I get my car washed in Temecula and when I do, I make it a point to stop to eat at one of our favorites in the area. This is at the top of our spits. A good variety of different dogs, burgers and fries are served. Very good and they have crafted sodas, very partial to the root beer. You will want to try all of them. I last had the cowboy dog and a plain mustard dog. I shared some chili fries my son ordered which he had combined with a root beer float and chili fries. This restaurant does not keep posted hours: I went here at 7:30pm on a non-holiday, rando Thursday evening. I had thought it was pet grooming. Anyway, my co-worker recommended it. He said they closed at 9. the door had a printed sign taped up saying 8 pm. So, being only 7:30, I walked inside to be turned away by staff who stated, "sorry, we took our last to go order". We picked up a bottle of root beer at a convenience store in Vegas. It was so good, that I went online to see where I could buy more. We found that it was an actual restaurant in Temecula. We took the drive from Chula Vista, and O...M...G the food was DELICIOUS!!! The owner Tito was very welcoming and full of personality. It was hard to choose what to order because everything he described, he did with so much enthusiasm. The cherry on top was the free refills of the yummy root beer. The service was excellent. Guy was really patient and even gave us a little backstory of where they came from and all that. Eagerly gave us a discount even when we didn't know it was a thing. Really interesting selection of food and tasted great. Absolutely recommend getting a soda. Wish they came in larger sizes but that's just how it is. My stomach could never be big enough to try their entire menu but I wish it was. Inside looks like an old diner. Really kind of cozy. Wish it was a little bigger but gives a real small town feel to it. Feel like the only reason it isn't getting a whole lot of people coming in is because its tucked away in a corner. Really weird experience here today. Haven't been there in awhile and decided to try it again. Ordered a Chicago Dog and Italian Beef. Waited for something like 30 minutes for the order and the girl at the front didn't say anything to me as I paced back and forth waiting patiently for the order. I finally asked what is going on and she acted like she didn't remember me having ordered anything. Then went to kitchen to check and said something like "oh I thought you had left". Thought I had left? I have been there the whole time conspicuously. I honestly am confused, like did I die and become a ghost or something? Was I rattling chains and going WOOOOOO. So weird. She wasn't mean or anything, i was just baffled how she didn't somehow see me there waiting for a half hour like I wasn't even there. Upon actually eating the food, the Chicago dog was okay and fairly authentic, though the quality of the weiner was suspect. It seemed to be a bit better when I had it when they opened, maybe using a different dog or something? It was decent, but the Italian beef was crazy dry, like hard to swallow dry. Worst I've had. I see from other pictures it was probably supposed to include an au jus for dippers, but they didn't give me that and didn't put any gravy/au jus on the sandwich itself. So maybe this isn't how they normally make it, but it's how they gave it to me. This place really feels like a mom and pop place without restaurant experience trying to do well, but having no idea how to. Just super unprofessional. I think I'd rather just drive to Moreno Valley and get Portillos if I have a Chicago craving. read more

When I was kid in Ohio, Dog n Suds was mostly gone. But they did still sell the root beer at the local convenience stores, and I drank a ton of it as a kid. That was the 90's and I'm 42 now. My wife and were recently in old town Temecula. We were just driving down the road, and I saw the Dog n Suds sign. Pulled right in, searched it on Google (for legitimacy), discovered it's a legit Dog n Suds, and a 30-year dream to actually eat the food was about to come true. It didn't disappoint. I went with a classic. Chili cheese dog. Perfection. My wife had the elote dog, and it was pretty epic. Of course we had the root beer as well. I hadn't had it in almost 25 years, and it was better than I remember, and I bought a case of it to go. The staff was friendly, helpful, and they were happy that I remembered it from my childhood. I'm sad. My second time here. I so want this place to make it. It's a good idea...Just wrong in so many ways. First time we went, the owner was there. Great sales guy. Got us excited. Ordered and then we waited...and waited... and waited. About 30 minutes. In that time both business partners were eating right out on the floor in front of us, or standing around, and there was just a scant few customers there the whole time. The food was served, took one bite and it was all cold. The Chili dog, my wife's dog, the french fries and all. Sent it back. Another 10 minutes go by and we got hot food. It was alright. Not fantastic. Served on grilled bread, not a bun. The Chili fries had about a tablespoon of chili (or so it seemed) (Visit The Hat if you want chili fries!!). On the way out owner told us that they had found a bee hive on the premises, and the cook was allergic so they sent him home while they dealt with that. So we gave the wait and cold food a pass. 5/18/22 we gave it another try. Two other tables in the place being served. We ordered and waited about 15 minutes for the food. It was cold. When I told the girl who sat it down she said "COLD"???? I don't know if she was shocked or pissed off but it was awkward. I said, well... lukewarm, how's that? She asked me if I wanted her to remake it or heat it... I said I just want hot food. She took mine and my wifes and off she went. Another five minutes and or food comes back. We kept the cold fries. Doges were obviously nuked, as they were the temperature of the sun. Bread now soggy, with the chili it fell apart and I had to eat with a fork. Chili fries we ate cold, still had a very small amount of chili on them - so I guess they do that on purpose No value. This meal cost us about $30. Not much value either visit, sadly. So... my thoughts... First, the menus are confusing. It takes customers forever to order. There are 4 laminated pages on the counter, one with dogs another with a different kind of dogs, another with fries, it is confusing and unnecessary. Second, The wait. Everyone in the place waited as we did. Entirely too long. Bad comparison, but Weinerschnitzel would have served 30 people in the time it took them to do two. Third, Something is wrong in a kitchen that consistently serves cold food. (Other yelpers have complained as well). Fourth, The much heralded Homemade creamy root beer was flat. And sort of warm since there were two ice cubes in the cup. Sad. Fifth, Price vs value. $7-$9 dogs that are mediocre. At that price make them awesome. If you're going to charge for chili fries, or garlic fries or whatever, please put a generous portion of that on the plate. I don't see this place making it another year unless they up the quality of the food, make the price in line with the value, and serve food in a reasonable time. Hot dogs are about the easiest foodservice item to prepare. Hope somebody takes some of this to heart. read more

Love this place, great place to take the kids, they give em free hats, play 50's music, have old fashioned root beer and craft beers. My favorite is the Chicago dog, the Fuji dog is really good too.
