Nessy Burger is one of our go-to spots. The food is always fresh, and the crinkle fries are easily my favorite. I love that they have sides like Thousand Island and jalapeños--it just hits. My usual is the grilled chicken sandwich--fresh veggies, soft bun, and so good with Thousand Island. The shakes are great too. It's loud where you order so I asked for a turkey burger but got a regular beef burger. I later went another time and had the turkey burger which was really tasty and fresh. The burgers are large and have good toppings you can add pickles yourself which is nice. The onion rings are really good. The fries are good too. It's a large portion so you can share the fries and onion rings with a couple of people depending on how hungry you are. They have hot dogs and shakes. Very nice staff but hard to hear when you order. So you don't know what you ordered until you pay and get your receipt. The hype is completely overrated. The best part of my experience was the chocolate milkshake. The clearly frozen, carnival-style wavy french fries were utterly tasteless. A burger joint should be able to perfect fries. It's basically 1/3 of the menu after the burgers and shakes. But a big miss here, which is disappointing. I only ordered them because I saw pictures from other reviewers of what appeared to be fresh cut fries. Perhaps that used to be the case and they just got lazy, cheap, or both. No ketchup or any condiments on the tables. You have to ask for it. As for the ketchup, they hand out some no-name brand of packets. If you're going to display the brand, it's got to be Heinz or at the very least, Hunt's. If you can't do that, them pump some bulk stuff into a small paper serving cup like at In-N-Out and hide the name and the shame. Now, as for the burger, it was probably a 1/2 lb. patty, but it was overshadowed by the oversized bun and the excess iceberg lettuce. Other than that, it did have decent flavor in its simplicity (onions, tomato and Thousand Islands being the other ingredients). On the way home from the OC we decided to pick up a couple of Nessy Burgers with fries and Onion Rings. The service was quick and our order was perfect. The outdoor seating was enticing but we wanted to bring our meal home. Being a small building, you would never think it provides great food. This venue has the best Burgers in the IE. Great locally-owned, one-of-a-kind Roadside Burger Joint! Just at the corner of 15 & 76. Great place to stop heading in or out of San Diego for a bite. Classic diner-style burgers, fries, and shakes. Fairly big patties- can do lettuce-wrapped for GF option. Fries are thick cut and yummy. Always hot, lightly crisp- I prefer mine "well-done". Walk-up ordering window. Nooooooooooo. Why did TikTok do me dirty?! I saw one TikTok and then - BOOM - watched a bunch others - and desperately wanted to try this burger. My son had a swim meet near it and I made a point to stop here after the meet...and noooooo. I had to practically scream through the plexi glass window for the person to hear me - And they still got half the orders wrong. And the price was totally not worth it. Granted, I do have a family of 6.... Our meal was $150.... Still expected the best. Heck - even my 80 year mother in law talked this place up. It's all outside seating and outside everything. The birds were everywhere and I had to wipe up bird poop before my son sat down with our food (and almost threw up over it because my stomach is weak AF). Meh, just okay. I'm sure it was great back in the day but my experience was subpar. Like others said in their reviews the help is less than friendly. I went and stood at the closed window for a good 3 minutes before somebody finally came up. There is no bill or knocking on the window because there is no one behind the window. Once you open the window she pretty much said what do you want. Didn't speak a word the entire time. This is my first experience so God forbid I wanted to ask any questions. I didn't order any drinks because the amount of bees swarming around the drink station is more of a hazard than a pleasure. I got my food to go even though there are umbrella tables out front. Just a heads up it's outdoor seating only. The burger itself is gargantuous! Unless you have a big appetite I would say you could split it with someone especially if you're getting fries too. A burger and fries with no drink is about 20 bucks. Another reason I will not come back. The burger itself even though the size was big the flavor was lacking. The strawberry shake tastes like a childhood memory reimagined by someone who's only heard of strawberries through folklore -- pleasant, but entirely artificial. This is our favorite burger spot in north San Diego! If we're ever returning to San Diego southbound on the I-215/I-15 and we're the slightest bit hungry, we almost always stop in for a burger or a steak sandwich and fries! They're located right off the I-15 & SR 76 junction on Old Hwy 395. They don't have an indoor dining room and it's outdoor patio dining with shade umbrellas at each table. Of all the times we've dined here, we've never been shut out of finding an available place to sit and eat. My wife & I share either their Nessy Burger OR steak sandwich & an order of fries OR onion rings. Both their burger & steak sammy are well portioned and can be easily shared, unless you're really hungry or a huge eater w/ a healthy appetite. They're extremely delicious, and I'd recommend eating it there versus taking your food to-go... I'd probably still taste good, but they're best when eaten right after your number is called. Restrooms and outdoor patio are clean. Staff have been friendly every time we've dined here. I always say I'll buy one of their merch (Nessy t-shirt) and always forget to get one. This place needs a quick intervention by the owner, seems like every time i return it's slowly going down hill. The employees need some training on interacting with customer. They are short and unfriendly. The food last couple of times, they pile the lettuce in clumps, meat patties are overcooked. This last time, witnessed the girl that handles the money- handling the fries bare handed!! They don't seem to care about tidy ness. The eating area was a mess. The bathroom was a disaster with paper towels all over the floor and paper dispensers empty. This last visit they had a sign apologizing that the soda machine was infested with bees!!! Certainly not worth $25 for a burger, small fries, and small drink. Check out the pic for the oversized "generic" bun and dry over cooked burger patty. The cheese was a complete joke as well. And of course they forgot the tomato. I also ordered it "for here" but they put it in a to go bag anyway. Their attention to detail and ability to listen to what the customer is ordering is very sloppy. The French fries were delicious though. I will give them that.
