The place looks unassuming from the outside so the kids were a bit concerned but we like to find those hole in the wall places with good food. Place was packed on a rainy Sunday afternoon which is always a good sign. I had the Étouffée and it was the best that I have had outside of Louisiana. It had a good tang but not over spicy. We go to Doe Belly's, on average, once a week. If you don't want a little Cajun spice in the crust of your catfish, just tell them. They've recently expanded. This stuff is very good!!! The people who work there are very nice! read more

its been a while since i visited this place....the fried fish and the fired shrimp were BOTH over cooked ...the part of the fried catfish that was edible tasted good but like the shrimp it was WAY over cooked ....the fried shrimp were chewy / rubbery as F%$k and the 3 catfish fillets were fried to the point that the only edible part was in the very middle of the fillet..the ends were rock hard [over cooked] ....the chick at the counter who waited [was on the phone the whole time/while we made our order] on us got our order wrong [even though i was clear with what we wanted] an it cost us an extra 7 or 8 $ [didnt notice till we got home or i would have adress'd it while we were there]....this place isn't nearly as good as it used to be ! read more

I went to this restaurant today and the food was okay. No, WoW factor. I would not drive out of my way to come here, but the price is reasonable and if I was in the neighborhood I would check them out. I definitely have had better, I expected more, I guess. I had the grilled shrimp...first there were only 6 small shrimp they had to much seasoning, the salad reminded me of a salad you'd get from a school cafeteria and a small corn on the cob. We ate here for the first time last night and it was a hit!! We had fried catfish, fried shrimp, fried okra and dirty rice. Our kiddos had chicken tenders and liked them. The seasoning on the catfish is awesome!! And my husband and I both thought the dirty rice was delish. Really the only complaint I have was that the shrimp was on the small side. I've been here a few times. I've had a whole lot of catfish, but theirs is, by far, the best I've ever had. Nothing to complain about here. The catfish is not greasy, and the shrimp is buttermilk breaded. The seasoning is perfect. The only complaint that I have is I wished they would get a bigger seating area. This food is phenomenal! I would give them the full five stars, but they take FOREVER to get your order out. We will call ahead to place our order, wait 30 minutes then head over there to pick it up. Luckily, the catfish is worth the wait. They recently renovated and have a whole second dining area which is nice because it was super crowded before. They offer one of the only outdoor patios for dining in Forney which is another plus. I definitely recommend this place to others. Just be sure to call in your order ahead of time, or be prepared to wait. read more

This place is awesome. We get one of their family meals with cat fish, shrimp, chicken fingers, etc. the fish is well seasoned and cooked perfectly. This place is amazing. It's built into an old Sonic Drive-In that has been many things over the past years. I DO hope Doe Belly's stays. The gumbo is FANTASTIC with all types of meats inside. This is a no frills place that is all about the food. Catfish fillets were seasoned & breaded perfectly, cooked just to the done point w/o any greasy residue. Served so hot I nearly burned my tongue on the first bite. I had the combo special with four fried shrimp, also cooked just till done.
