited, and waited . my husband was just about finished and I told Victoria to forget about my meal. She insisted and went back to see what was the deal. Finally I got my dinner but by then I was not interested. while I waited she ask me if I would like another drink, I said yes as I was sitting there with no meal. So our night night was ruined. BTW the gentleman next to us his order was messed up too by Victoria. the only thing she didn't mess up on was the bill, gottta get those tips right! read more

The wait is way too long for average good. They do not cook with fresh ingredients. The shrimp taste frozen and the oysters on halfshells did not have that fresh ouster taste. Stopped here on a whim while traveling through on a road trip. By 4:20 it was already packed from a 4:00 opening. Fortunately we were greeted by courteous staff and got right in.
