Food and service both were amazing. We drove from Punta Gorda to see if we could find some good seafood. We have not been able to find any good fresh seafood in Punta Gorda. We were treated and seated promptly. Wait staff very efficient and helpful. Quite a few seafood entrees but also have options for those who do not like seafood. I had fettuccine pasta with grilled salmon. It was delicious. My husband had swordfish which was the catch of the day. He said his was delicious as well. We will definitely make the drive to Venice next time we want seafood while in Punta Gorda. read more

We waited an extremely long time to be seated, probably because this place was where all the elderly people go when they escape the nursing home.. but it was nothing special. It's actually kind of higher priced for the same food I could get at the local dive bar.. we also had a visitor... now I'm from Michigan, and you don't see roaches unless you're in a filth trap in Detroit, so excuse me if roaches in an establishment are normal here in Florida but I wasn't expecting such a thicccc roach chilling on the wall. Anyways food is over rated, it's a high priced dive, you're paying for the view and the roach experience. Side note if anyone is into insect care the roach apparently was injured so plz help it. Idk what else to say I'm highly disappointed with this place. Reviews were good and it looked so promising from the outside. read more

Great food! Good support our local restaurants after hurricanes. They have all worked so hard to come back quickly.

Great tasting food. The seafood was fresh and tasty. Was there midweek but apparently it gets busy during weekends. Parking could be an issue as I parked next door at condos under construction but once they are open I am sure parking will be a premium. Otherwise this is a great place for a great meal. read more

This spot had some outstanding dishes! I got the fish 'n chips and wow was it awesome. The 3 fillets were lightly breaded, golden to perfection, and not too greasy. There's several difference tarter sauces, TRY THEM! The cilantro something sauce was boss. My wife got the shrimp linguine pasta, and I barely got a bit! Our friends had the blackened grouper, and the French dip. The grouper was outstanding, but the dip needed some work. The mushrooms were all picked off before the sandwich was eaten, so thumbs down on the canned shrooms? Only other cons were: How cold the restaurant was towards the boardwalk (evening winter hours). I could feel a very cold draft settling from above. Almost like the AC was on. The air outside the window was warmer than the air from above. The wait was a little on the long side, like every other review on here. 45 min for outdoor at 7pm on a Wednesday, 25/indoor. Also- the snowbirds can get quite rowdy by the bar, so don't get seated there.. LOL So I'm giving 4/5 stars. Definitely coming back, to try more great dishes! read more

First off, this was one of the best seafood meals and (outdoor) settings I've ever had. I had a lobster tail & blackened shrimp combo, and it was superb. The lobster had its white meat miraculously scooped out and easy to eat, but still attached to the tail, pretty. And super delicious, with side dips of warm liquid butter or a cocktail sauce. The shrimp (or other pairings with the lobster) could be prepared in several ways. I got the blackened, delicious, and the shrimp plump enough to enjoy both the shrimp flavor and pepper. Oh, and the seafood chowder, and rice w/black beans, both excellent. Now the other side. I ate with my elderly mom, who was in agony because of the din (I'd say about 105 dB noise leve, approaching pain). This place is huge, and like a freight train with glass windows and flat reflective surfaces, no acoustic panels, and rather like being inside a glass drum. True. Everyone was very loud (to have a conversation) and even the waitress had some problem hearing. And boy was she busy (and so overall, as others say, a bit slow). Mom got grilled scallops, also excellent. Like many others say, around dinner time - and especially sunset - there's a long wait time, helped by pre-checking on via Yelp and with pagers handed out on arrival, along with an ETA. Meanwhile one can have drinks at the little outdoors tiki bar &/or take a drink out by the boats. We did that and I saw a bottleneck dolphin jump nearby as we drank and waited to be called. Pretty setting, no doubt, and that and the great food makes it a bit pricey, but also a treat. IF super-loud is OK. (Some made an art of it). YMMV / yin-yang. read more

Now that I've been to Dockside more than 3 times, I feel I can give a very fair review. The service staff is excellent! Especially a woman we had during our latest (lunch) this past Monday. The portions are enormous always very good. I've had salads, fish, this most recent time I had a huge salad with grilled salmon as an extra on it for 6.99. The piece of salmon was very large. So large in fact, our entire party we're still so full, we never wanted dinner that night. My only wish is that there were more tables completely located in full sun exposure. read more

It had been 3 years dince we were at Fockside do wr stopped in yesterday for lunch and had covina (catch of the day). I had the covina sandwich with their beans and rice and they were excellent. And my husband had the wrap with their house made chips. Both very good. Never having had covina before, we would have it again, definitely. Our waiter, Nick, was great and gave us an accurate review and description of covina that was most helpful in making our selections! Waited for a tiki dining table but found bar seating quickly, stayed there for dinner. We had great service and our food came out hot and delicious! I had the lobster bisque and bacon scallops, I loved them both! My husband had the crab cake and blackened scallops which he loved! The crab cake was chocked full of lump crabmeat and the scallops were cooked to perfection. We will absolutely be back! We love this place!! read more

Ate here tonite with a party of 4. Ambiance was great and food was wonderful. I had the tomato based chowder, a Caesar salad, salmon, corn salad and grilled vegetables. Plus a glass of Cupcake chardonnay. Wife had fish and chips which was more than she could eat. Key lime pie for dessert--Yummy !! Service was friendly and attentive. Yummmmyy food with a gorgeous view of the sunset!! they also had a live band and a plus! its a dog friendly place! its a restaurant that seats are opened outside but we weren't affect too badly by the heat because they had a fan and AC going and at least its covered on top! Our server was super friendly and helpful with suggestions. Combo margarita and mojito with a twist of strawberry is delicious!!! I tried the lobster rolls which gave plenty of lobster for the price! Love the place. They sat our family of 12 quickly and gave great service. Live music was great and not too loud to enjoy conversation around the table. Will go back anytime I can. Service excellent. Food mix excellent. I was excited to eat the crab stack. It sounded better than it tasted though. It was in real need of a complimentary sauce over it. Without a sauce this is 3 or 4 stars max. With the right sauce parring it could be 4 anyway. The crab could have a little lump backfin to make it better but... sorry to say it.
