Usually, our go-to pick at Dockside is the haddock fish & chips. Today, the fish was limp rather than crisp as we had come to expect. Patience and Reward. I am excited to have this restaurant as my debut review on Yelp. I am not a foodie. I do not get excited about food, I don't treat myself, and I don't find food. Dockside Waterfront Grill had my curiosity at a chokehold when I realized my waitlist line position was at 83rd. I tried two consecutive days and that's when I knew something was worth waiting for. The tiki bar while you wait is rather an exceptional treat with a beautiful view of the boat docks. I am not a local. I know what to order that isn't safe from a restaurant. I know what is safe. The food here from looks and photos were eye catching. I sat down and ordered a corona to gain back a neutral citrus taste. The first course was raw oysters. Adventures but safe. The plate decor was basic, as oysters are mostly all the same prepared. The main course, Shrimp Linguini. You could make this, you could order it from Olive Garden, you could have eaten this from your grandma. But what you COULDN'T have experienced was the powerful garlic wine pasta unless you were there at Dockside Waterfront Grill. The shrimp, noodle, sauce ratio was superb and satisfying even for my two hour wait. I found this shrimp pasta to be different character than the ones served on common dishes. You just can't beat the consistency and variety of the menu! Everything from the perfectly fresh out of the fryer fries to the delicately prepared seafood is wonderful! A great always upbeat vibe from the staff (who calls you by name and proactively refills drinks) to the beautiful waterfront views. We just moved to the area and have been trying different places in the area. Today we decided to go and check out their Happy Hour as we have with other restaurants in the area. The bartender Mary was not very welcoming and we felt like we were an inconvenience to her. I guess because we were just having drinks she didn't seem she wanted to be bothered. When asked for the check, she tossed it at us, no thank you, nothing! We do Happy Hour almost everyday and would of liked to find a new place, but it won't be here! read more

We stopped in for lunch after a morning on the beach in Venice. I had the blackened chicken sandwich which was great and very big. I tried the chips which were house-made and very nice. Our family was visiting from Tampa and had a really wonderful all-around experience here! It was very pretty at night but with all of the little twinkly lights. We sat inside next to a window but the outside tiki area looked great as well. I had the ahi tuna nacho appetizer and it was a great portion for dinner and really delicious! Also, the lobster bisque was incredible. Our server Justin was informative and the perfect amount of attentiveness. Portion sizes were generous. We will definitely be back next time we're in Venice. Service is always a 10/10. We've been here twice while in Florida visiting family. It can get hot and humid, but sitting outside on the patio is spectacular. No matter where you sit on the patio, you have a beautiful view of the water and front row seats watching the birds dive for their food. I ordered the blackened red snapper sandwich with fries and a side salad. My bf ordered the clam chowder (rose style, half white half red) and the blackened red snapper fish tacos. We used to enjoy Dockside, but the experience this time was underwhelming. The service was extremely slow even though they were not all that busy (there was no wait when we arrived around 6:00). The server took our drink orders, but left before we could tell her that we also wanted appetizers. We ordered calamari and grouper bites. They were both just okay. The grouper bites portion was very small. We each got one and there was one left, so five bites total. The calamari portion was better, but they were mostly breading - we've had MUCH better. Two of us ordered crab cakes for our meals and two of us ordered the fresh catch special - unicorn fish. The crab cakes were very small and again, mostly breading. The unicorn fish was good, but nothint special. One thing we all thought was really odd is that the entrees come with your choice of salad or cup of chowder. I asked if I could have lobster bisque instead of the chowder because they are the same price. She said it was a $2 up charge. We questioned that and the manager removed the charge, so that was a positive, but why charge that to begin with? One other thing we didn't care for is when she asked if one of us wanted soup or salad, he said "bowl" of seafood chowder instead of "cup" and she didn't point out that it comes with a cup of soup, but a bowl would be an extra charge. He didn't really want a bowl, he just used the wrong word. She should have clarified it for him, IMO. Our bill was well over $100 and definitely not worth the price. We signed in on the website to be on the wait list. We were seated in the back room by the water and boats in 10 minutes. We loved getting a fresh salad with the meal.
