Best steak I've ever had. I am proud to have this kind of restaurant in the area. The food never disappoints and the atmosphere is laid back compared to other "fancy" restaurants in town. One of my childhood favorites. I mean this fully that this steak is the best you will get in the area hands down. The ribeye is big and so flavorful. This place has a nice rustic feel that resembles downtown Paducah. Forgot to mention they have the best French fries I've had in my life. Yeah it's no joke. We went on Sunday to eat before the show . This time we wanted steaks. I have to say it was the best steak I've had in years. It was lime melt in your mouth tender and juicy. The only thing I can say negative was two things bothered me. 1. I got the salad with their house dressing which was very tasty but way too much on the salad. My salad was drenched in it. Also they should add a few crunchy croutons to the salad . Just my opinion and will order dressing on side next time. 2. Waiter kept saying he did bring our bread but he never did. We had a wonderful meal started with their tamales for our appetizer We had beer and wine to drink! I ordered chicken with spaghetti which i liked alot! The bread was very good, bakery toasted. We had house salad and I had house dressing, lemon garlic! I bought a bottle to bring home! My husband had shrimp, liked it very much! We had Charlie for our waitress, very cordial and accommodating, we enjoyed our visit to Doe's very much! We will definitely recommend and hope to visit again! read more

This place looks the part, but the cuts of meat and grill quality are very inconsistent. The service and beer section were great, but the centerpiece (steak) fell short on both of my visits to this Doe's. For the price, I would not visit this steakhouse again. Great Service. Excellent Food... cocktails are strong and yummy! One drink is all I needed! LOL. Great place for dinner after work. I had the hot tamales and chili with a lemon drop martini. Catfish and steak fries to go for later. (I'm traveling) the tamales are very filling. Truth be told... I'm not a fan of tamales but with the chili cheese and sour cream!!! I'm sold! LOL!! The lemon drop martini was tasty strong and not too sweet. I usually do the Porterhouse at the Doe's location in Little Rock but decided to go out on a limb and do something new here in Paducah. All that said... i had more than enough food, I'm quite pleased, and my total is $45.47. Wow!!! I'm a happy camper. Appetizer, cocktail and dinner and well below my dinner work budget. WoooHoooo!!! My second time eating at Doe's was no better than the first time. The steak was oily and lacked seasoning. The salad was basic iceberg lettuce and very little toppings. For as much money as you pay, I would expect the place to look better. The tables are old and scratched up. The concrete flooring looks dirty. The place just looks filthy all over. I can't imagine what the kitchen must look like. Often when walking by, the staff is on the sidewalk smoking, and there is trash outside the side employee entrance. Skip this place and go to Stella's, Max's, or Cynthia's. read more

After waiting one hour actually it was a little over an hour, for someone to recognize that we were there I was astonished by the waitresses demeanor. when o informed her of my long wait to be even approached,,, sh or much less,served, she was quick to respond with an invitation to leave the restaurant. We were here on a Sunday and only arrived at our (nearby) hotel after 5:30 p.m. We walked over to the downtown area and scoped out some restaurants and ended up eating here. On the plus side, they are open on Sundays. They currently require masks to enter but then you of course don't wear them while dining. I'm guessing they have a 'limited menu' for COVID-times. My guess would be that they offered a wider variety 6+ months ago. Everyone was able to find something to their taste. I finished my pasta, though my daughter had appreciable leavings (to be fair, it was her first time trying Mahi Mahi, and I think it just generally wasn't to her liking). Wine and beer menu was somewhat limited; no full bar (I think). Prices seemed a bit higher than I would have expected. I assume this would be on the higher end of Paducah dining establishments, so plan accordingly. We were not really looking for a 'fancy' meal out, just something satisfying after a long day of driving. If I were here in more normal circumstances and wanted to go higher end, I'd consider this place. OTOH, if you just want something more mid-range, you might want to check on other options. read more

The location is convenient to downtown attractions. We were seated quickly and service was fine. Food at a sit-down restaurant in the same town that has Cynthia's and Freight House should not be this expensive and this bad. The menu is limited. Food was bland; everything was either undercooked or overcooked. Portion sizes made no sense except that you obviously got plenty of the starchy filler ingredients and not so much of what you thought you were paying for. Big pile of soggy white rice; tiny piece of mahi mahi! How do you mess up bread? Whatever oil they spread on the thinly sliced, overtoasted white bread they served with our meal tasted like it had gone over a little-- not quite rancid but headed that direction. If you're in Paducah on a Monday, disappointed that the best restaurants are closed, and looking for a comparable dining experience-- this is not it. Go to McD's or something. read more

First time here. Good service, but pricing, which is substantial, did not reflect quality vs. what could have been had at another restaurant. Ambiance is ho-hum at best. Food was also ok at best. Not terrible but not I don't see a reason to return. read more

Ordered a $60 ribeye, medium rare. It was way over cooked, the majority was slightly pink, some parts gray. It was hard to the touch, hard to cut, and hard to chew. It tasted dry. TWO employees said it looked perfect. Out of all the steakhouses I've been to, this is hands down the worst steak I've had. The service was just as bad. The waitress was never around. Never checked on us. Never refilled our drinks. There were only three other tables full in our room. When we ordered, she didn't write down what we ordered, and had to come back to us ten minutes later to confirm with us what we ordered. Don't waste your money or time with this place. read more

We eat at Does in Little Rock all the time. This one was a big disappointment. Steak was ok not the salad. Service was pathetic.

Last night we had the two pound t-bone steak for 2 people. The steak was cooked perfect and was enough to take home half. We had the tamale with chili because they were highly recommended an we agree they are outstanding. The side salad was large with great blue cheese dressing. The steamed vegetables were flavorful. The restaurant is nice but casual in downtown Paducah. The place was noisy probably because of all the prom kids however it was nice to see them. The service was excellent read more

This Doe's doesn't not fully compare to the Original in Greenville, MS. Just missing it! The same family may own this one, but they are not delivering with the service or the food! Who is running this location? Our female server who was named Charlie - found that on our receipt - since she never told us her name. A blonde gal with a nose ring. She left us sitting at our table for over 10 minutes with our menus closed waiting to order. She started off real bad, was not very attentive the rest of the night and was not interested in trying to catch up! 2 others servers were following in her foot steps! This taller heavy-set gal that was real loud and just messed up. Glad we did not get her. Then, there is this young guy with black hair that was later presented as the "Manager" but clearly was not when the staff could not find the Real Manager! After our meal I tried to inform the Real Manager of the poor food experience and it was clear the flunky they threw in as the "Manager" had no clue about what was missing in this meal compared to the Greenville location! I had seen this guy working as a server when we came in to be seated. He was talking about his Dolly Parton tattoo on his leg with a Co-worker. These two "servers" need to pursue other opportunities outside the company! Yet, we saw other servers hustling and bustling. A hard working bald guy that strangely stooped down to near table height when he took an order. Yet, he was hitting his tables and working them. Plus, a petite gal with straight black hair who was working her tables out front and still found time to come by and refill our teas. Something I had to ask for from Charlie! These 2 need "Atta Boys" and a bump in pay! They know how to work and deliver for the patron and the restaurant! Now to the food. The 3 Tamales and Chili for an appetizer were just great. The Salads with the House Dressing was the tangy, salty goodness we had in Greenville. The Steak was so incredibly good with the delicious Drippings! Hitting it on all the MARKS! The Fries, however, were quite a disappointment! They were good. Yet, we were not paying for good. These were NOT the big honking planks we got in Greenville. Those in Greenville were crispy, piping hot right out of the cast iron skillet. The ones in Paducah were like the ones you can get at a Penn Station Sub location. I would have actually liked having Penn Station's to use to dip in the excess Salad Dressing or the Drippings! They would have been better than what was delivered Friday! Then, there was the Bread! What is this thin slice of nearly sandwich-sized loaf bread on the plate? Seriously, I am going to use that to sop up the excess Salad Dressing or Steak Drippings goodness with this? Not the bread style or thickness of the Greenville location! See the posted pictures. There is a very distinct difference in the Quality and Character of the two dinners! Update: we came back to this Doe's three years later to find a changed restaurant. The server was surly and the atmosphere seemed exhausted. Was the food still tasty? Yes. And our cocktails were well-mixed, even though neither one came with the garnishes that were described in the menu (there was no jalapeño on the jalapeño watermelon margarita, and the olives in the dirty martini had been down-graded from blue cheese olives). But really the worst part was the server, who could not even muster the basics of courtesy and dropped our food on the table with a sloshing thunk each time. We felt like we were being punished for even asking about the steak salad that was so good last time it has become part of our family lore .... But in the years that have passed we had forgotten it was only a lunch dish. Our advice is to study the menu ahead of time so maybe you have a better experience. read more

From what I understood, this is THE place for steak. I have only ever been in for some after-drinks cheesecake (which is fabulous btw). Tonight was our wedding anniversary so we decided to splurge on their $$$ steak. We had the tamale appetizer, which were very good. Me and hubby split the porterhouse steak and fries, ordered as medium rare like God intended. After about 40 minutes the steak came out huge and beautiful but as soon as my knife touched its incredibly soft surface I knew something was wrong. The steak was cooked rare-blue rare. I know you can't get a complete even cook on a bone in steak that size... but... I thought to myself ..."this is a $$$$ steak in THE restaurant for steak and they don't understand medium rare"... surely not. Hubby actually likes his a little more rare, so I cut a quarter of the steak and sent it back to the kitchen. Hubby was diving into his share when the rare quickly showed its ultra rare. Literally looked like someone put it on the grill, counted to 10, flipped and sent it out. Off that goes the rest of the steak to the kitchen. We dig into the fries, fresh cut and well salted Back comes my steak in a big puddle. Borderline rare, but a big improvement. Hubby steak comes back the same, At this point a floor manager (?) has apologized and gave hubby a free t-shirt So we're digging in and next thing you know we're trimming off big lines of fat and gristle from the borders of the steak. What's that you ask? Did THE steak house not only have trouble cooking a medium rare steak, but also leave me to trimming my own steak? Why yes. Yes they did. Meat itself was well seasoned and tasted like a $$ steak. All in all, my idea that Doe's is THE place for steak has been shook. Management was apologetic and they even comped the dessert ..which is why I give a star for effort, bringing it to 3. But they should really be ashamed for what they did to that piece of meat Will be back for cheesecake, not the steak. read more

Family members visited from out of town so we made a day of it downtown. Our first stop was lunch at Doe's Eat Place. This restaurant NEVER disappoints!!! I was excited to try this after ready all the wonderful reviews, but was honestly disappointed. Had reservations at 6:30. Were finally seated a bit after 7? Party of 2... why make a reservation or it should be called a place holder. So ordered the rib-eye for 2 to split. Literally 1/2 the steak was fat. The kitchen should never have let it be served like that. So cut the steak in half as my friend who wanted hers a little more done than mine. PS: took another 30 minutes to get the steak. When I finally carved out the fat from my 1/2, I would guess I ended up with about 6 ozs. The steak that was later delivered back to my friend did not look at ALL like what was sent back, so the kitchen did her a favor. It was bigger, thicker and although still had a little fat, was nothing like my half. I would recommend ordering a filet and IF I go back, I will. For $48, I did expect more than 6 ozs. We were offered deserts to make up for it as there was some excuse that they did not have computer access to adjust the bill?! Ok- then the comment was, " well ya'll are getting about $24 worth of desert". Ok again but didn't come for the desert, which costs them probably $5. It was not the servers fault and I know every restaurant has a bad night, but the kitchen DEFINITELY had something off. Not sure it's worth the $$ or the time. We finally got out of there close to 9, when if the reservation was honored, should have been out the door by 8. Ya'll need to fix whatever the heck was going on! read more

Scramble to find a restaurant open on Monday and found Doe's. Our server was good - friendly and never acted like we were putting him out. Didn't have catfish so went with chicken tenders and fries - was a bit overdone but not worth sending back. My wife got the vegetables as her side and thought they were overcooked. Stopped in for lunch was recommended from another retailer down the street. She said they were known for steaks. Upon getting a menu I was pleased to see that they had something called Southern tamales and decided that's what I was going to try. Along with a steak sandwich. Unfortunately the hostess which was the only brights but said they were not yet making the tamales on the menu but they did have a tamale dip. I told her I would try the dip and the steak sandwich. The dip came out first looking and tasting a lot like Hormel chili mixed with refried beans. Although the tamales were billed as spicy this concoction was anything but border lining on Gross and covered with cheese it had very little flavor. Most of the chips were over cooked as well but properly salted. I had asked for my steak sandwich to be medium figuring if they were known for steak they could do it well and if they aired a little bit I'd still get a nice cut of steak with some pink. However well done is what I got the steak was so tough I had to pull it off the sandwich and cut it up with a knife to eat it. The final kicker was although I got the dip I was charged for a full order of tamales with chili and at $11 it was just a total rip-off. Arguably it was so nasty that asking $5 for a dip might have been too much. Maybe they have other better things but they're two signature items we're not good. If the waitress wasn't so pleasant they they got a solid one star. Avoid. read more

This place is a gem! A great location in downtown Paducah with a really cool atmosphere. Brick walls, raw floors and cool waitstaff. I like a menu that focuses on a few good things done well. Appetizer of tamales and chili is a must! As a tamale novice, I wasn't sure how I'd feel about them. They're great! Flavorful meat filling surrounded by creamy - um, corny, creamy tamale outside. What is that stuff called? Chili was good, too! Spicy, thick and a lil sweet. The steaks - OH THE STEAKS! Really good quality meat, not heavily seasoned. The nice beefy taste really prevails. Ours were cooked PERFECTLY. My hubs ordered the 3 lb steak for himself! I had the ribeye still HUGE at around 17 ounces. Plenty for two. Fries are hand cut and served hot and crispy. A great surprise! House salad dressing is great and the iceberg salad was fresh and crisp. Most dressings made in house. Skip the veggie medley, it's pretty pedestrian. Have more fries. read more
