Getting my smog checked certified by a professional! Doctor smog

It's the @light_skin_dragon blasting off making sure the air quality is good because of all the smog out here getting my car checked! Shawn and Raphael are amazing. They helped me out a lot. I came in because a few years ago they sent me a $10.00 coupon and so I was like yeah I'm going back since my registration is due this month. The price it self for a certified smog check was 98.00. Took it down to 88.00. Then I asked if they have military discount and so he applied another 10 off. I really appreciate the work they did. I was mainly talking to Shawn while Raphael was working on the smog check. Hands down this has been the best place for a smog check that I have came to! I highly recommend going for loyal service and they have complimentary drinks and snacks. The customer service was beyond exceptional. I'm telling everyone to come here and say Cedrick sent you! Parking is at the gas station so plenty of parking.

I will never complain about quick, friendly service and that's what I got here. I pulled up and there was no wait so I was in and out. When I got the dreaded smog check notice, I started to look around for options. When I saw the glowing reviews of Dr. Smog, I figured it was the best option. That was an understatement! This place was fantastic! I came on a Monday afternoon. The whole process took around 45 minutes. The owner was extremely apologetic saying his 2nd guy wasn't in that day. I appreciated it & truthfully told him I didn't mind. When it came to payment, he asked me how I would like to pay & I thought he jokingly said "IOU." Turns out he wasn't kidding because everyone falls on tough times. He said "humanity over money" and that just blew me away. I've never had a business owner tell me something like that. Especially one whom I had just met. He earned a customer for life and I will be sure to tell anyone willing to listen how he is the only person they should ever go to for their smog checks. read more

I recently had my engine replaced through my warranty for my Hyundai Tucson the car was ready the day my registration was going to expire and I needed a smog before registering the vehicle. I came to Doctor Smog and was greeted by a gentleman who said he could do it within 15 minutes and he gave me the paperwork after I said great go ahead and do it. He did his thing and he had entered in my information from my car for the DMV. Then when it came to pay at the counter, I used the $15 off check-in offer and it lowered my bill to $83 which was the amount the dealer was going to charge me anyways. The service was quick. The guy working there did the job with smile on his face and he made it easy for me. And then I was done. He told me to wait an hour or two before registering the vehicle because it takes time to get into the DMV system. I would definitely recommend anybody who needs a smog certified technician to do a smog so they can register their vehicle to do it here at Doctor Smog which is attached to the Chevron station gas station on the corner of Reseda and Roscoe Boulevard in Northridge California. read more

Dr Smog was awesome. I googled a smog check location, and this was the first to immediately pop up. I didn't realize the cost of a smog check, but upon looking up the coupon offer, the gentlemen here honored the deal, and I can honestly say it is definitely worth coming here for the check. The two gentlemen here were very helpful and extremely polite. I was offered free water or a beverage of choice and I am thankful for all their help. I've been going here for at least 10 years and both guys have always been friendly and upfront about the cost. I recently had work done for the check engine light and went here after the mechanic. Everything was good but it didn't pass due to the recent work. I was advised to drive about 75 miles including on the highway, it passed with a free retest. read more

After going to Doctor Smog for years, I went to Sherman Smog Check on Sherman Way and found the people to be professional, the facility was comfortable and clean and rather than $85 they charged $50. A much better experience. read more

Established in 2003.

Shawn's been in the automotive industry repairing cars and performing smog checks for over 30 years and is an ASE Certified auto mechanic. After being an employee for a mechanic shop for several years, Shawn decided he wanted to open his own smog check station and did so in 2003 and called it Doctor Smog. Most of the local mechanic shops in the Northridge/Reseda area trust their customers to Shawn at Doctor Smog because of his level of professionalism and respect towards his customers. Students from CSUN as well as customers from Northridge, Porter Ranch, Granada Hills, Canoga Park, Tarzana, Encino, Lake Balboa, and all over the San Fernando valley come to Doctor Smog to get their vehicle smog checked. Doctor Smog is a Star-Certified Smog Check Station and offers a free retest, if your car doesn't pass the first time around.

Meet the Business Owner: Shawn H.

Shawn comes from a family of mechanics. Raised in Southern California Shawn's been interested in fast cars and motorcycles since his early childhood. His first car was a '67 Camaro which he wrenched on day and night. In 1993 he received his ASE certification and began his career. Cars are his passion and it shows.

I believe I paid $55 with the credit card fee included but the gentleman working here was really sweet when I spoke to him on the phone which is why I ended up coming here. This smog check location is right behind a Shell gas station and I might have been lucky because there was nobody there and I was able to drive right up for service. It took no more than 10 minutes and explained the entire process to me. He was even sweet enough to check why my gear icon was on, and I thought that was such a nice gesture that he didn't even need to do, which is why I felt compelled to write a really good review for this location! I had an excellent experience at Dr. Smog and highly recommend them to anyone needing a smog check. From the moment I walked in, I was treated with kindness and respect. Shawn was incredibly friendly, made jokes to keep things light, and even offered cold water and refreshments while I waited. Customer service like that is hard to find these days. While their advertised price may be slightly higher than some competitors, what I appreciated most was their honesty and transparency. They gave me an upfront, out-the-door price with no hidden fees or surprise charges. Before coming here, I visited two other smog shops that advertised lower prices, but once I arrived, the final cost was nearly double what was advertised after all the extra fees were added. The staff here is super friendly and truly care about helping customers. I've taken multiple vehicles to them just because I like supporting businesses like this who don't take advantage of people and are just straight up honest and hard working individuals. My moms car was a used purchase and it required a smog check by DMV before I could get it registered and I was in and out of there in less than 20 minutes. Brought my car into get it smog-ed at Doctor Smog. It failed the15 mph test . I took it home put in a new set of plugs, air cleaner, and added a bottle of CRC G2P ran the tank a gas through it, Filled up a new tank of gas and got the FREE retest . I drove right up and it took only 15 minutes to get smogged. They offered drinks and snacks while I waited. The best thing is that they are open on Sundays! read more

I needed a smog check I was out in less then 8 minutes and after calling around to several other places I felt $58 was a fair price..
