Been more than 5 years since my last visit and they've made some changes so thought I'd make a stop. Wasn't sure how it would be given the times. Arrived Friday a little after 4. They were busy and just missed the 4 o'clock tour so I signed up for the last one at 5. Ordered a Blue Hen as this was a new one for me. Crisp and light Pilsner and perfect on a hot day. I was going to order some food but ran out of time before the tour. They have Pizzas/Calzones, Pretzel, Bratwurst and some salads. Plenty of outside seating and what looked to be an iron treehouse. It turned out that I was the only one for the tour at 5. The Tour guides (Carmen and Tiffany) were great sports and went ahead with the tour. Some great stories and history and this, my second tour, was much better than the one I had last time. The tour is free and you also get a flight -2 Brewer's choice and 2 your choice. Camp Amp (s'mores) Milk Stout & the Hazy-O were excellent! Leave it to Dogfish to brew a low cal IPA (Slightly Mighty). Although you can find them if you search, I do miss my favorites Palo Santo Maroon & Burton Baton but found out they will be making a limited release comeback. Also saw another favorite (Raison D'Etre) back in D'Extra form. Good to mix it up & bring in new varieties/creations but the downside is some of the favorites end up being replaced. Looking forward to those limited releases! Before I knew it, it was 7 and closing time. A great vibe here, even better than I remember it. Bartenders and servers are upbeat, fun and attentive. 100% of the tips go to local non-profits. You gotta love that! If you're in the area, make the stop to experience one of the Craft Beer pioneers! What an AMAZING experience it was visiting the dogfish head brewery! We flew all the way from Vegas just to have a dogfish head weekend, it's one of my favorite brand of beers. We started the day off with the brewery tour and had a great time, Tara was our tour guide and she was awesome, made the tour just that much better. We also had a great group and met some nice people. After the tour we enjoyed our build ur own flight and then enjoyed plenty of other dogfish head beers! We ordered the charcuterie board and it was very tasty. This place gets very packed, but it's great to see and hear everyone having a great time at a great place. What an amazing visit! We did the Crooked Tour that was a little over an hour. So worth it for only $20! You got to try 4 different drinks on the tour and then ended with a flight card to use at the bar. All the employees are so nice. It is such a great vibe to be in. Love the decor inside and the gift shop offers many options if you're looking for something for you or someone else. During our visit, the bartender provided a friendly reminder to stay hydrated and all the bartenders were very friendly and provided service as quickly as they could. Happened to come across the Dogfish Head Brewery by accident. We were in Milton for breakfast and while I was doing a search on my phone Dogfish Head came up. I knew of this place with the famous metal tree in front, but forgot that it was in Milton. Stopped here twice on our way to and back from vacation in Virginia. Because of time constraints we couldn't take the tour and we already ate before coming here so my review is strictly based on the beer and service. Both were great. The variety of beers on tap is incredible. They have their popular beers, limited runs, and beers only sold at that site so it was really hard to choose. Milton delivers! What a great spot, and one of the few places you can get the coveted 75 Minute IPA. Their kitchen is modest but mighty, and the staff is super wonderful. Prior to my visit to the Milton hub, I'd only visited the Rehoboth location (also worth visiting!) Both locales offer a great dining and drinking experience. Dogfish Head Craft Brewery is a craft brewery that opened in Milton, Delaware in 2002. It was founded by Sam Calagione. Calagione is originally from Maine, but spent time in New York City as a young man. He first began home-brewing in his kitchen and the first beer he brewed was made with overripe cherries (much to the enjoyment of his roommates). Years later, he had the idea to start his own brewery in Delaware because that was where his wife's family was from. Calagione chose the name 'Dogfish Head' in reference to a location in Maine that he had spent summers as a child. In June 1995, 'Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats' opened as a small brewpub in Rehoboth Beach. The first successful beer they brewed was 'Midas Touch': a beer brewed with honey, white Muscat grapes and saffron. Dogfish Head's slogan became "Off-centered ales for off-centered people". Not only were they the first brewery in Delaware, but also the smallest commercial brewery in the country. Once their popularity grew beyond the borders of Delaware, the production enterprise moved to an old food cannery (a 100,000 square foot facility) in nearby Milton in 2002. Today it is one of the largest craft breweries in the country. In addition to the production brewery in Milton, Dogfish Head still operates the original brewpub, as well as a seafood restaurant, three alehouses, a food truck, a distillery, and even an inn. In 2019, Dogfish Head merged with The Boston Beer Company (the founders of 'Samuel Adams Beer'). My wife and I first visited Dogfish Head in February 2018. We visited some friends in Washington D.C. and decided to stop in Delaware on the way home. The campus, complete with a Steampunk Treehouse, was the most impressive brewing facility we've ever seen! We arrived right when they opened and were able to get a private tour of the facility all to ourselves. Afterwards we were treated to some sampler flights in their tasting room. We tried everything from a Purple Corn Beer to a Port-Barrel Aged Barleywine. The latter, named "Puddin' Wine", was my favorite. I purchased a growler to take home. Definitely one of my favorite breweries. We travel from CT once a year to visit family in Delaware and this is always a must. We love their experimental beers which seem to get better and better every time we come... their normal listing of beers are always old favorites and their distillery is like no other. Their compelling gin is always stocked at my home. Their food is pub food- pizza, brats, salsa and chips but satisfies. Staff is always friendly and willing to help. Our first time here didn't disappoint. Dog friendly, indoors and out (always a bonus when traveling with our pooch). Beautiful outdoor area, lots of seating (we loved the tree). Lots of choices of beer and beverage. Our favorite beer was the blue hen pilsner which we also got in a growler to go. Food selection is small but what we had was delicious!!! Hubby had the calzone (stuffed with bratwurst as the primary meat). I chose the bratwurst on a pretzel bun - wow! No toppings needed. Great flavor in bratwurst and bun & perfect together. We also had a pretzel, of course (can't go to a brewery and not have a pretzel ). Staff was friendly and helpful. The pup enjoyed his time there as well. As a huge DogFishHead beer fan for quite a while now, this was a must-stop-in while we were in Delaware. We took a free one hour tour that ended with a free flight of 4 tasting. What else could you ask for? The tour was small group which was nice and explained their brewing process and went over some of their flavors, both past and present. The walking tour around the brewery also gave the history of the company and how the name originated. (No, you need to find out for yourself!) Again, it ended in their pub area with a nice flight of 4 to sample. There's also a nice gift shop which we looked through. We went here for lunch on a weekday and have to say maybe we expected too much, but we weren't that impressed. The facility itself wasn't all that grande on the inside, although we didn't do the tour- perhaps that would've changed our mind? The beer selection was limited too in our opinion - the bar staff was also not that attentive or even happy looking! The girl at check in though was very pleasant and kind! We sat outside and brought our dog- which is always nice! I would've thought they have some yard games or something - if so, nothing was out while we were there. We ordered lunch- the pretzel with cheese, bratwurst with sauerkraut and the pulled pork sandwich. The food was all great but again the people behind the counter taking ordered didn't seem to enjoy being there or overly happy. Also their lemonade (non alcoholic) was awful- we weren't the only ones judging by the amount of full glasses in the dirty dish bins. It's been a while since I was here and they did some minor renovation and the food truck is gone and they have a food kitchen set up . Ordered drinks: namaste white beer, orange crust with mango and skinny crush. The bartenders were slow, stood by the bar for a little while before they approached to take your order. Food: hot special of the day (roast beef, beer cheese, etc) tasted good and has a slight spicy kick to the sandwich and margaritas personal pizza which was really good. Dogfish Head might sound like when a Dog goes down on a Fish, or vice versa. And it is, believe me. But it's also a top ranked brewery. As much as a brewery can be top ranked in the USA (ohhhhh). You're the same people that think the cranberry aioli over some Boar's Head roast beef makes for the best sandwich in town. I don't believe you know beer any better than you know food. You drink a lot of it and you eat a lot of hipstercrap but you don't know why. I love hipster politics and liberalism and attitudes and laissez faire Euroness, but the food and beer are generally sh**, sorry. So are the tastes in said food and beer. Europe is the gold standard. America's trying to do its own thing and it caters specifically the Hipsters, so the hipsters of Europe who are also trying to do the same kind of thing over there will come here and think that you're doing a good job of it and validate your crapness as gold, but they're as clueless as you, bros and sisses. They're as wrong as you are. The traditionalists are the ones who know what beer, and have decent food tastes sometimes, and they will continue to be the Benchmark after the hipsters have forgotten what it means to be hipster and their children have re-invented what it means. When they do - which is inevitable - it will be the gold standards of Europe which continue to fly the flag and the problem with that is that Americans have not reached any of those gold standards (or really tried), instead going on the Hipster path. So continue to be convinced by places like Dogfish Head. They make good products. By American historical standards. But I'll never give them that 5th star until they can taste even half as good as a Stella Artois. Just half. And only then will I order more than a half. read more

My girlfriend insisted that we stop at Dogfish during a road trip because she's been and thought I'd like it. She wasn't wrong! Dogfish has a great taproom with staff that is quick to welcome you in and give you recommendations on what beers to try. Our bartender helped us build a flight based on our tastes and then gave us a recommended taste order. We enjoyed every beer recommended and it showed that this is a dedicated staff. We took their 25 minute (and free!) tour which is informative and funny. We stuck around for lunch - I had a calzone and my girlfriend had their bratwurst. First time visiting this location and I didnt know it is different than their location at the beach. This is a tasting room setup, there is no server you place your order at the bar for drinks and food at the walk up kitchen window. Limited choices for food. This brewery is so cool, and such a good deal! There's so much space inside and outside to hang out, play games and drink and eat. They offer two tour types--one you schedule and pay for ahead of time and the other is the quick tour. We did the quick tour, which was around 20 minutes and still comes with a free flight! Also, you don't have to schedule it ahead of time and need to wear closed toe shoes. I tried their Mac and cheese and bacon, and it was really good! I was honestly surprised by how good it was! Their beer options are also abundant and great. I like how they have R&D beer flavor options you can try that they're testing out. They'll even take your input on a beer! read more

While vacationing in Delaware one has to stop in at Dogfish. We did not take a tour this trip (I don't even know if tours are available during Covid) we merely stop to have lunch and taste a couple of their beers. We were greeted outdoors and were shown a table to sit at. All ordering, beer or food is done contactless. You scan a QR code on your table, order your food and drink and it magically appears at your table in a few minutes. I didn't particularly like this method of ordering but I know in these times it's the way things are done at certain establishments. It's just not the same giving your order to a wait person especially if you have questions about an item. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich that had a tangy sauce. It was quite good. What a great experience at Dogfish Head! Stopped in after visiting Rehoboth for some good eats. Where should I began, we were greeted warmly by the hostess and our server was seriously on it! He came right over with waters, made sure we were set throughout our visit and did a good job of explaining the specials and the differences between some of the beers we were considering! He did a great job! Apps are 1/2 priced on Monday's so we ordered two orders of wings. We got the dry rub and Asian fusion! Both were very yummy. Our Asian fusions were a little underdone, for our liking but it was no problem at all when we asked the waiter if they could be cooked just a little longer. He took them with a smile on his face and no questions! Hubby enjoyed his beer (I just had water) and our visit was nice. The restaurant is very aesthetically pleasing and it was very clean! Dogfish Head is one of my favorite breweries! I usually visit the restaurant when I go to Rehoboth-but decided to bring a friend on this trip so he could enjoy the 'off-centered' brew with a tour! Your usually run every hour and be ready to wear Crocs if you come with "open-toed shoes"! During weekdays-the tour is FREE! My friend enjoyed the tour, but his mind was BLOWN when we began our tasting! He feel in love with the Burton Baton and the Wood-Aged Bitches Brew! I am an IPA girl All Day-but I do swing towards the Sours too. I enjoyed the 120 of course; Dragons+Yum Yums & the Lupa Luau IPA surprised me-Super Tasty! I love how friendly & knowledgeable the staff were about the beers offered! After a few flights, we decided to go to the food truck and get a few things-I had the grilled cheese and he had the reuben-both hit the spot! Dogfish Head is a must on any Delaware beach trip, and I highly recommend venturing the 20-30 min out to Milton to go to the tasting room, where they feature a solid 12-15 unique, brewery-only beers to try. They've done a great job with COVID, offering only outdoor seating (that is not covered during rain, and not currently heated) by reservation only. Orders are placed through their app and brought directly to the table by masked staff shortly thereafter. They have an impressive machine to thoroughly spray down the tables with disinfectant once guests leave. You can order 4-5 oz samples of beer that can be brought out on flight boards made for 4 beers at a time, but there's no way to clearly mark which samples go on which flight if you have multiple people, but they seemed to pour in the order the beers were ordered. Each sample is quite affordable at $1.50-$3; our first 6 samples cost just over $10. I chose to try their brewery-exclusive sours, choosing the Guava Key Lime Tart (light, refreshing, and delicious), I Remember My First Check-in (their Untapped collaborative, a blackberry lavender sour that was unique and yummy), and Subcontinental Phruit (a mango vanilla sour with thicker consistency that was quite flavorful). BF ordered a few IPAs and seemed to really like the I Heard You Like Strata, a celebration of strata hops. He also couldn't resist a pint of the reliably delicious Punkin Ale on our crisp fall afternoon. The beers to go are a bargain --- 32 oz growlers, including glass, are just $8! For $9, you can purchase a crowler for added shelf-stability. Multiple 6-packs were offered for $10 apiece. It's worth the trip just to stock up at home. read more

You pick from their menu the 5 beers you want to try and write it down on your card. They will tell you the best order for them to serve it based on ABV and characteristics. If you want to make the trip even more special they offer free brewery tours and one that comes with a price but super worth it and limited daily. My boyfriend and I stopped by on our way to Rehoboth Beach for the weekend. This is his FAVORITE beer company so I was excited to share this experience with him. We had a great time learning about the history of the company and how the beer is made. We were able to watch the beer making process and the bottles go through the production line and into boxes for shipment. Our favorite part was tasting a couple different beers at the end of our tour. I tried the Dragons + Yum Yums, Lupu-Luau I.P.A., Viniferous I.P.A., and Sick Cider. Out of the 4 that I tried, Dragons + Yum Yums was my favorite! I still can't believe that BOTH the tour and tasting were free. They also have lawn games (bocce and cornhole) and food trucks, so it's worth the trip to get out here. *If you're wearing open toe shoes, they will require you to change into the Crocs they provide, so be prepared if sharing shoes with strangers isn't your thing* read more

Bustling tap room with high top tables, most of them filled when we visited around 1pm on a weekday. Dogs are allowed in the tap room, thank goodness, as it was 95 degrees outside. Food setup is a bit strange--you have to order it outside at walk-up windows and then it will be delivered to you in the tap room. As it is "Dogfish Head", expect prices to be a bit higher than other breweries. Husband had flight of 4 beers for $10. They also have a distillery on site and also offer a flight of custom cocktails, 4 for $10 which I tried. Nice refreshment stop on a very hot summer day. read more

I stopped in the middle of the day on Thursday because I had a day off and this had been on my list. Well worth the drive from Philadelphia of two hours. For free, I got a private tour of the facility (no one else on the 1PM) and officially 5 4oz tasters but with some extra tasters from the bartenders. To be clear, tours are free and come with free beer, that deal is hard to beat. Tour guide had a lot of knowledge and weaved his own story into the tour. The food is also excellent, had a great pulled pork on a toasted bun (as it should always be), only annoyance is due to state law you need to go get it at a window like a food truck and bring it back. As for the beer, it is Dogfish Head, a consistently great beer that is willing to try some wacky stuff. At present they have on tap 13 of the stuff you love and 11 R&D beers. I even got to try something they are working on and give them notes. A lot of fun and I will come back! read more
