Every birthday and Father's Day results in me venturing out to a Harley Davidson store/dealer to purchase him a new shirt. Upon entering, I was immediately greeted and offered assistance. The employee took me right to the shirts and helped me select the perfect choice. I felt like I was given the same service making a $30 purchase as I would have received if making a $30,000 purchase. I can't leave less then zero so I had to give 1 star. I took my bike up for a check engine light issue, Took it to them on May14. Called numerous times to see what was going on.... and they said "its a check engine light because its a check engine light being on' !!??!! Then told me it was a short and they were addressing it. THEN.....Told me I hade numerous other things with issues. Told them I would correct some and they could do some. ie. tighten spokes, Adjust drive belt. They did inform me my directional rear tire was on backwards so I told them it would go back to the tire place to correct for free, not the 200+ they quoted me. Told them I had a ride planned for May 30th and they said it would be done. Called again last week to confirm and was told the check engine light stuff was done. Picked it up today ( May 28th) and was advised they did NOTHING!!!!!! 14 Days in the store and nothing!!!! Still the check engine light comes on, which is what I brought it in for originally.... What a horrible way to do business. I will never set foot in here again. Take your business to a local, privately owned shop. BTW.. I had to pay $109.00 for NOTHING done..... read more

I took my Harley Ultra Limited in for a charging issue. I was getting a battery warning light. I had changed the battery and installed a new voltage regulator. I told the service manager and mechanic what I had done. I also wrote on the service order that " that no inspections, checks, or maintenance of any kind to be done except that related to charging issue". I had to rent a U-Haul with a 2 inch ball to bring it in on my ZPro motorcycle trailer. i told them to check the stator first. Hour or two later I was told they did not have the part in stock and could not do it today. That cost me over 100$ for the u-haul rental. when I came the next day I was charged 1300.00 plus. Upon closer examination of the work order I was charged for a voltage regulator. And an unauthorized charge for jiffy stand adjustment. I was 65.00 for a gasket. They "assumed the voltage regulator was bad" without using a multimeter to check it and changed it anyway. Wow! after texting them on the voltage regulator they said I never told them. Yeah ........ right ! Harley had become like the sleasey car dealership we all hate. In their zeal to generate income Harley had become worse. It is beginning to dawn on us that it is no longer fiscally possible to operate a Harley motorcycle. A woke company whose pursuit of profit had thrown their customer base by the roadside. I took my bike here for service because 2 lights were on. It's a new bike still under warranty less than 5k miles. I got it back with nothing having been done, and now the transmission feels stiff like somebody was joy riding it. The workers do not care about your things or your time. I had to call them to see if my bike was ready because I hadn't heard anything from them. I waited nearly two hours at the dealer after having called ahead just to pick up my bike. I'm going to gateway for my new purchases and service from now on. Terrible all around experience. read more

Service staff and the clothing staff are awesome very knowledgeable straight to the point. Although the parts guys were not able to help with my exact needs they were able to help me in a timely manner with what information they could provide. The sales staff is a different story, the younger/newer salesman (Lou ) was trying to help me with figuring out the bracket system on a new pan America I was looking to add to my collection however when he and I were not able to figure it out he reached out to the other staff who told him to basically kick rocks, and talk to a senior salesman. So instead of simply answering they wasted 30 minutes of my time with a run around of not finding the answer. Thank you to the young man who was trying his best to help me, however I cannot recommend this place for anything except service due to what happened today. read more

I want to warn HD people who might want to use Doc's Harley Daivdson service department at 930 South Kirkwood Road, St Louis, MO. My husband was having problems with his bike, he changed the voltage regulator and battery, didn't fix problem. He figured out that the problem was with the stator. He made an appointment at Doc's, explained what he had done and what he decided was the problem. When he took the bike to Doc's, he explained again what he had done and what he thought the problem was including the new parts that he had installed. He also discussed this with the mechanic. When he picked up the bike, they had replaced the stator plus the 2 parts that he had replaced and charged him for these parts. My husband had not received any phone calls asking permission to replace theses new parts. When he discussed this with the service manager, he agreed to refund the money for the unnecessary replacements which he did. One day later he recharged our account. Doc's is a terrible HD franchise. read more

Best dealership around! My husband has been riding for a while but needed some service work done so we took his Street Glide in to Doc's. Service team was thurough and made sure we knew everything they planned to do. I ended up finding a Freewheeler and was back and forth on if I should buy it. Salesman don't tell you to go home a take a few days to think it over. But the team at Doc's had no concerns about telling me not to make an impulsive decision. They answered a million questions and everyone we worked with was absolutely amazing! There was no pressure, just information and lots of laughs. Needless to say, I bought the bike. My only regret is not doing it sooner. Doc's is hands down the best team around and I can't wait to have a chance to stop back in and say hello. read more

When visiting the dealership, everyone is nice and helpful, until you actually "fall in love " with a used bike. Then the high pressure kicks in. You tell them how much you want to pay monthly, and they convince you you can go higher. They flash you the price the bike listed for new, so they can cut you a deal. Your "deal" is still 30-40% over book value. Then harley financial locks you in for 6 years, but you can refinance. Sure you can, lower interest with a higher payment. All the while your credit score drops, and after over $4000 in down payment and monthly payments you owe more than what your "deal" of a price was. I now understand why people call them "stealerships". read more

This place is horrible!! I had the 5k service done on my bike. That includes a clutch adjustment and the 3 hole fill. When I got my bike back the clutch cable had a splice in the cable, my bike is leaking transmission fluid, and I take it back up there just for the technician to say he didn't mess with any of the issues that I was having now. The shop called me to tell me that I needed the brake fluid flushed and the master cylinder rebuilt also which I had them do because I wanted a sound bike. I was charged over $800 just to have a bike that leaks transmission fluid now and I've got to figure out what the problem is. Complete bullshit. I will not be returning for anything!!! read more

I have been to every Harley dealer in the bi-state area, and in my mind, Doc's is hands down the best! So where do I start? Two years ago I decided to trade my 2003 Softail Heritage Classic in on a new Tri-Glide Ultra. The sales experience was one of the best vehicle purchase experiences I've ever had! Not only did Doc's give me an exceptional price on my trade-in ($2K over Blue Book), but they gave me an extra grand for being a retired USAF vet! They threw in a few extras on top, resulting in an exceptional deal! The parts shop is awesome! They have a parts availability guarantee, that basically states if you need a part (does not include special order parts), and they don't have it in stock, they'll order the part for you, and give you a 15% discount on the price! The parts staff is the best! Helpful, patient, and willing to take the time to get your parts purchase correct! The service team is second to none! They schedule your bike and deliver it as promised. Always! The techs are all HD-certified mechanics! They care for your scoot as though it was their own! They are one of the few dealerships in the area that offer full dyna-tune service. Unlike most dealerships in the area, when they deliver your bike back to you, they give a flu service cleaning and rapid detail! I come from Illinois to get my bike serviced here. That obviously means tons of road dirt and bugs when I turn it in! They have never returned my bike to me dirty! On the motor clothes side of the house, the staff here is the best! They offer everything in the realm... leather, shirts, female apparel, helmets, boots, eyewear, and the full line of H-D gifts and accessories! Jon, the manager, goes the full distance to ensure customer satisfaction. They're great about returns, and their rewards program keeps loyal customers coming back! Finally the front staff... first, Doc's has been in business for over 55 years! The ownership has passed across many hands of the original family members, and after several years, ownership was taken over in 1998 by Patty Bush, younger daughter of the original owner. Patty saved Doc's from the brink of disaster, preventing Harley-Davidson from closing the dealership. I was a loyal customer for over 20 years. When my bike needed new brakes I was told, "we only work on evo's during the winter." WTF! It was explained that the NEW owners will not perform ANY maintenance - service - ANYTHING on a Harley with an evolution engine during riding season. A Harley dealership that refuses to touch a Harley - that was coincidentally purchased there?? Unbelievable. Not the sort of thing they want to advertise either as there are no signs in the place indicating their stance against evo owners. Tells me everything I want to know about the new owners. I'll never step foot in that place again. They have lost a loyal customer. Makes me miss Ralph even more, the original Doc's owner. I will now ride 32 miles out of my way to bring service to St. Charles HD. They recognize the importance of establishing and maintaining a loyal customer base. Forget these new owners at Doc's; this place is not what it used to be. Also, disregard the other reviews posted - they were made when Doc's daughter ran the place - it was a nice place then. I second what Rick G. said about the new owners. I took my 2008 105th Anniversary Ultra in for its 45,000 mile service a couple of months ago. It also needed 2 new tires, but since I have tires for life since I bought it there and have had all service done there, I figured no problem. Well, the new owners refused to honor the Tires for Life program, and I wasn't told until I picked up the bike. The bill for everything was over $1,200. Unacceptable, but I paid it because I had no choice. Today I went in to maybe trade in my Ultra for a Road Glide. I wanted to take a used one out for an hour or so to see if I liked it. They had a used one, so I started suiting up while the salesman copied my license. When he returned he said they have a standard ten mile test drive I'd have to follow with him in the lead. I asked if we'd at least be going on the nearby highway and he said no. So then I said I'll pass on the test ride but I'd like to rent an RG for the day. I was told that Doc's no longer rents bikes. I said good bye. I will most likely not be back. Looks like the new owners aren't loyal to me, so I won't be being loyal to them. St. Charles has RG 's to rent, and I'll be going there for all my motorcycling needs, including the 50K service if I decide not to trade mine in. read more

I called around the STL area for a rear tire swap on my UltraGlide. I started with Doc's and got the highest quote I have ever gotten. $450!! $300 for the tire and $150 labor. I called St Charles H-D and got a much more realistic quote of $267 installed...actually that is even less than I would have expected. I will be cancelling one appointment and taking the other. On the plus side, the store does look good inside and out and the people working have been decent enough. I'm just not too keen on paying that much for 1 tire swap and you don't have the option of bringing in your own tire. read more

I recently got into a Harley and decided it was time to find an "offline" supplier for convenience and to support some local businesses. The staff at Doc's was wonderful. I received a pair of Harley Davidson earrings for my birthday which were ordered from the Harley Davidson online store. They charged $9.95 in shipping for a 1oz package containing a pair of $30 earrings. The package arrived with no special packing and the earring posts were smashed and unwearable. The receipt with the package listed Docs Harley Davidson as the dealer as my mother lives in the St. Louis area. I do not know their internal workings nor who shipped them as I am the receiving customer. I contacted the customer service number on the paperwork and explained that I received my gift smashed and poorly packaged and would like them to please ship me a new pair and I would return the damaged pair. Their protocol is to have the receiving customer fill out a return, print a label, and drive to a UPS drop off to return their damaged product AND THEN have the purchasing customer (my mom) wait to receive her refund and then reorder, pay, and ship a new pair to me. So, two customers are ridiculously inconvenienced over a pair of $30 earrings that she was charged $9.95 to ship and was poorly packaged by Harley Davidson. I explained to them that none of this was their customers fault and I would be happy to fill out the return, print the shipping label, and drop off the package and once they received the shipping notification they could send out the replacement product. They would not budge and told me to contact the dealer listed on my receipt or follow their protocol. I sent an email to Docs Harley Davidson explaining our VERY POOR customer service experience and that they were listed as the dealer ON THE RECEIPT. The owner called me personally in less than one business day. I explained the situation and told her that I really just wanted the earrings replaced without having to jump through hoops over their mistake. She was very understanding but explained that they had nothing to do with the online store. However, she said that she would call Harley Davidson online store and make it right personally. As a customer, I don't need to know how they work internally, I just want an undamaged product without a complete hassle! I returned the earrings that same day. My mother received an email that a credit is coming... I NEVER heard from anyone at Harley Davidson's online store NOR Docs again. Today is 10/11 and I received the package on 9/28 and spoke with the owner of Docs Harley Davidson on 9/29 when I mailed back the earrings. NO Follow up, NO customer service, HUGE disappointment. I will add that I live in South Florida and just purchased a 2017 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic this May (not from Docs/in South Florida) which is our 2nd Harley Davidson. What a poor representation of customer service over a $30 pair of earrings from a long-time Harley customer and rider. Very disappointing. read more
